Conservatives are Now the Largest Ideological Group

Conservatives have passed liberals and moderates and are now the largest ideological group according to the latest Gallop poll.
PRINCETON, NJ -- Thus far in 2009, 40% of Americans interviewed in national Gallup Poll surveys describe their political views as conservative, 35% as moderate, and 21% as liberal. This represents a slight increase for conservatism in the U.S. since 2008, returning it to a level last seen in 2004. The 21% calling themselves liberal is in line with findings throughout this decade, but is up from the 1990s.

Teacher Claims He Was Fired For Not Airing President Obama's Inaugural Address

If you are a conservative and a teacher, you need to watch your back in Lawrence, Kansas. Tim Latham claims he was fired for not airing President Obama's inaugural address and having conservative views. School administrators have 'no comment'. Fox News reported:
Tim Latham, who has spent the last 19 years teaching students American history and government, spent the past school year at a high school in Lawrence, Kan. — and it appears his first year at the school will be his last.

Latham claims it has nothing to do with his abilities as a teacher and everything to do with his conservative politics.

Latham — who was criticized for not airing President Obama's inaugural address during an American history class — says he first realized during a meeting last September with Assistant Principal Jan Gentry that his personal political views weren't making the grade with the rest of the faculty at the 2,000-student Lawrence High School.

The 44-year-old teacher filed a grievance earlier this month with his district after his contract was not renewed in April. He argues the district didn't follow the proper process.

"It's gross misconduct," he said. "[The district] jumped straight to non-renewal."

Several calls placed to Gentry, Principal Steve Nilhas and District Superintendent Randy Weseman were not returned. Kansas National Education Association Director Bruce Lindskog could not be reached for comment.

The author of Reagan's tax cuts, Jack Kemp, has passed away

The author of Reagan's tax cuts, Jack Kemp, passed away after a long battle with cancer. He will be missed. Fox News reported:
WASHINGTON — Jack Kemp, the ex-quarterback, congressman, one-time vice-presidential nominee and self-described "bleeding-heart conservative," died Saturday. He was 73.

Kemp died after a lengthy illness, according to spokeswoman Bona Park and Edwin J. Feulner, a longtime friend and former campaign adviser. Park said Kemp died at his home in Bethesda, Md., in the Washington suburbs.

Kemp's office announced in January that he had been diagnosed with an unspecificed type of cancer. By then, however, the cancer was in an advanced stage and had spread to several organs, Feulner said. He did not know the origin of the cancer.

Senate Republican leader Mitch McConnell, R-Ky., called Kemp "one of the nation's most distinguished public servants. Jack was a powerful voice in American politics for more than four decades."

Will Twitter make you immoral?

A study publicized today claims that heavy use of sites such as Twitter and Facebook can blunt your sense of morality. Obviously, the study was conducted of progressives who twitter. There is not any danger of losing your morality if you hang out with the Top Conservatives on twitter group(#TCOT.) You can follow the Bluegrass Pundit on twitter here. Here is the story from dailymail.co.uk

Social networks such as Twitter may blunt people's sense of morality, claim brain scientists.

New evidence shows the digital torrent of information from networking sites could have long-term damaging effects on the emotional development of young people's brains.

A study suggests rapid-fire news updates and instant social interaction are too fast for the 'moral compass' of the brain to process.

The danger is that heavy Twitters and Facebook users could become 'indifferent to human suffering' because they never get time to reflect and fully experience emotions about other people's feelings.

US scientists from the Brain and Creativity Institute at the University of Southern California (USC) say the brain can respond in fractions of seconds to signs of physical pain in others.

But they show it takes longer to activate processing of social emotions such as admiration and compassion, which are critical for developing a sense of morality.

Maher and Olbermann accuse conservative talk radio of "whipping up" fringe elements of society

Maher and Olbermann accused conservative talk radio of "whipping up" fringe elements of society Friday.
Maher: Listening to people like Rush Limbaugh and Glenn Beck these days, I cannot figure out whether these right wingers are more dangerous when they're in power or when they're out of power, because when they're out of power, you know their paranoid, their paranoia goes off the charts. This Glenn Beck guy, I wouldn't even give him the time of day except he's a big star now on Fox and a lot of people believe, and he's talking about FEMA concentration camps.

Olbermann: Yeah...

Maher: He says we are headed toward socialism, totalitarianism...

Olbermann: Yeah...

Maher:...beyond your wildest imagination, but apparently not beyond his wildest imagination.

Then, they invoked memories of Tim McVeigh.
Maher: You know I would never be the person who says that you have to watch what you say because some borderline nut...no really...I'm not for that. No, no, that's an argument that's given a lot. You can't say this because a borderline might take it and then do this. I'm sorry but that's the price of living in a free speech country and I do want to live in one because I make my living at it. Okay. But you know I must say Tim McVeigh in 1995 if you recall, this was the same kind of talking that made him blow up that building.

If anyone is "whipping up" the "fringe" elements of Society, it is them. See the video here.

Obama ends stem cell funding ban

In a move sure to stir passion among religious conservatives, Obama lifted the restrictions on stem cell funding by the Federal Government. Ex-President Bush issued a compromise order allowing stem cell research on existing lines, but not if new embryos were to be destroyed. He blocked the use of any government money to fund research on human embryonic stem cell lines created after 9 August 2001. He was criticized by both supporters and opponents for that decision. President Obama has removed the funding roadblock for stem cells extracted from recently destroyed embryos. Many religious conservatives believe human life begins at conception.

Here is the video of Obama's announcement.

America abandons liberal Main Stream Media

America is tuning out the liberal Main Stream Media and turning to Fox News in droves. Fox News is leading prime time and daytime cable news ratings during February for the 86th straight month. Many Fox News shows were up over 30% compared to last February.
February Ratings: FNC Beats CNN and MSNBC Combined in Total Viewers

Fox News was the ratings leader during prime time and total day during February 2009 — its 86th month on top. FNC averaged more Total Viewers than CNN and MSNBC combined in prime time and total day.

FNC had nine out of the top 10 programs in cable news last month in Total Viewers. The O'Reilly Factor was #1 for the 99th consecutive month, and was up 33% in Total Viewers compared to February 2008. The other top programs included Hannity (up 38%), Glenn Beck (the 5pmET hour was up 100%), The FOX Report with Shepard Smith (up 30%) and On the Record with Greta Van Susteren (up 24%).(excerpt) read more at mediabistro.com

The debate on the 'fairness doctrine' is heating up(audio)

American author, teacher, social critic and dissident feminist, Camille Paglia, blasts the democrats for wanting to re-institute the so called 'fairness doctrine'. She called them 'immature' and said they want to violate the 'essence' of free speech and the 'soul' of the Democratic Party. Meanwhile, former President Bill Clinton said we need something like the 'fairness doctrine' to provide 'balance'. Is he serious? We need to provide balance to the Main Stream Media, not political comment.

Here is what Camille Paglia said.

Gun ownership rights are under 'stealth' attack. Hide your guns.

Gun ownership rights are under 'stealth' attack. While Congress and the public have been obsessed with the 'Spendulus Bill', three things have occurred that should make every gun owner fearful. The items are H.R. 45 introduction, confirmation of Eric Holder as Attorney General and the government medical records data base that is mandated in the stimulus bill. Let me explain.

First, H.R. 45 was filed in the House of Representatives by Rep Rush, Bobby L.[IL] on January 6, 2009. This bill will impose severe restrictions for licensing on gun ownership. This anti gun bill requires that all new guns be licensed. The bill goes retroactive after two years. What this means is that two years after the passage of this bill, all firearms in your possession must be registered. This will not just apply to new gun purchases.

Second, Eric holder was confirmed as Attorney General. Eric Holder has a very anti gun record. He supported the District of Columbia’s handgun ban and has argued the second amendment to the Constitution does not protect an individual's right to firearm ownership. Also, Eric Holder has supported national handgun licensing and mandatory trigger locks.

Third, sections 13101 through 13434 of HR 1 will set up the infrastructure to computerize the medical records of all Americans in a government-coordinated database. This database will contain all records of medical and psychiatric treatment. This will include what drugs you have been prescribed. Why is this worrisome? Under the NICS Improvement Act, 150,000 veterans have already been unfairly stripped of their gun rights by the government. These rights were removed without a court hearing. Now, we will all be susceptible to this tactic.

$3 trillion in spending and the Dow tanks 382 points

The Obama administration, Federal Reserve and Senate committed $3 trillion dollars to shore up the economy today. In response, investors sent the Dow Jones average plunging 382 points. This is a strong vote of 'no confidence' in the way Democrats are handling the economic crisis. Investors know this money will mostly be wasted on things that have nothing to do with the economy. I would bet that an announcement by President Obama and Congress of deep cuts in corporate, capitol gains and personal income taxes would send the stock market soaring. Of course, that will not happen. Barack Obama and the Democrats are much more interested in funding their social agenda and paying off their political supporters than they are in stimulating the economy. They figure the economy will rebound on its own by the 2012 election cycle. There is little chance the Republicans can take control of either house of Congress in 2010.

$3 trillion! _ Senate, Fed, Treasury attack crisis

WASHINGTON (AP) - On a single day filled with staggering sums, the Obama administration, Federal Reserve and Senate attacked the deepening economic crisis Tuesday with actions that could throw as much as $3 trillion more in government and private funds into the fight against frozen credit markets and rising joblessness.

"It's gone deep. It's gotten worse," President Barack Obama said of the recession at a campaign-style appearance in Ft. Myers, Fla., where unemployment has reached double digits. "The situation we face could not be more serious."

If any more emphasis were needed, Wall Street investors sent stocks plunging, objecting that new rescue details from the government were too sparse despite the huge numbers. The Dow Jones industrials dropped 382 points. (excerpted) read more at breitbart.com

Fighting back against "Card Check" (EFCA)

The Save Our Secret Ballot organization is trying to amend state's Constitutions to force secret ballot votes for all public elections. Who would have ever thought it would have come to this in America. The secret ballot vote is as American as apple pie. Many people have given their life defending this country and our right to vote in secret as our conscience dictates. Now, unions and Democrats are trying to take that right away from workers during a unionization campaign. They are doing this with an ironically named bill titled "The Employee Free Choice Act". There is nothing about free choice in this bill. This is a power grab by unions and a payback for campaign contributions by the Democratic Party. Under this bill, a company is forced to accept a union if over 50% of their employees sign a card. Currently, unions may petition for an election to the NLRB if 30% of employees sign a card. The outcome is determined by secret ballot voting. Of course, unions won't call for an election until they have 60% or more cards signed. That is because many people who sign a card under peer pressure will vote differently in a secret ballot. Unions lose elections when they have only 50% cards signed. That is why they have bribed Democrats with political support to eliminate secret ballot elections for labor organization. Unions clam that the EFCA still allows employees to have a vote. That is very deceptive if not an outright lie. If only 30% sign a card, the union can still call an election. Of course that will not occur. If over 50% sign a card, there will not be a vote. The union is in and there is little the company or anti union workers can do. Under this law, a union could sponsor a drunken weekend party and organize your workplace before the employees sobered up or the company realized there was an organization campaign.

Sending an SOS to Save Our Secret Ballot

Thanks to the secret ballot process, all of our other key American rights are protected.

Without secret ballots, we would lose:

· Freedom from intimidation
· Freedom of choice
· Freedom of conscience

Save Our Secret Ballots is your ally to guard these rights from scandalous attack by labor union bosses and by the politicians who are beholden to them.

A few years ago, several of Congress' most liberal members wrote Mexico's government, "We understand that the secret ballot is allowed for, but not required, by Mexican labor law. However, we feel that the secret ballot is absolutely necessary in order to ensure that workers are not intimidated into voting for a union they might not otherwise choose."

Those same members of Congress then reversed course when American labor union bosses decided to end similar protections for American workers. Why? Because fewer U.S. employees now join unions, those who profit handsomely from union dues want to pressure them into joining. Secret ballots stand in their way.(excerpted) learn more at sosballot.org

The 'Porkulus' bill is ready for passage

The bloated stimulus bill passed a cloture vote and will get an up or down vote very soon. Republicans need to regroup and try to stop the passage of the bill after the differences in the House and Senate versions are resolved. Update: The 'Spendulus' bill passed the Senate Tuesday. The bill will now go to conference to resolve the differences between the House and Senate versions.
Stimulus bill survives Senate test, moves ahead

WASHINGTON (AP) - An $838 billion economic stimulus bill backed by the White House survived a key test vote in the Senate Monday despite strong Republican opposition, and Democratic leaders vowed to deliver legislation for President Barack Obama's signature within a few days.

Monday's vote was 61-36, one more than the 60 needed to advance the measure toward Senate passage on Tuesday. That in turn, will set the stage for possibly contentious negotiations with the House on a final compromise on legislation the president says is desperately needed to tackle the worst economic crisis in more than a generation. Barack Obama does not trust the Republican he put in charge of Commerce to take the 2010 census

This in not a vote of confidence for Commerce Secretary nominee Sen. Judd Gregg, R-N.H. This appears to be a "cave in" to the democratic Hispanic base. They have had concerns about his nomination. Everyone knows the census data can be manipulated for partisan political reasons. A Republican working for a Democrat would be the perfect nonpartisan person to oversee the 2010 census. Instead, the White House wants to put Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel in charge. When you consider the shoddy way Republicans were treated over the stimulus bill and this partisan power grab, bipartisan cooperation in Washington is about to hit a new low.

In a move with major political implications for voting, districting and representation in future elections, the Obama administration has demanded oversight of the 2010 U.S. census.

The move has Republicans crying foul, alleging that transferring the power of census-taking from the Commerce Department, which normally oversees the U.S. Census Bureau, to the White House is an attempt to manipulate redistricting of congressional seats.

"This action appears to be motivated by politics, rather than the interests of our country," House Minority Leader John A. Boehner, R-Ohio, said in a statement. "The United States Census should remain independent of politics; it should not be directed by political operatives working out of the White House. (excerpted) read more at worldnetdaily.com

Barack Obama calls tax cuts 'tired old theory.' (video)

Here is what he said.
"Let's be clear: We can't expect relief from the tired old theories that, in eight short years, doubled the national debt, threw our economy into a tailspin, and led us into this mess in the first place. We can't rely on a losing formula that offers only tax cuts as the answer to all our problems while ignoring our fundamental economic challenges – the crushing cost of health care or the inadequate state of so many schools; our addiction to foreign oil or our crumbling roads, bridges, and levees," he said. "The American people know that our challenges are great. They don't expect Democratic solutions or Republican solutions – they expect American solutions. Link here.

I guess he thinks tax increases are a revitalized new theory. Of course, his first tax hike was not on the rich. In spite of his campaign promise to not raise taxes on those making less than $250,000 per year, he hikes taxes that mainly affect the poor. He must think only rich people smoke cigarettes. His plan is to tax and spend our way out of this recession. That is hardly a new theory. It is one that future generations will have to pay for. The nonpartisan Congressional Budget Office says his plan won't work in the long run and it will actually damage the economy.
Here is the video of his weekly address.

Democrats claim Porkulus bill is ready for passage

Senate Democrats think they have enough votes to pass the bloated bacon explosion of a stimulus bill. They say they have the votes of at least three or four Republicans. If this is true, please note the names of these RINO's and remove them from office at their next election.

Democrats say Senate will pass stimulus Friday

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Senate Democrats said they had enough votes to pass a scaled-backed $780 billion economic stimulus package and planned a vote on the measure later on Friday.

Senate Finance Committee Chairman Max Baucus said Democrats would win passage of the measure demanded by President Barack Obama with the support of at least three or four Republicans in the 100-member chamber. (excerpted) read more at reuters.com
