New NRSC Ad Gives Harry Reid "A Dose of Reality"

Obvious: Demos vote money to Planned Parenthood; Planned Parenthood spends to elect demos..

Back scratching...

Via Politico:
The political arm of Planned Parenthood is preparing to launch its largest campaign offensive ever, targeting more than a dozen states and some of the cycle’s top Senate and gubernatorial races to raise the alarm about the stakes of the 2014 midterm elections for women’s health care and abortion rights.
The cost of the midterm campaign is expected to cross the $18 million mark, including $2.4 million the group spent in 2013 for Virginia’s off-year governor’s race, officials with the group said. That investment would make the Planned Parenthood Action Fund and Planned Parenthood Votes — the national federation’s political entities — two of the heaviest outside spenders on the Democratic side, and certainly among the top independent expenditure campaigns focused on reaching women.
With Democrats increasingly reliant on their yawning advantage with women voters in recent years — and state and national Republicans repeatedly taking aim at Planned Parenthood as a prominent abortion services provider — the group has rapidly become a vital part of the roundtable of left-of-center groups plotting the Democratic coalition’s electoral strategy.

RINO Rep. Peter King Now Supports Immigration Reform And Amnesty...

Geez. King's district was redrawn to include more Hispanics. Now, he has changed his tune on immigration reform. RINO's have no core values.

Via NY Times:
Who says old politicians can’t reinvent themselves, jettison long-held beliefs and emerge from ideological cocoons, fresh as butterflies?
Representative Peter King, who is about to turn 70, showed up on Friday night for a town-hall meeting in a Hispanic corner of his Long Island district. He brought his big smile and pompadour, looking every bit the guy who has been a fixture of Republican politics in suburban New York since the ’70s, but he sounded like someone completely different.
His hosts were mostly Spanish-speaking immigrants, invited by a nonprofit community organization, Make the Road New York. More than 150 people crammed into the room, quieting their babies and cellphones, eager to hear what their “congresista” had to say about immigration reform.
Oil, meet water. Mr. King is a combative right-winger who spent the last decade opposing efforts to reform immigration laws. This night, though, he presented himself as the proud holder of another point of view.
“I’ve had real issues with the whole concept of having a large number of illegal immigrants coming into the country,” he acknowledged. But he also said that he now supported the Republicans’ recently released — and almost immediately shelved — “principles” for immigration reform, including legalization for 11 million people. He said the odds of reform passing the House this year were not good, given the election and the power of the Tea Party to make primaries difficult for immigration moderates. But he made clear that he wished it were otherwise.
What changed?
Mr. King’s heart, maybe. His district, definitely. Mr. King lives in Seaford, hamlet on the South Shore of Long Island that is 95 percent white, and has, for years, solidly represented the interests of the white, conservative middle class. But his redrawn 2nd Congressional District extends east to enfold heavily black and Hispanic enclaves like Brentwood and Central Islip. While Mr. King’s re-election this year seems a lock, 2016 may be harder, and he has been out getting to know his new friends.

Liar: Harry reid claims Obamacare “horror stories...all are untrue.”

The Weekly Standard reported:
Harry Reid spoke about the Obamacare “horror stories” on the Senate floor this morning. He said that “all are untrue.”
“Despite all that good news, there’s plenty of horror stories being told. All of them are untrue, but they’re being told all over America,” said Reid.
“The leukemia patient whose insurance policy was canceled [and] could die without her medication, Mr. President, that’s an ad being paid for by two billionaire brothers. It’s absolutely false. Or the woman whose insurance policy went up $700 a month–ads paid for around America by the multibillionaire Koch brothers, and the ad is false.

Greenpeace co-founder: No evidence man is contributing to climate change

Liberal heads explode in 3...2...1...

Via FOX News:
A co-founder of Greenpeace told lawmakers there is no evidence man is contributing to climate change, and said he left the group when it became more interested in politics than the environment.
Patrick Moore, a Canadian ecologist and business consultant who was a member of Greenpeace from 1971-86, told members of the Senate Environment and Public Works Committee environmental groups like the one he helped establish use faulty computer models and scare tactics in promoting claims man-made gases are heating up the planet.
“There is no scientific proof that human emissions of carbon dioxide (CO2) are the dominant cause of the minor warming of the Earth’s atmosphere over the past 100 years,” he said.
It's a shame the fake global warming focus has diverted us from using rescources to combat real pollution and environmental issues.

Your Obamacare navigator might have been a terrorist...

Background checks for navigators is sounding pretty good right now. Sadly, democrats have fought this common sense proposal.

Via National Review:
A terrorist from Jordan briefly worked as an Obamacare navigator in Illinois while authorities remained unaware of her conviction for involvement in a deadly grocery store bombing and two other attacks.
Rasmieh Yousef Odeh was convicted in Israel for her role in several bombings, including the 1969 attack on an upscale Shufersol grocery store, which killed two Hebrew University students who had stopped in to buy groceries for a hiking trip in the Jerusalem hills. Leon Kanner and Eddie Joffe were killed by a bomb hidden in a candy box tucked on a shelf, which also injured nine or 10 others, according to a website maintained by the Israeli government to commemorate terror victims.
The Illinois Department of Insurance quietly revoked Odeh’s certification as a Navigator In-Person Counselor on November 24, explaining in a disciplinary report that the decision was “based on an investigation which revealed that she had been convicted in Israel for her role in the bombings of a supermarket and the British Consulate in Jerusalem and failed to reveal the conviction on her application.”

Strange Tweet of the Day: FLOTUS Raps...

Strange: Leading Senate Democratic Candidate in Texas Compares Obama To Hitler...

She is a racist! Oh, she is democrat. Never mind.

Via Noah Rothman:
In what has to be a blow for Democratic partisans who were convinced that state Sen. Wendy Davis (D-Fort Worth) can single-handedly turn the Lone Star State blue in November, the Texas Democratic Party appears to be on the verge of tarnishing its reputation. According to a poll conducted by the University of Texas and the Texas Tribune, the frontrunner to face likely incumbent Sen. John Cornyn (R-TX) in November is Kesha Rogers. She is also somewhat… unhinged.
Originally flagged by HotAir’s Guy Benson, the poll shows Rogers leading her nearest opponent in the race to face Cornyn, Dallas area dentist David Alameel, by 8 points – outside the poll’s 6.04 percent margin of error.
But Democrats might be careful what they wish for…
“As an acolyte of perennial presidential fringe candidate Lyndon LaRouche, she believes the U.S. economy is secretly controlled by a cabal of London financial institutions,” wrote Dallas Morning News reporter Nick Swartsell in December. “She’s paraded around Houston with a giant picture of Obama sporting a Hitler mustache and compared the Affordable Care Act to 1930s-era Nazi eugenics policies.”

Demo Gov. calls for cancelling Super Bowl in Arizona if they pass religious freedom law...

It's a shame Arizona even needs to pass such a law. If the courts had any common sense, this wouldn't be necessary.

Via Politico:
If Arizona Gov. Jan Brewer allows a controversial bill letting businesses refuse to serve gay customers to become law, the NFL should consider moving the 2015 Super Bowl, Delaware Gov. Jack Markell said Monday.
“If they pass this law and if she signs it, it would seem to me that the NFL may be looking, or should be looking, to move the Super Bowl out of that state,” Markell said on MSNBC’s new “Ronan Farrow Daily” show. “Because, you know, there’s so many places around the country that are welcoming to everybody.”
Markell was speaking with Farrow from the White House after meeting with the president and other governors in town for the National Governors Association meeting. Also present at the meeting was Brewer, who hasn’t yet said what she will do with the bill, which passed the state Legislature last week. If she doesn’t sign it within five days of its delivery to her office, it will become law automatically.

John Boehner to be ousted by next January?

According to Rep. Louie Gohmert:
One of the tea-party leaders in Congress believes the days of Rep. John Boehner, R-Ohio, as speaker of the House of Representatives are numbered... Rep. Louie Gohmert, R-Texas, ... predicts Boehner will no longer be speaker “by next January,” regardless of the outcome of the midterm election in November.

The Texan doesn’t think it will take a coup to remove Boehner, believing the tide is already moving in that direction, and saying, “I think people are ready for a change.”

And Gohmert would see that as a change for the better, because, he says, “We’ve got to have someone who is smart enough to realize” it was (Sen. Majority Leader) Harry Reid (D-Nev.) who shut down the government, not the GOP.

House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer Tells Dems They Can't Hide from Obamacare...

Own it...

Via Washington Examiner:
House Minority Whip Steny Hoyer, D-Md., reminded vulnerable Democrats that they can’t “hide” from the Affordable Care Act in the 2014 elections, after a fundraising trip on behalf of one colleague whose allies portrayed her as an Obamacare whistleblower in a recent campaign ad.
“The Affordable Care Act is ours,” Hoyer told the Arizona Republic. “You’re not going to hide. You’re not going to duck. It is ours. We promoted it. We believe in it. Sell it. It is good for the country. It is good for Arizona.”
He had a chance to give that advice to Rep. Ann Kirkpatrick, D-Ariz., in person, if she cared to hear it. “Hoyer was in the state last week for a fundraiser” for Kirkpatrick and Rep. Kyrsten Sinema, D-Ariz. “He told the Republic that Obama’s 2010 health-care reform law, despite its rocky rollout, will be a boon for them and other House Democrats who might face vigorous re-election challenges this year.”

Obvious: Colorado welfare recipients withdrawing cash at weed shop ATM's

High times...

Via NRO:
During the first month of Colorado’s experiment with legal marijuana, welfare beneficiaries withdrew thousands of dollars in public-assistance cash from ATMs at weed shops, according to records obtained by National Review Online.
At least 64 times, public-assistance benefits were accessed at businesses selling marijuana. A total of $5,475 in public benefits was withdrawn at ATMs in establishments that sell pot. This figure includes medicinal dispensaries, recreational stores and at least one place that combines the two. Some of these establishments sell groceries as well as pot, so there is no way to know exactly how much welfare money was spent on marijuana.
The amounts withdrawn ranged from $20 to $400, averaging $85.55, according to the transaction records. In Colorado, the average household receiving Temporary Assistance for Needy Families (TANF) benefits includes one adult and two children, and the maximum monthly benefit for them is $462.

Feel Good Story: “Piers Morgan Live” Is Ending...

The end is near...

Via The NYT:
There have been times when the CNN host Piers Morgan didn’t seem to like America very much — and American audiences have been more than willing to return the favor. Three years after taking over for Larry King, Mr. Morgan has seen the ratings for “Piers Morgan Live” hit some new lows, drawing a fraction of viewers compared with competitors at Fox News and MSNBC.
It’s been an unhappy collision between a British television personality who refuses to assimilate — the only football he cares about is round and his lectures on guns were rife with contempt — and a CNN audience that is intrinsically provincial. After all, the people who tune into a cable news network are, by their nature, deeply interested in America.[...]
Crossing an ocean for a replacement for Larry King, who had ratings problems of his own near the end, was probably not a great idea to begin with. For a cable news station like CNN, major stories are like oxygen. When something important or scary happens in America, many of us have an immediate reflex to turn on CNN. When I find Mr. Morgan telling me what it all means, I have a similar reflex to dismiss what he is saying. It is difficult for him to speak credibly on significant American events because, after all, he just got here.
I received a return call from Mr. Morgan and was prepared for an endless argument over my assumptions. Not so. His show, he conceded, was not performing as he had hoped and was nearing its end.

AARP's Medicare Advantage Insurer: Obamacare will cause them to “reduce benefits and pull back access”

UnitedHealthcare is the Medicare Advantage insurance pimped by AARP on their website; for a profit no doubt. Someone tell me again why the AARP betrayed seniors by supporting Obamacare.

Via The Daily Caller:
UnitedHealth Group is already dropping thousands of doctors from Medicare Advantage plans in the hope that the doctors’ expensive patients will also leave their UnitedHealth plans. UnitedHealth’s CEO told his investors early last year that the Affordable Care Act would force the company to “reduce benefits and pull back access” for consumers.
Obamacare, which raids $300 billion from the privately run Medicare Advantage program, is squarely to blame. The cuts will begin affecting many seniors in 2014 and also mandates new Medicare Advantage rate reductions.

Susan Rice: "nobody in the Obama administration intended to mislead the American people" about Benghazi attack

Susan Rice has no credibility and no regrets...

Via Politico:
National Security Adviser Susan Rice said Sunday that she has no regrets about her now-infamous round of TV interviews in 2012 about the Benghazi attacks.
Rice, appearing on “Meet the Press,” said that nobody in the Obama administration intended to mislead the American people when she appeared on Fox, ABC, CNN, NBC and CBS in 2012 shortly after the attacks.
Asked by host David Gregory if she had any regrets about those five television interviews she did shortly after the Benghazi attacks, Rice replied: “No.”
“Because what I said to you that morning, and what I did every day since, was to share the best information that we had at the time,” Rice said. “The information I provided, which I explained to you, was what we had at the moment.  It could change.  I commented that this was based on what we knew on that morning, was provided to me and my colleagues, and indeed, to Congress, by the intelligence community.  And that’s been well validated in many different ways since.”
“And that information turned out, in some respects, not to be 100 percent correct.  But the notion that somehow I or anybody else in the administration misled the American people is patently false.  And I think that that’s been amply demonstrated,” Rice said.

September 2013: Rep. Paul Ryan claims, “Shutting down the government puts us on the wrong side. The fight is on the debt limit.”

When the Republican leadership caved on funding the government, they told us the real fight would be on the debt ceiling. They caved on it without any fight at all. Republicans need new leaders.
“We go right to the debt-ceiling fight, and that’s where the real battle is, we feel,” said Representative John Fleming. “It’s kind of like the follow-up plan, assuming that [the CR] fails. . . . The real fight will be on the debt ceiling.”
House budget chairman Paul Ryan also urged colleagues to wage the more serious fight over the debt ceiling. “We have to stay on the right side of public opinion,” he told his colleagues. “Shutting down the government puts us on the wrong side. The fight is on the debt limit.”
In exchange for a debt-ceiling increase, Cantor told colleagues, the GOP will issue a litany of demands, including a one-year delay of Obamacare, construction of the Keystone pipeline, an anti-regulatory bill called the REINS Act, and other spending reforms. The exact combination will be negotiated with President Obama and Reid.

“Emily, I want you to envision an inner city child,” Vilsack said to Emily Oakley, interim director of the National Young Farmer Coalition. “Could be African American, could be Hispanic, could be Native American, Asian, whatever, a minority. You’re talking to that child.
“That child doesn’t even know what a tomato is much less what you are talking about,” Vilsack said. “I want you to convince that kid that he ought to think about farming.”

"Warmist" now claiming global warming will cause more murders, rapes, robberies, assaults…

Bullsh*t...

Via LA Times:
A new study broadens a notion held by the earliest criminologists: Periods of higher temperatures — on an hour-by-hour or week-to-week basis — are likely to produce more crime.
The study by Matthew Ranson of Abt Associates, a research and consulting firm in Cambridge, Mass., suggests global warming will trigger more crimes including murders and rapes over the next century, with social costs estimated to run as high as $115 billion.
Between 2010 and 2099, climate change can be expected to cause an additional 22,000 murders, 180,000 cases of rape, 1.2 million aggravated assaults, 2.3 million simple assaults, 260,000 robberies, 1.3 million burglaries, 2.2 million cases of larceny and 580,000 cases of vehicle theft, the study published this week in the Journal of Environmental Economics and Management says.
Compared with the number of crimes expected to occur during this period in the absence of climate change, these figures represent a 2.2% increase in murders, a 3.1% increase in cases of rape, a 2.3% increase in aggravated assaults, a 1.2% increase in simple assaults, a 1% increase in robberies, a 0.9% increase in burglaries, a 0.5% increase in cases of larceny and a 0.8% increase in cases of vehicle theft, the study says.

Pentagon looking into electrical brain stimulation for soldiers...

Hmm...

Via Boston Globe
For some modern soldiers, caffeine is just not enough to stay vigilant, especially for the growing ranks of digital warriors who must spend hours monitoring spy drone footage and other streams of surveillance data.
So the Pentagon is exploring a novel way to extend troops’ attention spans and sharpen their reaction times: stimulate the brain with low levels of electricity.
It sounds like science fiction, but commanders in search of more effective tools than the ubiquitous cups of coffee and energy drinks are testing medical treatments designed to treat such brain disorders as depression to determine whether they can also improve the attentiveness of sleepdeprived but otherwise healthy troops.
Early experiments using “noninvasive” brain stimulation have been performed on several dozen volunteers at the Air Force Research Laboratory at Wright-Patterson Air Force Base in Ohio. The results show the technique improves both alertness and acuity, researchers say.

Nutty Muslim clerics issue fatwa against living on Mars...

Well, if they want to go there and stone someone to death, Mars has plenty of rocks...
A Fatwa has been issued against living on Mars by clerics who say that trying to live there would be un-Islamic.

The fatwa – or ruling – was issued by the General Authority of Islamic Affairs and Endowment (GAIAE) in the UAE after the Mars One organisation announced that it would try and establish a permanent human settlement on Mars.
The committee argued that trying to dwell on the planet would be so hazardous as to be suicidal and killing oneself is not permitted by Islam.

This card agreement forces the user to pretty much give all their rights and protection. I canceled my Capital One backed store card. You have to check the backs of those cards closely to identify who the bank really is. Capital One bought out the card from a different bank recently. DHS warns airlines shoe bomber 2 may be on the way...

What? The necked scanning machines won't keep us safe?  Let's hope shoe bomber 2 is as inept as shoe bomber 1.

Via NBC News
The Department of Homeland Security on Wednesday told airlines about a potential new shoe-bomb threat and urged them to pay extra attention to flights from overseas into the United States.
Several officials familiar with the advisory told NBC News that "very recent intelligence" considered credible warns of possible attempts to attack passenger jets using explosives concealed in shoes.
As a result, officials say, airlines will be playing extra attention to passenger shoes on flights to the US from overseas. Those passengers may also experience increased scrutiny in pat downs and full-body screening.
The bulletin to airlines urges screeners to use the explosive trace detection swabs to check shoes that are worn and in carry-on bags.

Obama's EO raising minimum wage on federal contracts is unconstitutional...

But will anyone do anything about it? GOP leaders in Congress are mostly spineless and the Supreme Court is led by constitutional traitor John Roberts.

Via NRO:
The president issued an executive order last week purporting to raise the minimum wage for employees of federal contractors to $10.10 an hour. The order is unconstitutional.
The Supreme Court made clear in Youngstown Sheet and Tube Co. v. Sawyer that “the President’s power, if any, to issue the [executive] order must stem either from an act of Congress or from the Constitution itself.” Furthermore, “when the president takes measures incompatible with the expressed or implied will of Congress, his power is at its lowest ebb, for then he can rely only upon his own constitutional powers minus any constitutional powers of Congress over the matter.”
Nothing in the Constitution grants the president authority to set or raise the minimum wage independently of an act of Congress. Furthermore, although the president generally has authority to improve the efficient discharge of federal contracts, the president’s minimum-wage order is incompatible with the expressed and implied will of Congress.
Congress has made its will regarding the minimum wage for federal contractors abundantly clear in four separate statutes: The Service Contract Act, the Davis Bacon Act, the Walsh-Healey Act, and the Fair Labor Standards Act...

Former Bill Clinton sexual target blames Hillary: ‘She enabled his behavior,’

John Kerry compares CAGW skeptics to "Flat Earthers;" doesn't know president of Flat Earth Society is a global warming believer.

CAGW skeptics get compared to Flat Earth Society members again...
JAKARTA, Indonesia — Climate change may be the world’s “most fearsome” weapon of mass destruction and urgent global action is needed to combat it, U.S. Secretary of State John Kerry said on Sunday, comparing those who deny its existence or question its causes to people who insist the Earth is flat.
In a speech to Indonesian students, civic leaders and government officials in Jakarta, Kerry laid into climate change skeptics, accusing them of using shoddy science and scientists to delay measures needed to reduce emissions of greenhouse gases at the risk of imperiling the planet. He also went after those who dispute who is responsible for such emissions, arguing that everyone and every country must take responsibility and act immediately.
John Kerry must not know the president of the actual  Flat Earth Society is a global warming believer.
But the Flat Earth Society is a real group, and its president says he believes climate change is real. He also doesn't like being used as an example of backward thinking on the issue.
"For what it's worth, the Flat Earth Society doesn't have an 'official' position on climate change. That falls a bit outside our remit," Flat Earth Soceity President Daniel Shenton told Business Insider in an email from England.
"Personally, though, I believe the evidence available does support the position that climate change is at least partially influenced by human industrialization."
The president of the Flat Earth Society believes in anthropogenic global warming and doesn't want to be used as an example of backward thinking. I am speechless.

NY loses 2000 new Remington Arms jobs

Remington is expanding in the gun-friendly state of Alabama...

Via WIBX
News sources in Alabama reported on Saturday that an announcement will be made on Monday confirming that Remington Arms is building a new 500,000 square-foot plant in that state and the $87 (m) million dollar investment will mean about 2000 jobs.
Alabama’s Yellowhammer, Military Times and AL.com have reported that some of the jobs will be coming from Remington’s birthplace, Ilion, where some 1300 jobs remain.
The Yellowhammer quotes an inside anonymous source at Remington who claims that the Ilion plant will remain open, but with a ‘reduced workforce.’
Governor Cuomo’s spokesman, Rich Azzopardi used Twitter on Saturday night to dispute that, by saying, “…to be clear, no Remington jobs are leaving New York.”

Michigan high school students get "Who's the baby's daddy" homework assignment

The assignment said:
“The sister of the mom above also had issues with finding out who the father of her baby was. She had the state take a blood test of potential fathers. Based on the information in this table, why was the baby taken away by the state after the test?”
Possible answers in the multiple-choice question suggested the father could have been the cable guy, the mailman, the cab driver, the bartender or a guy she met at a club.

Update: The Socialist Paradise Of Venezuela Has Major Issues...

Liberals fail to recognize Socialism is a bad plan. They just think it isn't being implemented well. The latest country to poorly implement Socialism is Venezuela.

Via Daily Beast:
“I want to get out of here. I want to leave this country as soon as possible and never come back.”
The text from my friend Luis surprised me. A lawyer by training, he got his masters in urban planning from an elite Manhattan university, and had returned to Venezuela full of hope. He was hired by a local NGO working on poverty abatement issues. But now, he’s fed up.
“Nothing works. There are lines to buy everything. Prices have gone through the roof. You can’t go out at night for fear of getting shot. If you want to get married, finding a place to live is impossible. The country has become unlivable.”
Luis’s story is a depressingly common one on the streets of Venezuela’s major urban centers. The nation’s young people are tired of enduring one of the world’s highest inflation rates, highest murder rates, scarcity of basic staples like toilet paper, and the near certainty that things are going to get worse before they get better. A few days ago, the Associated Press reported on Venezuelans camping on the sidewalk to get information about emigrating to Ireland.

One in four Americans are completely unfamiliar with Nicolaus Copernicus's 1543 theory that the Earth circles the Sun, according to a study by the National Science Foundation.
The survey, released on Friday at an annual meeting of the American Association for the Advancement of Science, asked 2,200 people nine factual questions about physical and biological science, with the average score being just 5.8 correct answers.
The question - "Does the Earth go around the Sun, or does the Sun go around the Earth" - was answered incorrectly by 26 per cent of respondents.

NSA spied on lawyers representing foreign countries in economic disputes...

NSA spying isn't about al Qaeda. It's about government control.

Via The NYT:

The list of those caught up in the global surveillance net cast by the National Security Agency and its overseas partners, from social media users to foreign heads of state, now includes another entry: American lawyers.
A top-secret document, obtained by the former N.S.A. contractor Edward J. Snowden, shows that an American law firm was monitored while representing a foreign government in trade disputes with the United States. The disclosure offers a rare glimpse of a specific instance in which Americans were ensnared by the eavesdroppers, and is of particular interest because lawyers in the United States with clients overseas have expressed growing concern that their confidential communications could be compromised by such surveillance.
The government of Indonesia had retained the law firm for help in trade talks, according to the February 2013 document. It reports that the N.S.A.’s Australian counterpart, the Australian Signals Directorate, notified the agency that it was conducting surveillance of the talks, including communications between Indonesian officials and the American law firm, and offered to share the information.

Socialized Medicine Update: Allegations of children illegally euthanized in Great Britain...

This is the medical system Obamacare supporters really wanted...
British doctors have secretly killed terminally sick children by giving them 'huge' overdoses of painkillers, it was claimed yesterday.
Hours after Belgium became the first country in the world to allow the euthanasia of children, a retired GP suggested it was already happening, informally, in Britain.
Dr Michael Irwin told an LBC Radio debate: 'It has happened in this country, very quietly. I know of one or two children over the last few years.'
He added: 'It has been done under the pretext of what we call Double Effect where the child has been given huge doses of painkillers and so on, in order to relieve discomfort, pain and other symptoms.'
Jeremy Hunt, the Health Secretary, last night vowed to investigate but said he was not aware of specific cases.

Heroes: Tennessee Volkswagen workers slap down the UAW...

Unbelievably, Volkswagen was supporting the UAW unionization drive. The reason is thought to be related to politics in Germany. Unions are very powerful in most European governments.  Volkswagen used to have a plant in the us near Pittsburgh. It closed in 1988 in large part because militant UAW workers called too many strikes and walkouts.
CHATTANOOGA, Tenn. (AP) — Workers at a Volkswagen factory in Tennessee have voted against union representation, a devastating loss that derails the United Auto Workers union’s effort to organize Southern factories.
The 712-626 vote released late Friday stunned many labor experts who expected a UAW win because Volkswagen tacitly endorsed the union and even allowed organizers into the Chattanooga factory to make sales pitches.
The UAW for decades has tried without success to organize a foreign-owned plant in a region that’s wary of organized labor. The loss now makes it even harder for the union to recruit members at another Southern factory.

Vindicated: Rep. Joe Wilson was right about illegal aliens and Obamacare...

Don't expect to see this story in the mainstream media.

Via Breitbart:
In 2009, Rep. Joe Wilson (R-SC) apologized profusely to the White House for shouting, “You lie!” as President Barack Obama told Congress that Obamacare would not cover illegal immigrants. Now it would appear that the White House owes Wilson an apology, as Covered California–the flagship of state Obamacare exchanges–is recruiting illegal (“undocumented”) immigrants to sign up for the program, regardless of their eligibility.
The Covered California website includes a special page entitled: “No temas si eres indocumentado/a y quieres inscribir a tu familia en un seguro médico” (“Fear not if you are undocumented and want to enroll your family in health insurance”). The website goes on to explain that information shared with Obamacare cannot be shared with Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE). It does not explicitly warn that illegal aliens are ineligible.
“According to the laws and implementing regulations,” the website says, “the information provided by individuals for coverage can not be used for purposes other than ensuring the efficient functioning of the insurance market ( Covered California) or administration of the program, or to verify certain eligibility determinations including verification of the immigration status of these people.”

Apparently, Queen Michelle needs another vacation...

It's tough being the 1%...

Via NY Post:
First Lady Michelle Obama apparently halted private-jet traffic at Aspen airport as she landed for a weekend of skiing while President Obama headed to California.
Michelle, with her daughters, Sasha and Malia, was expected to touch down in Aspen Friday to spend Valentine’s Day and Presidents Day weekend away from her husband, who was meeting late Friday with Jordan’s King Abdullah II in Rancho Mirage, Calif.
Mrs. Obama’s arrival amid tight security was expected to delay the arrival of other wealthy vacationers on private jets at the Colorado ski resort. One source said, “Some of those heading into Aspen were whining that they’re shutting the airport for an hour so nobody can get in on their private jets on a high travel day.” The weather in New York and in Aspen caused further delays. The White House did not get back to us about the first lady’s arrival.

One in five haven't paid for Obamacare?

Geez...

Via NRO:
While the Obama administration still can’t say how many Obamacare enrollees have actually completed the enrollment process by paying their premiums, data from industry executives indicate that about one in five have missed the deadline to pay and so do not have coverage.
The New York Times reports that people failed to pay in many cases despite deadlines that were extended at the urging of the administration and aggressive efforts by insurance companies to follow up. “I think people are enrolling in multiple places,” Mark Bertolini, Aetna’s CEO, said in a conference call. “They are shopping. And what happens is that they never really get back on HealthCare.gov to disenroll from plans they prior enrolled in.” Aetna says that about one third of people who signed up for its plans failed to pay.

Who is up for the Army mining their Twitter feed?

Our government views social media as an intelligence gold mine.
The Army wants a contractor to conduct detailed social media data mining to “identify violent extremist influences” around the world that could affect the European Command, responsible for operations in Europe as well as Iceland, Israel, Greenland and Russia.
Though the project is classified Secret, an Army contract shop in Europe posted a wealth of information on the FedBizOps contract website Tuesday.
The data mining contract, which has the very long title of “Social Media Data-mining, Localized Research, Market Audience Analysis, and Narrowcast Engagement Requirements,” will support both the European Command and Special Operations Command Europe.
In its request for information, the Army said it wants a contractor to “provide detailed social media research and analysis, on-the-ground native research and analysis, and customized social media website development and execution.”  This will include open source information, “detailed social media data-mining, social media monitoring and analysis, target audience analysis, media kit development and social media platform operations.”

Flashback to 2008: Candidate Obama Says, ‘I Intend to Reverse’ Using Executive Orders

Connecticut gun owners refusing to comply with law requiring registration of assault-looking weapons...

That's because they know confiscation may soon come after registration.

The Courant reported:
Everyone knew there would be some gun owners flouting the law that legislators hurriedly passed last April, requiring residents to register all military-style rifles with state police by Dec. 31.
But few thought the figures would be this bad.
By the end of 2013, state police had received 47,916 applications for assault weapons certificates, Lt. Paul Vance said. An additional 2,100 that were incomplete could still come in.
That 50,000 figure could be as little as 15 percent of the rifles classified as assault weapons owned by Connecticut residents, according to estimates by people in the industry, including the Newtown-based National Shooting Sports Foundation. No one has anything close to definitive figures, but the most conservative estimates place the number of unregistered assault weapons well above 50,000, and perhaps as high as 350,000.
And that means as of Jan. 1, Connecticut has very likely created tens of thousands of newly minted criminals — perhaps 100,000 people, almost certainly at least 20,000 — who have broken no other laws. By owning unregistered guns defined as assault weapons, all of them are committing Class D felonies.

We now have proof Obama lied about not knowing about HealthCare.gov’s problems

Well, we knew Obama was a liar. We just needed some evidence on this one.
While Sebelius has said the president was not aware of HealthCare.gov’s problems, more than 750 pages of documents obtained by The Hill through a Freedom of Information Act request show she made scores of visits to the White House.
The documents reveal that Sebelius met with or attended calls and events with Obama at least 18 times between Oct. 27, 2012, and Oct. 6, 2013, including at least seven instances in which the two were scheduled to discuss the new healthcare law, according to the secretary’s draft schedules.
She had breakfast or lunch with Pete Rouse, considered one of Obama’s closest advisers, at least three times. Moreover, Sebelius had scheduled calls or meetings with Valerie Jarrett, an Obama confidante, and White House chief of staff Denis McDonough…
The schedules suggest Sebelius was an active White House presence in the months leading up to the botched rollout, and raise new questions about why Obama wouldn’t have known about the problems that were exposed on Oct. 1.

Sen. Mike Lee is trying to put the work requirement back into welfare...

Sen. Mike Lee will be called an extremist and racist in 3...2...1...

Via The DC
Utah Republican Sen. Mike Lee is trying to get more work into welfare.
On Wednesday, Lee introduced a bill that would restore the monthly work requirements for food stamps that President Obama suspended in 2009 with the stimulus. Lee’s legislation will also attempt to get control over welfare spending and provide more transparency by placing caps on annual means-tested program spending and requiring states to report spending levels.
“Poverty is not just the absence of money, but also the absence of opportunity,” Lee said. “Today’s poverty programs place artificial restraints on those who are trying to get ahead, build careers and provide better lives for themselves and their families. Successful welfare programs are those that make poverty more temporary, not more tolerable, and we need to move current policy in that direction.”
The “Welfare Reform and Upward Mobility Act” is currently cosponsored by Texas Republican Sen. Ted Cruz, Louisiana Republican Sen. David Vitter, and Oklahoma Republican Sen. Jim Inhofe.
Ohio Republican Rep. Jim Jordan has a companion bill in the House.
“It’s sad to see one of the two major parties step over the line and say it’s good when people work less,” Jordan said Monday of the effort to bring more work to welfare, arguing Democrats have embraced a work less approach to assistance.

Michael Sam’s father on his son coming out gay: Deacon Jones “is turning over in his grave,”

Michael Sam informed his father he was gay by sending a text message? What a douchebag.

Via TPM
Michael Sam’s father is struggling to cope with the news that his son is gay.
The All-American defensive end came out to his teammates at Missouri last August, but didn’t inform his parents until last week.
Michael Sam Sr. said his son sent him a text message that said, “Dad, I’m gay.”
The elder Sam told the New York Times that he was floored by the text.
“I couldn’t eat no more, so I went to Applebee’s to have drinks,” Sam Sr. told the Times. “I don’t want my grandkids raised in that kind of environment.”
While he hopes his son makes it to the NFL, Sam Sr. made it clear that he’s uncomfortable with the idea of an openly gay player competing in the league. Deacon Jones, the legendary former pass rusher, “is turning over in his grave,” Sam Sr. said.

Firing 103 rounds and gunning down an innocent elderly lady does not appear to be a suspending offense for police...

The police were freaked out searching for cop-killer Christopher Dorner. Dorner was reportedly driving a charcoal Nissan Titan pickup truck. The two unarmed women delivering newspapers were driving a blue Toyota Tacoma pickup truck. Police shot at them 103 times. One was shot in the back. They will not be held accountable in any meaningful way. This is why I do not support the police anymore. They are lawless.

Via Jonathan Turley:
A Commission has now completed its investigation of the officers and found that the officers were not at serious fault in trying to kill two innocent unarmed women and unleashing a wall of lead on a vehicle.
The Commission found that the officers did find that eight officers violated Los Angeles Police Department policy. However, a violation that results in gunning down an innocent elderly lady does not appear to be a firing or even suspending act of misconduct.
Chief Charlie Beck insisted that this shooting was simply the result of “a tragic cascade of circumstances that led to an inaccurate conclusion by the officers.”
Of course, these women were hit by 103 “inaccurate conclusions.” Both could easily have been killed but that would not have changed the result.
