Two former Walt Disney World tech employees filed federal lawsuits against the company Monday, accusing it and two outsourcing firms of conspiring to replace workers with less costly foreign ones using H-1B visas.
The lawsuits were filed in federal court, in the Middle District of Florida, by Leo Perrero and Dena Moore, who were among 250 Disney tech workers laid off about a year ago. The lawsuits seek class-action status.
Defendants include HCL Inc. and Cognizant Technologies.
Sara Blackwell, an attorney for the plaintiffs, said the lawsuits aim to “kick them [outsourcing companies] at their business model, to stop them from systemically abusing the immigration system.”

Walt Disney World sued for outsourcing tech jobs...
I went to Disney World once. I hated it. It was a huge waste of money in my opinion. Here is a great reason to boycott Disney.

Outrage: Disney blacklists IT employees replaced by foreign workers...
Disney is the worst company ever. They follow liberal social policy, but hate their workers. It's time for a boycott.

The American tech workers Disney laid off in January after forcing them to train their foreign replacements were put on a “black list” that disqualified them from hire by any contractor that works with Disney, emails obtained by The Daily Caller News Foundation between one of the laid off workers and a recruiting firm show.
The worker, who asked to remain anonymous because he is waiting on legal advice, learned of the black list when he sent his resume and performance review to a local IT recruiting firm that wanted to place him with a company contracting with Disney.

Stupid: State Dept Official Asked Disney About Using Frozen To Teach Climate Change…
Propaganda...
Via Mediaite:
Via Mediaite:
Admiral Robert Papp, the U.S. special envoy to the Arctic, revealed at a conference in Norway this week he talked to Disney about using the characters from Frozen to teach kids about the Arctic climate and issues related to climate change.
Papp recalled seeing hundreds of children watching Frozen and how he was given the suggestion of how the government “might employ Disney to come up with some public service announcements… to tell the story of the Arctic” to kids.
And so Papp spoke with an executive at Disney about this very idea. The Disney exec had a very “perplexed” reaction and apparently told Papp they’re in the business of “optimism and happy endings.”

Let the buyer beware of digital content bought online...
So, if you bought the rights to view a movie from Amazon and the company that made the movie decides to restrict it, Amazon will pull it from your digital library? That seems like theft to me. Shame on both Amazon and Disney.
Disney has decided to pull access to several purchased Christmas videos from Amazon during the holiday season, as the movie studio wants its TV-channel to have the content exclusively. Affected customers have seen their videos disappear from their online libraries, showing once again that not everything you buy is actually yours to keep.[...]
One of the affected customers of Disney’s restrictive policy is Bill, who informed BoingBoing that the Christmas themed ‘Disney Prep & Landing’ he bought for his kids last year had been pulled from his library.
“Amazon has explained to me that Disney can pull their content at any time and ‘at this time they’ve pulled that show for exclusivity on their own channel.’ In other words, Amazon sold me a Christmas special my kids can’t watch during the run up to Christmas,” Bill notes.
“It’ll be available in July though!” he adds.

Mickey Mouse to push gay agenda...
Who is up for a show with two mommies and no daddy?
Via Newsbusters:
Via Newsbusters:
Mickey Mouse just officially added the gay agenda to his programming. In early 2014, Disney Channel will be all set to air its first openly gay couple in its family-oriented TV show “Good Luck Charlie.”
According to TV Guide, an episode of the family show will air a plot in which one of the four children has a playdate with a kid who has “two moms.” TV Guide reports that “when the kid arrives, the Duncans learn that Charlie’s pal has two moms.” That’s not an issue, however, in the show: the gay couple is “fine,” apparently, and the real problem is that the dad is not entertaining enough for the gay couple, and so “the potential new friendship is put to the test as one mom chats with Amy and the other is stuck listening to Bob’s dull stories.” [...]

Disney's Hall of Presidents is Now an Obama Promotion

Disney has abandoned their normal neutrality in the Hall of Presidents display. The them of the new display is that all of Presidential history was just a build up to the election of Barack Obama. This is another good reason to avoid going to Disney. Now that Robobama has taken it's place in the exhibit, we have to wonder how people will be able to tell if he's real or not?
From MICEAGE:
This past weekend, Walt Disney World's Magic Kingdom offered a sneak peek of a revamped Hall of Presidents, now including President Obama, to annual passholders (with separate screenings for Cast Members). By the end of the day Sunday, regular guests were admitted to the attraction as well, and full-blown soft opening appears underway. The attraction opens publicly on July 4th.
The verdict by most reviewers online and in discussion boards has been positive, and in some cases glowingly positive. Yet this is a difficult attraction to review completely and in a way that will appear objective to all readers, because as I see it, Walt Disney Imagineering (WDI) seems to have done something new here: on the surface of things, they appear to have taken sides politically. I've already witnessed first-hand that this makes some people react less than favorably to the show. It probably won't be the majority of people who dislike it, but the days of the attraction being seen as a fully neutral presentation are gone, at least for now.
The attraction sports new marquees, a new countdown clock indicating how many minutes until the next show, and a new subtitle: "A Celebration of Liberty's Leaders." There are new movies (well, slideshow presentations), and they are displayed in eye-popping, unrealistically bright and cheerful projections, the result of a switch to digital projectors. It's jarring, in fact, how "fresh" that part of the show looks when compared to your memory of the dingy, cracked, faded, and often dirty film print that used to run here.
But this is no mere freshening of the same show, with the new president plopped into place at the end. This was a fundamental rethink of the show's purpose, scope, and orientation. The bottom line is that the show now offers park visitors an actual, honest to goodness thesis: everything in American presidential history, it claims by virtue of a new storyline, has been inexorably leading up to this moment, and the election of Barack Obama is the culmination of a long "development" in us as a culture and a society. There will be many who cheer this line of reasoning, but it strikes me that others may resent the apparent taking of sides. Had John McCain won the election, would the show celebrate in a similar way? (accent is mine)
