5 NASCAR Drivers Too Busy To Meet With Obama At White House

NASCAR NASCAR 7 Piece Flag Set

NASCAR is very popular among a demographic, white middle-class men and women, President Obama doesn't do well with in polls. I am surprised any of the drivers were willing to meet with President Obama.
(SB Nation) — President Barack Obama will honor NASCAR champion Jimmie Johnson and the 11 other Chase drivers from last year in a White House ceremony on Wednesday – but nearly half of the 2010 playoff contenders won’t be there.

NASCAR said Thursday that five drivers – Greg Biffle, Kurt Busch, Carl Edwards, Kevin Harvick and Tony Stewart – will not be attending the White House visit due to “schedule conflicts.”

They must be very busy people. Regardless of one’s political views, the president is still the president – and an opportunity to speak with the leader of the free world is a rare and special one.

You’d think whatever photo shoots or sponsor appearances these drivers have lined up on Wednesday afternoon – if that’s indeed the reason – could be rescheduled. After all, this is the President of the United States we’re talking about here.
Here are the NASCAR drivers who are looking forward to meeting Obama: Jimmy Johnson, Denny Hamlin, Jeff Gordon, Kyle Busch, Clint Bowyer, Jeff Burton and Matt Kenseth will attend. Send them a message.

  1. Sponsorship photo shoots and anything of that regard is something you do NOT wanna reschedule. You don't wanna upset your sponsors and your team. The money is far too important to be rescheduling to meet with the President IMHO.

Be that as it may, I don't think the drivers that are going see it as anything political. I mean, as conservative as I am, I wouldn't pass up an opportunity to meet with the President. I mean, yeah, it's Obama, but it's the President!

  3. I'm actually crushed Jeff Gordon is going. :( I cheer the others who are not going though! I'm not a celebrity or important person in the least, but if I were, I still wouldn't have the desire to meet Obama. I agree with Dale.
