2nd Amendment Heroes: House Republicans move to scrap background checks for disabled Social Security recipients

Hopefully, this is only the beginning of strengthening our 2nd Amendment rights.

Heroes:
The Republican-controlled House on Thursday took its first steps toward strengthening gun ownership under President Donald Trump, moving to scrap a requirement for background checks for disabled Social Security recipients mentally incapable of managing their own affairs.
The regulation, issued in the final months of President Barack Obama's term, is one of a handful congressional Republicans are rolling back, knowing they have a new ally in the White House. The Senate is poised to scuttle an Obama rule preventing coal mining debris from being dumped into nearby streams.
"In my home state of Kentucky and others across the nation, the Stream Buffer Rule will cause major damage to communities and threaten coal jobs," said Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky.

Jeb Bush: 10th Amendment trumps the 2nd Amendment...

Jeb must be on drugs. Donald Trump has a saner position on the 2nd Amendment.
Stephen Colbert: Well, the right to have an individual firearm to protect yourself is a national document, in the Constitution, so shouldn’t that also be applied national…
Jeb Bush: No. Not necessarily…There’s a 10th amendment to our country, the Bill of Rights has a 10th amendment that says powers are given to the states to create policy, and the federal government is not the end all and be all. That’s an important value for this country, and it’s an important federalist system that works quite well.

Liberal education update...

An Illinois middle-school handout has revised the Second Amendment.
“This amendment states that people have the right to certain weapons, providing that they register them and they have not been in prison”

Here is what the Second Amendment actually says.
“A well regulated Militia, being necessary to the security of a free State, the right of the people to keep and bear Arms, shall not be infringed.”
I wonder what other BS they are teaching kids in Illinois.

Flashback Video: Armed Woman prevents Colorado Church massacre...

The gunman planned a massacre. It didn't work out because of one armed woman.
A couple of clips from the press conference after the shooting at The New Life Church in Colorado Springs. Jeanne Assam was the parishioner that took the assailant down.

In this clip the pastor describes the church's security and Assam describes what happened before she shot and killed the gunman.

Saturday Video: 71-year-old shoots would-be robbers at internet cafe

The best anti-crime tool is a well armed citizenry.

71-year-old shoots would-be robbers at internet cafe

Via YouTube:
Two hooded men, their faces covered, went into a Florida Internet cafe Friday, hefting a baseball bat and toting a handgun. What they couldn't have expected to encounter was Samuel Williams, a fleet-of-foot senior citizen with a gun.

The two suspects, identified by authorities as DuWayne Henderson and Davis Dawkins, went spinning and running after Williams, 71, dropped to one knee and aimed his .380.

Video of the incident at the Palms Internet Cafe in Ocala, Fla., shows two suspects directing patrons, who have their hands raised. Williams, a grandfatherly looking man in billed cap and shorts, stands, then bends briefly to one knee and begins shooting.

The suspects scramble to exit, falling over one another as Williams continues his pursuit....

Supreme Court Justice Breyer: The 2nd Amendment Was Just Meant To Appease The States

Supreme Court Justice Breyer has a very strange view of the Constitution. He thinks Founding Father James Madison just put in the 2nd Amendment to appease the states and get the Constitution signed. Therefore, the didn't really mean it and we can now impose regulations on guns. This story tells us a lot more about the twisted logic of liberals than it does the Constitution.

FOX News reported:
Breyer wrote the dissent and was joined by Justices John Paul Stevens, David H. Souter and Ruth Bader Ginsburg. He said historians would side with him in the case because they have concluded that Founding Father James Madison was more worried that the Constitution may not be ratified than he was about granting individuals the right to bear arms.

Madison “was worried about opponents who would think Congress would call up state militias and nationalize them. ‘That can’t happen,’ said Madison,” said Breyer, adding that historians characterize Madison’s priority as, “I’ve got to get this document ratified.”

Therefore, Madison included the Second Amendment to appease the states, Breyer said...

That being the case, and particularly since the Founding Fathers did not foresee how modern day would change individual behavior, government bodies can impose regulations on guns, Breyer concluded.
The last conclusion by Bryer is very telling. Liberals love to use the argument "the Founding Fathers did not foresee" how the US would change. Therefore, they can decide what they think is best. In the case of gun control, that is clearly not the case. Guns and people haven't changed that much since the Constitution was ratified.

SCOTUS Invalidates Chicago's Handgun Ban

There is good news for Second Amendment fans. The Supreme Court has made a second major ruling affirming the right of individuals to bear arms. This ruling invalidates the Chicago handgun ban.

Fox News reported:
In its second major ruling on gun rights in three years, the Supreme Court Monday extended the federally protected right to keep and bear arms to all 50 states. The decision will be hailed by gun rights advocates and comes over the opposition of gun control groups, the city of Chicago and four justices.

Justice Samuel Alito wrote for the five justice majority saying "the right to keep and bear arms must be regarded as a substantive guarantee, not a prohibition that could be ignored so long as the States legislated in an evenhanded manner."

The ruling builds upon the Court's 2008 decision in D.C. v. Heller that invalidated the handgun ban in the nation's capital. More importantly, that decision held that the Second Amendment right to keep and bear arms was a right the Founders specifically delegated to individuals. The justices affirmed that decision and extended its reach to the 50 states. Today's ruling also invalidates Chicago's handgun ban.

2nd Amendment Victory: Arizona to Allow Concealed Weapon Carry Without Permit

In a victory for 2nd amendment rights, Arizona will join Alaska and Vermont in allowing citizens over 21 to carry a concealed weapon without a permit.

AP reported:
PHOENIX – Favoring the constitutional right to bear arms over others' concerns about gun safety, Gov. Jan Brewer on Friday signed into law a bill making Arizona the third state allowing people to carry a concealed weapon without requiring a permit.

The measure takes effect 90 days after the current legislative session ends...

"I believe this legislation not only protects the Second Amendment rights of Arizona citizens, but restores those rights as well," Brewer...

Gun ownership rights are under 'stealth' attack. Hide your guns.

Gun ownership rights are under 'stealth' attack. While Congress and the public have been obsessed with the 'Spendulus Bill', three things have occurred that should make every gun owner fearful. The items are H.R. 45 introduction, confirmation of Eric Holder as Attorney General and the government medical records data base that is mandated in the stimulus bill. Let me explain.

First, H.R. 45 was filed in the House of Representatives by Rep Rush, Bobby L.[IL] on January 6, 2009. This bill will impose severe restrictions for licensing on gun ownership. This anti gun bill requires that all new guns be licensed. The bill goes retroactive after two years. What this means is that two years after the passage of this bill, all firearms in your possession must be registered. This will not just apply to new gun purchases.

Second, Eric holder was confirmed as Attorney General. Eric Holder has a very anti gun record. He supported the District of Columbia’s handgun ban and has argued the second amendment to the Constitution does not protect an individual's right to firearm ownership. Also, Eric Holder has supported national handgun licensing and mandatory trigger locks.

Third, sections 13101 through 13434 of HR 1 will set up the infrastructure to computerize the medical records of all Americans in a government-coordinated database. This database will contain all records of medical and psychiatric treatment. This will include what drugs you have been prescribed. Why is this worrisome? Under the NICS Improvement Act, 150,000 veterans have already been unfairly stripped of their gun rights by the government. These rights were removed without a court hearing. Now, we will all be susceptible to this tactic.
