A wall of drones, virtual sensors or border agents could be cancelled on
day 1 of a new Democratic Presidency. Also, it would require new
funding every year. If we can always have a Republican President who
values border security and a GOP controlled Congress, maybe it would be
OK. Can you guarantee that? A significant physical wall would require
funding from Congress to tear down. Even a minority GOP could likely
obstruct that. Albeit, if democrats held power for a long time, they
could degrade a wall by letting it fall into disrepair.
One other
problem with not having a physical barrier is it allows illegal
immigrants to step onto US soil before they are apprehended. Then, they
can claim refugee status (say they fear for their safety in home
country) and we have to give them a hearing before an immigration judge.
If Democrats were in charge, this would be mostly liberal judges. Obama
found a way to go around even this minor inconvenience to illegal
immigrants. Instead of taking them into custody until the hearing, he
had the Border Patrol issue the illegal immigrants summons and then turn
the loose into the US. Of course, up to 90% failed to show up for their
immigration hearing.
Nothing but a significant physical structure will
work long-term. Democrats and the GOPe know this. That's why they oppose
it.

Illegals being deported on private luxury jets...
Wow. Now we know why some claim it would cost $400 billion to deport the 12 million illegal aliens in the country.
Via Daily Mail:
Via Daily Mail:
American taxpayers are forking out more than $300,000 every day to deport illegal immigrants on commercial flights and even on private jets, Daily Mail Online can exclusively reveal.
Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) spent $116m in 2015 to transport 235,413 people in the United States illegally back to their home countries.
More than 40 per cent of those who had violated visa restrictions were convicted criminals while more than 1,000 were identified as gang members.
A group campaigning for taxpayers’ rights have said the figures obtained by the Daily Mail Online are ‘insane’ and an ‘outrageous waste of tax dollars’.
The ICE revealed to Daily Mail Online that the average cost of every immigrant in 2015 was $12,213.
The cost includes identifying the immigrant, apprehending them, placing them in a detention center, their process through immigration court and their subsequent removal.

ICE tries to explain why they let illegal immigrant who killed woman go...
Not near good enough...
Via Daily Caller:
Via Daily Caller:
U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) director Sarah Saldana gave a baffling — and seemingly inaccurate — explanation during a Senate hearing on Tuesday for why federal immigration agents failed to detain an illegal alien who killed a 21-year-old Iowa woman in a drunken street race in Omaha in January.
ICE ignored a detainer request made by the Omaha police department last month for 19-year-old Eswin Mejia, Saldana said, because his victim, Sarah Root, had “not passed away” at the time the illegal alien drunk driver bailed out of jail.
That comment appears to be inaccurate since Root died hours after the Jan. 31 crash, in which Mejia was street racing with a .241 blood-alcohol level — three times the legal limit.
Mejia, a Honduran national, left jail on Feb. 5 after posting $5,000 bail. He is now on the run.

Pope is a Dope Alert: Claims Trump is "not Christian" for wanting to build wall on Mexican border...
The man who lives behind a very high wall for security doesn't want us to have one.
ABOARD THE PAPAL PLANE (AP) -- Thrusting himself into the heated American presidential campaign, Pope Francis declared Thursday that Donald Trump is "not Christian" if he wants to address illegal immigration only by building a wall along the U.S.-Mexico border.Trump fired back ferociously, saying it was "disgraceful" for a religious leader to question a person's faith. The rare back-and-forth between pontiff and presidential candidate was the latest astonishing development in an American election already roiled by Trump's free-wheeling rhetoric and controversial policy proposals, particularly on immigration. It also underscored the popular pope's willingness to needle U.S. politicians on hot-button issues.

Actual Good News: 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upholds injunction blocking Obama illegal immigration EO
Obama's illegal immigration EO is illegal. Oh, the irony...
Via Fox News:
Via Fox News:
President Obama’s plan to protect from deportation an estimated 5 million people living in the United States illegally suffered another setback Monday in a ruling from a New Orleans-based federal appeals court.
In a 2-1 ruling, the 5th U.S. Circuit Court of Appeals upheld a Texas-based federal judge’s injunction blocking the administration’s immigration initiative.
Republicans had criticized the plan as an illegal executive overreach when Obama announced it last November. Twenty-six states challenged the plan in court.

Flashback to 2007: Candidate Obama defends sanctuary cities, blames the federal government for not doing it's job
I wonder if Obama feels that way now? Obama has owned the federal government for going on 7 years. For the first two years after he was elected, Democrats owned both houses of Congress, with a super-majority in the Senate. They didn't pass comprehensive immigration reform or secure the border as Obama promised. Their disingenuous approach now seems to be to try and blame the Republicans. If we had a real press, instead of lapdogs, Obama and Democrats would be laughed out of Washington, DC.

That PEW poll showing Republicans support illegal immigration is utter cr*p...
There is a lot of buzz about this PEW poll that found 56% of Republicans favor granting legal status for people in the U.S. illegally. They asked for the youngest adult at homes with a land line. In other words, they wanted to talk to the 20 something slackers still living with their parents. Additionally, 6.6% of respondents were foreign born. The survey is also heavy on cell phone users who tend to be younger.Don't believe it.
Interviews were conducted in English and Spanish. Respondents in the landline sample were selected by randomly asking for the youngest adult male or female who is now at home. Interviews in the cell sample were conducted with the person who answered the phone, if that person was an adult 18 years of age or older. For detailed information about our survey methodology, see http://www.pewresearch.org/methodology/u-s-survey-research/

No change: Jeb Bush and Obama immigration positions are virtually the same
Obama said he would gladly rescind his illegal immigration EO memorandum if Republicans give him the comprehensive reform bill he wants. Jeb has said the same thing. You would have a hard time sliding a piece of paper between their positions.
Via Hot Air:
Via Hot Air:
The headlines I’ve seen this morning about this exchange claim that Bush said he wouldn’t rescind Obama’s executive action “right away,” which is sort of true. What Jeb said is that he’d rescind the amnesty as part of a deal with Congress on immigration. That won’t happen on day one of his presidency, so yeah, technically O’s order would remain intact for at least a few months while President Bush works out the details of the new bill with the House and Senate. But focusing on the timing misses the point of what Jeb’s implying: If Republicans in Congress refuse to go along with his plan for a new comprehensive bill, Bush 45 will presumably … keep Obama’s executive amnesty in place indefinitely. The price of getting it rescinded is to give the president what he wants, at least to some degree, on immigration. That’s the same type of Hobson’s-choice extortion that Obama’s been engaged in for most of his second term. Congress can either pass what the White House demands or the White House will simply pass it for them. Now here’s Jeb suggesting he’ll use O’s actions as leverage against the legislature too. Even worse, when Megyn Kelly raises the possibility that Obama’s amnesty will be struck down in federal court, Jeb says he thinks the legal challenge will succeed. Does that mean he thinks O’s order is illegal? If so, why on earth isn’t he promising to undo it on day one as president, no questions asked, as Ted Cruz and Rand Paul have promised to do?

Above the Law: Obama Administration defies Federal Judge Andrew S. Hanen’s injunction a second time...
Hanson should just go on and rule for the states. Also, the DHS lawyers should do time in jail.
Via Liberty News:
Via Liberty News:
The Obama Administration has defied Federal Judge Andrew S. Hanen’s injunction once again, this time approving an additional 2,000 amnesty applications for work permits.
Thursday, Obama’s lawyers admitted to Judge Hanen just before midnight that the Department of Homeland Security had violated the injunction by approving the applications despite the fact Hanen admonished the administration two months ago for failing to comply with his ruling.

Obama threatens to block all funding for DHS if Republicans try to block his illegal amnesty...
This threatened action by Obama won't happen unless someone gave McConnell and Boehner some balls for Christmas.
Everybody knew that one kid when they were younger who, when they didn’t get their way, would pitch a fit and take their toy or ball and just go home.
President Barack Obama basically just pitched a fit and threatened to take his toy called the Department of Homeland Security away from everybody, if the Republicans in Congress won’t fund his illegal and unconstitutional amnesty plans.
According to the Daily Caller, one of Obama’s top aides said that Obama could essentially block all funding for, and essentially shut down, the DHS, if the GOP tries to do anything legislatively about his executive amnesty.
Dan Pfeiffer said that Obama would block all funding for the entire department, and would veto any spending bill if the Republicans try to impose cuts to spending aimed at stopping or slowing Obama’s plans to allow illegal immigrants into the country.
This is basically a threat to the GOP to force them to back off plans to defund Obama’s amnesty.

Interesting: Bush appointed judge who criticized Obama deportation policy gets amnesty case...
Look for an early legal setback for Obama's illegal immigration amnesty. of course, Obama will just ignore the judge like he does the Constitution and law.
Via Washington Times:
Via Washington Times:
The states challenging President Obama’s deportation amnesty have already won the first round in court after the case landed in the lap of Judge Andrew S. Hanen, a Bush appointee who issued a scorching rebuke to the Department of Homeland Security last year, accusing it of refusing to follow border security laws.
It could hardly have been a worse outcome for Mr. Obama, who, in order to preserve his policy, will now have to convince a judge who is on record calling his previous, less-extensive nondeportation policies “dangerous and unconscionable.”
Led by Texas Attorney General Greg Abbott, the 20 states challenging the new policy filed their case in Brownsville. It could have gone to one of two judges — the other a Clinton appointee — but it landed in the lap of Judge Hanen last week, putting Mr. Obama on the defensive early.

Interesting: AP fact checks Obama (finds he is a liar)
AP is finally coming to grip with reality?
WASHINGTON (AP) — President Barack Obama made some notable omissions Thursday night in his remarks about the unilateral actions he’s taking on immigration.
A look at his statements and how they compare with the facts:
OBAMA: “It does not grant citizenship, or the right to stay here permanently, or offer the same benefits that citizens receive – only Congress can do that. All we’re saying is we’re not going to deport you.”
THE FACTS: He’s saying, and doing, more than that. The changes also will make those covered eligible for work permits, allowing them to be employed in the country legally and compete with citizens and legal residents for better-paying jobs.
___
OBAMA: “Although this summer, there was a brief spike in unaccompanied children being apprehended at our border, the number of such children is now actually lower than it’s been in nearly two years.”
THE FACTS: The numbers certainly surged this year, but it was more than a “brief spike.” The number of unaccompanied children apprehended at the border has been on the rise since the 2011 budget year. That year about 16,000 children were found crossing the border alone. In 2012, the Border Patrol reported more than 24,000 children, followed by more than 38,800 in 2013. In the last budget year, more than 68,361 children were apprehended.

House Republicans surrender to Obama's amnesty proposal, plan to trick their base supporters...
Jonathan Gruber isn't the only one who thinks you are stupid. The House GOP thinks so too...
You people are being played by the GOP. Remember when the GOP wanted to raise the debt ceiling, but claim they would oppose it. They voted to raise it, but then Congress could vote to stop the raise. The President could then veto the stoppage and the debt ceiling would raise. But the GOP could claim they opposed him.
That is happening again. This time it is with amnesty.
The House GOP is going to pass a continuing resolution to fund the government. Then, in January, they will try to defund what they’ve already funded. The President will veto it, but the GOP can say they tried.
They won in a historic wave election against the President with a majority of the public on their side on this issue and they are going to cave.
Already, the House Appropriations Committee has released a statement saying the appropriations process cannot stop the President.
Sheriffs: Obama's amnesty will embolden both terrorists and violent criminals
Change...
Sheriff Chuck Jenkins, Frederick County, Maryland:
“In my opinion, based on what I’ve seen, every county in America will become a border county. This is absolutely going to worsen the crisis.Sheriff Paul Babeu, Pinal County, Arizona:
What we’re going to see is not only the cost to healthcare, social programs, and education, but the increase in criminals coming into our country, you’re going to see increases in crime, infiltration from transnational gangs, the drug trade and human tracking.”
“The law applies to you and I as citizens, and yet it appears there is no law when it comes to illegals. The message the President’s action will send is this: if you can get to the border, you’re home free. It completely undermines the rule of law and makes the job of every law enforcement officer – which is already difficult – impossible.Sheriff Tom Hodgson, Bristol County, Massachusetts:
We already have our hands full because the border is not secure: imagine what the situation will look like when the President gives executive amnesty to those already here. It would unleash a tidal wave of illegal border crossings, overwhelming law enforcement. It will be open season for the cartels. Again: the border is not secure now – to give a presidential amnesty would be to make matters dramatically worse for our officers who are trying to do the job the President won’t.”
“It will dramatically increase the draw for illegal immigrants to come into our country, because you have the President of the United States sending out a message that we have no problem with people ignoring our immigration laws. They’re looking for a wink and nod that says ‘yeah, come on in’ – we’ve seen it with the DACA. It is the worst message you can possibly send. Come in, don’t worry about the laws, don’t wait your turn. You invite people to ignore our laws. We have no knowledge of these individuals’ background or criminal histories. We [have] minors coming in right now who have confessed to murder. We in these communities are left trying to find out: who are these people? If didn’t learn anything else post-9/11, it’s that we need to know who is in our communities and what they’re purpose is. The President’s planned order is a formula for national disaster and public safety.Keep on reading...
Every predator who is out to commit crimes is looking for the weakest link in our system. Having large illegal immigrant populations creates a safe haven for criminal activity. Criminals are becoming more emboldened.

McConnell caves on doing anything serious about Obama's Immigration EO before the EO is issued...
Sen. Mitch McConnell is a negotiating idiot. This is tantamount to us telling Iran we would never use military force to stop them from getting a nuke.
“I’ve been very disturbed about the way the president has proceeded in the wake of the election,” Sen. Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said Thursday after being elected majority leader in the next Congress…
Still, McConnell reiterated that there will be no government shutdowns or debt defaults while the GOP is in charge, despite talk among some Republicans of seeking to stop Obama’s immigration action through the appropriations process.
“We’re not shutting the government down or threatening to default on the national debt,” McConnell said…
“We’d like for the president to recognize the reality that he has the government that he has, not the government that he wishes he had,” McConnell said.
