Rudy Giuliani: Obama will turn the nation more socialist than France if re-elected

Rudy Giuliani tells it like it is...
LAS VEGAS (AP) — Former New York Mayor Rudy Giuliani had harsh words for President Barack Obama during a campaign stop in Las Vegas, saying he has accomplished nothing and will turn the nation more socialist than France if re-elected.
“What do we want to elect, an unsuccessful person? We tried that, OK, we tried a person of no accomplishment,” Giuliani said. “Now let’s try something different, let’s try a man who has actually been successful in life.” [...]
During his stop in the state with the nation’s highest unemployment rate, Giuliani accused Obama of being anti-business and creating “thousands of pages of regulations” aimed at turning the country into a socialist government.
“Anybody in Las Vegas who is going to vote for him is out of their mind, now that’s probably true in the rest of the country, too,” Giuliani said. “He’s going to make France look like a low-tax country.”

Key player in the enactment of the 1994 assault-weapons ban was responsible for overseeing Operation Fast and Furious

Fast and Furious was a scheme to justify more gun control.
(CNSNews.com) — Dennis K. Burke, who as a lawyer for the Democrats on the Senate Judiciary Committee in the 1990s was a key player behind the enactment of the 1994 assault-weapons ban, and who then went on to become Arizona Gov. Janet Napolitano’s chief of staff, and contributor to Barack Obama’s 2008 presidential primary campaign, and a member of Obama’s transition team focusing on immigration issues, ended up in the Obama administration as the U.S. attorney in Arizona responsible for overseeing Operation Fast and Furious.

When Obama nominated Burke to be U.S. Attorney for the District of Arizona, Burke told the Arizona Capitol Times he believed he understood what the president and his attorney general wanted him to do.

“There’s clearly been direction provided already by President Obama and Attorney General Holder as to what they want to be doing, and this is an office that is at the center of the issues of border enforcement,” said Burke. . . . After Obama was elected in November 2008, Burke joined his presidential transition team, serving on the Immigration Policy Working Group.

White House Senior Adviser David Plouffe advises allies to keep lying and call Obamacare tax a penalty

Shameful...
(CNSNews.com) A memo published by White House Senior Adviser David Plouffe advises allies to mislead when they discuss the recent Supreme Court decision on the individual mandate, saying they should call it a penalty when it is in fact a tax.

“In light of yesterday’s Supreme Court ruling to uphold the Affordable Care Act, Republicans in Washington are trying to deliberately misrepresent the President’s record of cutting taxes for the middle class,” Plouffe wrote in his memo Friday.[...]

“For those that can afford health insurance but stay uninsured—forcing the rest of us to subsidize their care for free—a penalty is administered,” the memo reads.

Obama threatens to veto defense bill because higher health care fees for members of the military left out

Military members and their families should remember this in November.

Via Free Beacon:
The Obama administration on Friday threatened to veto a defense appropriations bill in part because it does not include higher health care fees for members of the military.
“The Administration is disappointed that the Congress did not incorporate the requested TRICARE fee initiatives into either the appropriation or authorization legislation,” the White House wrote in an official policy statement expressing opposition to the bill, which the House approved in May.
President Obama’s most recent budget proposal includes billions of dollars in higher fees for members of TRICARE, the military health care system, and is part of the administration’s plan to cut nearly $500 billion from the Pentagon’s budget.

GOP Rep.Allen West: “I think that former Speaker Pelosi is somewhat delusional,”

Only somewhat delusional? Rep. West is too nice.

Via Politico:
Rep. Allen West on Friday called Nancy Pelosi “somewhat delusional” for refusing to say that the individual mandate of the Affordable Care Act constitutes a tax, and likened the mandate to forcing people to “buy a 9mm Glock.”
“I think that former Speaker Pelosi is somewhat delusional,” West said on Fox News. “You have to remember that this is the person who said that we have to pass this bill in order to find out what is in his bill. So there has been a deception against the American people from the onset.”
After the Supreme Court upheld President Barack Obama’s health care law Thursday, Republicans pounced on the president and Democratic lawmakers for having argued during the health care debate that the individual mandate was not a tax. The high court said in its decision that Congress could require almost all Americans to buy health insurance through its authority to tax.

Shocker: Holder's Justice Department Refuses To prosecute Eric Holder For Contempt Of Congress

If you didn't see this one coming, you weren't looking...

Via WaPo:
The Justice Department has told House leaders that Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr.’s decision to withhold certain documents about a flawed gun operation from Congress is not a crime and he will not be prosecuted for contempt of Congress.

Deputy Attorney General James M. Cole explained the decision, which was expected, in a letter to House Speaker John A. Boehner (R-Ohio). The letter was released publicly Friday, just over a week after President Obama invoked executive privilege to withhold the documents.

Demo Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton: “The gun lobby is directly responsible... for the tragic death of a border agent.

Deranged democrat Eleanor Holmes Norton is blaming the NRA for gun walking and the murder of Border Patrol agent Brian Terry.

Via Daily Caller:
Washington, D.C., Democratic Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton, who represents the city in Congress, claimed the National Rifle Association is responsible for Border Patrol agent Brian Terry’s murder and Operation Fast and Furious...
“Any doubt that today’s contempt resolution is political was put to rest when the NRA joined in to blow-torch vulnerable Democrats to vote for contempt today,” Norton said on the House floor. “The gun lobby is directly responsible for the gap in federal law that allowed purchases of guns here that were sold in Mexico and ultimately for the tragic death of a border agent. Yet our committee spent no time on the root cause of the tragedy because of a political mandate from the gun lobby.”

Chief Justice Roberts: "You're on your own, suckers."

Chief Justice Roberts throws Americans under the bus in order to uphold his distorted vision of an apolitical court.

QOTD – “It is not our job to protect the people from the consequences of their political choices.” – Chief Justice John Roberts in siding with liberals and upholding Obamacare.

The very small silver lining in the SCOTUS Obamacare decision

Lots of pundits are trying to put some lipstick on this pig of a ruling. They claim it will help Romney get elected and reign in the abuse of the Commerce Clause. At the end of the day, this ruling is still a disaster for those who oppose government intrusion into our healthcare system. The mandate and most of the rest of the law are still in place. Also, the decision kicked open the door for a whole new way for our government to impose their will on citizens subjects serfs. You can now be charged a tax for failing to eat broccoli or failing to buy a Chevy Volt. There is no way to put lipstick on that pig. The very small silver lining in the SCOTUS Obamacare decision is since the Obamacare mandate is a tax, it can be undone through the budget reconciliation process in the Senate. The irony of undoing the key part of this abomination with the same procedural trick Democrats used to pass it is sweet irony.
Now that the Supreme Court has ruled that Obamacare’s health insurance mandate is in fact a tax levied on those who do not purchase insurance, Senate Republicans will look to repeal the full law through the budget reconciliation process.

Reconciliation was used to push Obamacare through the Senate in 2009. Generally reserved strictly for budget-related measures, it eliminates the possibility of a filibuster, meaning Republicans would only need 51 votes to repeal that portion of the law – or even the full law itself.

Sen. Jim DeMint (R-SC) seemed open to that approach during a speech at The Heritage Foundation shortly after the Supreme Court handed down its decision. The court’s ruling “does present some options for us” to pursue more unconventional options for repeal, DeMint said. He mentioned reconciliation as a potential avenue.

A senior Senate Republican aide involved in the repeal effort later confirmed to Scribe that the GOP will use the budget reconciliation process in an attempt to repeal the full law, not just the portion requiring all Americans purchase health insurance.
The other small benefit is Obama can't force states to expand their Medicare program to cover 15 million low income individuals.  They will be forced into the insurance pools and face premiums and copay's.

Eric Holder Gets a Spanking. House Votes Him in Civil and Criminal Contempt

Eric Holder is the first sitting member of an administration to be voted in contempt of Congress. All he had to do was turn over some documents.

Via the Washington Times:
The House on Thursday cited Attorney General Eric H. Holder Jr. for contempt of Congress in a historic vote weighted with political significance, though it does little to break the stalemate over his decision to withhold documents over the Justice Department’s actions in a botched gun-walking operation.

The 255-67 vote amounted to a political spanking for Mr. Holder and President Obama, and 17 Democrats joined with Republicans in demanding the documents be released. Most Democrats, however, walked out in protest of the vote.

It marks the first time an attorney general has been held in contempt by a chamber.

2008 Flashback Video: Obama Says Health Care Should "Never Be Purchased With Tax Increases On Middle Class Families."

President Obama tried to mince words and avoid calling the huge tax increase in Obamacare a tax. The curtain has now been lifted.

How Chief Justice Roberts Has Shredded The Constitution...

Chief Justice Roberts has ruled the mandate is unconstitutional under the Commerce Clause, but can stand anyway because it is really a tax. Many will consider this argument a technicality. In some ways it is. Imagine a SCOTUS opinion making it illegal to sell a dozen eggs, but legal to sell twelve. That is of course ridiculous and we would be lucky if this was just one stupid and misguided SCOTUS ruling. It isn't. Roberts' opinion fundamentally changes the Constitution. Actually, it shreds it. What Chief Justice Roberts is actually saying is the government can not force you to buy insurance, but they can tax you if you don't.
•       “The individual mandate cannot be upheld as an exercise of Congress’s power under the Commerce Clause. That Clause authorizes Congress to regulate interstate commerce, not to order individuals to engage in it.”
•       But “it is reasonable to construe what Congress has done as increasing taxes on those who have a certain amount of income, but (who) choose to go without health insurance. Such legislation is within Congress’s power to tax.”
Think about that for a  minute. The government can now tax you at will for not engaging in an activity. They can tax you for not buying a Chevy Volt or other electric vehicle. It just gets worse from there. The Constitution won't allow the government to mandate a religion, but they can decide Islam is in the national interest and tax you if you don't join. This practice was called jizya or jizya and was a feature of early Islam. Chief Justice Roberts and the four liberal members of the Supreme Court have just legalized jizya.

Obamacare Mandate Stands: We are now subjects of the federal government

Chief Justice Roberts joins the 4 liberal members of the court and rules the Obamacare mandate to purchase insurance can stay, but is is really a tax, not a penalty. The rest of the law was upheld with some minor objections to the state medicaid provision. We are no longer citizens of this once great country. We are now it's subjects. If the federal government can force you to buy a private product, they can do anything. Our Constitution is now a worthless historical artifact in a museum. We have been betrayed by the Supreme Court. Is treason too strong a word?

Via FOX News:
The Supreme Court has upheld the centerpiece of President Obama's health care overhaul, in effect allowing the law to survive.
In a 5-4 decision unveiled Thursday, the court ruled as constitutional the so-called individual mandate requiring most Americans to obtain health insurance starting in 2014.
The ruling is a victory for the president, ensuring for now that his signature domestic policy achievement remains intact.
It also ensures that the law will play a prominent role in the general election campaign, as Republican candidate Mitt Romney vows to repeal the law if elected.
Chief Justice John Roberts, who was appointed during a Republican administration, joined the four left-leaning justices on the bench in making the decision.

House Progressives ready to double-down on stupid and push for single-payer option if Obamacare struck down

When the majority of Americans reject your attempt to takeover their healthcare, what do you do? You propose an even bigger takeover of their healthcare if you are House progressives.
WASHINGTON — The last thing House progressives want is for the Supreme Court to strike down President Barack Obama’s health care law. But if the high court rules Thursday that some or all of the law is unconstitutional, progressives are ready to renew their push for the model of health care they wanted all along: the single-payer option.
“It’s easy to see it’s a good idea,” Rep. Keith Ellison (D-Minn.), co-chairman of the Congressional Progressive Caucus, told The Huffington Post. “It’s the cheapest way to cover everybody.”
Ellison said all 75 members of the caucus have already signed onto a bill by Rep. John Conyers (D-Mich.) to create a single-payer, publicly financed, privately delivered universal health care program. The proposal would essentially build on and expand Medicare, under which all Americans would be guaranteed access to health care regardless of an ability to pay or pre-existing health conditions.
House progressives pushed hard for a single-payer option, such as the “Medicare for all” approach, during the health care reform debate in 2009. But House Democratic leaders couldn’t come up with the votes to pass the proposal... Keep on reading...

Checking the mainstream media experts Obamacare predictions

At about10:00 AM this morning, we will know how the Supreme Court feels about the constitutionality of Obamacare. Here is what some of the mainstream media experts said in March. If any of the law is struck down, they have a big plate of crow to eat. Quotes from here and here.
“About half the public apparently believes that the Affordable Care Act’s individual mandate is unconstitutional.... I’m here to tell you: that belief is simply wrong. The constitutional challenge to the law’s requirement for people to buy health insurance — specifically, the argument that the mandate exceeds Congress’s power under the Commerce Clause — is rhetorically powerful but analytically so weak that it dissolves on close inspection. There’s just no there there.”
— Former New York Times Supreme Court reporter Linda Greenhouse in a March 21 blog posting.

Anchor Soledad O’Brien: “So the bottom line is, is making people buy health insurance a legitimate use of the power of Congress?”
CNN legal analyst Jeffrey Toobin: “Correct, and the challengers in these laws have said, ‘No, this is not something Congress can do.’ What I wrote in The New Yorker this week, what I think is that basically that is a really weak argument, in that the United States Congress has been regulating health care for years, has been involved in this market for years, and this is a perfectly ordinary use of Congress’s power.”
— CNN’s Starting Point, March 19. [Audio/video (0:47): Windows Media | MP3 audio]

“I agree with many constitutional scholars who think, actually, that the statute is going to be upheld, because there really isn’t much of an argument on the other side....It’s hard to articulate why this Supreme Court, given the precedents that exist that support the power of Congress over interstate commerce, how the Court would explain striking down this statute.”
— Former longtime New York Times Supreme Court reporter Linda Greenhouse on CBS This Morning, April 7.
“The history of big social legislation like this is that there is this period before it kicks in, before people get used to the benefits, where there’s a lot of anxiety....There’s a lot of anxiety in the public, but there’s not a sense of all the good things that could come.”
New York Times correspondent Matt Bai on ABC’s This Week, April 1.

“On health care — that’s partly a failure of communication, it seem to me. How do you go a year and a half where so many Americans don’t even understand the benefits of this legislation when they apply to them?”
New York Times columnist Tom Friedman on NBC’s Meet the Press, April 1.

House Democrats: Ruling against Obamacare will mean "dangerous Tea Party extremists will go on a rampage."

The Tea Party really scares Democrats. It is a completely grass roots  and Democrats have been unable to find anything to match it. They hoped Occupy Wall Street would be their Tea Party, but it degenerated into a bunch of criminal thugs, homeless and anarchists.

Via The Hill
The House Democrats' campaign arm on Wednesday said if the court strikes down Obama's law, "Democrats will need to redouble our efforts, fighting to ensure universal healthcare that's affordable and accessible to every American is a reality."

It also warned that a decision against the law means "dangerous Tea Party extremists will go on a rampage."

The email to supporters from former Rep. Patrick Kennedy (D-R.I.) said that if healthcare reform stands after Thursday's ruling, Republicans "backed by super PACs and shadowy front groups like Karl Rove's Crossroads GPS" will "do everything in their power to defeat President Obama."

If the GOP wins the election, they will "dismantle the [healthcare] law piece by piece," the email said.

The Supreme Court is expected to rule on the Affordable Care Act (ACA) shortly after 10 a.m. Thursday morning.

Good News: Florida Federal Judge Allows Purge of Illegals From Voter Rolls to Continue...

Best news of the day...
TALLAHASSEE, Fla. (AP) — A federal judge has refused to stop Florida from removing potentially non-U.S. citizens from its rolls.
The U.S. Department of Justice sued the state to halt the purge, arguing it was going on too close to a federal election.
U.S. District Judge Robert Hinkle said Wednesday that there was nothing in federal voting laws that prevent the state from identifying non-U.S. citizens even if it comes less than 90 days before the Aug. 14 election.
Hinkle ruled that federal laws are designed to block states from removing eligible voters close to an election. He said they are not designed to stop states from blocking voters who should have never been allowed to cast ballots in the first place.
Gov. Rick Scott praised Hinkle’s decision, saying “irreparable harm will result if non-citizens are allowed to vote.”

Leading House Democrats tell NRA to Butt Out of Holder Contempt Vote

The NRA believes the purpose of "Fast and Furious' was to get guns sold in America into the hands of Mexican drug gangs for the purpose of murder and mayhem and, then, blame the violence on lax U.S. gun laws. This would be used as the catalyst for new gun legislation. The NRA  may be correct and the withheld documents may provide the truth. They are scoring this vote.
(The Hill) — Leading House Democrats on Wednesday urged the nation’s powerful gun lobby to butt out of the partisan fight over a measure to hold U.S. Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress.
The National Rifle Association (NRA) warned House lawmakers last week that it will score Thursday’s vote on the Republicans’ contempt resolution, which accuses Holder of stonewalling a GOP investigation into a bungled gun-walking program under his Department of Justice (DOJ).
Rep. Xavier Becerra (D-Calif.) said the NRA is merely “playing politics,” arguing that the contempt vote “has nothing to do with the specific use or ownership of guns” and charging that the NRA’s involvement “shows how far Republicans allowed the issue of government oversight to descend into an issue of Republican overreach.”
“What the heck is the NRA doing getting involved in scoring votes on an issue of a contempt citation?” Becerra, vice chairman of the House Democratic Caucus, said during a press briefing in the Capitol.
Democratic Caucus Chairman John Larson (Conn.) also questioned the NRA’s involvement, calling it an “extraordinary” step even as he conceded it will likely swing some Democratic votes behind the contempt measure.

Talks between Obama administration and House Republicans break down. Holder contempt vote on schedule.

"The only people who don't want to disclose the truth are people with something to hide."

There is no other conclusion than Obama and Holder are hiding something very damaging in these documents. The number demanded by the House to hold off a contempt vote was winnowed down to only 1700...
WASHINGTON (AP) — Obama administration officials and House Republican staff members have met but failed to resolve a document dispute that could lead to a precedent-setting contempt of Congress vote Thursday against Attorney General Eric Holder.
A House Republican official, not authorized to be quoted by name, said Tuesday that White House and Justice Department representatives showed the GOP staff 30 documents related to the botched Fast and Furious gun-tracking operation.
The GOP official said the administration also promised to provide hundreds of pages of documents, but only if the House Republicans would stop the contempt effort and end their investigation. The offer was rejected.

Minority Whip Rep. Steny Hoyer admits some Democrats will vote to hold Eric Holder in contempt of Congress

Thursday Eric Holder will secure his place in the history books as the first Attorney General to be held in contempt of Congress. The NRA is scoring this vote...
WASHINGTON (AP) — Now that the politically potent National Rifle Association is keeping score, some Democrats may join House Republicans if there’s a vote to hold Attorney General Eric Holder in contempt of Congress in a dispute over documents related to a botched gun-tracking operation.

The chief Democratic House head counter, Rep. Steny Hoyer of Maryland, declined to tell reporters how many defections he expected, but acknowledged that some in his party would consider heeding the NRA’s call for a “yes” vote.

The gun owners association injected itself last week into the stalemate over Justice Department documents demanded by the House Oversight and Government Reform Committee. The NRA said it supports the contempt resolution and will keep a record of how members vote.

Report: George Zimmerman passed a lie detector

The result of the police lie detector test was "No Deception Indicated (NDI)." Can we call Zimmerman a political prisoner now?

Via The Smoking Gun:
A day after killing Trayvon Martin, George Zimmerman passed a police lie detector test when asked if he confronted the teenager and whether he feared for his life “when you shot the guy,” according to documents released today by Florida prosecutors.
According to a “confidential report” prepared by the Sanford Police Department, Zimmerman willingly submitted to a computer voice stress analyzer (CVSA) “truth verification” on February 27. Investigators concluded that he “has told substantially the complete truth in regards to this examination.”
Zimmerman, the report noted, “was classified as No Deception Indicated (NDI).”
Along with questions about whether his first name was George and if it was Monday, Zimmerman was asked, “Did you confront the guy you shot?’ He answered, “No.” He was also asked, “Were you in fear for your life, when you shot the guy.” Zimmerman replied, “Yes.”

Running Scared: Claire McCaskill will skip the Democratic National Convention in Charlotte

Barack Obama’s campaign has a legion of lawyers on standby for this year’s election

Obama and Holder plan to use the courts to steal the election?
OLYMPIA, Wash. — President Barack Obama’s campaign has recruited a legion of lawyers to be on standby for this year’s election as legal disputes surrounding the voting process escalate.

Thousands of attorneys and support staffers have agreed to aid in the effort, providing a mass of legal support that appears to be unrivaled by Republicans or precedent. Obama’s campaign says it is particularly concerned about the implementation of new voter ID laws across the country, the possibility of anti-fraud activists challenging legitimate voters and the handling of voter registrations in the most competitive states.

Republicans are building their own legal teams for the election. They say they’re focused on preventing fraud — making sure people don’t vote unless they’re eligible — rather than turning away qualified voters.

It's time to cut foreign aid to Egypt to $0

Rep. Joe Walsh (R., Ill.) explains why...

Via WFB:
Rep. Joe Walsh (R., Ill.) is calling for the U.S. to ax foreign aid to Egypt in light of a recent election that put in power a new Muslim Brotherhood-backed president who said that he is reassessing the country’s peace treaty with Israel and considering increasing ties to Iran.

“The sole purpose for providing Egypt with over $2 billion dollars a year in U.S taxpayer dollars was to maintain the peace treaty with Israel and promote stability in the region,” Walsh said in a statement provided to the Free Beacon. “With the Muslim brotherhood now calling on closer ties to Iran and a redo of the peace treaty with Israel, I see no reason to send one more dollar of U.S aid to Egypt. Every dollar wasted propping up this new government is a dollar wasted that should be going to paying down our debt or providing tax relief to struggling American families.”

Egypt should not be rewarded with taxpayer money for threatening to cut ties with Israel, Walsh said. As Americans struggle in a stagnating economy, the U.S. should only be funding those countries that will uphold U.S. values abroad. More here...

“We will closely monitor the impact of S.B. 1070 to ensure compliance with federal immigration law and with applicable civil rights laws, including ensuring that law enforcement agencies and others do not implement the law in a manner that has the purpose or effect of discriminating against the Latino or any other community,” Holder said in a statement on the ruling.
“I remain concerned about the impact of Section 2, which requires law enforcement officials to verify the immigration status of any person lawfully stopped or detained when they have reason to suspect that the person is here unlawfully.”

UN allows Hamas to hold meeting promoting the destruction of Israel

President Obama is most pleased...
(JPost) — The Obama administration’s political and financial backing of the UN Human Rights Council resulted in another win for Hamas on Friday, June 22 in Geneva. A Hamas-affiliated organization and its supporters held an “informal parallel meeting” promoting the destruction of the Jewish state at the UN’s Palais des Nations.

The event was advertised on the UN website and listed on an official UN document headlined “Human Rights Council, twentieth session, 18 June–06 July 2012.”

Opening week of the Council’s latest session, therefore, featured both friends of Hamas sporting UN passes and championing an end to a Jewish state, and Obama’s Ambassador (and former California fundraiser) Eileen Donahoe painting the Council as the place to be to promote and protect human rights.

In recent months, top Israeli officials have pleaded with their US counterparts to end American legitimization of the Council in light of its virulently anti-Israel record. In fact, this is the first Council session in which Israel’s observer seat is empty. Instead, the Obama administration has doubled-down on its support for the UN body and continues to trumpet its decision to seek a second term on the Council at elections this fall.

Hamas and company have now calibrated team Obama’s evident priorities to their advantage.

Domestic fights have dominated Egyptian news headlines when the bid fell on the two most feared and most controversial candidates, Mursi and former prime minister Ahmed Shafiq, Al-Arabiya news reported.

NC Dem. Congressman Mike McIntyre refuses to endorse toxic President Obama…

Tim Pawlenty not interested in being Romney's VP? (Video)

Former Minnesota Gov. Tim Pawlenty:
I’ve indicated that I think I can best serve Romney in other ways. In particular, as a volunteer and surrogate speaker in places where he can’t go. I’ve encouraged people who asked this question in the campaign to look at other prospects.

Face-palm: Met Office super-computer designed to predict the weather for the next 100 years wrong within 48 hours

Double Face Palm

Look at the bright side. The British only wasted £20.7million...

THE boss of the cash-rich Met Office has boasted that its £41million super computer will deliver accurate forecasts “a century ahead”.

But critics say the money would have been better spent getting the next day’s forecast right.

John Hirst said taxpayers would be well served by the massive computer because it would ensure Britain leads the world in climate science.

He said £20.7million was invested in the project last year alone, taxpayers’ money “which will enable the Met Office to deliver more accurate forecasts, from hours to a century ahead”. Mr Hirst said this referred to climate change predictions.

A Met Office forecast issued last Thursday for yesterday predicted hours of sunshine in central London. But there was hardly any, with rain clouds covering the capital for much of the day. Keep on reading...

Fail: TSA Screener With Middle-Eastern Sounding Name Forgets to Plug in Metal Detector

What could possible go wrong?

Via New York Post:
The TSA’s bungling reached a new low yesterday when a JFK Airport terminal had to be evacuated and hundreds of passengers marched back through security screening all because one dimwitted agent failed to realize his metal detector had been unplugged, sources told The Post.
The stunning error led to hours of delays, two planes called back from the runway and infinite frustration for furious passengers.[...]
The chaos at Terminal 7 was caused by screener Alija Abdul Majed, who had manned Lane No. 1 during the morning shift with no idea his metal detector had no juice, sources said.

Amazingly, he failed to realize that alert lights never flashed once as streams of passengers filed through the dead detector, the sources said.

Majed was so clueless that he couldn’t even tell police how long the machine had been shut off or how it happened, the sources said.

“It was simply an unplugged machine — the TSA doing its best,” another source said.

Nancy Pelosi Predicts SCOTUS Decision: 6-3 to Uphold...

Delusional....
"First of all, I think we're ironclad on the constitutionality of the bill,"
"We believe in the Constitution, we believe in judicial review ... I think we'll be 6-3 in our favor."

Arab Spring Fail: Muslim Brotherhood's Mohammed Mursi has been declared the winner of Egypt's presidential election

This is a big setback for those opposed to Islamic fundamentalism. I am not sure President Obama is in that group...

Via BBC:
The Muslim Brotherhood's Mohammed Mursi has been declared the winner of Egypt's presidential election run-off.

He won 51.73% of the vote, beating former PM Ahmed Shafiq, the Higher Presidential Election Commission said.

The head of the panel of judges, Farouq Sultan, said it had upheld some of the 466 complaints by the candidates, but that the election result still stood.

The announcement prompted scenes of jubilation in Cairo's Tahrir Square, where Mr Mursi's supporters gathered.

Racist Obama Campaign Requiring Photo ID's

You may be able to vote without a photo ID, but don't expect to get into an Obama rally.

Via Fox Nation:
At a recent Obama rally in Ohio, prospective attendees were told to brandish their photo IDs if they expected admittance to the rally. No word yet on whether Attorney General Eric Holder plans to file suit against the Obama campaign for infringing upon Ohioans’ right of peaceful assembly by way of a racist photo ID rule.
Jessica Kershaw, the Obama campaign’s Ohio Press Secretary, confirmed in a statement to BuzzFeed that the campaign checked every supporter’s identification at the door.
“We checked every ID at the door to make sure it matched with the name on the ticket that supporters filled out,” she said. “We did this for every person who came in.”

Obama jacked up Obamacare spending after SCOTUS arguments

$2.7 billion of your tax dollars flushed down the Obamacare toilet bole.

Via Politico:
Conservatives wanted the White House to stop spending on the health care law until the Supreme Court rules on whether it’s constitutional.
But the administration has forged ahead, spending at least $2.7 billion since oral arguments in the case ended on March 28. That’s more than double the amount that was handed out in the three-month period leading up to the arguments, according to a POLITICO review of funding announcements from the Department of Health and Human Services.
While much — if not all — of this funding was in the pipeline well before March, the timeline for handing out specific funds is not set in stone, which gives the agency leeway over the kinds of dollars it has been handing out.
And the stakes have increased as the date of a Supreme Court ruling approaches, because money that is spent won’t have to be repaid, most likely. But remaining funds will dry up if the court strikes down the law.
The court is expected to announce its decision next week.
The $2.7 billion includes grants and awards that have been handed out since the Supreme Court arguments — including more than $90 million in funds for health insurance cooperatives that HHS announced Friday afternoon.
By contrast, the administration gave out about $1 billion in grants, loans and other awards during the three months before the Supreme Court arguments. Keep on reading...

Global warming nuts want you to give up your air conditioning...

The truth is global warming nuts won't be happy until we return to the eighteenth century, with a corresponding reduction in the human population. Of course, the leaders of this movement will be exempted and still travel in private jets and limos while the rest of us hoof it.

Via The NYT:
Cooling of America's buildings and vehicles has the annual global-warming impact of almost half a billion metric tons of carbon dioxide. (Three-fourths of that is attributable to fossil fuels, the rest to refrigerants.) We consume more energy for residential air-conditioning than do all other countries combined, but that's about to change. Home-cooling demand worldwide is projected to increase tenfold before 2050, stimulated by rising incomes and rising temperatures in already-warm regions. Such staggering growth will swamp out efficiency gains, outstrip renewable energy and accelerate warming.

We must break this feedback loop, but what does one say to someone living in one of the tropical nations where much of the increase in cooling demand is expected? Surely not that Americans are addicted to air-conditioning and can’t give it up, but we expect Southeast Asians to get by without air-conditioners because they're used to the heat.

No, there's little we can say until we end our own society's dependence on lavish cooling. Doing that would be a good start, but addressing energy-hungry technologies one at a time won't achieve the greenhouse-gas cuts of as much as 80 percent that science says are necessary to prevent catastrophic warming. Only a per-person ceiling on overall emissions can accomplish that.

Interesting: Romney Vetting Rep. Paul Ryan

IMHO Paul Ryan would be a great choice. He would eat Bide alive in a debate.

Via NRO:
I’m reliably informed that Representative Paul Ryan of Wisconsin, the Budget Committee chairman, has submitted paperwork to the Romney campaign. Sources confirm that he is being vetted for the vice-presidential nomination.
Ryan, one of the GOP’s brightest young stars, is clearly a favorite of Romney allies. But some top Republican officials are wary of plucking him from the House, where he is the party’s most influential voice on fiscal issues.
Earlier this week, Romney campaigned with Ryan in Janesville, Wis., Ryan’s hometown. Ryan previously stumped for Romney in late March and early April, ahead of Wisconsin’s Republican presidential primary.
For their part, Ryan and his team remain mum on the issue, telling NRO: “Respecting their campaign’s internal process, we’re not going to comment.”

Nancy Pelosi: Obamacare won't work without mandate (video)

Nancy Pelosi is correct. Imagine is you allowed people to by auto insurance after they had a wreck and get their vehicles fixed.  Rates would have to skyrocket or they would go broke. The same is true for medical insurance. SCOTUS needs to strike down the entire law.

President Obama: Need some "some bottom-up economics."

President Obama has never been a businessman and has no clue how the economy grows and jobs are created. He believes we can distribute a large amount of money in very small amounts and the aggregate will somehow magically create jobs. Obama thinks if you give low income workers tax credits, extend unemployment and otherwise redistribute some of this countries wealth to lower income individuals, the economy will take off. The Stimulus contained much of this type of spending and unemployment was extended to 99 weeks. It didn't create a robust economy and job market. The truth is upper middle-class and rich people create most of the jobs in this country. They need two things to do this; capital and a willingness to risk it. The current climate of uncertainty over taxes on the wealthy and a massive expansion of anti-business regulation has put a damper on job creation. This will continue if Barack Obama is re-elected. Even if Obama pretends to evolve his anti-business position, upper middle-class and wealthy Americans will never trust him. The only solution is to throw Barack Obama and as many Democrats as possible out of office this November.
TAMPA, Fla., June 22 (UPI) — U.S. President Barack Obama told a campaign rally in Florida Friday the country needs “some middle class-out economics, some bottom-up economics.”
Speaking at Hillsborough Community College in Tampa, the president said the economy is growing, following the worst downturn since the Great Depression, “but it needs to grow faster.”
He said what’s holding back growth is “a stalemate between two fundamentally different views in Washington about which direction we should go in.” He told his audience Republicans, including presumptive presidential nominee Mitt Romney, “believe that we should go back to the top-down economics of the last decade.”
“They figure that if we simply eliminate regulations and cut taxes by trillions of dollars, then the market will solve all of our problems,” Obama said.

Predictable: New Greek Finance Minster Faints Shortly Before He Was To Take Oath Of Office

Vassilis Rapanos must have found out the real debt number...
ATHENS -- Incoming Greek finance minister Vassilis Rapanos was admitted to the hospital Friday, the government said, with unconfirmed reports saying the 65-year-old senior banker had fainted.

The chairman of leading Greek lender National Bank, Rapanos was taken to a private hospital in Athens, a government spokesman said, hours before he was expected to take his oath of office.

The hospital said Rapanos was brought in with "strong stomach pains, vertigo, nausea, sweating and fatigue."

Doctors have stabilized his condition and he is undergoing tests.

Rasmussen Daily Tracking: Romney +5 Over Obama

The polling numbers are only going to get worse for Obama. After 3.5 years as President, likely voters are not going to change their opinion of Obama. Many people still don't know much about Romney. He has upside potential in the polling. Team Obama knows this and has abandoned trying to change Independents and undecideds minds. They are instead focusing on motivating the base. President Obama's recent support for gay marriage and attempt to provide de facto amnesty to some illegals is evidence of Obama's change in re-election strategy. It won't work. No one will be more motivated to vote in 2012 than Conservatives.
(Rasmussen Reports)The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Friday shows Mitt Romney attracting 48% of the vote, while President Obama earns 43%. Six percent (6%) prefer some other candidate, and another three percent (3%) are undecided.
The president picks up support from just 35% of white voters overall. That’s eight points below the 43% of the white vote he won in 2008. Among white Democrats, 17% currently plan to vote for Romney.
Just 33% now believe the president is doing a good or excellent job when it comes to the economy. That’s down from 41% at the beginning of May.

Draft agenda for the Rio+20 climate change conference calls for economic “contraction” in major countries.

President Obama is already implementing this agenda in America...

Via Washington Examiner:
United Nations officials refuse to allow observers to read the draft agenda for the Rio+20 conference on climate change, after an earlier draft called for the economic “contraction” in major countries.
“It seems the UN has taken the final pre-conference draft and classified it!” Lord Monckton, a climate skeptic with the Center for a Constructive Tomorrow reported in an email. “We were promised transparency. This is unacceptable.”
A proposal within an earlier draft agenda for the conference called for the “contraction and convergence for over- and under-consumers of natural resources,” CFACT noted. Given President Obama’s oft-repeated statistic that the United States produces 2 percent of the world’s oil but uses 20 percent, this proposal would affect the American economy significantly.
“We aspire to nothing less than a global movement for generational change,” UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon said earlier this year.

Queen Nancy Pelosi: King Obama should unilaterally declare debt ceiling unconstitutional...

Nancy Pelosi views the Constitution and a really old piece of toilet paper...

Via Washington Examiner:
House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi, D-Calif., thinks that President Obama should unilaterally eliminate the debt ceiling, rather than negotiate with Congress to spend more money when the United States hits the debt ceiling later this year.
“I would like to see the Constitution used to protect the country’s full faith and credit, as the Constitution does,” Pelosi told reporters Wednesday. She was endorsing the idea that Obama should use the 14th Amendment — which states that “The validity of the public debt of the United States . . . shall not be questioned” — to circumvent House Republicans who want spending cuts in exchange for another debt ceiling hike.
“I think he should [declare the debt ceiling unconstitutional],” Pelosi said, though she wouldn’t predict Obama’s move. “I’m in a different branch of government. In the minority, in the House. What do I know about what the president’s going to do?”
Pelosi is in a different branch of government — the only one that has the authority to “borrow Money on the credit of the United States,” as Article 1, Section 8 of the Constitution establishes. And she is in the minority, which increases the likelihood that Obama will have to agree to spending cuts in order to get a debt-ceiling increase.

Jay Carney chewed out FOX News for anti-Obama 'Fox and Friends' video

I thought the video was very good.

Via HuffPo:
The White House made an “angry phone call” to Fox News about an instantly infamous video attacking President Obama on “Fox and Friends” last month, the New York Times reported on Thursday.
The show got in a boatload of trouble at the end of May when it aired the video, which used all of the grainy footage and foreboding music typical of opposition attack ads to hammer Obama’s record on the economy. After much criticism, Fox News took down the video and said it had not been authorized at senior levels.
While the network is quick to classify “Fox and Friends,” which has an unapologetically conservative slant, as an “entertainment” program, the Times wrote on Thursday that the White House was not amused. Tensions between the two sides, which neared a breaking point during the early days of the Obama administration, have cooled down, but, according to the paper, White House spokesman Jay Carney had a stern conversation with Michael Clemente, a top executive at Fox News about the video. Carney said that “Fox and Friends” had gone much too far.

U.N. Official suggests Obama may be guilty of "war crimes"

President Obama is the only Nobel Peace Prize winner with a kill list in his office.
(Guardian) — The US policy of using aerial drones to carry out targeted killings presents a major challenge to the system of international law that has endured since the second world war, a United Nations investigator has said.

Christof Heyns, the UN special rapporteur on extrajudicial killings, summary or arbitrary executions, told a conference in Geneva that President Obama’s attacks in Pakistan, Yemen and elsewhere, carried out by the CIA, would encourage other states to flout long-established human rights standards.

In his strongest critique so far of drone strikes, Heyns suggested some may even constitute “war crimes”. His comments come amid rising international unease over the surge in killings by remotely piloted unmanned aerial vehicles (UAVs).

Addressing the conference, which was organised by the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), a second UN rapporteur, Ben Emmerson QC, who monitors counter-terrorism, announced he would be prioritising inquiries into drone strikes.

Interesting: SCOTUS Unanimously Supports Wardrobe Malfunctions

The Supreme Court gave  broadcast television networks a big win. The next time a breast accidentally pops out on national TV, they won't be fined.
Washington (CNN) -- Broadcast television networks won an important constitutional fight Thursday when the Supreme Court said government regulators imposed unfair punishment for isolated profanity and sexual content during evening "prime time" hours.

In an 8-0 vote, justices concluded the Federal Communications Commission cannot enforce its current policies against "fleeting" expletives and nudity on over-the-air programs, both live and scripted. The agency had levied hefty fines on all four major broadcasters beginning nearly a decade ago.

The court's ruling was narrow, as the justices declined to address whether the regulations violate free-speech protections guaranteed under the First Amendment. But it does establish important guidelines the government must follow when monitoring explicit content on the airwaves.

"The commission failed to give Fox or ABC fair notice prior to the broadcasts in question that fleeting expletives and momentary nudity could be found actionably indecent," Justice Anthony Kennedy wrote for the majority.

Confirmed: Michigan is a toss up

If Obama loses Michigan, it will be a Romney landslide...

Via The Hill:
President Obama and Mitt Romney are statistically tied in Michigan, according to a poll from Mitchell Research released on Thursday.

Obama leads Romney 47 percent to 46 in the poll, which has a 3.5 percent margin of error. It’s the fourth poll in June to show the candidates neck and neck in the Wolverine State, which has swung reliably Democratic in recent elections and where Obama was up by double digits as recently as mid-May.

The Obama administration spent $10 billion to create 355 permanent green energy jobs

An additional 3,666 temporary construction jobs were created. Even if you include the temporary construction jobs, it comes to about $2.5 million per job.

Via WFB:
The Obama administration spent $10 billion to create 355 renewable energy jobs per year, according to testimony offered Tuesday before Congress by a Congressional Research Services expert.
Asked by Rep. Cory Gardner (R., Colo.) “how many jobs were created” in 2009 and 2010 under the 1603 renewable energy grant program authorized by the Obama administration, a CRS specialist in public finance admitted that $10 billion was spent to create 3,666 construction jobs over a two-year period — and only 355 jobs per year going forward.
Dr. Molly Sherlock, the CRS specialist, first said the jobs total would depend on the type of job — and differentiated between “induced,” “direct,” and “indirect” jobs — before Gardner asked for a straight number.
“I just want to know how many jobs were created,” Gardner said during the hearing.
“If you’re looking at the direct jobs, this one estimate has direct jobs created at 3,666 in the construction phase, and direct jobs created at 355,” Sherlock said. “Direct jobs would just be the construction jobs and the ongoing operations and maintenance jobs. But if you wanted to look at the supporting jobs in other industries then you’d want to look at the other figures.”
