Stupid: 20,000 kg of relief goods bound for storm-ravaged Oklahoma stopped at the border by bureaucracy...

You government at work...

Via CNBC Canada:
A Canadian shipment of relief goods bound for storm-ravaged Oklahoma has been stopped at the Canada-U.S. border in Windsor, Ont.

American officials will not allow the 20,000 kilograms of food, blankets and diapers into the country until every item on board is itemized in alphabetical order and has the country of origin of every product noted.

Dennis Sauve, the volunteer co-ordinator for Windsor Lifeline Outreach and the food bank co-ordinator at the Windsor Christian Fellowship, the two organizations that gathered the goods, said it's a "physical impossibility" to do the paperwork required in time to get the perishable food to Oklahoma before it spoils.

A tornado three kilometres wide ripped through Moore on May 20. The twister killed 24 people and injured close to 400. It destroyed 1,200 homes and damaged another 10,000.

Climate Change Alarmists: Hey, those tornadoes may have been caused by global warming

Al Gore claimed the Smowmagedden in Washington and cold temperatures last winter were caused by global warming. This winter there has been a noted absence of significant snow and mild temperatures across large parts of North America. What do the 'Warmists' do when the winter is mild and spring seems to come early? They blame a tornado outbreak on global warming.
NEW YORK (Reuters) – When at least 80 tornadoes rampaged across the United States, from the Midwest to the Gulf of Mexico, last Friday, it was more than is typically observed during the entire month of March, tracking firm AccuWeather.com reported on Monday.
According to some climate scientists, such earlier-than-normal outbreaks of tornadoes, which typically peak in the spring, will become the norm as the planet warms.
“As spring moves up a week or two, tornado season will start in February instead of waiting for April,” said climatologist Kevin Trenberth of the National Center for Atmospheric Research.
Whether climate change will also affect the frequency or severity of tornadoes, however, remains very much an open question, and one that has received surprisingly little study.

Vice President Biden’s former chief of staff cites hurricanes and tornadoes as proof of global warming

Ron Klain, Vice President Biden’s former chief of staff criticized Rick Perry's claim that CO2 induced global warming isn't proven. He basically accused him of listening to 'bought' scientists.
WASHINGTON — Ron Klain, Vice President Biden’s former chief of staff, went to bat for the Obama administration Thursday afternoon as he swatted away suggestions from Rick Perry and Mitt Romney that global warming isn’t caused by people.
“They’re playing to their base,” Klain said on MSNBC. “It’s primary politics.”
In defense of global warming being a man-made problem, Klain cited “hurricanes” and “a record year for tornadoes,” also claiming that Republicans are citing information from “scientists and researchers sponsored by the oil industry.”
Lets fact check Klain's claim global warming is affecting hurricane activity. The chart below is from NOAA. The green hatched part of the bars indicate the number of hurricanes by year. The red part of the bars indicate category 3 or higher hurricanes. The yellow indicates named storm systems. As you can clearly see, the recent higher temperatures do not correlate to more or stronger hurricanes. The most occurred in the 1930's. The strongest in the 1950's.

Here is a chart from NOAA depicting the number of tornadoes by month from 1950 to 2010. Dark red indicates the largest number of tornadoes per month. Dark blue indicates the fewest. The early 1970's and early 1990's were the worst time periods for tornadoes.

Sorry Al: NOAA Scientist Rejects Global Warming Link to Tornadoes

Put Al Gore back on Suicide watch. Top NOAA official says Tornadoes and global warming are not linked.
A top official at the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) rejected claims by environmental activists that the outbreak of tornadoes ravaging the American South is related to climate change brought on by global warming.

Greg Carbin, the warning coordination meteorologist at NOAA’s Storm Prediction Center in Norman, Oklahoma, said warming trends do create more of the fuel that tornadoes require, such as moisture, but that they also deprive tornadoes of another essential ingredient: wind shear.

“We know we have a warming going on,” Carbin told Fox News in an interview Thursday, but added: “There really is no scientific consensus or connection [between global warming and tornadic activity]….Jumping from a large-scale event like global warming to relatively small-scale events like tornadoes is a huge leap across a variety of scales.”
