Trump wins one in court against the CFPB swamp

Finally...

Via The Hill:
A federal judge on Tuesday rejected a lawsuit from an official who claims that she, and not President Trump appointee Mick Mulvaney, is the rightful director of the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau (CFPB).
Judge Timothy Berry of the U.S. District Court of the District of Columbia declined to grant Leandra English a restraining order to bar Mulvaney from serving as the CFPB’s acting director.
The ruling clears the way for Mulvaney to run the CFPB until a permanent director is sworn in or English successfully appeals the decision.
Trump last week appointed Mulvaney to temporarily lead the CFPB until the lawmakers confirm his pick to replace Richard Cordray, who resigned as the agency’s director on Friday.

Gloria Allred repeatedly refuses to say if yearbook signature is a forgery...

This is from a Wolf Blitzer interview.

Big League Politics transcript:
“Well, all I’m saying is, we will permit an independent examiner of the writing…We will allow all of this to be asked and answered at the hearing,” Allred said.
“But that’s not a flat denial, Gloria,” Blitzer said.
“Well, all I’m saying is, we’re not denying, we’re not admitting, we’re not addressing,” Allred said. “We will not be distracted.”
Blitzer asked why Allred needed a Senate hearing and would not just permit an independent handwriting expert to take a look.
“Well, uh, all I can say is we want it done in a professional setting to the extent possible, that’s the only setting in which people can testify under oath,” Allred said.
Allred also would not say if her client would take a lie detector test. This is smelling worse all the time.

Guess what the Democrats took off their website today...

It seems like the Democrats are now going to be OK with a felon serving in the Senate...if he is one of theirs.

Via Lifezette:
A statement from former Senate Democratic leader Harry Reid insisting that “a convicted felon is not going to be able to serve in the United States Senate” has suddenly disappeared from the website of the Senate Democrats as jurors deliberate in the federal corruption trial of Sen. Bob Menendez (D-N.J.).
On Nov. 1, 2008, Reid issued the statement after Sen. Ted Stevens (R-Alaska) was convicted on corruption charges. The verdict came down just before his 2008 re-election bid — which he narrowly lost. Pointing to Stevens’ conviction, Reid wrote that “the reality is that a convicted felon is not going to be able to serve in the United States Senate.”

So, James Comey originally thought Hillary Clinton was 'grossly negligent' with classified material...

James Comey changed his original draft to read “extremely careless.” This smells like a political decision. "Grossly negligent" would have required an indictment. The FBI has lost all credibility.

Newly reported memos to Congress released Monday showed that language was softened between an early draft and the final copy of former FBI Director James Comey’s statement closing out the Hillary Clinton email case.
Originally Comey accused the former secretary of state of being “grossly negligent” in handling classified information in a draft dated May 2, 2016, but that was modified to claim that Clinton had been “extremely careless” in a draft dated June 10, 2016.
Comey stuck to that modified language when he announced in July 2016 that there would be no charges against Clinton.

Here's why we need a wall, not "massive security" on the border...

A wall of drones, virtual sensors or border agents could be cancelled on day 1 of a new Democratic Presidency. Also, it would require new funding every year. If we can always have a Republican President who values border security and a GOP controlled Congress, maybe it would be OK. Can you guarantee that? A significant physical wall would require funding from Congress to tear down. Even a minority GOP could likely obstruct that. Albeit, if democrats held power for a long time, they could degrade a wall by letting it fall into disrepair.

One other problem with not having a physical barrier is it allows illegal immigrants to step onto US soil before they are apprehended. Then, they can claim refugee status (say they fear for their safety in home country) and we have to give them a hearing before an immigration judge. If Democrats were in charge, this would be mostly liberal judges. Obama found a way to go around even this minor inconvenience to illegal immigrants. Instead of taking them into custody until the hearing, he had the Border Patrol issue the illegal immigrants summons and then turn the loose into the US. Of course, up to 90% failed to show up for their immigration hearing.

Nothing but a significant physical structure will work long-term. Democrats and the GOPe know this. That's why they oppose it.

Welfare recipients are going back to work...

Best news of the day!
The Trump administration moved Wednesday to reimpose work requirements for Americans on welfare, revoking an Obama-era policy that had urged states to apply for waivers exempting the poor from having to show they were either getting job training or looking for work.
Requiring work was a key part of the 1996 welfare reform law enacted by a GOP-led Congress and signed by then-President Clinton, and Mr. Trump’s move restores the law as written.

Obama's UN Ambassador Samantha Power had the power to unmask names in NSA intercepts?

Why? So she could make better UN speeches? Did the White House janitor also have unmasking power?

Via WSJ:
The committee has subpoenaed the National Security Agency, the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the Central Intelligence Agency for information about what is called “unmasking.” Republicans on the committee have been pushing for a thorough investigation of how the names of Trump campaign officials became exposed in classified intelligence reports based off intelligence community intercepts.
Those subpoenas seek information on requests made by former national security adviser Susan Rice, former CIA Director John Brennan and former United Nations Ambassador Samantha Power for names to be unmasked in classified material. The three didn’t personally receive subpoenas, the people familiar with the matter said. Mr. Brennan, Ms. Rice and Ms. Power didn’t immediately respond to requests for comment.

Trump Administration About To Throw Michelle Obama School Lunch Rules In The Crapper

There will be rejoicing in schools across America.

Via The Hill:
Newly minted Agriculture Secretary Sonny Perdue is expected to unveil a new rule Monday aimed at giving schools more flexibility in meeting federal nutrition standards for school lunches.
The U.S. Department of Agriculture (USDA) announced Friday that Perdue and Sen. Pat Roberts (R-Kan.) will make the announcement at the Catoctin Elementary School in Leesburg, Va., where they are expected to eat lunch with the students.
Republicans have long been trying to dial back the standards that became a pillar of former first lady Michelle Obama’s initiative to curb childhood obesity in the U.S.
Roberts introduced legislation with Sen. Debbie Stabenow (D-Mich.) last year to give schools two more years to meet new reductions on sodium, but the bill never passed.
Renewed efforts to ease the federal standards came as disappointing news to some advocates.

Flying United's "Not So Friendly Skies"

United needed to bump 4 people who had already boarded off their overbooked flight so four of their employees could fly. No one accepted their crappy vouchers. So, they selected four random "volunteers." One man wasn't willing to give up his seat. So, United brought security on board and beat the shit out of him. This is what flying has come to in America. You get fondled by TSA and flight crews have more power over you than prison guards would if you were an incarcerated felon. I have given up flying for pleasure trips. I drive or stay home. If I have a flight I have to take, United will be my last choice. It's time for the sheeple to stand up.

RINOcare should not be passed and here is why....

I am not angry with Ryan or Trump or any Republican, but I can't support this bill. It fails to bend the cost curve down in any significant way and when it fails democrats, the media (I repeat myself) and voters will blame Republicans. The problem is twofold. Insurance is meant to cover catastrophic costs, not be pre-payment for routine costs. This means we need catastrophic plans and medical savings accounts that could be subsidized by tax deductions or some credits. If people can save enough in their accounts, they should be allowed to withdraw the extra for anything the want. This would cause people to try to hold down costs.

The second problem is pre-existing conditions. They can't be covered under any sane plan. You can't let someone buy car insurance after they wreck their car and get it fixed. It used to be most company plans covered pre-existing conditions as long as the new member had previous coverage. This should be the standard. If someone doesn't have insurance now, they are breaking the law. Why should we reward lawbreakers by allowing them to buy insurance at a small markup when they have a serious problem.

Also, insurance companies should be allowed to sell across state lines and Americans should be allowed to buy cheaper drugs from Canada, Mexico or other countries after some quality verification tests. We should get rid of mandated coverage for certain things in insurance policies and let insurance companies and the free market decide the plans. Medicaid should be rolled back to where it was before Obamacare. It was meant to be a safety net, not substitute insurance for able-bodied adults. Drug regulations need to be reduced to speed new drugs to the market and lower costs. If revenue is needed, we should tax what we want less of, such as policies that pay routine medical costs (like Obamacare policies) and don't promote cost savings, ER visits, high priced drugs that don't save lives, MRI's and Cat scans, ect...

It would be better to let Obamacare burn than to pass the current RINOcare bill the House is considering. Obamacare is crashing and burning and democrats own it. Rates are skyrocketing and choices are becoming slim and none in many areas of the country. In two years voters will really revolt and Republicans will be able to pass a much better bill. Some Democrats might even support it.

The people trying to interfere with the 2016 U.S. election have been unmasked and they aren't Russian...

President Trump is now tweeting that Obama wiretapped Trump Tower right before the election.

This story is now breaking, but it appears that the Obama administration asked the secret FISA court for approval to wiretap Trump Tower back in the spring or early summer, but they were denied. They went back in October and the court gave them approval. If anything really significant had been found, you can bet there would have been a leak right before the election that would have driven a stake through the heart of the Trump campaign. Since there was no leak, we can guess nothing illegal was found. We can add the NSA to the alphabet agencies former President Obama weaponized against his political enemies. Of course, just because nothing illegal was found that doesn't mean nothing politically useful was found, but the question would be how to use it. Obama signed a last minute EO allowing the NSA to share more information with other intelligence agencies such as the FBI.
WASHINGTON — In its final days, the Obama administration has expanded the power of the National Security Agency to share globally intercepted personal communications with the government’s 16 other intelligence agencies before applying privacy protections.
The new rules significantly relax longstanding limits on what the N.S.A. may do with the information gathered by its most powerful surveillance operations, which are largely unregulated by American wiretapping laws. These include collecting satellite transmissions, phone calls and emails that cross network switches abroad, and messages between people abroad that cross domestic network switches.
The change means that far more officials will be searching through raw data. Essentially, the government is reducing the risk that the N.S.A. will fail to recognize that a piece of information would be valuable to another agency, but increasing the risk that officials will see private information about innocent people.
What kind of data was made available?
By contrast, the 12333 sharing procedures allow analysts, including those at the F.B.I., to search the raw data using an American’s identifying information only for the purpose of foreign intelligence or counterintelligence investigations, not for ordinary criminal cases. And they may do so only if one of several other conditions are met, such as a finding that the American is an agent of a foreign power.
However, under the rules, if analysts stumble across evidence that an American has committed any crime, they will send it to the Justice Department.
The limits on using Americans’ information gathered under Order 12333 do not apply to metadata: logs showing who contacted whom, but not what they said. Analysts at the intelligence agencies may study social links between people, in search of hidden associates of known suspects, “without regard to the location or nationality of the communicants.
Did Obama gave his plants in several federal agencies access to metadata of who called who from Trump Tower? If so, this would explains the recent leaks most which have been initially published by the Washington Post.
U.S. intelligence reports during the 2016 presidential campaign showed that Kislyak was in touch with Flynn, officials said. Communications between the two continued after Trump’s victory on Nov. 8, according to officials with access to intelligence reports on the matter.
Trump is right. This is brings back memories of Watergate.

An open letter to former KY Governor Steve Beshear after his SOTU response

Mr. Beshear, as a Kentuckian, I watched your speech in expectation you would represent KY with dignity, even if I disagreed with your opinion. I am part of the two-thirds of Kentuckians who abandoned you and your party and supported President Donald Trump. I thought you got off to a good bipartisan start by declaring yourself as a "proud Republican." Unfortunately, the prepared remarks show you merely misspoke. Your speech went downhill from there. You tout the fact 500,000 in Kentucky got health insurance under the ACA. I guess that is true if you consider Medicaid to be health insurance. It's actually medical welfare. Most of that 500k got on Medicaid. Only about 75,000 got insurance through the exchanges and most of them are being subsidized heavily on the backs of taxpayers. One in three Kentuckians now get medical welfare. That is hardly a record to be proud of.

After President Trump gave a very presidential speech, where he attacked no one, and reached out to Democrats, you launched partisan attacks on the man two-thirds of Kentuckians support.  Democrats in congress set on their hands for most of President Trump's speech. Many refused to applaud even when Mr. Trump was advocating things they support. This made them look small in comparison to our President. Your partisan attacks made you look small to. I expected better from you.

The following statement was truly disappointing.
And as a Democrat, I believe that if you work hard, you deserve the opportunity to realize the American dream, regardless of whether you are a coal miner in Kentucky, a teacher in Rhode Island, an autoworker in Detroit, or a software engineer in San Antonio.

Under your administration and Democrats control of Washington, the "American dream" of many coal mining families were utterly and completely destroyed. Although you have spoken out in support of coal mining in the past, your actions to support President Obama and the Democratic Party's 2016 nominee Hillary Clinton prove the dreams of coal mining families are nowhere near the top of your list of important things. You should be shamed to even mention them. Former President Obama promised to destroy the coal industry and he nearly succeeded. Several major coal companies went bankrupt under his and your leadership and over 83,000 coal jobs were lost. That's not a dream, Mr. Beshear. That's a nightmare.

Sincerely,

The Bluegrass Pundit

Sen. John McCain's claim he has nothing to do with the McCain Institute doesn't pass smell test

The Saudi's gave $1 million to the McCain Institute and you know how mush John McCain loves the Saudis.
McCain is facing questions about his ties to an eponymous nonprofit, after Bloomberg reported the Saudi government had donated $1 million to the nonprofit’s fundraising arm...
The McCain Institute for International Leadership was created in December 2012, with an $8.7 million donation in unused funds from McCain’s 2008 presidential campaign...
McCain regularly attends events and fundraisers hosted by the McCain Institute. His wife, Cindy McCain, is on the institute’s Human Trafficking Advisory Council, working with the nonprofit to raise awareness for her main policy issue. Many of McCain’s longtime political allies sit on the nonprofit’s board of directors. Tax records show a longtime McCain fundraiser, Carly Eudy, maintains the McCain Institute Foundation’s financial records.
In the video embedded below, McCain again claims he has nothing to do with the McCain Institute and they only use his name.

McCain's claim is about as credible as Hillary's Clinton Foundation claims.

AP) — Transgender students on Wednesday lost federal protections that allowed them to use school bathrooms and locker rooms matching their gender identities, as the Trump administration stepped into a long-simmering national debate. The administration came down on the side of states’ rights, lifting Obama-era federal guidelines that had been characterized by Republicans as an example of overreach.Without the Obama directive, it will be up to states and school districts to interpret federal anti-discrimination law and determine whether students should have access to restrooms in accordance with their expressed gender identity and not just their biological sex.“This is an issue best solved at the state and local level,” Education Secretary Betsy DeVos said. “Schools, communities and families can find – and in many cases have found – solutions that protect all students.”

Sen. Rand Paul defends President Trump against John McCain attack...

Kentucky has one good senator. His name is Rand Paul. Paul also has a decent plan to repeal and replace Obamacare by mostly letting the free market work.

Via The Washington Examiner:
Sen. Rand Paul, R-Ky., on Sunday warned against taking seriously comments his Senate colleague John McCain of Arizona made on Saturday, in which the Arizona lawmaker compared President Trump's actions toward the press to "how dictators get started."
"The thing is, I don't agree with his analysis and applying that to the president," Paul told Jon Karl, guest host of ABC's "This Week." "Everything that [McCain] says about the president is colored by his own personal dispute he's got running with President Trump and it should be taken with a grain of salt, because John McCain's the guy that's advocated for war everywhere. He would bankrupt the nation."

Is Trump getting ready to fill Guantanamo back up?

Giddy up...

Via Daily Caller:
The White House is finishing an executive order that would instruct the Pentagon to send Islamic State detainees to Guantanamo Bay.
The Obama administration notably refused to send ISIS fighters captured in the fight to the detention facility, but for President Donald Trump, it’s imperative to take high-level radical Islamic terrorists out of the fight, The New York Times reports.
For some, the order could function as a de facto tripwire because it could allow federal judges to rule on whether the war against ISIS is actually legal, since Congress has declined to offer any explicit authorization. Instead, the Obama administration has relied on war authorization granted in 2001, saying that the fight against ISIS is just a continuation of the fight against al-Qaida and the Taliban.

Unbelievable! Democrats think Muslims are mistreated here more than Christians in Muslim countries...

Democrats fall into two groups, the misinformed and the deranged. There is significant overlap between the groups.

 Rasmussen:
Most voters agree that Christians living in Muslim-majority countries are mistreated for their religion. But Democrats are more likely to think Muslims are mistreated in America than to think Christians are persecuted in the Islamic world...

Fifty-six percent (56%) of Democrats, however, believe most Muslims in this country are mistreated, a view shared by only 22% of Republicans and 39% of voters not affiliated with either major party. Fewer Democrats (47%) think most Christians are mistreated in the Islamic world, compared to 76% of GOP voters and 64% of unaffiliateds.

When you sow disorder on the level the media, Democrats and Hollywood have, you reap civil war.

Via NY Daily News:
A Missouri sixth-grader wearing the iconic red baseball cap made famous during President Trump’s campaign became the center of a school bus scuffle after students ganged up on him for his choice of headgear.
In cellphone video of the incident obtained by News 4, students en route to their Parkway school can be heard arguing with the 12-year-old over his “Make America Great Again” hat and some of Trump’s proposed plans.
“You want to build a wall?” one student yells in the clip. “You want to build a f–king wall?”
Things quickly escalated from there, the unnamed 12-year-old said.
At one point, he just got so frustrated he pushed me,” the sixth-grader told the news station. “And then he kept hitting me and backing me up by the window of the bus, and so I just had to push him out.”
A spokesperson for the Parkway School District said the altercation was investigated and that all students involved have faced “consequences.”

2nd Amendment Heroes: House Republicans move to scrap background checks for disabled Social Security recipients

The Republican-controlled House on Thursday took its first steps toward strengthening gun ownership under President Donald Trump, moving to scrap a requirement for background checks for disabled Social Security recipients mentally incapable of managing their own affairs.
The regulation, issued in the final months of President Barack Obama's term, is one of a handful congressional Republicans are rolling back, knowing they have a new ally in the White House. Video: Full Donald Trump Speech at the Lincoln Memorial Concert - Inauguration Eve

Poll: Up to 28% of federal workers may leave because of President Trump (Oh, goody)

This would go a long way toward Making America Great Again.
According to a new poll conducted by GovExec.com and the independent Government Business Council, 28 percent of federal workers say they are or at least might be "considering leaving the federal service" because of Donald Trump's election. This is actually up from 25 percent who said the same in February when asked about the possibility that Trump might be elected.
Fourteen percent said that yes, they are considering it, and the same share said "maybe" they are. Of this combined 28 percent, just over half said they are "eligible for retirement and [might] retire earlier than planned," meaning they might be serious about this.
