The swamp level is a little lower today

Patrick Kennedy was heavily involved in the Benghazi disaster.
Washington (CNN)Two senior administration officials said Thursday that the Trump administration told four top State Department management officials that their services were no longer needed as part of an effort to "clean house" at Foggy Bottom.
Patrick Kennedy, who served for nine years as the undersecretary for management, Assistant Secretaries for Administration and Consular Affairs Joyce Anne Barr and Michele Bond, and Ambassador Gentry Smith, director of the Office for Foreign Missions, were sent letters by the White House that their service was no longer required, the sources told CNN.

The State Department does a Friday Benghazi document dump....

All the documents still have not been turned over...

Via Free Beacon:
The State Department turned over 1,600 pages of previously undisclosed documents related to Hillary Clinton and Libya to the House Benghazi committee on Friday, a month after it revealed the existence of the documents in an unrelated court case.
The House Select Committee on Benghazi announced it received the records on Friday, adding that the State Department has yet to fully comply with document requests the committee made nearly a year ago.
“Today the State Department turned over more than 1,600 pages of new documents related to former Secretary Clinton and Libya,” the committee said. “The State [Department] claimed in a January 8th court filing that it only recently discovered these new documents from the Office of the Secretary.”

State Department: "Bringing peace" to Syria is one of its wins in 2015

This is from Politico, not the Onion.
The State Department is counting "bringing peace" to Syria as one of its wins in 2015.
A boastful recap of the State Department’s accomplishments, written by spokesman John Kirby, includes the bold subheadline of "Bringing Peace, Security to Syria" above a more modest entry talking about U.S. aid for those affected by the country's turmoil and the U.S. push for a political transition from President Bashar Assad.
While Secretary of State John Kerry has played an integral role in the Syrian peace talks, the country remains embroiled in a nasty civil war and terrorized by the Islamic State.
“The United States and many members of the international community have stepped up to aid the Syrian people during their time of need — the United States has led the world in humanitarian aid contributions since the crisis began in 2011,” Kirby said.

State Department has no interest in searching Hillary's private server, trust she and her aides turned over documents...

Seriously?

Via Washington Examiner:
State Department officials will not attempt to search the private server Hillary Clinton turned over to the Justice Department Wednesday, court documents indicate.
“The Department is not currently working with the DOJ, the FBI, or other government agencies to search former Secretary Clinton’s private email server” for records related to a high-profile Freedom of Information Act case, the agency said in filings Friday.
Instead, State Department officials said their search of the personal emails submitted by two of Clinton’s top aides and several agency databases for relevant records was sufficient.

Hillary Clinton tampered with evidence by editing out sections of emails turned over to State department?

The sections withheld didn't relate to wedding dresses or yoga poses. Paging the Justice Department.
Hillary Clinton withheld Benghazi-related emails from the State Department that detailed her knowledge of the scramble for oil contracts in Libya and the shortcomings of the NATO-led military intervention for which she advocated.
Clinton removed specific portions of other emails she sent to State, suggesting the messages were screened closely enough to determine which paragraphs were unfit to be seen by the public. …
Clinton selectively edited other portions of emails she declined to provide to the State Department.
For example, in July 2012, Clinton removed paragraphs from a Blumenthal memo that warned “simply completing the election…and fulfilling a list of proper democratic milestones may not create a true democracy.” Blumenthal also wrote — in sections that Clinton deleted before providing the document to State — that the government would likely be “founded on Sharia,” or Islamic laws.
The group advocating to implement Sharia, Ansar al-Sharia, is a designated terrorist group that played a role in the Benghazi attacks.
But Clinton hid how much she knew about that development.

Obvious: After lousy Iran deal, State Department wants class to learn how to negotiate

Better late than never I guess...

Via WFB
Less than a week following the framework of a nuclear deal with Iran that allows the Islamic Republic to continue operating core aspects of its program, the State Department is looking for a new training course on how to negotiate.
The agency released a solicitation for “Negotiations” on Wednesday, revealing that the State Department is seeking a class for U.S. diplomats on “making and receiving concessions wisely.”
“The overall course teaches the essential skills, knowledge, and attitudes for U.S. diplomats to succeed in any of 275 overseas posts performing the full spectrum of political and economic work,” the solicitation said. “This module will focus on the complex art of negotiating across diverse cultures to find common ground for advancing mutual interests.”
The training is meant to increase “understanding and effectiveness” of negotiations between foreign powers.
The State Department said upon completion of the course diplomats will be better able to describe “basic, universal negotiating concepts and vocabulary,” and identify “objectives and underlying interests of negotiating parties.”

State Dept’s Marie Harf: Go After ‘Root Cause’ of ISIS 'Like Lack Of Jobs'

Lots of people are unemployed. It doesn't make them want to cut off infidels heads.

Via Right Scoop:

MATTHEWS: Are we killing enough of them?
HARF: We’re killing a lot of them and we’re going to keep killing more of them. So are the Egyptians, so are the Jordanians. They’re in this fight with us. But we cannot win this war by killing them. We cannot kill our way out of this war. We need in the medium to longer term to go after the root causes that leads people to join these groups, whether it’s lack of opportunity for jobs, whether —

MATTHEWS: We’re not going to be able to stop that in our lifetime or fifty lifetimes. There’s always going to be poor people. There’s always going to be poor muslims, and as long as there are poor Muslims, the trumpet’s blowing and they’ll join. We can’t stop that, can we?
HARF: We can work with countries around the world to help improve their governance. We can help them build their economies so they can have job opportunities for these people…

Stupid: State Dept Official Asked Disney About Using Frozen To Teach Climate Change…

Propaganda...

Via Mediaite:
Admiral Robert Papp, the U.S. special envoy to the Arctic, revealed at a conference in Norway this week he talked to Disney about using the characters from Frozen to teach kids about the Arctic climate and issues related to climate change.
Papp recalled seeing hundreds of children watching Frozen and how he was given the suggestion of how the government “might employ Disney to come up with some public service announcements… to tell the story of the Arctic” to kids.
And so Papp spoke with an executive at Disney about this very idea. The Disney exec had a very “perplexed” reaction and apparently told Papp they’re in the business of “optimism and happy endings.”

Inspector general report finds “undue influence and favoritism by Department management” under Hillary Clinton...

Don't look for the mainstream media to report this.

Via Daily Caller:
The State Department under Hillary Clinton played favorites and failed to fully investigate at least two cases of sexual misconduct involving a U.S. ambassador and a security officer, according to an inspector general’s report.
The inspector general reviewed eight internal investigations and found that in three of them “undue influence and favoritism by Department management” appeared to be at play.
In one case from May 2011, security staff at a U.S. Embassy believed they observed a U.S. ambassador soliciting a prostitute in a public park near the unnamed embassy.

“The tragic event makes clear that Israel must take every possible step to meet its standards for protecting civilians from being killed,” Psaki added....

Video: State Department called Bergdahl's squad mates liars...

State Dept: Bergdahl Knows Circumstances of His Capture Better Than Squad Mates

State Department deputy spokeswoman Marie Harf engaged in a heated exchange Tuesday with a reporter over the circumstances surrounding Army Sergeant Bowe Bergdahl’s capture five years ago, saying she does not think his squad mates have the best idea of what happened when he disappeared.
When Fox News reporter Lucas Tomlinson asked, “Does the State Department consider Sergeant Bergdahl to be a deserter?” Harf replied, “The State Department — no, Lucas. Look, what we’ve said is we are going to learn the facts about what happened here.”
“He’s been in captivity, Lucas. I think he’s probably the person who knows best what happened on that night,” Harf said.
Tomlinson shot back, “Well, I think his squad mates have the best indication what happened that night.”
“I don’t think that that’s the case,” Harf responded.
