Barney Frank is thinking about sexting his supporters or something

As is anyone needed another reason to not support Barney Frank. The idea of getting sexts from him is enough to send shivers down even a diehard liberals spine!
FRANK’S EFFUSIVE THANK YOU: Lawmakers penning their appreciation for campaign contributions comes with the territory when raising millions of dollars, but Rep. Barney Frank took it to the next level with a recent thank you note obtained by POLITICO. “I thought about lip-synching Eddie Fisher’s version of 'Danke Schoen' on YouTube. Other possibilities suggested themselves — some combination of friending, tweeting, texting and sexting,” Frank writes this month on trying to find new media ways of expressing his gratitude for long-time supporters. In the end, the Massachusetts Democrat says that he’ll have to work a little longer on his social media skills — but that he is “deeply grateful” for the supporters' help in “fend[ing] off last year’s right-wing onslaught.”

Number of millionaires has dropped by 40% since the recession started

Most people assume the top 1% are all millionaires. That isn't true. The IRS put the figure at 343,927 in annual income in 2009. The number is undoubtedly lower now. The top 1% has been hit harder by the recession, on an income percentage basis, than the lower other 99%. The number of millionaires nationally has dropped by 40%.
In 2009, the Internal Revenue Service set the minimum threshold for the top 1 percent of all wage-earners at $343,927 in annual income.

The number of Ohio taxpayers in that group fell by 24 percent during the recession, from more than 62,000 in 2007 to less than 47,000 in 2009, according to state tax data.

Rich hurt by market
The drop in their collective adjusted gross incomes was even more dramatic, plunging 47 percent to $68.4 billion from $128.5 billion.

The rich, especially millionaires, have been hurt by volatility in the stock market because they derive so much of their income from investments and capital gains, which include sales from stocks, real estate and bonds, economists said.

“There actually was a 43 percent decline of millionaires in Ohio, and nationally, the decline was 40 percent, so we are just mirroring the country,” said Gary Gudmundson, spokesman for the Ohio Department of Taxation.

Add South Carolina to the list of states Obama is suing for enforcing immigration law

President Obama can't have any old state interfering with his backdoor amnesty plan.
WASHINGTON — The Justice Department filed suit Monday against South Carolina over a recently-passed state law seeking to step up local law enforcement action against illegal immigrants.

The law, set to take effect Jan. 1, requires local law enforcement officials to check the immigration status of everyone they detain. Proponents say the measure will reduce crime and other problems caused by illegal immigrants, but critics have warned that U.S. citizens and immigrants who are in the country legally could be kept in custody by police carrying out the new law.

The lawsuit – the third the Justice Department has filed against new measures states have enacted to crack down on illegal aliens – argues that the law usurps the federal government’s authority to enforce immigration laws.
A spokesman for Gov. Nikki Haley (R-S.C.), who signed the measure into law in June, said she would resist the federal government’s effort to block the new law.

U.S. Labor Secretary Hilda Solis uses offensive "teabaggers" term

Shameful...
(SSN) — With the team behind President Barack Obama targeting the Sunshine State in their bid for a second term in 2012, the White House sent U.S. Labor Secretary Hilda Solis to speak to the Florida Democratic Convention on Saturday.
A day after Vice President Joe Biden told the convention at Walt Disney World that Obama needed to carry Florida to win in 2012, Solis attempted to rally Democrats for the elections and urged them to push for the Obama jobs plan which, with Republicans controlling the U.S. House, has no chance of passing Congress.
Speaking at a luncheon event on Saturday, Solis carried water for Obama, bashing Republicans and praising the administration’s economic policies.
Solis offered harsh words about conservatives. Looking at 2012, Solis slammed the tea party movement, calling them “teabaggers” and promising the Obama administration will take them on.

Demo Sen. Dick Durban: Congress should “Design The Economy”

President Obama is attempting to frame the 2012 election as a battle between fat-cats and the rest of the country. The real issue of 2012 is control. Should the government control businesses, the economy and our lives or should we have capitalism, free markets and personal accountability?

Via Beltway Confidential:
With the public weary of bank bailouts, stimulus packages, and the federal loan program that produced the Solyndra scandal, Democrats still believe that Congress should play a major role in shaping the economy — with the help of expert planners, of course.

Senate Majority Whip Dick Durbin, D-Ill., acknowledged as much when he accused congressional Republicans of “simply standing back while trying to design the bumper sticker for the 2012 election instead of designing the economy to put Americans back to work.” Durbin said this during an interview with the Chicago Tribune.

Durbin’s suggestion that Congress should “design the economy” gets to the heart of a pragmatic disagreement between Republicans and Democrats on matters of economic policy. Nobel prize-winning economist Friedrich Hayek explained that economic central planners do a much worse job of “designing the economy” than the decentralized “planners” of the free market — small businessman and consumers, for instance — who make personal economic decisions based on much more complete information. Central planners, in contrast, lack the knowledge to make good decisions for everyone.

President Obama's agenda is a clone of the CPUSA agenda

The points listed below are excerpted for a CPUSA post on June 25, 2011. They seem to mirror President Obama's agenda and re-election strategy. The only major difference of how far they are willing to go with it. For instance, Obama wants to raise the top tax rate on the rich, but not to the 70% level. President Obama also wants to cut military spending, but not by half. The agenda of the CPUSA is almost a clone of President Obama's. The main difference is the level they are willing to take it too. The President Obama and the CPUSA are marching lockstep towards socialism. The CPUSA just wants to get there faster.

From CPUSA:

Save the nation! Tax corporations! Tax the rich!
We Say Enough is Enough!
  • End the Bush-era tax giveaways to banks, corporations and wealthy individuals.
  • Close corporate tax loopholes, especially billions in tax subsidies for the oil companies.
  • Raise new revenues by restoring 70% tax rate on incomes over $1 million.
  • Raise $150 billion a year by imposing a financial transaction tax on Wall Street speculation.
  • Cut the military budget by half. Bring troops home from Afghanistan and Iraq.
  • Create jobs in a major public works program to repair our nation’s infrastructure and to make our nation number one in “green industry.” Target the jobs to hard-hit inner city communities and the rural poor.
  • Fully fund a national health care program and drastically increase federal aid to education, Pell Grants, and other vital human needs programs.
  • Remove the cap on the Social Security payroll tax, so that CEOs and hedge fund managers pay the same rate as the rest of us.

OWS on Sexual Assault: “We don’t tell anyone,”

Whatever happens, don't make the moonbats look bad.

The New York Post reported:
Wall Street protesters in Zuccotti Park battened down the hatches yesterday as the early October snow turned their tents into igloos, but the close quarters also made easy pickings for one predator.

A sex fiend barged into a woman’s tent and sexually assaulted her at around 6 a.m., said protesters, who chased him from the park.

“Pervert! Pervert! Get the f–k out!” said vigilante Occupiers, who never bothered to call the cops.
“They were shining flashlights in his face and yelling at him to leave,” said a woman who called herself Leslie, but refused to give her real name.

She said that weeks earlier another woman was raped.

“We don’t tell anyone,” she said. “We handle it internally. I said too much already.”

Rare October Snow Leaves 2.3 Million Customers Without Power in Northeast (video)

I know this is weather and not climate, but it's hard to spin weather like this as caused by man-made CO2 induced warming. I am sure some "warmist" somewhere is making that case this morning.

STATE COLLEGE, Pa. (AP) -- An unseasonably early snowstorm that blanketed parts of states from Maryland to Maine, knocking out power to millions and snarling air and highway travel, was forecast to slowly move north out of New England and officials warned it could be days before many see electricity restored.

The heavy, wet October snow, falling atop leaf-laden trees and driven by frigid, gusting winds, brought down branches and power lines and put the Northeast on notice that winter is around the corner. More than 2.3 million customers from Maryland to New England lost power due to the storm by early Sunday.

Liberal Heartache: Occupy Los Angeles split into two hostile camps

Apparently, there is the drinking and weed smoking camp and the goody-two-shoes camp.
(The Raw Story)- An internal mutiny over the issue of pot-smoking, however, has raised doubts as to just how unified the protesters really are, and whether any person or group among them is in a position to negotiate on behalf of the entire occupation.

As described by journalist Natasha Vargas-Cooper, “Around 8 p.m. on Wednesday night, the 300 people who have been occupying the lawn of Los Angeles City Hall for the past three weeks split themselves into two hostile camps.”

She explains that “drug use has been a key conservative talking point used to undermine the various Occupy camps around the country,” but that in Los Angeles, “smoking weed has become a wedge issue dividing the camp into increasingly entrenched groups.”

“Rumblings of dissent and palpable animosity had been mounting in the camp throughout [Wednesday] afternoon,” Vargas-Cooper reports. “Informal meetings were held around the clock to hotly debate an issue that had factionalized the camp: weed. . . . Occupy LA’s decision-making body, the General Assembly, has been responsible for conducting the encampment’s business. … But on Wednesday, a large group of dissenters decided to occupy the General Assembly’s usual outdoor meeting space and assert themselves as the new regime.”

Game on! Eric Holder to testify before House Judiciary Committee regarding “Fast and Furious.”

Be prepared for more waffling, deception and lies.
WASHINGTONCBS News has learned Attorney General Eric Holder has agreed to appear before the House Judiciary Committee regarding “Fast and Furious.” The hearing will take place Dec. 8th.
Judiciary Committee member and head of the House Oversight Committee Rep. Darrell Issa (R-CA) had requested that Holder appear, in part to dig deeper into when-he-knew-what about ATF’s so-called “gunwalking” operation Fast and Furious.
In May, Holder testified that he only first heard about Fast and Furious a few weeks before. However, as CBS News reported, documents and memos indicate he had been sent multiple briefings mentioning Fast and Furious in 2010.
Holder later explained in a letter to Congress that he didn’t read those memos, and that in any event, nobody at the Justice Department who knew of Fast and Furious was aware of the specific “gunwalking” tactics used.

MSNBC's Karen Finney on Herman Cain: "he is a black man that knows his place" (video)

Can't they give the race card a rest for a few days? Don't Democrats and liberals have anything other than class warfare and race-baiting in their arsenal?

Via YouTube:
"Very seriously, and this is a little harsh, but one of the things about Herman Cain is, I think that he makes that white Republican base of the party feel OK, feel like they are not racist because they can like this guy. I think he is giving that base a free pass and I think they like him because they think he is a black man that knows his place. And I know that's harsh, but that's how it sure seems to me."

OWS is mostly a bunch of liberals, unionists, students, Socialists and moochers

Only 30% of OWS protesters have full-time jobs. This is a main difference between OWS and the Tea Party movement. The Tea Party couldn't occupy anyplace tong-term because they had jobs, families to support and taxes to pay.
(NY Times) — Dr. Panagopoulos described the protesters as “disgruntled Democrats.” Sixty percent of those surveyed said they voted for Barack Obama in 2008, and about three-quarters now disapprove of Mr. Obama’s performance as president. A quarter said they were Democrats, but 39 percent said they did not identify with any political party. Eleven percent identified as Socialists, another 11 percent said they were members of the Green Party, 2 percent were Republicans and 12 percent say they identified as something else.
Questionnaires handed out by Dr. Panagopoulos’s team of 15 interviewers throughout the park were completed by 301 adults from Oct. 14 to Oct. 18. “I followed the academic protocols that colleagues of mine adopted in the past to survey demonstrations,” he said.

In the survey, 80 percent described themselves as liberal; half of those said they were extremely liberal. [...]
Two-thirds of the survey respondents have attended college, and 25 percent are currently students. Thirty percent have full-time jobs and 18 percent are employed part-time. Forty percent are members of a union household. (Nationally, in a recent New York Times/CBS News poll, 58 percent of the general public have attended college and 62 percent are employed, either full-time or part-time.)
This survey found only 2 percent were Republicans and 60% voted for Barack Obama. Based on the demographics (80% liberal), I can't imagine the other 40% voted Republican in 2008. Most likely, they were too lazy to vote at all.

Concealed handgun instructor runs ad refusing to train liberals, Obama supporters and Muslims

65-year-old Crockett Keller says he will give up his license to teach before training a liberal, Obama supported or Muslim. Keller says Obama supporters have proven they cannot make a knowledgeable and prudent decision.
MASON, Texas -- It was a message intended to bring in some extra business. A radio ad for a concealed handgun class at Keller's Riverside Store in Mason, located in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, is causing controversy.

"We will attempt to teach you all the necessary information you need to obtain your C.H.L.," the ad stated.  Forty-five seconds in, the advertisement added a disclaimer.

"If you are a socialist liberal and or voted for the current campaigner in chief, please do not take this class. You have already proven that you cannot make a knowledgeable and prudent decision as under the law."
The ad continues, going on to say,"If you are a non-Christian Arab or Muslim, I will not teach you the class with no shame; I am Crockett Keller, thank you and God bless America."

Behind his store off Highway 87 two hours northwest of Austin, 65-year-old Crockett Keller teaches concealed carry courses to earn a few extra dollars. Courses that, he wants to make clear, are not for everyone.

"I call it exercising my right to choose who I instruct in how to use a dangerous weapon," said Keller.

Occupy Madison permit pulled for public masturbation. What?

You read the headline correctly. There have been complaints of public masturbation among the Occupy Madison protesters. Folks, this isn't at all like the Tea Party.

Via Pundit Press:
Occupy Madison has temporarily been denied an extension in their protesting permit because members of the movement violated “public health and safety conditions.” The group also did not properly fill out the form.
City officials cited several specific reasons for their decision. The most notable was repeated complains from a nearby hotel, which stated that protesters were “publicly masturbating” in full view of passersby.

Global Warming Lunacy: Rising global temperatures will cause mass migrations as complicated as brain surgery

Calamitous results and brain surgery? The University of Florida needs to take a chill pill. (Pun wasn't intended, but I'll take it.)

GAINESVILLE, Fla. — Governments around the world must be prepared for mass migrations caused by rising global temperatures or face the possibility of calamitous results, say University of Florida scientists on a research team reporting in the Oct. 28 edition of Science.

If global temperatures increase by only a few of degrees by 2100, as predicted by the U.N. Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change, people around the world will be forced to migrate. But transplanting populations from one location to another is a complicated proposition that has left millions of people impoverished in recent years. The researchers say that a word of caution is in order and that governments should take care to understand the ramifications of forced migration...

“The effects of climate change are likely to be experienced by as many people as disasters,” UF anthropologist Anthony Oliver-Smith said. “More people than ever may be moving in response to intense storms, increased flooding and drought that makes living untenable in their current location.”

“Sometimes the problem is simply a lack of regard for the people ostensibly in the way of progress,” said Oliver-Smith, an emeritus professor who has researched issues surrounding forced migration for more than 30 years. But resettlements frequently fail because the complexity of the task is underestimated. “Transplanting a population and its culture from one location to another is a complex process — as complicated as brain surgery,” he said.
I mam unaware of any mass migrations directly attributable to anthropogenic global warming.  I am equally unaware of any definitive proof of any actual anthropogenic global warming. At the end of the article we get to the real reason global warming will cause mass migrations.
In the coming years, he said, many projects such as hydroelectric dams and biofuel plantations will be proposed in the name of climate change, but moving people to accommodate these projects may not be the simple solution that policy makers sometimes assume.
That's right. Our 'chicken little' reaction to alleged anthropogenic global warming is going to cause mass migrations. That part is believable if our leaders don't come to their senses.

WH spokesman Jay Carney on why Obama is ruling by EO: Because "he can"

It is good to be king.
(RCP) — “What gives the president the right to [enact measures] by executive order,” NBC’s Mike Vaccaro asked White House press secretary Jay Carney today.
“The things [Obama] is doing administratively, through executive powers are things he can do, the things that do not require legislative action so he is exercising that power,” Carney responded.
Carney says Obama has been doing this throughout his entire presidency and it is only newsworthy at this point since it’s “obvious to everyone” that the Congress is dysfunctional and acting as “obstructionists.”
“He has done and will continue to take the kinds of actions he can, as president, without Congress, to help Americans. To help them deal with this economy. To help them deal with their debt, deal with their mortgages, and through a variety of other measures that he has taken and will take,” Carney told Vaccaro.

Obama's disingenuous ban on taking campaign money from lobbyists

It depends on the the meaning of the term "lobbyist" is or something.
WASHINGTON (NY Times) — Despite a pledge not to take money from lobbyists,President Obama has relied on prominent supporters who are active in the lobbying industry to raise millions of dollars for his re-election bid.

At least 15 of Mr. Obama’s “bundlers” — supporters who contribute their own money to his campaign and solicit it from others — are involved in lobbying for Washington consulting shops or private companies. They have raised more than $5 million so far for the campaign.

Because the bundlers are not registered as lobbyists with the Senate, the Obama campaign has managed to avoid running afoul of its self-imposed ban on taking money from lobbyists.

But registered or not, the bundlers are in many ways indistinguishable from people who fit the technical definition of a lobbyist. They glide easily through the corridors of power in Washington, with a number of them hosting Mr. Obama at fund-raisers while also visiting the White House on policy matters and official business.

It is still Nancy Pelosi!
(Rasmussen) — While Congress’ overall job approval continues to hover around record lows, House Minority Leader Nancy Pelosi remains the most unpopular Congressional leader.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 63% of Likely Voters have at least a somewhat unfavorable opinion of Pelosi, just below her worst rating ever (64%) measured in July and February.

Sheriff Joe Arpaio on investigation into Obama's social security number: " there could be a shock there somewhere that my guys came up with"

Arizona  Maricopa County Sheriff Joe Arpaio has convened a posse to investigate allegations President Obama is using a fraudulent social security number and forged birth certificate. He is playing his cards close to the vest, but he has strongly hinted there is a problem with the social security number.
Tuesday night, speaking to a tea-party group in Arizona, Arpaio said, "I can't tell you everything, but there could be a shock there somewhere that my guys came up with. I can't talk too much about it. It's in the process."...

The posse, assembled under the authority of Arpaio's office, consists of three former law enforcement officers and two retired attorneys with law enforcement experience. Members have been examining evidence since September concerning Obama's eligibility to be president under Article 2, Section 1 of the Constitution, which requires a president to be a natural-born citizen.

He referenced disputes over the Social Security number attributed to the president and said, "There are a couple of things you and nobody else here knows anything about yet that could be a little bit exciting."

WND and others have claimed proof that President Obama's social security number was issued in Connecticut when Barry Obama was a teenager living in Hawaii. Also, President Obama's social security number is flagged when entered into the new E-Verify system.

The PROTECT IP Act is a danger to internet, social networking sites, bloggers and website owners

Via Forbes:
Don't Let Hollywood Break the Internet With the PROTECT IP Act!

The PROTECT IP Act would allow copyright owners – movie studios and other content providers – simply to accuse a website of infringement, which could lead to that site being shut down by court order and entire links to the site being wiped clean from the Internet. Any website with a hyperlink, such as Twitter, Facebook or a blog, would be subject to liability. More, non-infringing sites could be inadvertently shut down under the proposal. Indeed, the law is so far-reaching that it would force Internet providers like Comcast to block all access to the allegedly illegal site.
Under this law, websites could easily be shutdown for political reasons because of false copyright claims.

TSA agent who wrote "get your freak on" note to female traveler with vibrator removed from checking luggage

The TSA agent who wrote "get your freak on" note to a female traveler who had a vibrator in her luggage has been removed from screening operations.  It doesn't appear he was fired. He will probably be reassigned to a groin groping job at an airport security checkpoint where he can get his "freak on."
A Transportation Security Administration airport security worker has been removed from checking baggage because of a note with sexual implications he left for a passenger at Newark's Liberty International Airport.
Jill Filipovic, a New York blogger who is also a lawyer, tweeted Monday that a note was left in her bag — which contained a sex toy, according to reports — that said "get your freak on." The note was written on a TSA notice of inspection form, leading Filipovic to believe it was written by someone at airport security.

TSA said on its blog Tuesday that it had conducted an investigation into the incident and removed the employee that was responsible from duty.
"That individual was immediately removed from screening operations and appropriate disciplinary action has been initiated," the agency wrote.

"The handwritten note was highly inappropriate and unprofessional, and TSA has zero tolerance for this type of behavior."
"Appropriate disciplinary action" is code for this employee is receiving a written warning that will likely be removed from his file within a year. If TSA really had "zero tolerance," they would have fired him immediately.

Great: Pakistan's security service is main trainer and supplier for Taliban

With friends like this...

Reuters:
Pakistan's security service provides weapons and training to Taliban insurgents fighting U.S. and British troops in Afghanistan, despite official denials, Taliban commanders say, in allegations that could worsen tensions between Pakistan and the United States.
A number of middle-ranking Taliban commanders revealed the extent of Pakistani support in interviews for a BBC Two documentary series, "Secret Pakistan," the first part of which was being broadcast on Wednesday.
A former head of Afghan intelligence also told the program that Afghanistan gave Pakistan's former president, Gen. Pervez Musharraf, information in 2006 that Osama bin Laden was hiding in northern Pakistan close to where the former al Qaeda leader was eventually killed by U.S. special forces in May.
...According to a commander using the name Mullah Azizullah, the experts running the training are either members of the ISI or have close links to it.
"They are all the ISI's men. They are the ones who run the training. First they train us about bombs; then they give us practical guidance," he said.

Janet Napolitano: Illegals detained by local law enforcement will be given civil rights phone number by ICE

Janet Napolitano must want illegal immigrants picked up by local law enforcement and turned over to ICE to join her 'leave the illegals alone' lawsuits against Arizona and Alabama.
(CNSNews.com) — Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano told the House Judiciary Committee in written testimony submitted Wednesday that illegal aliens taken into custody by local law enforcement and turned over to Immigration and Customs Enforcement will be given a phone number to call if they believe their civil rights have been violated.

The phone number will be provided on a form that will include directions on how to file a complaint in six different languages.

Napolitano told the committee that ICE has “updated its detainer form to clarify the longstanding rule that state and local authorities are not to detain an individual for more than 48 hours except for holidays and weekends.

“The new detainer form also requires state and local law enforcement to provide the arrestees with a copy of the form, which includes a number to call if they believe their civil rights have been violated by ICE,” said Napolitano.

Halloween political correctness gone too far

Children in two Calgary schools have been ordered to turn in their scary costumes for more caring and community friendly outfits.
CALGARY — Children wanting to wear scary, violent or blood-drenched costumes will have to trade them in for more caring and community friendly outfits at two public elementary schools this Halloween.

The principal of Colonel Walker and Ramsay schools said her staff has chosen to use the day normally known for scares and frights as an opportunity to teach community values.

But some parents say it’s political correctness gone too far.

“I don’t want to bash the school but I do think it’s a little bit silly,” said Julie Van Rosendaal, who’s six-year-old son attends Ramsay school in Grade 1.

“I think everyone’s wondering what the parameters of a caring costume are.”

Demo Rep. Charles Rangel calls for redistribution of America's wealth

President Obama seen smiling in approval...
(The Hill) — Rep. Charles Rangel (D-N.Y.) on Wednesday called for the redistribution of America’s riches and hammered the wealthy for benefitting from a war effort fought by the poor and middle class.

Citing statistics that show 1 percent of Americans now own 42 percent of the nation’s wealth, the lawmaker representing Harlem said: “There is something wrong with that formula.”

Rangel offered no specific remedy for adjusting those figures during his comments on the House floor but argued further that the wealthiest 1 percent have the added benefit of not needing to get involved in military service.
“Why is it that we know, or that we can suspect, that in this war where we lost so many lives, that so many people have been wounded, that our brave men and women coming home will subject themselves with a lack of funds to deal with their physical or mental problems?” he asked. “Any yet we somehow know that that 1 percent was not involved in defending our great nation.”

Dems on deficit reduction Supercommittee can't find cuts; suggest billions in stimulus and trillions in taxes

This has to be the least shocking story of the month.
(The Hill/OTM) — Democrats on the congressional supercommittee this week presented Republicans with a plan to cut the deficit that included billions of dollars in stimulus spending, aides told The Hill.
In a private meeting of the deficit panel Tuesday, Sen. Max Baucus (D-Mont.), chairman of the Senate Finance Committee, presented a proposal backed by a majority of Democrats on the panel that includes trillions of dollars in tax increases. The revenue would partially cover stimulus spending for the economy, aides said.
More than 50 percent of the deficit reduction in the plan would come from tax increases, one source said.
The plan from Democrats approaches the $3 trillion in deficit reduction that was included in the “grand bargain” that lawmakers debated over the summer.

The unemployed may cost President Obama re-election

New research shows a high percentage (39%) of unemployed likely to switch away from incumbent party. That is enough to tip several close swing state away for President Obama.

The unemployed, long an afterthought in political campaigns, could emerge as a surprise swing constituency next year. For decades, conventional wisdom was that the unemployed did not vote as much as those with jobs.

But new research based on the current economic slump shows a different picture. People who have lost their jobs are nearly twice as likely to switch support from incumbents, according to Andrew Healy, an economist at Loyola Marymount University.

Examining local layoff notices around the 2008 election, Healy found in an national study that 39 percent of the newly unemployed who had backed the incumbent party in the prior election switched their support to the opposition, compared with only 20 percent of other voters.

That helped Obama win Republican-leaning states like Indiana in 2008, but could put him on the defensive this time in states like Nevada and Michigan, where jobless households could make up a substantial portion of the electorate.

During the last two elections as the economy has stagnated, those who have lost their jobs have actually voted at a higher rate than the employed, according to national research being developed by Matthew Incantulpo, a graduate student at Princeton University.

VP Joe Biden to Reporter: "Don't screw around with me"

The reporter is from Human Events and he was asking Biden about comments claiming women would be raped if Republicans don't pass President Obama's jobs bill. Biden lied and said he only said rape was up. The first part of the video contains Biden's original comment. It is clear he is a liar.

Apparently, VP Joe Biden is miffed at being questioned about his questionable comments.

The Hill reported:

Joe Biden’s office has complained to the Senate press gallery about a confrontation the vice president had with a conservative journalist last week on Capitol Hill.
Biden aides asked whether Senate rules were broken in the wake of the contentious exchange between the vice president and the reporter.
Jason Mattera, who works for Human Events, a conservative magazine, used a pretext to catch Biden off guard in a Senate hallway and grill him on claims the vice president has made about jobs legislation.
Biden’s office has also contacted the standing committee of correspondents, which oversees the gallery, regarding whether Mattera broke the rules by ambushing him.

Obvious: FBI suspected that former Rep. John Murtha (D-Pa.) might have been a crook

Who would have suspected this? /snark
Last week’s release of FBI documents finally put in writing what nobody had ever said on the record: The FBI suspected that former Rep. John Murtha (D-Pa.) and lobbyists close to him were running a scheme to funnel earmarks to sham companies and nonprofits to benefit the lawmaker’s friends and former staffers.

Bits and pieces of this story were kicked around for years before Murtha died in February 2010. The Los Angeles Times, Roll Call, the Washington Post and others had documented the odd appearance of earmarks for tiny defense contractors that just happened to open an office in western Pennsylvania and just happened to hire one of the lobbying firms close to Murtha and just happened to begin making campaign donations to Murtha and other Members of Congress close to him.

MSNBC's Bill Press: “the Republican party is like some of the banks down South. They refuse to give a black man credit.”

Bill Press was referring to President Obama taking credit for President Bush's success in Iraq.

Via Newsbusters:
Sure way to stay schnockered between now and presidential Election Day: sling a shot every time a liberal plays the race card.
Latest example: on Al Sharpton’s MSNBC show this evening, Bill Press ascribed Republican reluctance to give President Obama credit on Iraq to the fact that “the Republican party is like some of the banks down South. They refuse to give a black man credit.”

Obama administration pumping up sales of Obama's book

Shameful...
(Washington Times)The U.S. Department of State has bought more than $70,000 worth of books authored by President Obama, sending out copies as Christmas gratuities and stocking “key libraries” around the world with “Dreams from My Father” more than a decade after its release.

The U.S. embassy in Egypt, for instance, spent $28,636 in August 2009 for copies of Mr. Obama’s bestselling 1995 memoir. Six weeks earlier, the embassy had placed another order with the same book seller, Kalemat Arabia, for more than $9,000 for copies of the same book, federal purchasing records show.
Around the same time, halfway around the world, the U.S. embassy in South Korea had the same idea, spending more than $6,000 for copies of “Dreams from My Father”.
One month later, the U.S. embassy in Jakarta, Indonesia, spent more than $3,800 for hardcover copies of the Indonesian version of Mr. Obama’s “The Audacity of Hope,” records show.

Ironic: OWS Protesters Complain About Homeless Not Pulling Their Weight

Oh, the a$$ exploding irony...

Money quote from OWS protester:
"If you're going to come here and get our food, bedding and clothing, have books and medical supplies for no charge, they need to give back," Digioia said. "There's a lot of takers here and they feel entitled."
The Tea Party never had this problem. They couldn't occupy anyplace long-term because they had jobs to do, families to support and taxes to pay.
(NY Daily News)- Zuccotti Park has become a haven for the homeless.

Enticed by the allure of free food and a community of open-minded people, increasing numbers are leaving New York's shelters to join the Occupy Wall Street protesters.

"I think this is a better situation to be involved with," said Matthew Maloney, 49, who was released from prison on Sept. 30 after serving time for a probation violation.

Maloney moved into a shelter in Staten Island and learned about Occupy Wall Street while watching television. Then the ex-con headed to Zuccotti Park on Oct. 13 and never left.

"I am around a good cause and around positive people, rather than in that other environment," he said.
Maloney has drifted in and out of the state prison system for more than three decades for a variety of crimes, including robbery and possession of stolen property...
"We have compassion toward everyone. However, we have certain rules and guidelines," said Lauren Digioia, 26, a member of the sanitation committee.

Gaddafi Declared An “Infidel”: No Islamic Burial

As hated as Gaddafi was by the Libyan people, you have to wonder how he stayed in power 42 years.
(ANSAmed) — ROME, OCTOBER 24The Grand Mufti of Libya, Assadiq al-Ghiriani, has stated that Colonel Gaddafi was an “infidel” and for this reason “prayers should not be spoken over his body” in mosques, as is foreseen by Islamic funeral rites, the website of Egyptian daily Al Ahram reports.
According to the Mufti, it is, however, possible to bury the former dictator in a Muslim cemetery, but his body should be washed by family members only: “the only people who can pray for his soul”. In the view of the Grand Mufti, the mortal remains of Colonel Gaddafi should be buried in an unknown place, in order to avoid fomenting divisions between Libyans by “making his tomb a place of pilgrimage”.
Reportedly, rebels sodomized  Muammar Gaddafi with a knife when he was captured.
SIRTE, Libya — An analysis of video obtained by GlobalPost from a rebel fighter who recorded the moment when Col. Muammar Gaddafi was first captured confirms that another rebel fighter, whose identity is unknown, sodomized the former leader as he was being dragged from the drainpipe where he had taken cover.

A frame by frame analysis of this exclusive GlobalPost video clearly shows the rebel trying to insert some kind of stick or knife into Gaddafi's rear end.

Shocker: States are in debt for $4.2 trillion

States are drowning in debt. Much of it is due to unfunded pension liabilities caused by aggressive public employee unions..
(CNBC) — The total of U.S. state debt, including pension liabilities, could surpass $4 trillion, with California owing the most and Vermont owing the least, a new analysis says.
The nonprofit State Budget Solutions combined states’ major debt and future liabilities, primarily for pensions and employee healthcare, unemployment insurance loans, outstanding bonds and projected fiscal 2011 budget gaps. It found that in total, states are in debt for $4.2 trillion.
The group, which follows state fiscal conditions and advocates for limited spending and taxes, said the deficit calculations that states make “do not offer a full picture of the states’ liabilities and can rely on budget gimmicks and accounting games to hide the extent of the deficit.”...
The top debt owing states are 'who's who' list of states that voted for Barack Obama in 2008.
California still owes the most under the alternative computation, but the state's total debt drops significantly, to $307 billion. With the Pew numbers, New Jersey follows with $183 billion of debt and Illinois is next at $150 billion.

According to the analysis, California has also borrowed the most from the federal government to pay for unemployment benefits, $8.6 billion. Michigan was next, taking out $3.1 billion, and then New York, borrowing $2.9 billion.

Video: Former Soviet Citizen Blasts OWS Protester over Socialism

Clueless: The OWS protester actually claims the difference between North Korea and South Korea is the people in the north get paid a decent wage. Huh? They are starving to death while toiling away for a brutal dictator.

TSA is now writing personal sexual messages for travelers

Can we privatize air travel security now?
A blogger and co-founder of the website Feministe recently flew from Newark to Dublin, and upon arrival found a very special personalized message from the TSA in her suitcase. Jill, who withholds her last name from part of the Internets, tells Forbes that when she unpacked her bag this morning, she discovered a note scrawled on the official form from the TSA informing her that her bag had been inspected. "GET YOUR FREAK ON GIRL," it read.

Jill believes the personalized message has something to do with the contents of her suitcase, which included a silver bullet vibrator from Babeland. She tells Forbes she brought that particular device "specifically because [she] figured it wouldn’t raise any red flags at TSA."

If you can't beat them, join them: Liberals try out "Obamacare" term

Liberals have given up trying to get people to stop using the pejorative term Obamacare for President Obama's health care takeover. They are now using it in an ad.
(WaPo) — In the political conversation about health-care reform, the term “Obamacare” is almost always used as a pejorative, hurled at the law in long floor speeches and short political ads deriding the Affordable Care Act.
Now, health reform’s staunchest supporters want to change that. Today, two Colorado-based groups are launching “Thanks Obamacare!,” a new site and campaign to promote the health reform law. There’s even a video that ticks off 10 benefits of the health reform law with heavy reliance on the word Obamacare:

Flashback: DNC Chief Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz tried to have the term "Obamacare" banned from the House floor.
After two House Republicans called it “ObamaCare,” Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) asked the chairman whether these “disparaging” remarks should be allowed on the House floor.

“That is a disparaging reference to the president of the United States; it is meant as a disparaging reference to the president of the United States, and it is clearly in violation of the House rules against that,” she said.

Because Wasserman Schultz only asked if it would be appropriate to curb the use of the term “ObamaCare,” the chairman said he would not rule on a hypothetical. But he did urge members to “refrain from engaging in personalities or descriptions about personalities in general.

WH press secretary Jay Carney: If you liked our previous EO's, you haven't seen nothing yet

What ever happened to the rule of law?

From Politico 44:
Some highlights from White House press secretary Jay Carney’s Q&A with reporters on Monday:
  • Carney said that “you’ll be seeing more of” the use of executive orders. “Why use it? Because we have to do everything we can,” he said of the economy
  • Carney swiped at Mitt Romney’s economic plan, saying: “What we firmly do not believe is that the answer is not to simply let the housing market bottom out and let investors come in and fix the problem. That’s not a solution. That’s a solution that basically says to middle-class Americans who have been responsibly paying their mortgage and who, through no fault of their own, have seen their economic situation get quite desperate because of the prices in the housing market that you’re on your own — tough luck, I’m not going to help you.”

Heartache: President Obama is lonely on the campaign trail

Democrats running for office are avoiding President Obama like he had the ebola virus.

Via Politico:
Roughly a year out from the 2012 presidential election, that may be true. But already, as Obama’s most recent forays into battleground states indicate, there are growing signs that many Democratic politicians don’t want to get too close to him either.

In trips to Michigan, North Carolina, and Pennsylvania — all states that he carried in 2008 — members of Congress were notably missing from the president’s side. Though none came out and said they were deliberately avoiding him, they didn’t have to: Dodging a presidential candidate who’s riding low in the polls is a time-honored political practice.

The last three elections — the Sept. 13 House special elections in New York and Nevada and the Oct. 4 West Virginia special governor’s election — haven’t done much to inspire confidence about Obama’s ability to help the entire ticket: the president was unquestionably an anchor on the Democratic nominees in each race.

For Obama, who’s led a charmed political life since bursting onto the national stage in 2004 — he was in high demand on the campaign trail even before he won his Senate seat that year — it’s a harbinger of a humbling election year to come.

VP Joe Biden Starts Walking Back "Rape and Murder" Comments

VP Joe Biden still thinks fewer police on the street will mean more rapes and murders, but he isn't holding Republicans personally responsible anymore.

From Beltway Confidential:
Vice President Joe Biden doubled down on his argument that rapes and murders will increase if Republicans block President Obama’s jobs proposals, although he did not hold opponents personally responsible for the crimes.

“Is it your intention to say,” CNN’s Candy Crowley asked, “that if Republicans don’t pass the president’s jobs bill, they will be responsible for increases in rape and murder?” Biden replied, “Well, no . . . [but] when you drastically cut the number of police in cities, which is happening all across America, crime goes up. That is a fact.”

After Crowley noted that “the crime rate in 2010 was down 6 percent for serious crimes,” Biden seemed to contradict himself. “That’s true about the crime rate, but you didn’t have the emasculation,” he said, adding that “They’ve laid off over 15,000 cops, 10,000 in the last 18 months.” He didn’t attempt to explain why the crime rate fell in 2010 as municipalities laid off police officers.

Crowley asked if he thought the rhetoric of rape and murder qualified as “unfair politics,” but Biden denied that charge.  ”It’s a little bit like saying, we had a major flood, we think we should go in and help people rebuild their homes,” the Vice President explained. “[Republicans] may say no, that’s not the federal government’s responsibility, or if you do that, we ought to cut their aid to education or something.”
The truth is there is no one-on-one link between the number of police and crime. NYC has had both declining number of police and declining crime.

How green energy is causing the Western World to trade our OPEC masters for Chinese masters

The reason is rare earths. They are needed for manufacture of everything from compact florescent bulbs to the generators on wind turbines. The Chines have the market cornered and they know it.
By closing or nationalizing dozens of the producers of rare earth metals — which are used in energy-efficient bulbs and many other green-energy products — China is temporarily shutting down most of the industry and crimping the global supply of the vital resources.

China produces nearly 95 percent of the world’s rare earth materials, and it is taking the steps to improve pollution controls in a notoriously toxic mining and processing industry. But the moves also have potential international trade implications and have started yet another round of price increases for rare earths, which are vital for green-energy products including giant wind turbines, hybrid gasoline-electric cars and compact fluorescent bulbs.

General Electric, facing complaints in the United States about rising prices for its compact fluorescent bulbs, recently noted in a statement that if the rate of inflation over the last 12 months on the rare earth element europium oxide had been applied to a $2 cup of coffee, that coffee would now cost $24.55.
It's not like the U.S. doesn't have it's own sources. We just can't mine it because of the high environmental regulation cost.
But in 2006, nearly all of the world’s roughly 137,000-ton supply of rare-earth oxides came from China. And over the past few years, China has cut exports to nurture its own permanent-magnet industry, sending the price of neodymium oxide to a high of $60 a kilo in 2007. This worries analysts like Irving Mintzer, a senior adviser to the Potomac Energy Fund who sees shortages stifling clean-tech industry, and worse. “If we don’t think this through, we could be trading a troubling dependence on Middle Eastern oil for a troubling dependence on Chinese neodymium.”

Rare earths are actually fairly common. What’s rare is finding deposits that can be mined profitably, in part because most contain radioactive thorium. Relatively speaking, Mountain Pass—whose rare-earth deposits were discovered in 1949—is not too radioactive, and through the 1950s the ore was mostly used to make flints for lighters. In the 1960s, the pit grew deeper as demand increased for the rare-earth element europium, which was used to create the red tones in color TVs. In fact, until 1989, the expanding pit at Mountain Pass supplied most of the world’s rare earths...
Mountain Pass was forced to shut down.
Mountain Pass couldn’t compete on price alone—especially given the mine’s growing ecological costs.
They are trying to reopen it, but the environmental monitoring cost will be $2.4 million a year alone. Basically, instead of being at the mercy of OPEC for oil, we are now at the mercy of China for rare earths. This is why most "green jobs" are actually created in China. They can make cost effective wind turbines and solar panels because they have access to cheaper materials. This isn't an accident.

Democrats Attack Republican Candidate for Being Gay. What?

Hypocrites...
(Reason)- Patrick Forrest is running against incumbent Janet Howell. Forrest is a Republican, which everyone knows. He is also gay. Not everyone knows that, but some Democrats in Northern Virginia—including Howell, Forrest says—are trying to educate them.

Forrest says a number of conservatives have told him, “We heard you’re a homosexual.” He has told them he is, and has always been openly gay. As Forrest tells the tale, they have said they learned about it from Democratic volunteers, who also told them Forrest “would be promoting the homosexual agenda in our schools.” Nice.
That somebody is gay-baiting seems beyond dispute. Forrest’s field director, Eric Newland, recorded a conversation with Kavita Imarti, a precinct captain for the Democratic Party in Reston. On the recording, made at a party earlier this month, a seemingly drunk Imarti defends the tactic.

When Newland asks if “it’s okay for the campaign to be telling people” about Forrest’s sexual orientation, Imarti responds: “Yes! Because you guys are racist [expletives]. . . . You’re racist [expletive-expletives]. You guys are prejudiced against someone because of their sexuality. We are basically pinpointing your prejudice.”

Hillary Clinton Spikes Football After Europeans Score Libya Touchdown

Moammar Gadhafi has been removed from power in Libya and reduced to room temperature. Europeans Hillary Clinton is spiking the football.
(Politico) — Secretary of State Hillary Clinton mounted a strong defense of her formal rival’s foreign policy on Sunday, describing President Barack Obama as showing “smart leadership in a complex world.”
What we’ve seen from President Obama over the last two-and-half years and, remarkably, with the events of the last six months is that his kind of smart leadership in a complex world is paying off,” Clinton said on “Fox News Sunday”. “He was the one who brought [Osama] bin Laden finally down. He was the one who put together a coalition that eventually removed [Muammar] Qadhafi. So I think it’s important that in this very complex, dangerous world that we have someone in the White House who understands America has to lead. But we have to look at every situation and make the right decision.”
President Obama is the one who brought together the coalition that got Gadhafi? Let's see what other said about Obama's leadership on Libya.

Time:
But the bigger question for Sarkozy and Cameron is how to run the operation without U.S. leadership. Indeed, the main push to bring NATO into play came from Washington, where Obama — a late convert to military action in Libya — is loath to get U.S. troops entangled in another war in a Muslim state after Iraq and Afghanistan.

Bloomberg:
...While Obama had declared on March 8 that Qaddafi must go, he was reluctant to back up his words with U.S. military might until other nations stepped up and the United Nations Security Council authorized the use of “all necessary measures” to protect Libyan civilians.

During the 96 hours after Obama entered the Situation Room that day, his reluctance evaporated. The Libyan dictator vowed to destroy opposition “rats,” the Arab League pledged to help enforce the no-fly zone it endorsed days earlier and countries opposed to the military intervention -- Russia and China -- agreed to put aside objections. Finally, European leaders agreed to take the lead with the U.S. playing a supporting role.
  NY Times:
Yet this small and successful war will have major strategic consequences for both NATO and the European Union, as a result of President Barack Obama’s decision to “lead from behind,” and Chancellor Angela Merkel’s refusal to get involved.

After the first days of the conflict, Obama signaled that U.S. strike aircraft would no longer be put in the firing line, and that the United States would not lead the coalition’s operations. This was the first time since the Cold War that the U.S. decided to neither exercise leadership nor fully share risks in a war in which it was otherwise participating.
The French president and the British prime minister should be spiking this football. President obama and Hillary should be looking humble.

Senate Democrats Finally Address America's Biggest Problem: Fake Maple Syrup

Six Senate Democrats have introduced legislation that would make selling fake maple syrup a felony offense. It is good to see they have their priorities in order. It's not like up to 16.5% of Americans are out of work or something. Oh, wait...
(The Hill)- Six senators introduced legislation that would make selling fake maple syrup a felony offense leading to fines and up to five years in prison.

The Maple Agriculture Protection and Law Enforcement (MAPLE) Act is a response to what chief sponsor Sen. Patrick Leahy (D-Vt.) and others say is the increasing practice of cheating Vermont, Upstate New York and other maple syrup regions by selling inferior, fake syrup.

“I have been alarmed by the growing number of individuals and businesses claiming to sell genuine Vermont maple syrup when they are in fact selling an inferior product that is not maple syrup at all,” Leahy said Thursday. “This is fraud, plain and simple, and it undermines a key part of Vermont’s economy and reputation for quality that has been hard-earned through Vermonters’ hard work.”

He added that others in the syrup-producing regions of Maine, New York and other states also have been hurt. Sens. Susan Collins (R-Maine), Kirsten Gillibrand (D-N.Y.), Bernie Sanders (I-Vt.), Charles Schumer (D-N.Y.) and Olympia Snowe (R-Maine) are all co-sponsors.
