Obama has a serious white voter problem...

Barack Obama may have 57% of the minority vote, but Romney is beating Obama among white voters by 20%.

Via Rasmussen:
The Rasmussen Reports daily Presidential Tracking Poll for Tuesday shows Mitt Romney attracting 47% of the vote, while President Obama earns support from 44%. Five percent (5%) prefer some other candidate, and four percent (4%) are undecided.

Romney has a 20-point advantage among white voters.  Obama is supported by 91% of black voters and 57% of other minority voters.

Stupid: Obama going to Ohio to campaign; landing at Air Force Base he plans to close...

Over 800 jobs will be lost in Ohio when the base closes. You just can't fix stupid...
Air Force One will touch down in a swirl of defense controversy in Mansfield, Ohio, Wednesday as President Obama makes a third campaign trip in four weeks to the battleground state.

“If President Obama has his way, his Air Force One arrival would be one of the final flights into Mansfield-Lahm Airport,” claims Sen. Rob Portman, who is often a surrogate campaigner in Ohio for Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney.

The Mansfield News Journal has run a series of stories and editorials expressing local worries that the air mission of the 179th Airlift Wing of the Ohio Air National Guard will end if proposed Pentagon budget cuts close it down. The local paper quotes Vice Commander Col. Michael Howard as saying he will park the wing’s C-27J aircraft on the tarmac in full view of Air Force One to make a point to the visiting president. The 179th has four of the planes, two currently deployed in Afghanistan.

OWS changes planned DNC protest name to keep from embarrassing Democrats

The planned protest at the Republican convention is still named "Occupy the RNC."

Via US News:

A protest by any other name is still a protest. But not all protests are an occupation.

Two months after the major group planning to protest the Democratic National Convention changed its name, a new and bigger demonstration is being planned for the September event. This time, it's being led by "original" Occupy protesters.

Protest organizer John Penley, among the first to join the Occupy protests in Zuccotti Park, says some Occupy protesters were disturbed by the name change, which turned the "Coalition to Protest at the DNC" into the "Coalition to March on Wall Street South — Building People's Power During the DNC."

The change in nomenclature, he said, let Democrats off the hook.

And so despite the perception that Occupy is more liberal than it is conservative, Penley says his demonstration, "Occupy the Military Industrial Complex," will very much target President Barack Obama.

"We're targeting Obama's out of control military spending," he told Whispers. "It's the key to so many problems in the U.S. That, and the drone strikes on American citizens. And the NDAA. People feel so upset with Obama."

Harry Reid Spreads Romney Rumors

Harry Reid is sharing a rumor he heard that Romeny didn't pay any taxes for 10 years at Bain Capital. I can top that. I heard a rumor Obama is a secret Muslim.

Via The Hill:

An investor with Bain Capital told Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) that Mitt Romney didn't pay taxes for 10 years, Reid said.

About a month ago, Reid said, someone who had previously invested with the venture capital firm called him to say that the former Massachusetts governor hadn't payed taxes for a decade.

"Harry, he didn't pay any taxes for 10 years," Reid said he was told, according to The Huffington Post on Tuesday.

Reid said he wasn't sure if the tip was true or not.

Democrats aren't coming for your guns. They are coming for your ammo...

There is more than one way to skin the gun control cat...

Via Washington Times:
White House spokesman Josh Earnest said Monday that President Obama will "evaluate" a new bill that would ban online ammunition sales in the wake of the shooting massacre in Aurora, Colo. That left 12 dead and dozens more injured.

During the daily press briefing, Mr. Earnest was asked whether Mr. Obama supports the measure, which aims to end sales of unlimited amounts of ammunition on the Internet and other mail orders. The bill also would force ammunition dealers to report large sales of bullets and other munitions to law enforcement authorities.

At first Mr. Earnest said he didn't know if Mr. Obama was aware of a bill sponsored by Sen. Frank Lautenberg, Democrat from New Jersey, and Rep. Carolyn McCarthy, a Democrat from New York. He later amended this remarks to say the White House would evaluate the measure.

HSS Janet Napolitano admits terrorists crossing southern border

Janet Napolitano is doing everything she can to keep the border safe, except for effectively guarding it or building a fence.
(CNSNews.com) -- Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano told Congress last week that terrorists intending to harm the American people enter the U.S. from Mexico “from time to time."

At a July 25 hearing of the House Homeland Security Committee, Rep. Ron Barber (D-Ariz.) asked Napolitano: “As you know, Madam Secretary, there have been anecdotal reports about material evidence of the presence of terrorists along our southern border. My question is, is there any credible evidence that these reports are accurate and that terrorists are, in fact, crossing our southern border with the intent to do harm to the American people?”

Napolitano answered: “With respect, there have been--and the Ababziar matter would be one I would refer to that's currently being adjudicated in the criminal courts--from time to time, and we are constantly working against different and evolving threats involving various terrorist groups and various ways they may seek to enter the country.”

“What I can tell you, however, is that that southern border--the U.S.-Mexico border--is heavily, heavily staffed at record amounts of manpower, materiel, infrastructure and the like, and we are constantly making sure we're doing all we can to make that border as safe as possible,” she said.

Unlikely: Obama predicts he will get the economy “going full guns.”

As a side note, Obama also found something about the founding fathers that he likes: Their negative campaign advertising.

Via Beltway Confidential:

President Obama invoked the founding generation of American politicians to defend his negative campaigning before predicting that he will get the economy “going full guns.”

“And this phase of the campaign I think you’re seeing a lot of negative ads and a lot of contrast ads — although when people start saying how terrible it is,” Obama said during a fundraiser at the NoMad Hotel in New York City, “I just have to remind them [to] take a look at what Jefferson and Adams had to say about each other, and democracy has always been pretty rough and pretty messy.” (“Contrast ad” is the Obama campaign’s preferred term for their hits on Romney).

Federal Court rules Obama political appointee interfered in New Black Panthers case

Political interference is the only logical explanation for the actions of the Justice Department in letting this intimidatory behavior go unpunished.

Via Washington Examiner:

A federal court in Washington, DC, held today that political appointees appointed by President Obama did interfere with the Department of Justice’s prosecution of the New Black Panther Party.

The ruling came as part of a motion by the conservative legal watch dog group Judicial Watch, who had sued the DOJ in federal court to enforce a Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) request for documents pertaining to the the New Black Panthers case. Judicial Watch had secured many previously unavailable documents through their suit against DOJ and were now suing for attorneys’ fees.

Obama’s DOJ had claimed Judicial Watch was not entitled to attorney’s fees since “none of the records produced in this litigation evidenced any political interference whatsoever in” how the DOJ handled the New Black Panther Party case. But United States District Court Judge Reggie Walton disagreed.

White House admits they don't think Jerusalem is the capital of Israel

Oy vey!

Via CNSNews.com:
In what marks a decisive difference in the presidential campaign, one day after Republican presidential candidate Mitt Romney called Jerusalem the capital of Israel, the White House asserted that Romney’s position was different from that of the Obama administration.

“Our view is that that is a different position than this administration holds. It’s the view of this administration that the capital should be determined in final status negotiations between parties,” White House spokesman Josh Earnest told reporters Monday.

“I would remind you that that is the position that has been held by previous administrations both Democratic and Republican. So, if Mr. Romney disagrees with that position, he is also disagreeing with positions taken by previous presidents like Bill Clinton and Ronald Reagan,” Earnest added.

Michigan Unions Try to Pass Constitutional Amendment to Prevent 'Right to Work' Laws

Strangely, they have  named the amendment the “Protect Our Jobs Act.” If they had called it the "Destroy Michigan's Economy Act," that would be closer to the truth."

Reuters via Yahoo:
The union-backed ballot proposal would make collective bargaining a constitutionally protected right and cripple efforts to pass so-called “right to work” legislation in the state. Critics say the measure, which would cover private as well as public employees, would be a “death warrant” for Michigan’s economy because it would discourage businesses from bringing new jobs to Michigan and encourage some already in the state to leave.
But the Mackinac Center and other critics, including the Michigan Chamber of Commerce, say the amendment – which supporters call the “Protect Our Jobs Act” – would be a more sweeping measure.
They claim it would allow public-sector unions to use contract negotiations to override acts of the legislature, such as laws limiting how much taxpayers pay for government employee healthcare.
“It is extremely radical and would fundamentally change the power structure in Michigan,” Vernuccio said.

Amusing: White House forced to admit the "100% false" claim they returned Winston Churchill's bust is 100% true...

I wonder how the White House likes their crow cooked?

Via The Telegraph:
Barack Obama's White House has been forced to admit that it did return a bust of Sir Winston Churchill to British diplomats, after describing such claims as "100 per cent false".[...]

"This is 100 per cent false," Mr Pfeiffer said. "The bust is still in the White House. In the Residence. Outside the Treaty Room". Illustrating his statement with a photograph of Mr Obama inspecting it with David Cameron in 2010, he added: "Hopefully this clears things up a bit and prevents folks from making this ridiculous claim again".

British officials were surprised by Mr Pfeiffer's statement and photograph, however, because the bust now resides in the residence of Sir Peter Westmacott, Britain's ambassador to the US. Further inquiries led to the discovery that there are, in fact, two matching Churchill busts by Epstein... Keep on reading...

Obama’s budget director predicts $1.2 trillion budget deficit for 2012. What happened to cutting deficit in half?

Via Washington Examiner:
President Obama’s budget director predicted a $1.2 trillion budget deficit for 2012 today, which prompted one senator to call for the president to pull down a Obama campaign ad that promises to “pay down the debt.”
“For 2012, the deficit is now projected to be $1.211 trillion, $116 billion lower than the $1.327 trillion deficit projected in February,” Jeff Zients, director of the Office of Management and Budget, wrote on the White House blog.  “This reflects lower-than-expected spending, partially offset by lower-than-expected receipts.”
His projection comes just days after Obama released a campaign advertisement that proposes “asking the wealthy to pay a little more so that we can pay down our debt in a balanced way.” Zients alluded to the tax increase proposal when he said that “Congress can and must enact a comprehensive and balanced deficit reduction package, along the lines of the President’s Budget” — a budget unanimously rejected by the House and the Senate.

Politifact Gives Obama "Pants on Fire" Ruling For Romney Abortion Stance Ad

Here is Obama's lying ad.

Here is what liberal leaning Politifact said.

Our Ruling

The ad from the Obama campaign said Romney "backed a bill that outlaws all abortions, even in cases of rape and incest."

The Obama campaign provides virtually nothing to back that up, however. It has no evidence that Romney explicitly opposed the exception for rape and incest. While he supported the "human life amendment," there are many versions and the most recent ones allow abortion after rape or incest. And it's worth noting that in 2011, Romney declared that has said he supports those exceptions.

In its effort to appeal to women, the Obama campaign has twisted Romney's position to a ridiculous degree. We rate the claim Pants on Fire.

57 coal fired generators will shut down in 2012

President Obama seen nodding in approval...

Via The Daily Caller:
Facing declining demand for electricity and stiff federal environmental regulations, coal plant operators are planning to retire 175 coal-fired generators, or 8.5 percent of the total coal-fired capacity in the United States, according to an analysis by the Energy Information Administration (EIA).

A record-high 57 generators will shut down in 2012, representing 9 gigawatts of electrical capacity, according to EIA. In 2015, nearly 10 gigawatts of capacity from 61 coal-fired generators will be retired.

While many of those coal plants are old and relatively inefficient, the scope of this new planned shutdown is unprecedented.

Top border immigration agents explain how Obama thwarts immigration law for even violent illegals

Via Washington Times:
Senator Jeff Sessions, Alabama Republican, introduced two top border immigration agents on Thursday to talk about the lax enforcement directives they are given by the Department of Homeland Security and how illegal immigrants are cheating the system to get into United States even after multiple violent crimes have been committed.
“The Administration claims it has diligently enforced immigration law and that the border is ‘more secure than ever.’ But those on the front lines know this to be untrue. They see the violence, chaos and lawlessness. They have lost confidence in the leadership of their agencies…

As you will hear today, this administration has engaged in a sustained, relentless effort to undermine America’s immigration laws,” said Sessions.
Back in mid June, President Obama issued an executive order that halted the deportation of illegal immigrants that came to he United States as young children. The directive also gives these individuals, numbering about eight hundred thousand, the ability to work legally in the country as well.

Poll: Most Americans don't care if Romney is a Mormon and Obama is a Muslim...

Religion isn't a decisive factor in the minds of voters anymore.
Sixty percent of voters are aware that Romney is a Mormon, and 81 percent say it does not matter to them, according to the poll by the Pew Research Center. The awareness level is almost unchanged from four months ago, during the Republican primary elections.

"Unease with Romney's religion has little impact on voting preferences," the Pew report said.
"Republicans and white evangelicals overwhelmingly back Romney irrespective of their views of his faith, and Democrats and seculars overwhelmingly oppose him regardless of their impression."[...]

Obama is a Christian but the view that he is Muslim persists almost four years into his presidency, with 17 percent of voters saying he is Muslim. Forty-nine percent say he is Christian, down from 55 percent near the end of his 2008 campaign, and 31 percent say they do not know Obama's religion.[...]
Overall, 45 percent of voters are comfortable with Obama's religion, 5 percent say it does not matter and 19 percent are uncomfortable.

Humorous: Oprah gets slammed in India

It's about time Oprah got her comeuppance. Kudos to India.
Oprah Winfrey's special program on India drew the ire of several Indian media outlets on July 21, who called the show "myopic, unaware, ignorant and gauche." The program was featured in the "Oprah's Next Chapter" series, which has the long-time talk show star traipsing around outside the studio for "enlightening conversations with newsmakers, celebrities, thought leaders and real-life families."

Her foray in India aired in the United States in April but premiered in India this weekend. The two-episode special featured a trip to some Mumbai slums, the Jaipur Literature Festival and the glitzy homes of Bollywood stars.

Winfrey was criticized for reinforcing exotic and backward stereotypes of India, particularly when she commented that she heard that Indians "still" eat with their hands.  "I don't know what people in America are eating their hot dogs, pizzas and tacos with but perhaps Oprah's home has evolved cutlery for all that," commented Rajyasree Sen, a columnist on Firstpost, an online Indian newspaper.

Finally, a man aisle at the grocery store

It's about time men stopped being subjected to horrible discrimination at the grocery store... /sarc
Sometime last year, Procter & Gamble Co. was throwing around some crazy ideas of creating a grocery aisle specifically for men, apparently a brand new breed of consumers walking around grocery stores.

The idea was to give the lonely male lost in a supermarket a fun shopping experience, putting everything a man's man would need in one place. And New York City's Westside Market has gone and done just that.

Called "The Man Aisle," the space stocks stereotypically male items like beer, cereal, soda, beef jerky, hot sauces, barbecue sauces, condoms, and oh, Chock Full o'Nuts coffee.

"People rarely cater to men in the supermarket," COO Ian Joskowitz told us over the phone. "So I thought let’s do something fun, get people talking, something guys would like. So we started discussion, and it’s funny because most of us came up with a very similar list."

This was, of course, spawned by a recent ESPN study showing that 31 percent of grocery shoppers are now men, in comparison to the 14 percent in 1985.

Demo Pennsylvania election official to refuse to enforce voter ID law

You can't get on an airplane, buy a pack of smokes, sign up for social security, cash a check, purchase a gun, pick up FedEx mail, enter Eric Holder's Justice Department or a host of other everyday activities without proper identification. I find it incredible that Democrats think it's a burden to ask for a photo ID to vote. I have carried a photo ID every day since I was sixteen. The only people I know who don't carry ID are criminals who don't want cops to know their real name because they have warrants. If there are law-abiding citizens out there without a photo ID, we would be doing them a public service if we expedited them getting one.

Via HuffPo:
A local election official in Pennsylvania announced plans Thursday to defy the state and resist enforcing its newly enacted voter ID law, signed by Gov. Tom Corbett (R) earlier this year.

“To ask me to enforce something that violates civil rights is ludicrous and absolutely something I am not willing to do,” Broach told the outlet in an interview.

The U.S. economy recovery is stalling out

Growth has decreased to only 1.5%. Anything below 2% won't lower the unemployment rate...
WASHINGTON (AP) – The U.S. economy grew at an annual rate of just 1.5 percent from April through June, as Americans cut back sharply on spending. The slowdown in growth adds to worries that the economy could be stalling three years after the recession ended.
The Commerce Department also said Friday that the economy grew a little better than previously thought in the January-March quarter. It raised its estimate to a 2 percent rate, up from 1.9 percent.
Growth at or below 2 percent isn’t enough to lower the unemployment rate, which was 8.2 percent last month. And most economists don’t expect growth to pick up much in the second half of the year. Europe’s financial crisis and a looming budget crisis in the U.S. are expected to slow business investment further.

200,000 small businesses have vanished

President Obama should have built some more roads and bridges to those business. That is what he thinks makes them successful.

Via Fox News:
More than 200,000 small businesses vanished between early 2008 and 2010 — a period covering the Great Recession and its immediate aftermath — taking with them in excess of 3 million jobs, according to Census figures which illustrate the depth of the country’s economic hole.
Data is only available until 2010, but the U.S. Census Bureau stats reveal a startling slide for America’s businesses. While the country boasted 5.14 million firms with up to 99 employees as of March 2008, that number dropped to 4.92 million by March 2010 – representing a loss of roughly 223,800 businesses and 3.1 million workers.
The Obama administration notes that the trend has since reversed, and that the country has seen 28 consecutive months of private-sector job growth.
But a recent slowdown in private-sector hiring has raised questions about the direction and strength of that recovery. And amid an escalating campaign trail battle about President Obama’s recent remarks on businesses, a new poll shows American business owners are harboring serious doubts.

Boston Mayor Menino Walks Back Threat To Block Chick-fil-A Out Of Boston

Drug dealers buying elections in Eastern Kentucky

There aren't a lot of jobs in Eastern Kentucky. You mostly either work in the coal industry, which Obama is trying to destroy, or you work for the government. Eastern Kentucky has a long history of vote buying and voter fraud. Government jobs are highly sought after and local elections are very important because they determine who does the hiring. In the last few decades drugs and social welfare programs have expanded their use and influence. If you don't have a job, you either grow a crop(marijuana) or get a check(from the government.) The grow a crop plan has expanded into meth, Oxycontin and other hard drugs, but the dealers understand the importance of being in favor with the politicians in power.
Voter fraud has a shocking new meaning in eastern Kentucky.
That is where in some cases, major cocaine and marijuana dealers admitted to buying votes to steal elections, and the result is the corruption of American democracy. The government continues to mete out justice in the scandal, as two people convicted in April in a vote-buying case face sentencing this week, and another public official pleaded guilty Tuesday to conspiracy.
"We believe that drug money did buy votes," Kerry B. Harvey, U.S. attorney for the Eastern District of Kentucky, said of a separate vote-buying case.
He described a stunning vote-buying scheme that includes "very extensive, organized criminal activity, involving hundreds of thousands of dollars, and in many cases that involves drug money."
Harvey has led a recent string of federal prosecutions exposing the widespread and accepted practice of vote buying in eastern Kentucky. The soft-spoken federal prosecutor, along with his team and state authorities, are waging a battle against what he characterizes as a vote-buying culture embedded in many of the communities for generations.

While Barack Obama has taken to swing state airwaves to walk back his recent comments that business owners “didn’t build” their businesses, Massachusetts Senate candidate Elizabeth Warren is not backing down from similar comments she made last year.
In a 2011 video that went viral on left-wing blogs, Warren told a group of supporters that “there is nobody in this country who got rich on their own.
“Of course I stand by those remarks,” Warren said.

International AIDS Conference held in US for 1st time in 22 years. Obama skips it for fundraiser...

Do you remember when we had a President who really cared about aids? On the other hand, AIDS activists have been heckling Obama.

Via Bloomberg:

For all the dignitaries on the schedule at the International AIDS Conference this week in Washington, including Secretary of State Hillary Clinton, Microsoft Corp. co-founder Bill Gatesand former President Bill Clinton, it’s the absence of one that has activists talking.
With the conference being held in the U.S. for the first time in 22 years, President Barack Obama is out of town campaigning and raising money for his re-election. His only presence is a 50-second cameo in a three-minute video welcoming delegates. Republican candidate Mitt Romney’s only appearance is in a video message to a meeting on the sidelines of the conference on the role of the faith community.
“It’s a huge missed opportunity,” said Matthew Kavanagh, head of policy for Health GAP, an advocacy organization on AIDS. “The people who are touched by HIV in this country and who care about HIV are potential core constituents for the president.”
Adding to the ire of activists is Obama’s proposed 2013 budget, which would cut funding for the President’s Emergency Plan for AIDS Relief, an initiative started by President George W. Bush, by seven percent compared with 2010 levels.

Ft. Hood Shooter to be forcibly shaved?

Where do you go to volunteer to help?
(ABC News) — An Army psychiatrist charged with killing 13 people in a shooting rampage at Fort Hood will be forcibly shaved if he doesn’t remove his beard himself, a judge said Wednesday.

Maj. Nidal Hasan appeared in court Wednesday sporting a beard as he did during a court appearance last month. The beard violates Army regulations, but Hasan said it is an expression of his Muslim faith.

The judge, Col. Gregory Gross, held Hasan in contempt of court for keeping the beard and fined him $1,000. Fort Hood spokesman Chris Haug said Gross gave Hasan the choice to shave on his own or be forcibly shaved sometime before his court-martial begins Aug. 20. . . .

In wake of Aurora shooting, only 34% think stricter gun control would help...

19 percent believe stricter gun control would make violent crime worse...

Via Daily Caller:
After the tragic shooting in Colorado that killed at least 12 people and injured at least 58 more last Thursday, 41 percent of Americans said stricter gun control laws would have no impact on violent crime.
The national survey of 1,000 adults, conducted by Rasmussen July 20-21, has a margin of error of three percentage points. Thirty-four percent said stricter gun control laws would decrease violent crime and 19 percent believe violent crime would increase.
The survey also found 51 percent of Americans believe the U.S. does not need stricter gun control laws.

New RNC Video Ad: These Aren't Gaffes

This new RNC video ad is short and hard-hitting. Sometimes Obama slips and tells his true thoughts.

Key Solyndra Players Reward Obama With Large Campaign Donations

What do you get for giving a half a billion dollars in green money to a company headed to bankruptcy? You get a lot of campaign cash if your name is Barack Obama.
US President Barack Obama shook hands with some of his wealthiest supporters Tuesday night at a fundraising shindig in San Francisco. Also on hand, though, was a matter the commander-in-chief just can’t seem to shake: his failed deal with Solyndra.

Around sixty patrons paid $35,800 a piece to attend a party in honor of President Obama this week, including a pair of gentlemen who have become central figures in an energy debacle that has haunted the Oval Office since last year. Among those in attendance were two key players in the Solyndra scandal.

President Obama touted Solyndra, a California solar-panel start-up, as an example of perfect American entrepreneurship early on in his presidency. Last year, however, the infant green energy company filed for bankruptcy, despite the president earlier approving a gigantic loan guarantee worth $535 million for the Silicon Valley start-up. The company had borrowed all but $8 million of the massive loan before calling it quits late last year, a move that prompted Obama’s opponents to ridicule the president over what some said was “a dubious investment” and even initiated an investigated by the FBI.

Obama on economy: “we tried our plan — and it worked”

Clueless and out of touch...

Via Washington Examiner:
President Obama, discussing his economic policies during a fundraiser in California, told supporters last night that “we tried our plan — and it worked” as he explained why they should reelect him.
“We tried that and it didn’t work,” Obama said of Romney’s proposed tax cuts and spending cuts, which he dismissed as a Bush-style “top down” economic policy. “Just like we’ve tried their plan, we tried our plan — and it worked,” he added later in the speech. “That’s the difference. That’s the choice in this election. That’s why I’m running for a second term.”
Obama made these comments in Oakland, Calif., where the unemployment rate was 13.7 percent in May 2012. The national unemployment rate is 8.2 percent — up from 8.1 percent in May — for the second straight month.

Sen. Dianne Feinstein begins the slow walk back on comments WH was responsible for military leaks

Sen. Dianne Feinstein is in danger of getting the Cory Booker treatment. Booker has been ostracized by the Obama administration for telling the truth.

Via Politico:
Sen. Dianne Feinstein said Tuesday that she shouldn’t have speculated about leaks coming from the White House, walking back hear earlier comments that the White House was partly responsible for the leak of national security information.

The California Democrat, who chairs of the Senate Intelligence Committee, said she regretted speculating about the White House’s role in leaks relating to national security.

“I was asked [at the World Affairs Council on Monday] whether the White House might be responsible for recent national security leaks. I stated that I did not believe the president leaked classified information. I shouldn’t have speculated beyond that, because the fact of the matter is I don’t know the source of the leaks,” Feinstein said in her statement.

She had said at the WAC forum that she “think[s] the White House has to understand that some of this is coming from their ranks,” although she was careful to add that she didn’t think the president was behind the leaks.

Moron NYC Mayor Bloomberg forced to retract call for police to go on strike for more gun control

Bloomberg said this in response to the Aurora theater shooting.
“I don’t understand why the police officers across this country don’t stand up collectively and say we’re going to go on strike”

I guess someone pointed out to him it is illegal for the police to go on strike in many places, including NYC. Via WSJ:
Mayor Bloomberg appeared to distance himself Tuesday from comments he made on a talk show suggesting that the nation’s police officers should “go on strike” to demand tougher gun laws.
Bloomberg, who has been pushing for stronger gun legislation in the wake of last week’s movie theater shooting in Colorado, told CNN’s Piers Morgan on Monday that he doesn’t understand why officers “don’t stand up collectively and say, we’re going to go on strike.”
While Bloomberg, co-founder of Mayors Against Illegal Guns, has been an outspoken critic of gun violence, the comment supporting the idea of a strike seemed unusual for the mayor of a large city – and by Tuesday, he was walking back the statement.
“I didn’t mean literally go on strike,” he said at a Tuesday event about the economic impact of same-sex marriage. “In fact, in New York, they can’t go on strike. There’s a law against it.”

Apologizer-in-Chief Obama: “we will never apologize” to other countries...

Here’s a top 10 list of Obama’s apologies...
(CNS) – President Barack Obama, long criticized for what opponents consider apologies for the United States to other countries, asserted to a gathering of veterans Monday that “we will never apologize.”
“Just as you protected America, we’re going to pass our country to the next generation, stronger and safer and more respected in the world,” Obama said at the 113th annual convention of the Veterans of Foreign Wars in Reno, Nevada.
“So if anyone tries to tell you that our greatness has passed, that America is in decline, you tell them this: Just like the 20th century, the 21st is going to be another great American Century,” Obama said. “For we are Americans, blessed with the greatest form of government ever devised by man, a democracy dedicated to freedom and committed to the ideals that still light the world. We will never apologize for our way of life; we will never waver in its defense.”

Poll: More people now blame Obama for bad economy than George Bush, Wall Street or Congress

Obama now owns the economy...

Via The Hill:
Two-thirds of likely voters say the weak economy is Washington’s fault, and more blame President Obama than anybody else, according to a new poll for The Hill.

It found that 66 percent believe paltry job growth and slow economic recovery is the result of bad policy. Thirty-four percent say Obama is the most to blame, followed by 23 percent who say Congress is the culprit. Twenty percent point the finger at Wall Street, and 18 percent cite former President George W. Bush.

The results highlight the reelection challenge Obama faces amid dissatisfaction with his first-term performance on the economy.

The poll, conducted for The Hill by Pulse Opinion Research, found 53 percent of voters say Obama has taken the wrong actions and has slowed the economy down. Forty-two percent said he has taken the right actions to revive the economy, while six percent said they were not sure.

63% say Romney's Bain Capital business background would help in dealing with the nation’s economic problems

President Obama has spent 10's of millions of dollars on his Bain Capital attack against Romney. It has been a complete failure. Unfortunately for the Obama campaign, they don't have another major card to play. Romney appears to be squeaky clean. They could attack him for being a flip-flopper, but most of the issues he has flip-flopped on would make Independents and even Democrats more likely to vote for him, not less.
WASHINGTON – Despite concerted Democratic attacks on his business record, Republican challenger Mitt Romney scores a significant advantage over President Obama when it comes to managing the economy, reducing the federal budget deficit and creating jobs, a national USA TODAY/Gallup Poll finds.
By more than 2-1, 63%-29%, those surveyed say Romney’s background in business, including his tenure at the private equity firm Bain Capital, would cause him to make good decisions, not bad ones, in dealing with the nation’s economic problems over the next four years.
The findings raise questions about Obama’s strategy of targeting Bain’s record in outsourcing jobs and hammering Romney for refusing to commit to releasing more than two years of his tax returns. Instead, Americans seem focused on the economy, where disappointment with the fragile recovery and the 8.2% unemployment rate are costing the president.

Number of workers taking federal disability insurance payments hits record in July

8,753,935 are now drawing federal disability payments. Many of them are suffering from Obamanomics.
(CNSNews.com) – The number of workers taking federal disability insurance payments hit yet another record in July, increasing to 8,753,935 during the month from the previous record of 8,733,461 set in June, according to newly released data from the Social Security Administration.
The 8,753,935 workers who took federal disability insurance payments in July exceeded the population of 39 of the 50 states. Only 11 states—California, Texas, New York, Florida, Illinois, Pennsylvania, Ohio, Michigan, Georgia, North Carolina and New Jersey—had more people in them than the number of workers on the federal disability insurance rolls in July.
Virginia, the twelfth most-populous state, had 8,096,604 people in 2011, according to the latest Census Bureau estimate. That would make Virginia’s population about 657,331 less than the number of workers who took federal disability insurance payments in July.
Congress enacted legislation in 1956 to add federal disability insurance to the Social Security system. Over the decades, the number of Americans actually working has dramatically declined relative to the number claiming federal disability insurance payments.

Clueless: Demo Sen. Feinstien says if someone in Aurora theater had been armed a firefight could have broken out...

GOP Sen. Johnson suggested an responsible armed citizen in the Aurora theater might have prevented some deaths. Here is Sen. Feinstein's reply:
"And maybe you could have had a firefight and killed many more people."
Feinstein is afraid a firefight would occur in a theater where a massacre was taking place? Geez...

The exchange takes place at the 06:30 mark.

Good: Inheriting $65 million art work, Bad: Being told it is a felony to sell it, Really Bad: Being told by the IRS you owe $29 million in inheritance taxes anyway

Our government is really stupid. Are all bureaucrats lobotomized as a job requirement?

Via NYT's:
The object under discussion is “Canyon,” a masterwork of 20th-century art created by Robert Rauschenberg that Mrs. Sonnabend’s children inherited when she died in 2007.
Because the work, a sculptural combine, includes a stuffed bald eagle, a bird under federal protection, the heirs would be committing a felony if they ever tried to sell it. So their appraisers have valued the work at zero.
But the Internal Revenue Service takes a different view. It has appraised “Canyon” at $65 million and is demanding that the owners pay $29.2 million in taxes.
