Genius: UK Immigration Officer Puts Wife on Terror Watch List So She Can't Fly Home

This was a brilliant plan to get rid of an unwanted wife. It was foiled when the man got a promotion and it was discovered during the vetting process.
(MailOnline)- An immigration officer tried to rid himself of his wife by adding her name to a list of terrorist suspects.

He used his access to security databases to include his wife on a watch list of people banned from boarding flights into Britain because their presence in the country is 'not conducive to the public good'.

As a result the woman was unable for three years to return from Pakistan after travelling to the county to visit family.

The tampering went undetected until the immigration officer was selected for promotion and his wife name was found on the suspects' list during a vetting inquiry.

The Home Office confirmed today that the officer has been sacked for gross misconduct.
If my wife is reading this, she shouldn't worry. Homeland Security turned down my job application. J/K

Frightening: Muslim Brotherhood Leader Calls For Egyptian Army to Prepare For War With Israel

The Muslim Brotherhood: The Burden of Tradition

The Muslim Brotherhood has been touted by liberals and the media as nonviolent. Don't be fooled. They are hardcore Islamists who would like nothing better than to destroy Israel and the West.
Mohamed Ghanem, one of the leaders of the Muslim Brotherhood in Egypt, calls Egypt to stop pumping gas to Israel and prepare the Egyptian army for a war with it’s eastern neighbor.

Speaking with Iranian television station Al-Alam, Mohamed Ghanem blamed Israel for supporting Hosni Mubarak’s regime. Ghanem also said that the Egyptian police and army won’t be able to stop the Muslim Brotherhood movement.

There are doubts about the loyalty of the Egyptian army to president Mubarak. If the brotherhood takes control over Egypt, it will be very messy from the whole region.

Confirmed: Obamacare is Un-Constitutional

Obama Health Law: What It Says and How to Overturn It (Encounter Broadsides)

A Federal Judge in Florida has struck down the individual mandate. He also declares the bill was "not severable." This voids the entire Obamacare health reform bill. Look for the Obama administration to fast-track this bill to the Supreme Court. President Obama slammed the Supreme Court in last year's SOTU. Now, the people he publicly berated one year ago will decide the fate of his signature legislation. Ironic, isn't it?
(Reuters) - A federal judge in Florida struck down President Barack Obama's landmark healthcare overhaul as unconstitutional on Monday in the biggest legal challenge yet to federal authority to enact the law.

U.S. District Judge Roger Vinson ruled that the reform law's so-called individual mandate went too far in requiring that Americans start buying health insurance in 2014 or pay a penalty.

"Because the individual mandate is unconstitutional and not severable, the entire act must be declared void," he wrote, "This has been a difficult decision to reach and I am aware that it will have indeterminable implications."

Republicans Introduce Bill to Stop EPA Regulation of CO2

Carbon Folly

Politicians can talk about civility until they turn blue in the face, but fundamental policy differences remain. Cap-and-Trade is one of these differences. President Obama was unable to get Congress to pass Cap-and-Trade when they had overwhelming majorities in both Houses. His response was to impose CO2 emmission controls by EPA regulation. Republicans will not agree to that.
(Daily Caller)- Republican Sen. John Barrasso of Wyoming introduced legislation Monday afternoon that would prohibit federal agencies from regulating greenhouse gases without a direct mandate from Congress.

The Defending America’s Affordable Energy and Jobs Act seeks to stop bureaucracies from unilaterally passing economically unsound regulations for the sole purpose of addressing climate change. It has seven co-sponsors, including Republican Sens. Mike Enzi of Wyoming, James Inhofe of Oklahoma and John Thune of South Dakota.

“It’s time for the administration to face the facts: Americans rejected cap and trade because they know it means higher energy prices and lost jobs,” said Barrasso in a statement.  “Washington agencies are now trying a backdoor approach to regulate our climate by abusing existing laws.  Congress must step in and stand up for the American people.”

BTW: The European Carbon Market is Still Closed

Carbon Markets: An International Business Guide (Environmental Market Insights)

The closure of the European carbon market is now extended indefinitely. The reason for the closure is fraud. I know you are thinking 'global warming fraud' and that is understandable. The 'fraud' the EU carbon market is being closed for is the old-fashioned kind. Hackers are stealing their carbon credits.
The European commission’s emergency suspension last week of trading in carbon allowances to put a halt to rampant theft of credits by hackers has been extended indefinitely until countries can prove their systems are protected from further fraud.

The Snake Begins Eating It's Tail

How to Win a Fight with a Liberal

Democrat Rep. Stephen Lynch tell liberals to stay out of primaries. He blames liberals for the disastrous midterm losses.
(The Hill)- Liberal groups need to stay out of Democratic primaries if the party is going to retake the House majority, according to a conservative Massachusetts Democrat.

Rep. Stephen Lynch was one of several Democrats who faced an aggressive primary challenge from the left in 2010. His challenger Mac D’Alessandro, a former top official with the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), received almost $300,000 from labor groups for his campaign.

“There was a lot of money spent against Democrats by Democrats,” Lynch told The Ballot Box. “That contributed to the scale of our losses.”

Egyptian Protester: When Egypt is free they will be able to “destroy Israel.”

Hosni Mubarak qualifies as a petty dictator because he quashes the opposition. He did win the last election with 80% of the vote, but anyone getting 80% in a democratic election is likely committing vote fraud. On the other hand, Mubarak doesn't seem to be pursuing a nuclear weapon and he is willing to deal with Israel diplomatically instead of with terrorism or military force. This creates a real problem for the U.S. diplomatically. If Mubarak goes, who takes power. The next biggest political party in Egypt is the Muslim Brotherhood. The Muslim Brotherhood is an Islamic transnational movement committed to unifying Arab states under an Islamic Caliphate. They are no friend of Israel. The protester in the CNN video brings it home.

Via The Blaze:
Then the guy that follows them takes it up a notch by explaining that when the people in Egypt are finally free they will be able to “destroy Israel.”

Bill Maher: The NFL is Socialist or Something

NFL Super Bowl XLV Program

At first I thought Bill Maher was just trying to be humorous with this HuffPo piece.
New Rule: With the Super Bowl only a week away, Americans must realize what makes NFL football so great: socialism. That's right, for all the F-15 flyovers and flag waving, football is our most successful sport because the NFL takes money from the rich teams and gives it to the poor teams... just like President Obama wants to do with his secret army of ACORN volunteers. Green Bay, Wisconsin has a population of 100,000. Yet this sleepy little town on the banks of the F*ck-if-I-know River has just as much of a chance of making it to the Super Bowl as the New York Jets - who next year need to just shut the hell up and play.
Then, Maher actually tries to score the point.
So, you kind of have to laugh - the same angry white males who hate Obama because he's "redistributing wealth" just love football, a sport that succeeds economically because it does exactly that. To them, the NFL is as American as hot dogs, Chevrolet, apple pie, and a second, giant helping of apple pie.
There are several problems with Maher's analogy. Equally distributing the goods is actually communistic, not socialistic. Also, NFL teams are privately owned, own their own logo's, stadium revenue, and local TV contracts. They are like a privately held business cartel. Socialism hating football fans can rest easy and enjoy the Super Bowl.

Latest Bird-Brained Idea: Play Bird Chirping on City Loudspeakers

Dawn In The Country With Birds Chirping

Among his other accomplishments is a law giving the city the right to castrate pit bulls. Mayor Parris also has a vision of making Lancaster the Alternative Energy Capital of the World. He was re-elected with an overwhelming majority. Of course, the city of Lancaster is in California...
LANCASTER (AP) — It may sound like a bird-brained idea, but the mayor of Lancaster wants to brighten up the Mojave Desert city by broadcasting recorded bird songs.

R. Rex Parris proposed the idea during his State of the City talk on Monday.

The Antelope Valley Press says Parris wants to play the bird chatter from loudspeakers on Lancaster Boulevard.

This Really Is Not Believable

The New York Times claims, "it is our aim to be impartial in our presentation of the news." Try not to spit you drink on your keyboard.
The New York Times today offers what it calls the backstory on its publication of the stolen WikiLeaks documents. It includes the intriguing fact that the White House didn't try very hard to deter publication, but the report by executive editor Bill Keller mostly reads like house propaganda and a Pulitzer application.

There is a laugh-out-loud moment. It comes when Keller writes that "it is our aim to be impartial in our presentation of the news."

It's hard to imagine he believes that. Certainly nobody else does.

Psycho Ed Schultz Ordered by MSNBC to Stop “Psycho Talk” Segment

Killer Politics: How Big Money and Bad Politics Are Destroying the Great American Middle Class

Liberals everywhere put on suicide watch.
(Daily Caller) — MSNBC host Ed Schultz announced Thursday on his radio show that his “Psycho Talk” segment had been discontinued by MSNBC executives.

“I work for somebody,” said Schultz. “I don’t call all the shots.”

Following the abrupt departure of Keith Olbermann from the network, Schultz’s show on MSNBC was moved from 6 p.m. to 10 p.m.

“There’s probably people in positions that are a helluva lot smarter than I am and have decided that that’s what the way it’s going to be,” Schultz said in an uncharacteristically servile response to the decision.
On January 11, following the Tucson shooting, Schultz said that he had no intention of discontinuing the segment. “As long as they open their mouths over there on the right, we will continue to have the segment called ‘Psycho Talk,’” said Schultz.

Obama sends out fundraiser to help beat back lying Republicans

The Audacity of Hope: Thoughts on Reclaiming the American Dream (Vintage)

Obama sent out a fundraiser to help Senate Democrats "beat back" lying Republicans.

Via NewsBusters:
"The DSCC has set a goal of raising $50,000 by January 31 to ensure they have the resources to beat back mistruths and distortions, hire staff for the next set of races, and support the work of Democrats in the Senate."

Obamacare May Actually Leave More Americans Without Insurance

The Truth About Obamacare
Government regulation often has negative consequences. Obamacare is a job killer and may actually leave more people uninsured than before the law was passed.

FOX News reported:
“Even the Obama administration is admitting by granting these waivers that they better make some exceptions or they’re going to have the unintended consequence of having more uninsured, not less,” according to Jim Capretta of the Ethics and Public Policy Center, a former official in the White House Office of Management and Budget from 2001 to 2004.

John Goodman of the National Center for Policy Analysis says “What’s happening is the federal government is trying to force workers to have a health insurance plan that’s more expensive than they or their employers can afford.”

The law now forces all plans to offer at least 750,000 dollars in annual benefits, but the administration has already granted waivers to McDonald’s and other low wage firms.

Goodman and others fear employers will just drop insurance altogether and pay the penalties, or hire fewer people.

“The cheapest thing for an employer not to do is not to hire people,” Goodman says, “to hire only temporary workers.

TSA Insisting Gropers be Government Employees

After the uproar over the new TSA naked scanners and gate groping rules, many airports were looking to opt out and have private companies do the screening. This has been allowed and 16 airports already participate in the program. Now, TSA is refusing to allow anymore airports to join the private screening program. TSA is violating Americans rights and their leaders and all their employees should be put in jail.
Washington (CNN)- But on Friday, the TSA denied an application by Springfield-Branson Airport in Missouri to privatize its checkpoint workforce, and in a statement, Pistole indicated other applications likewise will be denied.

"I examined the contractor screening program and decided not to expand the program beyond the current 16 airports as I do not see any clear or substantial advantage to do so at this time," Pistole said.

He said airports that currently use contractor screening will continue to be allowed to.

Pistole said he has been reviewing TSA policies with the goal of helping the agency "evolve into a more agile, high-performance organization."
The police state tactics used by TSA in regard to travel far surpass anything devised by the Nazis.

Rasmussen: Voters Oppose Bankruptcy for States

The Complete Idiot's Guide to Personal Bankruptcy

Voters are more open-minded if government employees might have their pensions reduced as part of the bankruptcy.
(Rasmussen)- A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey shows that just 17% of Likely U.S. Voters believe states should be allowed to file for bankruptcy if they are unable to pay their financial obligations. Fifty-four percent (54%) oppose bankruptcy for states, and another 29% are undecided. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

But voter support nearly doubles to 32% when the question is phrased to include the possibility that government employees might have their pensions reduced if their state filed for bankruptcy. Fifty-one percent (51%) are still opposed to allowing states to declare bankruptcy, but only 17% remain undecided.

Anthropogenic Climate Change Skeptics on Rise in Britain

The Hockey Stick Illusion: Climategate and the Corruption of Science (Independent Minds)

The number has almost doubled in four years.
A quarter of Britons are unconvinced that the world is warming following successive freezing winters and a series of scandals over the credibility of climate science.

The figures suggest that a growing proportion of the public do not share the belief of all three major political parties and Whitehall – that climate change is a major and urgent challenge requiring radical and expensive policies.

The survey, carried out by the Office for National Statistics, has plotted levels of acceptance of the theory of man-made global warming since 2006.

In that year it found that 87 per cent of people were at least ‘fairly convinced’ that climate change was happening.

Last year that share had dropped to 75 per cent. Numbers who say they are unconvinced went up from 12 to 23 per cent.

GOP Rep. Paul Broun sticks By Tweet Calling Obama Socialist

Rep. Paul Broun made the tweet during the SOTU address. He is refusing to retract it.
(CNSNews.com) - Rep. Paul Broun is standing by his tweet that he made during the President Obama’s State of the Union Address. The tweet said, “ Mr. President, you don’t believe in the Constitution. You believe in socialism.”

When asked about the tweet by CBS News, Broun said he sticks by it.

“Absolutely, everything he does is bigger Government, more central control from Washington D.C., that’s not what our founding fathers envisioned the government to be. I believe in the original intent of the Constitution which means that the federal government should just be doing basically the 18 things in Article I, section 8, very little else,” Broun added.

SOTU Fails to Rally Support for Obama's Spending Proposals

Before and after polling by Rasmussen shows little change. 50% oppose new spending. Voters very much prefer to cut spending and reduce the deficit.
The president’s Tuesday night State of the Union speech had little impact on support for his new spending proposals in areas like education, transportation and technological innovation.

Rasmussen Reports asked voters the same three questions about the president’s economic proposals on the two nights prior to the speech and then again on Tuesday and Wednesday nights.

On the first two nights, 39% supported the proposals. On the next two nights, support was 41%.

If Obama is so smart, why does he deliver 8th grade level SOTU speeches?

There are two possible answers to this question. Either Obama isn't that smart or he thinks we are uneducated idiots. You decide.

Via University of Minnesota:
The Flesch-Kincaid test is designed to assess the readability level of written text, with a formula that translates the score to a U.S. grade level. Longer sentences and sentences utilizing words with more syllables produce higher scores. Shorter sentences and sentences incorporating more monosyllabic words yield lower scores.
But Tuesday evening’s address beat even that.

A Smart Politics analysis of 69 orally delivered State of the Union Addresses since the mid-1930s finds the text of Obama’s speech to have notched the second lowest score on the Flesch-Kincaid readability test recorded by a U.S. President.

Oops! Himalayan glaciers are actually advancing rather than retreating!

Climate Change 2007: The Physical Science Basis
But...but...the Climate Change 2007 IPCC report claimed they were retreating and would be gone by 2035.
(Telegraph)Himalayan glaciers are actually advancing rather than retreating, claims the first major study since a controversial UN report said they would be melted within quarter of a century.

Researchers have discovered that contrary to popular belief half of the ice flows in the Karakoram range of the mountains are actually growing rather than shrinking.

The discovery adds a new twist to the row over whether global warming is causing the world’s highest mountain range to lose its ice cover.

It further challenges claims made in a 2007 report by the UN’s Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change that the glaciers would be gone by 2035.

Anchor Babies Away

Mud Pie Boathouse Baby Blue and White Cotton Onesie Dress, Anchor, 0 - 6 Months

Rand Paul (Ky.) and David Vitter (La.) have introduced legislation to prevent anchor babies. Currently, any child born in the U.S. is a citizen, even if the parents just crossed the border illegally for the birth.

(The Hill)Two Republican senators are introducing a resolution that would end the constitutional right to citizenship that comes with being born on U.S. soil.

Rand Paul (Ky.) and David Vitter (La.) are introducing a resolution this week that would amend the Constitution so that a person born in the United States could only become an American citizen if one or more of his or her parents is an legal citizen, legal immigrant, or member of the armed forces, according to a joint press release Thursday.

Vitter said the legislation would help reduce illegal immigration.

Obama's Sputnik Moment

Image here.

President Obama, in his SOTU address,  touted NASA's accomplishments in the space race as an example of American innovation.
Half a century ago, when the Soviets beat us into space with the launch of a satellite called Sputnik, we had no idea how we would beat them to the moon. The science wasn’t even there yet. NASA didn’t exist. But after investing in better research and education, we didn’t just surpass the Soviets; we unleashed a wave of innovation that created new industries and millions of new jobs.

This is our generation’s Sputnik moment. Two years ago, I said that we needed to reach a level of research and development we haven’t seen since the height of the Space Race. And in a few weeks, I will be sending a budget to Congress that helps us meet that goal. We’ll invest in biomedical research, information technology, and especially clean energy technology -– (applause) -- an investment that will strengthen our security, protect our planet, and create countless new jobs for our people.
In 2010, Obama slashed NASA's budget killing our plans to return to the moon and the vehicles we need for manned space flight.
When the White House releases his budget proposal Monday, there will be no money for the Constellation program that was supposed to return humans to the moon by 2020. The troubled and expensive Ares I rocket that was to replace the space shuttle to ferry humans to space will be gone, along with money for its big brother, the Ares V cargo rocket that was to launch the fuel and supplies needed to take humans back to the moon.

There will be no lunar landers, no moon bases, no Constellation program at all.
Now, we are left hitchhiking with the Russians in order to get into orbit. The hypocrisy of President Obama is astounding.

Obama Waits Until After SOTU to Dump Updated Obamacare Waiver List

The Truth About Obamacare

The list skyrocketed from 222 to 729 employers and 2.2 million employees. Many of them are unions who pushed hardest for passage of Obamacare. They are seeking relief from some of the costly aspects of the bill.

Via Hot Air:
Well today, the day after the President’s State of the Union, the new waivers are up. You may recall that there were 222 such waivers approved in November. That number has now jumped to 729 through the end of December. The total number of people covered by the waivers has gone from 1.5M to just under 2.2M. The list includes the usual assortment of union locals and businesses.

I don’t think it’s too much of a stretch to suggest that OCIIO was asked to hold this development until after the SOTU. Indeed the latest waiver approved in the list is from December 30th. There is an addendum at the bottom of the page noting that four states–Massachusetts, New Jersey, Ohio, and Tennessee–have applied for waivers covering another 93,000 people. The addendum is dated 1/21/11, but I can assure you it was not there on 1/21 or even Monday.

CBO: New Record Deficit of $1.5 Trillion Predicted for This Year

A trillion here, a trillion there and pretty soon it will be real money.
Washington (AP) – New budget estimates released Wednesday predict the government’s deficit will hit almost $1.5 trillion this year, a new record.

The daunting numbers mean that the government will have to borrow 40 cents for every dollar it spends.

The new Congressional Budget Office estimates will add fuel to a raging debate over cutting spending and looming legislation that’s required to allow the government to borrow more money as the national debt nears the $14.3 trillion cap set by law. Republicans controlling the House say there’s no way they’ll raise the limit without significant cuts in spending, starting with a government funding bill that will advance next month.
If you spent 40% more than you made every year, how long would it be before you had to go bankrupt?

Oh My! Arizona Likely Will Pass a Law Requiring Candidates to Show Proof of Natural Born Citizenship!

Dreams from My Father: A Story of Race and Inheritance

The proposal would require "documents that prove that the candidate is a natural born citizen and meets residency requirements for President of the United States as prescribed in article II, section 1, Constitution of the United States." I seriously doubt the electronically generated COLB President Obama presented online and to FactCheck.com will suffice. He will likely need to submit his original birth papers. Considering the extent president Obama has gone to hide this document, and his other records, will he submit them or drop out of the 2012 race? The law still has to pass in Arizona, but it looks like the support may be there.

(WND)- A plan in Arizona to require presidential candidates to prove their eligibility to occupy the Oval Office is approaching critical mass, even though it has just been introduced.

The proposal from state Rep. Judy Burges, who carried a similar plan that fell short last year only because of political maneuvering, was introduced yesterday with 16 members of the state Senate as co-sponsors.

It needs only 16 votes in the Senate to pass.

In the House, there are 25 co-sponsors, with the need for only 31 votes for passage, and Burges told WND that there were several chamber members who confirmed they support theplanand will vote for it, but simply didn’t wish to be listed as co-sponsors.

Obama Grabs Congress by the Earmark

The American Congress
President Obama promised to veto any bill sent to his desk that includes an earmark.
Vowed to veto any bills sent to him that include "earmarks," pet spending provisions pushed by individual lawmakers. "Both parties in Congress should know this: If a bill comes to my desk with earmarks inside, I will veto it."
President Obama didn't feel this way about earmarks in 2009.
The president said some earmarks are legitimate. "Done right," he said, "earmarks give legislators the opportunity to direct federal money to worthy projects that benefit people in their district, and that's why I have opposed their outright elimination."
What brought about this dramatic change of heart? Republican House Speaker John Boehner has publicly promised no bills with earmarks will get out of the House anyway. Now, President Obama can claim credit for Boehner's work. How sleazy can you get?

His attorney claimed the TSA orders were unlawful because there is no law requiring you show your papers for interstate travel. No other evidence was presented or witnesses called.

Opposition to Obamacare Jumps Nine Points in One Month

Obama Health Law: What It Says and How to Overturn It (Encounter Broadsides)

I guess people know what is in it now.

The Politico reported:
Fifty percent of Americans have unfavorable views of the law, according to a joint survey by the Kaiser Family Foundation and the Harvard School of Public Health. Opposition to the law jumped 9 percentage points from last month and is the highest since April, when Kaiser began asking the question every month.

…The new opposition to President Obama’s biggest domestic policy initiative has been driven largely by independents. Fifty-seven percent of independents had an unfavorable view of the law this month, up sharply from 41 percent in December.
