Weird News: Couple on Blind Date Discover They are Brother and Sister

Don't worry. They figured it out before they got too friendly.
A CLEANER signed up to a website and ended up on a blind date - with her long-lost brother.
Sarah Kemp, 42, swapped emails and photos with 47-year-old George Bentley.

But it was only when they met in a pub on their first date and talked about their childhood that they realised they were brother and sister.

Luckily, the penny dropped before any "kisses or fumbles" took place.

Liberal Heartache: Demo Rep. Russ Carnahan's district may be eliminated by redistricting

So long Russ. Don't let the door hit you in the butt on the way out.

Ozarks First- A map submitted for consideration of the House Redistricting Committee by its chair, Rep. John Diehl, R-Town and Country, shows the congressional district currently represented by Congressman Russ Carnahan, D-St. Louis, absorbed by the three congressional districts that currently border it…

…The map also shifts northwest Missouri congressman Sam Graves’ district to include almost every county north of the Missouri River from the western border of the state to the eastern border.

Another significant shift appears to have been made in mid-Missouri where the city of Columbia and Boone County, traditional Democratic strongholds, have been shifted out of the district represented by current Ninth District Congressman Blaine Luetkemeyer and placed into the district of freshman U.S. Rep. Vicky Hartzler, R-Harrisonville.

The Fukushima 50 are ready to die to save their country

Real heroes still exist.
The so-called Fukushima 50, the team of brave plant workers struggling to prevent a meltdown to four reactors critically damaged by the March 11 earthquake and tsunami, are being repeatedly exposed to dangerously high radioactive levels as they attempt to bring vital cooling systems back online.

Speaking tearfully through an interpreter by phone, the mother of a 32-year-old worker said: "My son and his colleagues have discussed it at length and they have committed themselves to die if necessary to save the nation.

"He told me they have accepted they will all probably die from radiation sickness in the short term or cancer in the long-term."

Demo Sen. Claire McCaskill needs to get off the Kool-Aid. Only a deranged liberal mind could fins reduced CO2 emissions as a "silver lining" to this painful  recession. Does she see the same "silver lining" in the Japan earthquake and tsunami?  Her reelection chances are toast now.

Quinnipiac University poll: Only 41% thinks Obama deserves reelection

A Quinnipiac University poll released Wednesday has found a new low for President Obama . Only 41% thinks he deserves reelection.
(Politico)- President Barack Obama’s approval rating and prospects for reelection have plunged to all-time lows in a Quinnipiac University poll released Wednesday.

Half of the registered voters surveyed for the poll  think that the president does not deserve a second term in office, while 41 percent say he does. In another Quinnipiac poll released just four weeks ago, 45 percent said the president did not deserve reelection, while 47 percent said he did.

Obamacare’s director of Health Insurance Exchanges: Employers may dump people into the exchanges

But...but...we were told we could keep our insurance if we liked our insurance.
Joel Ario: “If it plays out the exchanges work pretty well, then the employer can say ‘This is a great thing. I can now dump my people into the exchange and it would be good for them, good for me,'
I doubt this would be good news for any employee, but this is what opponents have predicted all along.
(The Weekly Standard)- As the Hill reports, Joel Ario, director of Obamacare’s newly created Office of Health Insurance Exchanges, says, “If it plays out [that] the Exchanges work pretty well, then the employer can say ‘This is a great thing. I can now dump my people into the Exchange and it would be good for them, good for me.’” This doesn’t quite have the same ring as, “If you like your health care plan, you can keep your health care plan” — but it does have the benefit of being much closer to the truth. Since the employer would be the one making the decision, however, it’s not at all clear that this would be good for the employee, the one being “dumped.”

Irony: President Obama accepts “transparency” award in secret

You just can't make stuff like this up.

(POLITICO) President Obama finally and quietly accepted his “transparency” award from the open government community this week — in a closed, undisclosed meeting at the White House on Monday.

The secret presentation happened almost two weeks after the White House inexplicably postponed the ceremony, which was expected to be open to the press pool.

US Military Blast Libyan Navy Vessels

 P-3C Orion U.S. Navy 1-72 by Hasegawa
They were firing indiscriminately at shipping.
USS MOUNT WHITNEY, At Sea (NNS) -- A U.S. Navy P-3C Orion maritime patrol aircraft, U.S. Air Force A-10 Thunderbolt attack aircraft and guided-missile destroyer USS Barry (DDG-52), engaged Libyan Coast Guard vessel Vittoria and two smaller craft March 28.

The vessels were engaged after confirmed reports that Vittoria and accompanying crafts were firing indiscriminately at merchant vessels in the port of Misrata, Libya.

The P-3C fired at Vittoria with AGM-65F Maverick missiles, rendering the 12-meter patrol vessel ineffective and forcing it to be beached after multiple explosions were observed in the vicinity of the port.

Two smaller Libyan craft were fired upon by the A-10 using its 30mm GAU-8/ Avenger cannon, destroying one and forcing the other to be abandoned.

Barry provided situational awareness for the aircraft by managing the airspace and maintaining the maritime picture.

Dingy Harry Reid: “Social Security Has Not Contributed One Penny to The National Debt in 75 Years”

That claim is false.
“Social Security has not contributed one penny to the debt or the deficit ever in its 75 years,” Reid said at Monday’s event.

The claim is false. According to the actuaries for Social Security and Medicare, the Social Security program ran a deficit of approximately $41 billion, excluding interest on the bonds in the Social Security trust funds. Those bonds, which are a special type of Treasury bond, are placed in the trust funds in place of the cash surpluses Social Security has taken in from payroll taxes.

Don't hold your breath waiting for Biden to call for President Obama's impeachment. He would though if he had a shred of credibility left.

Hypocrite Alert: Demo Rep. Anthony Weiner Introduced Parking Ticket Collection Bill, But Racks Up $2000 in Unpaid Parking Fines

Demo Rep. Anthony Weiner is all about collecting unpaid parking tickets from foreign dignitaries.
Weiner has raged against foreign dignitaries who ignore New York City's traffic rules, and last year introduced a bill seeking to get $18 million in unpaid parking tickets from 180 nations for the city.
But he has a different attitude when the parking tickets are his.
Rep. Anthony Weiner, the self-appointed scourge of diplomatic scofflaws in Manhattan, has racked up more than $2,000 in unpaid parking tickets around Capitol Hill.

From 2007 to March of this year, Weiner's ticket total was 2,180 for violations near the Capitol and at Reagan Washington National Airport, Roll Call, the Capitol Hill newspaper, reported Tuesday.

New York — The cash-strapped MTA may soon put welfare recipients to work scrubbing and cleaning the subways.

The Metropolitan Transportation Authority wants to revive its participation in the city’s Work Experience Program — which makes the unemployed toil for their benefit checks.

“This is a program that has a proven track record of doing three things: providing low-cost cleaning help for the subway; providing job training to people who need it, and leading directly to full-time employment for many of the people who participate in the program,” MTA spokesman Jeremy Soffin said.

Religion of Peace Alert: Two Christians Killed in Response to Florida Pastor Koran Burning

The Complete Infidel's Guide to the Koran

In addition to murdering Christians, attacking churches and burning bibles, they are demanding the death of Pastor Jones.
Islamabad (AsiaNews) - Two believers killed, churches attacked, copies of the Bible burned: the Christian community in Pakistan is once again the victim of violence by Islamic fundamentalists, who have targeted places of worship in the country. The extremist violence was triggered by the insane act - repeatedly condemned by Christians in Pakistan and India – of the pastor Wayne Sapp, who last March 20, in Florida burned a Koran under the supervision of the evangelical preacher Terry Jones...

Meanwhile, the weekend demonstrations were repeated against the burning of the Koran wanted by Pastor Terry Jones in different cities of Pakistan - among other Peshawar, Lahore and Islamabad. The demonstrators, who burned his picture and chanted slogans and chants against the United States, called for the death of U.S. preacher. Extremists also threatened reprisals and other targeted attacks against Christians, if the U.S. government fails to take action against Pastor Jones.

The New York Times has launched its new online subscription plan today. And Lisa Belkin of the Times parenting blog, Motherlode, is dutifully advertising the great opportunity readers have to pay for online content in her post today.
A number of you have written to ask my personal opinion of digital subscriptions. Like everyone else, I wish there were a way to pay the hefty cost of producing this remarkable newspaper with online advertising alone. But I also understand what it takes — what it costs — to create this breathtaking entity every day. And I don’t use that word lightly. What The Times has created online, what we assume we can access with a few keystrokes, takes my breath away. I have come to accept as a given that I can enter this site and the world will be explained to me, in real time, and in intricate detail. I am willing to pay for that.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton said there was no need for military action against Syria. She called Syrian President Bashar Al-Assad a "reformer". Meanwhile, Assad's regime shoots anti-government protesters.
(Bloomberg)- Clinton said the elements that led to intervention in Libya — international condemnation, an Arab League call for action, a United Nations Security Council resolution — are “not going to happen” with Syria, in part because members of the U.S. Congress from both parties say they believe Assad is “a reformer.”

500,000 British Nanny State Lovers Rally

When a society reaches a tipping point where the majority depend on socialistic government policies and government jobs, reform becomes almost impossible.
Between 400,000 and 500,000 teachers, nurses, firefighters, council and NHS workers, other public sector employees, students, pensioners and campaign groups from across the UK marched through central London to a rally where union officials and Labour leader Ed Miliband condemned the "brutal" cuts in jobs and services.
As you can see the British have already reached the tipping point. When you try to reign in the nanny state, the lefties get violent.
Violence flared away from the rally when a group of hundreds of activists, not connected with the union protest, clashed with police. They set off fireworks, threw paint and attacked shops in Oxford Street, Regent Street and Piccadilly.
If Democrats and President Obama have their way, America will soon be in the same situation. What happened in Wisconsin is just a prelude of things to come.

Is the tide turning for Libyan rebels?

The rebels are advancing and routing Muammar Gaddafi’s troops.
(JPost) — Libyan rebels have entered the oil-exporting town of Ras Lanuf after routing Muammar Gaddafi’s troops further east, a rebel fighter told Reuters on the road to Ras Lanuf.
“There is no Gaddafi army in Ras Lanuf,” said the fighter, Walid al-Arabi, quoting rebels who had returned from the town.
He said he believed the front line was now west of Ras Lanuf.
Earlier Sunday, An Al Jazeera correspondent said the rebels had reached Uqayla, more than 110 kilometers (68 miles) west of Ajdabiyah and the last town traveling west before the major oil exporting terminal of Ras Lanuf.

Spilled Coffee: Liberal "Coffee Party" Undergoing Civil War

Dunkin Donuts Ground Coffee - 40 Oz

Liberals answer to the Tea Party is in serious trouble. It seems they can't even be civil and get along with each other.

From the Interim Board via Politico:
1) There is a lack of actual democracy within the organization. In a democratic organization, one person does not have the power to dissolve Boards, Interim or not. In a democratic organization, all votes (and all people) count equally. This is not the case within the CPM. We have had multiple experiences of having completed a task that we were asked to do, and then having all our work undone, because the founder of the Coffee Party did not approve of the outcome. It is our understanding that this experience is not limited to members of the Interim Board.

2) There is a lack of actual civility toward the Interim Board, as well as toward the Managing Director, David Overcash. We have been sent emails from our founder calling us timid bureaucrats, sexist jerks, out of touch with the people, fearful, intimidated, unable to understand the historic importance of the moment…etc.…

Florida House Bill Cuts Off Public Employee Union Money

When a union contract is negotiated, the first thing the union goes for isn't improved wages or benefits. It is automatic "check off." This means union dues are automatically deducted from employees wages. Unions pay themselves first. If unions have to collect from the members, let's just say a lot of people don't want to pay. The Florida House has voted to end "check off" for public employee unions.
TALLAHASSEEThe Florida House delivered a major blow to public employee unions Friday, approving a bill that would ban automatic dues deduction from a government paycheck and require members to sign off on the use of their dues for political purposes.

Democrats and Republicans fought over the legislation for just under two hours. Democrats and labor unions have accused conservatives of “union-busting” and said the bill was more about political payback than public policy. Unions have typically been big backers of Democratic candidates.

Ayers: I think the book is very good, the second book ("The Audacity of Hope") is more of a political hack book, but uh, the first book is quite good.
Question: Also, you just mentioned the Pentagon and Tomahawk …
Ayers: Did you know that I wrote it, incidentally?

It's On: GOP Goes After AARP Over Obamacare Support

The AARP was a strong supporter of Obamacare. Considering the $500 billion in Medicare cuts in the bill, this seems strange. Republicans think they know why the AARP sold out seniors. They make a lot of money selling seniors insurance and supplemental health insurance policies.
(The Hill)- The Ways and Means health and oversight subcommittees are hauling in the seniors lobby's executives before the panel for an April 1 hearing on how the group stands to benefit from the law, among other topics. Republicans say AARP supported the law's $200 billion in cuts to the Medicare Advantage program because it stands to gain financially as seniors replace their MA plans with Medicare supplemental insurance — or Medigap — policies endorsed by the association.

The hearing will cover not only Medigap but "AARP’s organizational structure, management, and financial growth over the last decade."

An embarrassing hearing would not only hit AARP back for its support of the law, but fits in with the GOP's mantra that the law was written behind closed doors to favor Democratic allies.

President Obama 02/12/09:
"In many ways, you can measure America's bottom line by looking at Caterpillar's bottom line," Obama said.

Caterpillar's bottom line is saying high Illinois taxes are killing them and they are considering moving to another state.
SPRINGFIELDThe chairman and CEO of Peoria-based Caterpillar Inc. is raising the specter of moving the heavy equipment maker out of Illinois.

In a letter sent March 21 to Gov. Pat Quinn, Caterpillar chief executive officer Doug Oberhelman said officials in at least four other states have approached the company about relocating since Illinois raised its income tax in January.

“I want to stay here. But as the leader of this business, I have to do what’s right for Caterpillar when making decisions about where to invest,” Oberhelman wrote in the letter obtained Friday by the Lee Enterprises Springfield bureau. “The direction that this state is headed in is not favorable to business and I’d like to work with you to change that.”

Haley Barbour drinks the Kool-Aid

Is there a RINO hidden inside GOP presidential candidate Haley Barbour? Supporting the global warming scam won't help him get elected as a GOP candidate.
CEDAR RAPIDS, Iowa (ABC News)Potential presidential candidate Haley Barbour appears to be staking out a moderate position on global warming than some of his possible rivals, saying at an event in eastern Iowa on Friday that the country should “proceed in national policy as if global warming is actually happening.”

Barbour, who has consistently opposed regulation of the energy industry, made the comments in response to a question from an Iowa voter who asked the Mississippi governor whether he thought global warming was real.

“I think the prudent thing for us, when you consider the potential risk, the prudent thing is to proceed as if global warming is an issue,” Barbour said at a luncheon organized by a local Republican group, the Linn Eagles, “but we don’t have to destroy the American economy for no positive results to do that.”

Al Gore: Republicans are extremists returning us to dark days or something

The Great Global Warming Blunder: How Mother Nature Fooled the World's Top Climate Scientists

Al Gore is having a fit because Republicans won't go along with his climate change scam. Gore claims Republicans don't even believe in climate change. That is false. Everyone understands climate change exists. Changing is what climates do. The real question is how does what is happening in recent years differ from historical climate change. Is it really warmer now then ever? Gore and climate change alarmists would lead you to believe that. They went so far as to smooth the medieval warming period out of their famous hockey stick graph and splice modern thermometer readings onto a tree ring record in order to mislead the public. The other point of contention is how much effect, if any, is man-made CO2 having on the recent warming trend. The answer to that is unclear.
(The Hill) — Former Vice President Al Gore is asking Democratic activists to send donations to House Democrats’ campaign arm as a check on the “extreme elements in control of today’s Republican Party.”

“Not since the dark days of the Bush administration have we seen a Republican-controlled Congress that is so intent on pushing their agenda in Washington — protecting tax breaks for oil companies making record profits, attempting to roll back environmental regulations, and not only refusing to pass climate change legislation in any form but refusing to acknowledge that climate change even exists,” Gore wrote in a fundraising pitch for the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee (DCCC).

Hypocrite Alert: Demo Rep. Anthony Weiner Wants ObamaCare Waiver For NYC

Rep. Anthony Weiner wants to be mayor of NYC and he is looking into a way for NYC to get an Obamacare waiver. What a weasel.
Rep. Anthony Weiner said Wednesday he was looking into how a health law waiver might work for New York City.

Weiner, who is likely to run for mayor of New York, said that because of the city’s special health care infrastructure, his office was looking into alternatives that might make more sense. Weiner is one of the health care law’s biggest supporters; during the debate leading up to reform, he was one of the last holdouts in Congress for the public option.

Only 737 federal employees were denied a pay increase in 2009 due to poor job performance

The Complete Idiot's Guide to Getting Government Jobs

Most people in government jobs know they won't get a bad review no matter what their job performance is. Giving someone a bad review is no fun and it's not like the government has to show a profit or anything.
(IBD)- Just 737 federal employees were denied a pay increase in 2009 due to poor job performance, according to information obtained by the Federal Times, a D.C. newspaper for government employees. That’s about one out of every 1,698 workers, or a denial rate of 0.06%.

Believe it or not, that is actually up from recent years, according to data from the Office of Personnel Management.

Donald Rumsfeld: Bush Scared Moammar Gadhafi into giving up nuke weapon program

From the video:
Donald Rumsfeld: “It’s a little known story, but the truth is Gadhafi and the Libyans for years had been developing nuclear weapons. And at some moment after the major combat operations and after Saddam was captured, apparently Gadhafi went to some Westerners and said, ‘I do not want to be the next Saddam Hussein,’ and indicated that he did have a nuclear program. Indicated that he was willing to give up his nuclear program, and in fact invited inspectors in to help dismantle the activities he had undertaken to develop a nuclear weapon.”

Obama on Nobel Prize: He is keeping it because he didn't deserve it in the first place or something

In a great example of circular reasoning, President Obama doesn't see any contradiction in keeping his Nobel Peace Prize because he had two wars going on when he received it.
(Politico) — President Obama defended his Nobel Peace Prize on Tuesday, saying that Americans “don’t see any contradiction” in him ordering an attack on Libya to make sure “people aren’t butchered because of a dictator who wants to cling to power.”

“When I received that award, I specifically said there was an irony because I was already dealing with two wars,” Obama said in an interview with CNN from El Salvador. “So I am accustomed to this contradiction of being both a commander-in-chief but also someone who aspires to peace.”

Obama Panders to Muslims

I wouldn't be surprised if Obama had minarets built on the White House.
WASHINGTON, March 23 (UPI)Critics of a U.S. Justice Department lawsuit on behalf of a Muslim teacher in Illinois say it is politically motivated.

Government lawyers filed the religious discrimination suit in December on behalf of Safoorah Khan, The Washington Post reported Wednesday. Khan quit her job in Berkeley, a suburb of Chicago, when she was refused time off to make a pilgrimage to Mecca.

Critics say Khan was requesting a three-week absence, well beyond the usual accommodation to employees’ religion, and the Justice Department should not have become involved. They suggest the Obama administration filed the lawsuit in an effort to reach out to U.S. Muslims.

Obama defends Libya attack and claims former President Bush did not have full international support

Pot meet kettle. Russia and China call for immediate ceasefire.

The Plum Line reported, via FOX Nation:
In Chile, Obama puts forth his doctrine, defending the Libya mission by claiming that humanitarian interventionism is the “core principle that has to be upheld.”
Crucially, Obama also took a tacit shot at Bush, comparing his own multilateral approach favorably to the former president’s:
“In the past there have been times when the United States acted unilaterally or did not have full international support, and as a consequence typically it was the United States military that ended up bearing the entire burden.”

Maher was offering an imagined Palin response in an apparent attempt at humor, as Palin had made no such statement.
The National Organization for Women (NOW) refused to comment on Maher’s use of the derogatory term. A rep told FOXNews.com it is a “known fact” that NOW does not correspond with FOX News.

CARACAS (Reuters) - Capitalism may be to blame for the lack of life on the planet Mars, Venezuela's socialist President Hugo Chavez said on Tuesday.

Stay tuned. Tomorrow, President Obama is expected to declare life on Mars was destroyed by anthropogenic climate change.
