Why Switzerland Has The Lowest Crime Rate In The World (video)

Gun control advocates should be required to watch this video. The Swiss keep 600,000 assault rifles in their homes. It is a legal requirement for young men.
Guns are deeply rooted within Swiss culture - but the gun crime rate is so low that statistics are not even kept...

Between the ages of 21 and 32 men serve as frontline troops. They are given an M-57 assault rifle and 24 rounds of ammunition which they are required to keep at home.

Once discharged, men serve in the Swiss equivalent of the US National Guard, but still have to train occasionally and are given bolt rifles. Women do not have to own firearms, but are encouraged to.

  1. Well, the Swiss also have 4 official languages and universal health-insurance coverage, perhaps those are the reasons for low crime?

I am having a hard time following your logic. Are you saying people commit crime because they need health care? I must have missed the 'Doctor gets stuck up for an operation' story. On the other hand, the knowledge that most citizens are heavily armed must give burglars and robbers nightmares.

  3. This man gets it: the key to freedom is the ability to defend yourself. He calmly mentioned that the Swiss do not want to be marched off to ovens somewhere.

He has learned from history. We have not. I noticed that CNN, in February, reported that the Social Democrats and Greens collected 120,000 signatures to ban "part-time soldiers" from keeping weapons at home.

Social Democrats and Greens! These people are a curse EVERYWHERE.

  4. I can see why having citizens own guns would deter criminals in a country like the USA or Europe. However, the culture has a lot to do with crime rates also. I think someone got their facts a little mixed up. Japan has the lowest crime rate in the world and guns are virtually non existant. Even police officers are not allowed to carry a gun when off duty.

  5. Bluegrass Pundit,

One must prove an assertion such as Because every Swiss home has guns therefore Switzerland has the lowest crime rate.

I didn't prove my assertion but I bring up other possible casual factors which may contribute or may be directly responsible for the Low Crime Rate.

The are many possible reasons the Swiss have low crime you did not prove the guns are the reason...

The video also states the government provides ammo to its citizens would you like everyone and anyone to be able to acquire ammo sans a check or any controls?
