Obama calls Republican budget plan a “stinkburger” or “meanwich”
What a wordsmith...
ANN ARBOR, Mich. - President Obama compared the Republican budget plan to a “stinkburger” or “meanwich” during a speech here Wednesday, using a series of zingers in an attempt to strike a contrast with the GOP on economic issues in an election year.
In a speech to an enthusiastic crowd of 1,400 at the University of Michigan, Obama repeatedly mocked Republican ideas about how to improve the economy, as he touted his own proposal to raise the minimum wage.
Obama, who visited the local Zingerman’s deli before the speech, said that Republican proposals to cut taxes for wealthier Americans and federal investments in education, as well as replace his federal health-care program, would harm the economy.
The GOP has proposed the same ideas so many times, Obama said, “It’s like that movie ‘Groundhog Day,’ except it’s not funny. If they tried to sell this sandwich at Zingerman’s, they’d have to call it the stinkburger or the meanwich.”

Fantasy Land: Ryan-Murray budget deal delays spending cuts until 2022...
If you don't understand these proposed future spending cuts won't ever happen, just consider what the current deal does to the current Sequester cuts. They are being gutted. These proposed cuts would have to survive another 8 budget years and several new budget deals. It all a fantasy and Ryan is an idiot for agreeing to it. No wonder Barack Obama approves.
Via Breitbart:
Via Breitbart:
The budget deal announced Tuesday by Rep. Paul Ryan (R-WI) and Sen. Patty Murray (D-WA) would boost federal spending by around $65 billion over the next two years. This new spending is offset by increasing user fees, boosting pension contributions by federal employees and the military, and other minor changes. Ryan and Murray also say that the deal will reduce the deficit by $23 billion over the next 10 years. This reduction, however, doesn't start until 2022.
According to a 4-page summary document of the deal obtained by Breitbart News, "[t]he budget proposal saves $28 billion over ten years by requiring the President to sequester the same percentage of mandatory budgetary resources in 2022 and 2023 as will be sequestered in 2021 under current law."

GOP Rep. Schweikert to press: "None of you were math majors, were you?”
All of the talk about default on the national debt is hyperbole by Democrats and their lapdog media.
Another reporter asked Schweikert to respond to some doom-saying quotes from Chinese bankers. “I lay this at the steps of the administration and Jack Lew,” said the congressman. “The unconscionable, unacceptable use of language, the word ‘default,’ when the borrowing we need for 2014 is we’re 16 percent short on revenue. To use the word ‘default,’ to scare the markets—are politics really that important to this administration that it ignores basic math?”
Schweikert ticked off ways that he, as a county treasurer, had sought balance. “The basic repo desk, running your ladders on your debt—it’s stunning that the politicians in the administration care more about keeping this as a wedge than the international markets. Even Geithner made it clear that he had the ability to prioritize…. [T]here is no such thing as default unless there is an actual evil attempt from the administration. When you have 18 percent of GDP coming in in cash, less than 2 percent going out in debt coverage—I’m stunned you all fall for it in the press. None of you were math majors, were you?”

It has began: Obama's proposed budget limits retirement accounts...
You may think this number is so high ($3,000,000) that is won't ever affect you, but this is the administration that thinks $200,000 make you a rich person.
Via Breitbart:
Via Breitbart:
The budget President Barack Obama will submit on April 10 will contain a proposal that would prohibit individuals from accumulating more than $3 million in Individual Retirement Accounts (IRAs) and tax-preferred retirement accounts.
According to a White House statement, the Obama administration believes the current rules allow some wealthy individuals “to accumulate many millions of dollars in these accounts, substantially more than is needed to fund reasonable levels of retirement saving.”
“The budget would limit an individual’s total balance across tax-preferred accounts to an amount sufficient to finance an annuity of not more than $205,000 per year in retirement, or about $3 million in 2013,” the statement said. “This proposal would raise $9 billion over 10 years.”

Carney Describes Obama’s Upcoming Budget: “It Is Not What He Would Do If He Were King”…
Obama doesn't think he is king?
Scary: Cost of legalizing illegal immigrants could be up to $40 billion in 2022...
Of course, Democrats won't see this as a deterrent because they don't care about deficits...
Via Fox News:
Via Fox News:
Senate Republican staffers estimated Thursday that the annual cost to taxpayers of legalizing illegal immigrants could be in the billions, if they use their status to apply for federal benefits from Medicaid and ObamaCare. The claim, though, was challenged by Florida Sen. Marco Rubio, a key Republican engaged in immigration bill talks.
Republicans on the Senate Budget Committee -- responding to an emerging immigration proposal that includes a path to citizenship for millions of illegal immigrants -- had estimated that the cost could total up to $40 billion in 2022, "just for Medicaid and ObamaCare."
"The net costs would be enormous and only increase once citizenship is granted," the office of Alabama Sen. Jeff Sessions, top Republican on the committee, said in a statement Thursday. The estimates were crunched by budget committee Republican staff.

Flaming Hypocrite Alert: Obama Proclaims April The Month To Teach Young People “How To Budget Responsibly”…
We are still waiting on Obama's past due budget....
(CNSNews.com) – President Barack Obama, who has increased the national debt by $53,377 per household, has proclaimed April “National Financial Capability Month,” during which his administration will do things such as teach young people “how to budget responsibly.”
“I call upon all Americans to observe this month with programs and activities to improve their understanding of financial principles and practices,” Obama said in an official proclamation released Friday.
“My Administration is dedicated to helping people make sound decisions in the marketplace,” he said.
“Together, we can prepare young people to tackle financial challenges–from learning how to budget responsibly to saving for college, starting a business, or opening a retirement account,” he said.
“My Administration continues to encourage responsibility at all levels of our financial system by cracking down on deceptive practices and ensuring that consumers are informed of their rights,” he said.

House Budget Committee Chairman Paul Ryan, R-Wis., has some “downright sickening” plans today, according to the campaign arm of the House Democratic Caucus.
“This is downright sickening,” the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee emails (signed “Democratic Headquarters”) said in an email today. “Today, House Republicans will vote for Paul Ryan’s Medicare-destroying budget. And guess what Ryan’s doing right after? Here’s what: Hosting a lavish fundraiser in the shadow of the Capitol, hobnobbing with those who will benefit the most from his budget — deep-pocketed millionaires and billionaires.”

Amusing: Senate Democrats Budget Takes Credit For Sequester Savings...
Chutzpah!
Via FOX News:
Via FOX News:
But there was a major disconnect in the way each side was calculating its numbers.
Democrats claimed all along their plan would achieve $1.85 trillion in deficit reduction over the next decade, half through spending cuts and half through tax hikes.
But the top Republican on the Senate Budget Committee, Sen. Jeff Sessions of Alabama, argues the plan is taking credit for the reduced spending level already achieved when mandatory, across-the-board cuts known as sequester took effect March 1.
The Democrats' plan would replace the sequester and build on that savings for a total of $975 billion in alternative cuts and $975 billion in tax hikes over 10 years. But, as Democratic staffers acknowledged during committee testimony last week, their plan also counts the replacement cuts toward their total deficit-reduction figure.
"I believe you're using the money twice," Sessions said, arguing that the true savings is more like $700 billion.

Obvious: First Senate Democrat Budget in Four Years Increases Spending 62% Over 10 Years...
The is more than the expected pace of inflation. At least Senate Democrats have quit hiding under their desks and are playing now.
Via TWS:
Via TWS:
Senator Patty Murray, the Democratic chair of the Senate Budget Committee, finally released a budget today. Year over year, in this proposed budget, spending jumps dramatically.
For instance, from this year’s budget to next year’s proposed budget, spending would increase by $162 billion. This year, the federal government will spend $3.599 trillion; under Murray’s budget, the federal government would be on track to spend even more.
“Murray’s budget spends $2.2 trillion more in 2023 (the last year of the budget window) than the 2013 levels – a 62% increase (significantly outpacing inflation),” says a staff member on the Republican side of the Senate Budget Committee.

And it still doesn't balance the budget...
Via The Hill:
Via The Hill:
The first budget from Senate Democrats in four years includes nearly $1 trillion in new taxes but would not balance the budget. This is the best Senate democrats can do after four long years?
The blueprint unveiled by Senate Budget Committee Chairwoman Patty Murray (D-Wash.) on Tuesday to her Democratic colleagues would also turn off the next nine years of the sequester and replace those spending cuts with a 50-50 mix of tax increases and spending cuts.
The budget would dedicate $100 billion to economic stimulus in the form of infrastructure spending and job training.

Petition to keep NASA budget above 1% of budget total
For a President who claims he is in the side of science, Obama sure isn't funding anything that isn't a green scam. During the height of the space race, NASA's budget was above 4%. Now, we have to have a petition to keep it above 1% of budget total. In 2013, the percentage drops to a half a percent. Meanwhile, we have to hitchhike into space with the Russians.
Via The White House:
Via The White House:
In 1961, at the height of the space race, the NASA budget was 4.41% of federal outlays (Guardian: http://tinyurl.com/cxhopj6). In 2005, despite the federal government spending only ~$15 billion on NASA, $180 billion of economic activity was created by this outlay (Space Foundation report: http://tinyurl.com/bq8bqxl).
The 2013 budget expects ~$19 billion of funding for NASA (Guardian link above), or half of a percent of spending; truly this is a pittance, but one that yields vast economic and scientific rewards.
NASA advances our nation when well-funded; by guaranteeing that no less than 1% of federal spending will be on NASA, we promote job creation, encourage creativity in the economy, and gain insight on our universe.
1% is a small financial guarantee of progress in the final frontier!

Liberal Heartache: California's budget surplus starting to look like an anomaly...
The January $5 billion revenue bump is likely due to tax law changes and will not repeat...
Via Hot Air:
Via Hot Air:
The only issue being that, on second thought, that surplus might not be as wonderful as they originally supposed; Gov. Jerry Brown’s budget office has a new report out cautioning that the $5 billion revenue bump in January might just be the result of an accounting anomaly and not any systemic budgeting victory. The LA Times reports:
The revenue bump was historic. But the question for budget experts was whether lawmakers could begin allocating the windfall toward government programs and tax breaks — or whether the money amounted to an accounting anomaly.I.e., in light of the still higher taxes on the wealthy for which the state voted in November, certain taxpayers were paying off portions of their bills early in order to get some of their income off of the books before the start of the new year — meaning that January’s surge will be offset by an April dip.
Brown’s budget office now advises in an official cash report that it is probably the latter. …
The report says the extra money was “likely the result of major tax law changes at the federal and state level having a significant impact in the timing of revenue receipts.”

Shameful: Senate Democrats backpedaling on promise to pass the first budget in four years...
Why am I not surprised? They are holding a budget hostage for more tax increases...
Via Washington Examiner:
Via Washington Examiner:
Sen. Jack Reed, D-R.I., indicated that Senate Democrats would renege on their promise to pass the first budget in four years if Republicans did not agree to raise taxes in order to avert the automatic spending cuts mandated by sequestration.
“Senator Murray is working on a budget right now and we hope we can get that done,” Reed said on CNN, referring to Senate Budget Committee chairman Patty Murray, D-Wash. “But we need time. So the sequestration will prevent — preempt us from getting a budget done and other factors.”
