Post Office Pays Thousands of Employees to Do Nothing

Democrats in Congress are planning a $4 billion bail out of the Post office. Meanwhile, mail volume is down 12.6 percent. Instead of transferring employees or laying them off, the Post Office is paying thousands of employees to do nothing.
The U.S. Postal Service, struggling with a massive deficit caused by plummeting mail volume, spends more than a million dollars each week to pay thousands of employees to sit in empty rooms and do nothing.

It’s a practice called “standby time,” and it has existed for years — but postal employees say it was rarely used until this year. Now, postal officials say, the agency is averaging about 45,000 hours of standby time every week — the equivalent of having 1,125 full-time employees sitting idle, at a cost of more than $50 million per year.

Soon, bureaucrats like those running the Post Office will be in charge of your health care if Obamacare passes.

Congress Gives Itself a Raise

You may be tightening your budget, but Congress isn't. Under a bill, which President Barack Obama could sign as soon as Wednesday, spending for the legislative branch will increase 5.8 percent this year. Unemployment is at a 26 year high and the deficit is headed for incomprehensible levels, but Congress has plenty of your money to spend.

From Politico via Yahoo News:
Congress is on the verge of giving itself a bump in its annual budget — even as local governments, families and businesses across the country are tightening their belts in the worst recession in decades.

Under a House-Senate conference measure, approved by the House last week and poised for passage in the Senate on Wednesday, spending for the legislative branch will increase 5.8 percent this year, boosting Capitol Hill’s annual budget to $4.7 billion.

WaPo Columnist Laments Democrats lack of an Attack Dog

Washington Post Columnist Chris Cillizza is concerned President Obama can't be an attack dog and the democrats don't have anyone to counter the republicans.

From The Washington Post:
The national debate over President Obama's health care plan has exposed a weakness in the Democratic Party apparatus: it lacks a high profile surrogate to push back -- hard -- against the rhetorical arguments put forward by Republicans.

While people like Republican National Committee Chairman Michael Steele and former Alaska governor Sarah Palin have scored points by hammering the Obama plan hard and repeatedly, there has not been that same sort of presence on the Democratic side. The dearth of attack dogs contributed to the White House losing the message war in September.

Shocker: Democrat Obstructing Countrywide VIP Loan Program Investigation Got Two VIP Loans

Rep. Edolphus Towns (center)

California Republican Representative Darrell Issa, the ranking Republican on the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee, is trying to subpoena the Bank of America to see if there are recordings between Countrywide and some of the politicians who may have received the mortgages. BoA bought Countrywide for $4 Billion in 2008. The committee's chairman, New York Democratic Rep. Edolphus Towns, is refusing that request. Reportedly, Rep. Towns received two VIP loans under the Countrywide program.

The Business Insider reported:
According to the Journal: "So far, the committee's chairman, New York Democratic Rep. Edolphus Towns, has turned down that request."

Michael Moore Threatens Democrats Opposed to Obamacare

Michael Moore threatened democrats who are not fully supporting Obamacare at a meeting of woman's groups and unions. Moore put blue dogs and other democrats cool to Obama's health care reform plan on notice he had every intention of removing them from Congress in the next election.

From Politico:
Controversial liberal filmmaker Michael Moore on Tuesday issued a warning to Democrats who have been cool to President Barack Obama’s call for meaningful health care reform: Get on board or prepare to lose your seat.

“To the Democrats in Congress who don’t quite get it: I want to offer a personal pledge. I – and a lot of other people – have every intention of removing you from Congress in the next election if you stand in the way of health care legislation that the people want,” Moore told supporters of women’s groups and unions gathered at the headquarters of the government watchdog group Public Citizen. “That is not a hollow or idle threat. We will come to your district and we will work against you, first in the primary and, if we have to, in the general election.”

Baucus Bill Will Expand America's Worst Health Care Program: Medicaid

America's worst government run health care system is medicaid. The Baucus bill will shove up to a total of 25% of the population into the Medicaid program within 10 years.
The more we inspect Max Baucus’s health-care bill, the worse it looks. Today’s howler: One reason it allegedly “pays for itself” over 10 years is because it would break all 50 state budgets by permanently expanding Medicaid, the joint state-federal program for the poor. The reason this saves money is Medicaid's price controls are even tighter than Medicare's. Forty percent of U.S. physicians won't accept Medicaid.

Governors are angry at Senator Baucus for the method he uses to make his version of health care reform pay for itself over 10 years. Some of the cost is shifted to state budgets.
About 59 million people are on Medicaid today—which means that a decade from now about a quarter of the total population would be on a program originally sold as help for low-income women, children and the disabled. State budgets would explode—by $37 billion, according to the Congressional Budget Office—because they would no longer be allowed to set eligibility in line with their own decisions about taxes and spending. This is the mother—and father and crazy uncle—of unfunded mandates.

Why is Medicaid America's worst government run health program? The reimbursement rates are even lower than Medicare. Forty percent of U.S. doctors won't take Medicaid and drugs are usually not covered.
As for the poor uninsured, they'll be shunted off into what Democratic backbencher Ron Wyden calls a "caste system." While some people will be eligible for subsidized private health insurance, everyone in the lowest income bracket will be forced into Medicaid, the country's worst insurance program by a long shot. States try to control spending by restricting access to prescription drugs and specialists. About 40% of U.S. physicians won't accept Medicaid at all.

Is the left realizing Obama is a blowhard without substance?

President Obama seems to be in perpetual campaign mode. It is hard to find a time he is not on television. There is a certain narcissism about him. Obama also hasn't demonstrated any serious ability to lead this country. In spite of the election being almost one year ago, he is still beating the "blame Bush" drum. America can not be lead forward by a self-centered individual who is constantly looking backward. Obama needs to remember he ran for the job of President, not movie star.

From Newsweek:
The president’s problem isn’t that he is too visible; it’s the lack of content in what he says when he keeps showing up on the tube. Obama can seem a mite too impressed with his own aura, as if his presence on the stage is the Answer. There is, at times, a self-referential (even self-reverential) tone in his big speeches. They are heavily salted with the words “I” and “my.” (He used the former 11 times in the first few paragraphs of his address to the U.N. last week.) Obama is a historic figure, but that is the beginning, not the end, of the story.

New RNC ad: “Dictionary”

The RNC's new ad, “Dictionary,” points out the eight new taxes proposed in the Democrats health care reform plans. The “Dictionary” reference comes from this Obama interview by George Stephanopoulos. Stephanopoulos read Obama the dictionary definition of a tax to support the argument a fine imposed by the IRS for not carrying health insurance really is a tax. Obama sputtered, "George, the fact that you looked up Merriam's Dictionary, the… definition of tax increase, indicates to me that you're stretching a little bit right now."

Did ACORN Help Franken Steal His Senate Seat?

Many people think Al Franken stole his Senate seat. Franken won by the razor thin margin of 312 votes out of about 3 million cast. ACORN claims to have registered 43,000 new voters in Minnesota. With ACORN's record, it is hard to say how many of those are legitimate. Many of these "newly registered voters" may have voted illegally. Minnesota's laws on proof of voter eligibility are notoriously loose.

From the Minnesota Star-Tribune:
But ACORN does have a special place in its heart for at least one prominent Minnesota politician. Last year, it showered praise on Al Franken, endorsing his run for the U.S. Senate. Franken returned the esteem: "I'm thrilled and honored to receive this endorsement," he gushed in a press release. He added that he was "more motivated than ever to work with ACORN."

...ACORN's registration drives "routinely produce fraudulent registrations," ...

Rasmussen: Support for Obamacare at New Low of 41%

Just say no to our health care masters

The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey only finds 41% support for President Obama and congressional Democrats health care reform plan. Fifty-nine (59%) oppose the plan. For the first time ever, a slight plurality of voters now doubt Obamacare will ever pass.

Rasmussen
reported:
Just 41% of voters nationwide now favor the health care reform proposed by President Obama and congressional Democrats. That’s down two points from a week ago and the lowest level of support yet measured.

Liberals Pushing for Obamacare to Cover Illegals

More than 20 liberal House Democrats have sent two letters pushing for illegal immigrants to be allowed some level of participation in the health care reform legislation.

The Washington Times reported:
Fearful that they're losing ground on immigration and health care, a group of House Democrats is pushing back and arguing that any health care bill should extend to all legal immigrants and allow illegal immigrants some access.

The Democrats, trying to stiffen their party's spines on the contentious issue, say it's unfair to bar illegal immigrants from paying their own way in a government-sponsored exchange. Legal immigrants, they say, regardless of how long they've been in the United States, should be able to get government-subsidized health care if they meet the other eligibility requirements.

Remember when, a short time ago, Obama and Democrats claimed illegals went covered under Obamacare, but Republicans countered there was no specific language in the bills to prevent illegal immigrants from participating? This prompted the "You lie" shout out by Rep. Joe Wilson. Later, President Obama quietly issued a policy drop supporting specific language in the bills to prevent illegals from being covered. Republicans suspected the lack of language barring illegals was a ruse to allow them to participate at a later date by a bureaucratic decision. La Raza is confirming this suspicion by asking that language be stricken from the bill.
The National Council of La Raza launched its own "flood their voice mail" campaign last week to put pressure on Mr. Baucus to expand coverage in his proposal to include all legal immigrants and to drop verification language in the legislation that would prevent illegal immigrants from obtaining coverage.

Landmark Kelo v. New London Land Seizure Case Property Now a Vacant Lot

In 2005 the Supreme Court rules 5-4 that local governments could seize private property for nonpublic projects. The landmark care was Kelo v. New London. The town of New London Connecticut wanted to seize Susette Kelo's home for a multimillion-dollar private development. Kelo, and Americans who value property rights, lost that case. The case resulted in an unsuccessful effort to seize Supreme Court Justice David Souter's New Hampshire home by eminent domain and build an inn. The 3,169 new jobs and $1.2 million a year in tax revenues promised by New London officials have never materialized. The property is now a vacant lot populated by Feral cats and thistle. See above picture.

From AP via Google News:

There are a few signs of life: Feral cats glare at visitors from a miniature jungle of Queen Anne's lace, thistle and goldenrod. Gulls swoop between the lot's towering trees and the adjacent sewage treatment plant.

But what of the promised building boom that was supposed to come wrapped and ribboned with up to 3,169 new jobs and $1.2 million a year in tax revenues? They are noticeably missing.

Journalist, Christopher Andersen, defends claim that Ayers helped with Obama's memoir

Best-selling celebrity journalist, Christopher Andersen, has disclosed in his new book, Barack and Michelle: Portrait of an American Marriage, that Bill Ayers made a significant contribution to Obama's book Dreams of My Father.

From American Thinker:
Relying on inside sources, quite possibly Michelle Obama herself, Andersen describes how Dreams came to be published -- just as I had envisioned it in my articles on the authorship of Dreams. With the deadline pressing, Michelle recommended that Barack seek advice from "his friend and Hyde Park neighbor Bill Ayers."

To flesh out his family history, Obama had taped interviews with various family members. Andersen writes, "These oral histories, along with a partial manuscript and a truckload of notes, were given to Ayers." Andersen quotes a Hyde Park neighbor, "Everyone knew they were friends and that they worked on various projects together. It was no secret. Why would it be? People liked them both."

Andersen continues, "In the end, Ayers's contribution to Barack's Dreams From My Father would be significant--so much so that the book's language, oddly specific references, literary devices, and themes would bear a jarring similarity to Ayers's own writing."

Christopher Andersen was on CNN defending this and other claims in his book.

Shocker: Principal of 'Kids Praising Obama Videotape' School is a Huge Obama Supporter

The Principal, Dr. Denise King, of the New Jersey school where kids were videotaped being taught to sing a song praising Obama is unapologetic.
The principal of a New Jersey elementary school where young students were videotaped singing the praises of President Obama is making no apologies for the videotape and says she would allow the performance again if she could, according to parents who spoke with her Thursday night.

Three parents told FOXNews.com that Dr. Denise King, principal of B. Bernice Young Elementary School in Burlington, N.J., defended the controversial performance, which was videotaped and posted on YouTube, when they approached her during a "Back to School" event.

It seems King is a huge Obama supporter.
King has long been a fan of Obama, hanging pictures of the president in her school's hallways and touting her trip to his inauguration in the school yearbook.

Included in the full-page yearbook spread were Obama campaign slogans ("Yes we can! Yes we did!") and photos King took in Washington on Jan. 20, when she attended the inauguration.

Fail to Pay Tax for not Taking Obamacare and Go to Jail

At a mark up hearing of the Joint Committee on Taxation, Sen. John Ensign (R-Nev.) asked the committee's chief of staff, Thomas Barthold, what would happen if Americans failed to pay the $1900 tax for not taking Obamacare.
Under questioning from Sen. John Ensign (R-Nev.), Barthold said the IRS would "take you to court and undertake normal collection proceedings."

Ensign pursued the line of questioning because he said a lot of Americans don't believe the Constitution allows the government to mandate the purchase of insurance.

"We could be subjecting those very people who conscientiously, because they believe in the U.S. Constitution, we could be subjecting them to fines or the interpretation of a judge, all the way up to imprisonment," Ensign said. "That seems to me to be a problem."

Sen. John Ensign (R-Nev.) now has written confirmation that Americans could face up to a year in jail for rejecting Obamacare and not paying the tax.

Violators could be charged with a misdemeanor and could face up to a year in jail or a $25,000 penalty, Barthold wrote on JCT letterhead. He signed it "Sincerely, Thomas A. Barthold."

Liberal Watchdog Group Attacks Leading Blue Dog

The Liberal watchdog group, Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington, has filed a complaint against Rep. Mike Ross, D-Ark., over the sale of his family owned pharmacy to USA Drug. The complaint alleges that the amount of the sale was greater than the assessed property value. Rep. Ross called the allegation a "bogus ... political stunt." He claims he sold an active business, not just a building. Rep. Ross said the $420,000 transaction reflected a 4 percent annual return on a $316,000 investment he made in 1998. Ross is the head of the Blue Dogs' health care task force and an opponent of the government-run option. Rep Ross has been called Obama's #1 obstacle to health care reform.

MSNBC reported:
The group Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington questioned in a complaint whether the $420,000 that USA Drug paid Rep. Mike Ross, D-Ark., for his family-owned Holly's Health Mart in Prescott was a fair price. The deal was first reported this week by the Web site ProPublica.

Documents show that, after the sale, the Nevada County assessor valued the property at $263,700. An appraiser hired by ProPublica valued it recently at $198,000.

Ross on Wednesday called the complaint a "bogus ... political stunt" and has said there was nothing improper about the sale. He said the $420,000 transaction reflected a 4 percent annual return on a $316,000 investment he made in 1998.

FCC's Diversity Czar: 'White People' Need to be Forced to 'Step Down'

In a recently discovered audio, the FCC's diversity Czar, Mark Lloyd, said that and much more. Not only is he anti-white people, he isn't very concerned about freedom of speech.

From NewsBusters:
This... there's nothing more difficult than this. Because we have really, truly good white people in important positions. And the fact of the matter is that there are a limited number of those positions. And that having a sort of over-arching rule that says broadcasters ought to be "fair" or ought to provide issues important to communities and that they ought to do it in a fair and balanced way is simply enough. Unless you put some teeth into that and put some hard, structural rules in place that are going to result in fairness.

Lloyd also said:

Wonder Why the AARP Supports Obamacare?

The answer may be greed. The AARP has been a strong supporter of Obamacare for the last several months. This position is not held by most of their membership. Many AARP members have resigned over the leadership's position. So, why is the AARP supporting the Democrat's health care overhaul? It isn't concern for providing coverage to their membership. Most seniors have insurance or are covered under Medicare. The reason the AARP supports Obamcare appears to be money. Under the Democrats health care reform plan, $162 billion in payments to privately-administered Medicare Advantage will be cut. This will force many seniors into government-administered plans with less generous benefits. Then, these seniors will need supplemental coverage sold by (drum roll please) the AARP. When private health insurance company Humana tried to warn seniors about the cuts in Medicare Advantage in a mailer, the HHS ordered them to stop sending the mailer and take the information off their website. However, if you want to issue a bulletin supporting the Democrats position that $500 billion can be cut from the Medicare budget without causing any cuts to senior's benefits, HHS doesn't have a problem with you.

From American Spectator:
President Obama and Democrats have proposed saving money to pay for health care legislation, in part, by cutting $162 billion in payments to Medicare Advantage, which allows Medicare recipients to choose privately-administered coverage. If these changes go through, millions of seniors who have chosen Medicare Advantage would lose their current coverage, forcing them into government-administered plans with less generous benefits. As a result, many of them would have to purchase policies to supplement traditional Medicare. Enter AARP.

In 2008, AARP generated $652.7 million in revenue by selling products like Medigap supplemental Medicare insurance, accounting for over 60 percent of the group's revenue...

Hypocritical Massachusetts Democrats Grant Kennedy His Dying Dishonorable Wish

Massachusetts Democrats changed the law to prevent then Republican Governor Mitt Romney from naming a Senate successor in the event John Kerry was elected President. Now, the hypocrites have granted Ted Kennedy his dying dishonorable wish to change the law back so the now Democratic Governor can name a Democrat to replace him. Ted Kennedy showed a complete lack of honor when he ,reportedly, left Mary Jo Kopechne to die at the bottom of channel off of a small bridge on Chappaquiddick island on July 18, 1969 and failed to report the accident for 8 hours. Faced with this kind of tragedy early in life, most people would have developed a strong desire to do what is honorable for the rest of their years. That isn't true for Ted Kennedy. His dying wish was for the Democrats in the Massachusetts legislator to make hypocrites of themselves by changing the Senate succession law so the current Democratic Governor of Massachusetts could appoint a Democrat to his Senate seat and continue the filibuster proof majority Democrats currently hold in the Senate.

The state Senate passed a bill this afternoon that would allow Governor Deval Patrick to name an interim successor to Edward M. Kennedy, potentially paving the way for appointment of a new US senator later this week.

The Senate approved the measure by a 24-to-16 vote, leaving one final procedural hurdle in both chambers before the bill heads to Patrick's desk. The House and Senate are expected to enact the bill on Wednesday, a formality unlikely to derail the effort.

Democrats have accused Americans of engaging in an uncivil debate if they strongly oppose Obamacare. The NRCC has put together a video book of Democrats showing their "civility."

ACORN has a sugar daddy

Since the Senate and the House have voted to cut off ACORN's funding because of corruption, ACORN is seeking private funding to keep going and they have a mysterious "sugar daddy."
When life hands you lemons, find a sugar daddy to turn it into lemonade. That appears to be the axiom in play at ACORN today, which has sent out an e-mail blast hoping to turn videos of several offices offering assistance for child-prostitution and tax evasion into a bountiful fund-raising opportunity.

Bertha Lewis informs the potential donors that an unnamed individual will match donations up to $20,000 for the privilege of continuing to assist people with the kind of legal advice seen in action:
Dear John ,

I know I speak for everyone at ACORN when I tell you that we are humbled by the outpouring of support, and we are deeply grateful.

I have an exciting update to share with you. An anonymous donor has offered to match all new donations to ACORN — dollar-for-dollar — up to $20,000.

There will never be a more important moment to donate to ACORN — we are in the fight of our lives. And now, when you donate, your gift will be worth TWICE as much, up to $20,000.

Thank you for everything you do to help people in need,

Man handcuffed and assaulted by police for posting Obama Joker poster

Houston police assaulted and handcuffed a man for posting Obama Joker posters. He was charged with criminal mischief and vandalism.

Cops Handcuff, Assault Man For Posting Obama Joker Flyers

From YouTube:
Thursday, September 17, 2009 Houston Cops Handcuff, Assault Man For Posting Obama Joker Flyers. A Houston man was handcuffed and assaulted by cops for posting anti-Obama flyers around his town, actions described as criminal vandalism by police and some local residents, despite the fact that giant pro-Obama murals are openly displayed in the same neighborhood for all to see.

21-year-old Mark Fuhre, an Alex Jones Show listener, decided to post the flyers even though the Infowars Obama Joker Poster Contest had ended, because he wanted to alert his neighbors to the cult of personality being manufactured around Obama and how the establishment is stifling any criticism of the President by constantly invoking racism.

Fuhre believed that he had a first amendment right to express his opinion, just as those that spray painted giant Obama HOPE murals in the same neighborhood had done without opposition. However, shortly after he began to post the flyers, a local resident voiced his anger that Fuhre had the temerity to exercise his freedom of speech and called the police.

They slammed me against the hood of my car, cuffed me, threw me in the back of the car, Fuhre told local news station KPRC.

AP Fact Check: Enforcing Coverage with a Fine is a Tax

Over the weekend, President Obama sparred with ABC's George Stephanopoulos about whether fining people to enforce mandated health insurance coverage is a tax. Stephanopoulos read Obama the dictionary definition of a tax to bolster the argument the fine actually should be considered a tax. Obama said:
OBAMA: No. That's not true, George. The… ?for us to say that you've got to take a responsibility to get health insurance is absolutely not a tax increase. What it's saying is, is that we're not going to have other people carrying your burdens for you anymore than the fact that… right now everybody in America, just about, has to get auto insurance. Nobody considers that a tax increase. People say to themselves, that is a fair way to make sure that if you hit my car, that I'm not covering all the costs.

AP agrees with George Stephanopoulos and Obama's critics. It is a tax.
WASHINGTON – Memo to President Barack Obama: It's a tax. Obama insisted this weekend on national television that requiring people to carry health insurance — and fining them if they don't — isn't the same thing as a tax increase. But the language of Democratic bills to revamp the nation's health care system doesn't quibble. Both the House bill and the Senate Finance Committee proposal clearly state that the fines would be a tax.

And the reason the fines are in the legislation is to enforce the coverage requirement.

"If you put something in the Internal Revenue Code, and you tell the IRS to collect it, I think that's a tax,"
said Clint Stretch, head of the tax policy group for Deloitte, a major accounting firm. "If you don't pay, the person who's going to come and get it is going to be from the IRS."

Biden sees "end of road?"

When talking about Republicans gaining control of the House in 2010, VP Joe Biden said, "If they take [those seats] back, this is the end of the road for what Barack and I are trying to do." Let's hope those words are prophetic.

From The Hill:
Vice President Joe Biden on Monday said if Republicans succeed in winning back the House in 2010, it would be the "end of the road" for the White House's agenda.

At a fundraiser for Rep. Gabrielle Giffords (D-Ariz.), Biden said the prospects for change rest with about 35 Democrats who sit in districts Sen. John McCain (R-Ariz.) won in the 2008 election. It is those seats, Biden said, that are the GOP's leading targets.

"They're going to put their chips on movement in the 35 seats in the House that have been traditionally Republican districts and trying to take them back," Biden said, according to a pool report of the event.

"If they take [those seats] back, this is the end of the road for what Barack and I are trying to do,"...

DOJ to investigate ACORN funding

The Justice Department's inspector general is looking into ACORN to see if they received any DOJ grant money. Don't expect too much from Obama's DOJ. After all, they dropped the charges against the Black Panther's accused of voter intimidation prosecution.

FOX News reported:
The Justice Department's inspector general has agreed to investigate whether ACORN has applied for or received any DOJ grant money, in the wake of bipartisan criticism of the community activist group's operation.

CNN anchor Rick Sanchez calls Glenn Beck “pudgy-faced.”

CNN anchor Rick Sanchez brazenly implied FOX News is not a "real news organization." He also insulted Glenn Beck by calling him “pudgy-faced.” When Sanchez said real news organizations should not stage, promote or hype news events, I mistakenly thought he was referring to CNN. Sanchez is so busy looking for bias at FOX News, he can't see the bias at his own network.

From NewsBusters:
CNN anchor Rick Sanchez again attacked Fox News on Monday’s Newsroom, implying the channel wasn’t a “real news organization,” and bizarrely labeled Glenn Beck “pudgy-faced.” Unsurprisingly, Sanchez continued his silence concerning his own network’s left-wing bias.

HHS investigates Humana for criticizing Obamacare

Humana sent seniors a mailer warning them that the planned $500 billion in medicare cuts could affect their benefits. They urged seniors to contact their Congressman.
The Humana mailer focused squarely on the Medicare Advantage program.

"While these programs need to be made more efficient, if the proposed funding cut levels become law, millions of seniors and disabled individuals could lose many of the important benefits and services that make Medicare Advantage health plans so valuable," it said...

The HHS took offense at Humana exercising their free speech rights.
HHS ordered the company to immediately halt any such mailings, and remove any related materials from its Web site. In the letter, the government also said it may take other action against Humana.

Here is a screen shot of the mailer. Click image for a larger view.

PDF of full mailer is here.

Although there is nothing misleading about this mailer, HHS alleged that seniors were so senile they would mistake the mailer for an official Medicare communication.
In a warning letter to Humana, HHS said the government is concerned that the mailer "is misleading and confusing" partly because the company's lobbying campaign could be mistaken for an official communication about Medicare benefits.

Sen. Max Baucus, D-Mont., was outraged.
"It is wholly unacceptable for insurance companies to mislead seniors regarding any subject — particularly on a subject as important to them, and to the nation, as health care reform," Baucus said Monday, disclosing the HHS investigation.

Sen. Max Baucus, just because you don't think the Medicare cuts will lead to benefit cuts doesn't make it the indisputable truth. The government has no right to censor communications between companies and their customers as long as no law is broken.

House Minority Leader John Boehner: Democrat's Health Care Plan is Dead

Yesterday, House Minority Leader John Boehner declared Obamacare dead on NBC’s “Meet the Press.” Boehner said, "the Congress will not pass this—it’s really time for the president to hit the reset button." Boehner was asked by Gregory, “So you think the plan is dead?” He replied, “I think it is.”

CNS News reported:
(CNSNews.com) - House Minority Leader John Boehner (R.-Ohio) said today that the health-care plan that President Barack Obama is pushing in Congress is now dead and will not pass....

“So you think the plan is dead?” asked Gregory.

“I think it is,” said Boehner.

The excerpted comment starts at the 9:00 mark.

From the video:
“We’ve outlined a number of ideas to make the current system better. Why not allow small employers to group together through national associations so they can buy health insurance for their employees like big companies and unions can today? Why not allow the American people to buy health care plans across state lines? Why not get serious about medical malpractice reform and more importantly the defensive medicine that doctors practice because we haven't reformed our tort system? There are ideas I outlined some of these ideas in a letter to the President back in may, asked to sit down with him and his Administration, and we got a nice polite letter back that says thank you for your ideas, we'll see you at the end. I’ve not been to the White House since late April, early may. There’s been no bipartisan conversation on Capitol Hill about health care, at some point when these big-government plans fail, and they will, the Congress will not pass this, it's really time for the President to hit the reset button and stop all of this and sit down and start over in a bipartisan way to build a plan that Americans will support.”

Obama Redefines What a Tax Increase is

President Obama sputters as he tries to explain why forcing people to buy health insurance is not a tax increase. When Stephanopoulos reads Obama the dictionary definition of a tax increase, Obama sputters, "George, the fact that you looked up Merriam's Dictionary, the… definition of tax increase, indicates to me that you're stretching a little bit right now."

From the video:
STEPHANOPOULOS: That may be, but it's still a tax increase.

STEPHANOPOULOS: But it may be fair, it may be good public policy...

OBAMA: No, but… but, George, you… you can't just make up that language and decide that that's called a tax increase. Any...

STEPHANOPOULOS: Here's the...

OBAMA: What… what… if I… if I say that right now your premiums are going to be going up by 5 or 8 or 10 percent next year and you say… well, that's not a tax increase; but, on the other hand, if I say that I don't want to have to pay for you not carrying coverage even after I give you tax credits that make it affordable, then...

STEPHANOPOULOS: I… I don't think I'm making it up. Merriam Webster's Dictionary: Tax…"a charge, usually of money, imposed by authority on persons or property for public purposes."

OBAMA: George, the fact that you looked up Merriam's Dictionary, the… definition of tax increase, indicates to me that you're stretching a little bit right now. Otherwise, you wouldn't have gone to the… dictionary to check on the definition. I mean what...

STEPHANOPOULOS: Well, no, but...

OBAMA: ...what you're saying is...

STEPHANOPOULOS: I wanted to check for myself. But your critics say it is a tax increase.

OBAMA: My critics say everything is a tax increase. My critics say that I'm taking over every sector of the economy. You know that.

Proof Dogs are Great Judges of Character

The Libyan Mission in New York rolled out the red carpet for dictator Moammar Khadafy. Maggie the dog expressed the feelings of many Americans by promptly taking a pee on the red carpet. Irritated Libyan officials were forced to cut away a section. Someone give that dog a treat.

The NY Daily News reported:
A politically incorrect pooch delivered a stream of consciousness protest Saturday as Libyan officials rolled out the red carpet for dictator Moammar Khadafy.

Maggie the dog was out for a walk when she responded to the pomp by taking a pee on the lush rug outside the Libyan Mission - a gesture appreciated by many New Yorkers with little use for the notorious colonel.

"The dog had excellent taste," said Mark Birnbaum, 57, a Mission neighbor who watched the whole thing. "She's a sweetheart."...

The Amazing Sand Painting of Kseniya Simonova. Wow!

Wow. This is truly amazing. Enjoy!

From Youtube:
Kseniya Simonova is a Ukrainian artist who just won Ukraine's version of "America's Got Talent." She uses a giant light box, dramatic music, imagination and "sand painting" skills to interpret Germany's invasion and occupation of Ukraine during WWII.
