Mexican Government Runs Ad Threatening Arizona Tourists

This is ludicrous. The Mexican government has run an ad in an Arizona publication threatening tourists from Arizona.

Via Sheriff Joe’s twitter page:
“I want the public to call 1-800-4SONORA & demand to know the meaning of this ad that was in the AZ Republic today http://twitpic.com/1ptueq

  1. Oh, c'mon. A threat? It looks a lot more like a tourism ad to me.

  2. It is a tourism ad, at least you should take time to read the entire ad. Bottom left: "Sonora Turismo" bottom center: www.gotosonora.com bottom right: www.visitmexico.com - all of them talk about tourism.

  4. The ad may have been paid for by the Tourism Dept., but it hardly looks like a tourism ad. A military officer with binoculars? Does this make you want to go to Mexico in light of the violence across the border and the controversy over the Arizona ID checking law? The message isn't that subtle.

  6. Mexico was already near the bottom of my favorite tourist destinations anyways. Arizona however sounds great! Weather, golfing, not getting gunned down by a cop on the take from a drug cartel, poolside at resorts, did I mention golfing etc.
