Stupid: 20,000 kg of relief goods bound for storm-ravaged Oklahoma stopped at the border by bureaucracy...

You government at work...

Via CNBC Canada:
A Canadian shipment of relief goods bound for storm-ravaged Oklahoma has been stopped at the Canada-U.S. border in Windsor, Ont.

American officials will not allow the 20,000 kilograms of food, blankets and diapers into the country until every item on board is itemized in alphabetical order and has the country of origin of every product noted.

Dennis Sauve, the volunteer co-ordinator for Windsor Lifeline Outreach and the food bank co-ordinator at the Windsor Christian Fellowship, the two organizations that gathered the goods, said it's a "physical impossibility" to do the paperwork required in time to get the perishable food to Oklahoma before it spoils.

A tornado three kilometres wide ripped through Moore on May 20. The twister killed 24 people and injured close to 400. It destroyed 1,200 homes and damaged another 10,000.

Fun Video: Chinese official who misses plane totally flips out

Even master bureaucrats become frustrated with the bureaucracy.

Via the Global Times:
Yan Linkun, a member of the Chinese People’s Political Consultative Committee (CPPCC) from Shizong county, Yunnan Province, has come under the spotlight for smashing equipment at a boarding gate at Kunming Changshui International Airport. …
After an official investigation, the man in the video was confirmed to be Yan Linkun, a member of the CPPCC Committee of Shizong county and vice chairman of the Guangdong Yunnan Mining Company under the Guangdong Fengle Group. …
Zhang Dahong, the general manager of Yunnan Mining Industry Company, said on Sunday that the group had decided to suspend Yan, and local police are also conducting an investigation.
I wonder how many Americans have felt like this when dealing with TSA?

Taxpayers spent $59,523 in 2011 for each poor household.

If we had just gave them a $59,000 a year job, they wouldn't have been poor anymore. My guess is much of the money was eat up by the bureaucracy.
(CNSNews.com) – The federal government spent enough money on federal means-tested welfare programs to have sent each impoverished household a check for nearly $60,000, according to figures from the Census Bureau and theCongressional Research Service(CRS).
According to a report from the CRS produced for Sen. Jeff Sessions (R-Ala.), $1 trillion was spent on federal welfare programs during fiscal year 2011 – with $746 billion in federal funds and $254 in state matching funds.
The U.S. Census Bureau reported that there were approximately 16.8 million households living below the federal poverty level of $23,000 per year for a family of four in 2011.
If each of the estimated 16.8 million households with income below the poverty level were to have received an equal share of the total welfare spending for fiscal year 2011, they each would have received $59,523.

Good: Inheriting $65 million art work, Bad: Being told it is a felony to sell it, Really Bad: Being told by the IRS you owe $29 million in inheritance taxes anyway

Our government is really stupid. Are all bureaucrats lobotomized as a job requirement?

Via NYT's:
The object under discussion is “Canyon,” a masterwork of 20th-century art created by Robert Rauschenberg that Mrs. Sonnabend’s children inherited when she died in 2007.
Because the work, a sculptural combine, includes a stuffed bald eagle, a bird under federal protection, the heirs would be committing a felony if they ever tried to sell it. So their appraisers have valued the work at zero.
But the Internal Revenue Service takes a different view. It has appraised “Canyon” at $65 million and is demanding that the owners pay $29.2 million in taxes.

Bureaucracy Fail: Swedish Man Has to Prove Amputated Leg Hasn't Grown Back to Keep Handicapped Parking Pass

In America, they will give you a handicapped parking pass for just being fat. In Sweden, a man has to prove his amputated leg hasn't grown back to keep his. Bureaucracy breeds morons.

Even though ten years have passed since Fredrik Jansson from SkellefteƄ in northern Sweden had his leg amputated, he must still prove his leg hasn't grown back in order to keep his disabled parking permit.
“It is ridiculous to say the least. It defies all common sense,” Jansson told The Local.

Eleven years ago, Jansson was forced to have his leg amputated after a long battle with cancer.

Despite the fact that it is unlikely his condition will get better, he regularly has to prove to local authorities that he has enough trouble walking to need a disabled parking permit.

“I go down to UmeĆ„ once every three years and have a doctor establish my leg is still gone,“ he said.

The Road map to Grinding Health Care to a Halt

Do you want to now how the Democrats plan to grind our health care system to a halt? Just check this bureaucratic map they have released. Does anyone really think this would make health care more efficient and affordable?

(click for larger view)

From Fox News:
House Democrats' health care reform bill would create a mind-boggling "web of bureaucracy," Republican critics charged Wednesday as they sought to block Democrats from hastily passing a costly and sweeping health package on orders from President Obama.

Stressing his point, House Minority Leader John Boehner unveiled a dizzying flow chart that he said would represent how health care coverage would look under the plan being pushed by House Democrats.

The chart shows the president and Congress at the top, with dozens of agencies and officials responsible for various slices of the health care program underneath.

The suggestion inherent in the chart is that the health care system would grind to a near-halt under the Democrats' plan.
