Dingy Harry Reid to DC Mayor concerned about shutdown funding: "Don't screw it up"

D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray and D.C. Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton took Harry Reid to task for blocking a bill already passed in the House to allow D.C. to spend their own tax money during the shutdown. Harry Reid, Obama and Senate democrats don't want to pass any of the House separate spending bills. It interferes with their campaign to make the public feel the pain of the shutdown. I think we can assume this is what dingy Harry was referring to when he said, "Don't screw it up..."

Via NBC Washington:
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid scolded D.C. Mayor Vincent Gray on the steps of the U.S. Capitol Wednesday after Gray crashed a Senate press conference as part of his campaign against the federal government shutdown.
"I'm on your side," snapped Reid (D-Nev.), to the D.C. mayor. "Don't screw it up, OK. I'm on your side."
Gray is calling on city residents to join him in speaking out against the federal government shutdown. He appeared Wednesday morning alongside D.C. Delegate Eleanor Holmes Norton and Rep. Darrell Issa (R-Calif.) at a rally outside the Capitol, steps from the site of another event headlined by Reid.
After Gray's rally, the mayor went over to Reid's press conference and stood next to him, then tried to talk to him, demanding a vote to let D.C. spend its own money. That's when Reid gave him the terse response.

John Allen Muhammad Will Get The Needle Tuesday

The DC sniper mastermind, John Allen Muhammad, has lost his appeal to the Supreme Court for a stay of his execution. Muhammad will die by lethal injection for the slaying of Dean Harold Meyers at a gas station during a three-week spree in 2002. Muhammad is also implicated in several other shootings. The sniper attacks terrorized residents of Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C. in 2002.

From FOX News:
The U.S. Supreme Court has refused to block Tuesday's scheduled execution of sniper mastermind John Allen Muhammad.

The Court did not comment Monday on why it refused to consider his appeal.
Muhammad is scheduled to die by injection at a Virginia prison for the slaying of Dean Harold Meyers at a gas station during a three-week spree in October 2002 across Maryland, Virginia and Washington, D.C.

Don't holds your breath waiting for Virginia Gov. Timothy M. Kaine to grant clemency.

Whatever happened to former D.C. Mayor Marion Barry?

He has turned up at a gala at the Ritz-Carlton where there was a charity auction for cancer. Despite owing thousands in back taxes, former DC Mayor Marion Barry payed $800 bucks for an opera coat at the auction. He outbid CNN's Wolf Blitzer. MyFoxDC.com reported:
WASHINGTON - Former D.C. Mayor Marion Barry owes thousands of dollars in back taxes, but that hasn't stopped him from buying his girlfriend an $800 coat.

Barry tells The Washington Post he bought the opera coat with his own money Saturday at a cancer auction. He says he topped CNN's Wolf Blitzer during the bidding.

An opera coat is an elegant evening wrap, typically made of velvet.
