Oprah disses Obama over Obamacare...

Obama appears to have lost Oprah...

Via NY Post:
As the White House was gearing up to sell ObamaCare to the American people last summer, Valerie Jarrett, the president’s pointwoman on a host of issues, phoned Oprah Winfrey.
She invited the Queen of All Media to join celebrities, including Amy Poehler, Jennifer Hudson and Alicia Keys, to meet with President Obama and discuss how they could generate publicity for his health-care law.
Oprah refused.
“All of Oprah’s top people thought she would go, because when the president invites you to the White House, most people automatically say yes,” said one of Oprah’s closest advisers. “But Oprah said she didn’t have the time or inclination to go. It wasn’t like she had to think it over. It was an immediate, flat-out, unequivocal no.”
Instead, Oprah sent a low-level rep from one of her talent agencies, which was regarded as a insult. Obama had been counting on Oprah’s immense persuasive powers to help enroll millions in ObamaCare. But as the rollout turned into a disaster, Oprah didn’t lift a finger to help.

Humorous: Oprah gets slammed in India

It's about time Oprah got her comeuppance. Kudos to India.
Oprah Winfrey's special program on India drew the ire of several Indian media outlets on July 21, who called the show "myopic, unaware, ignorant and gauche." The program was featured in the "Oprah's Next Chapter" series, which has the long-time talk show star traipsing around outside the studio for "enlightening conversations with newsmakers, celebrities, thought leaders and real-life families."

Her foray in India aired in the United States in April but premiered in India this weekend. The two-episode special featured a trip to some Mumbai slums, the Jaipur Literature Festival and the glitzy homes of Bollywood stars.

Winfrey was criticized for reinforcing exotic and backward stereotypes of India, particularly when she commented that she heard that Indians "still" eat with their hands.  "I don't know what people in America are eating their hot dogs, pizzas and tacos with but perhaps Oprah's home has evolved cutlery for all that," commented Rajyasree Sen, a columnist on Firstpost, an online Indian newspaper.

Feel Good Story: OWN Cancels “The Rosie Show”

Hopefully, the end of the entire OWN network will soon follow.
(LA Times) — Things ain’t so rosy for Rosie O’Donnell: OWN has cancelled her daily talk show.
“The Rosie Show” will tape its final show on Tuesday, according to the network. The final episode will air on Friday, March 30.

The gabfest, which brought in minuscule ratings, debuted on OWN in October 2011 and was on the air for five months. It had occupied the same space where Winfrey’s long-running daytime show was shot in Chicago’s Harpo Studios. After millions were spent to renovate the space, the show underwent a format change, initiated by O’Donnell, in January that downscaled the show, ridding it of the studio audience and band.

Oprah Winfrey reduced to begging for ratings for failing OWN network

Oh how the mighty have fallen....
(NY Daily News) — Oprah Winfrey may be feeling the pressure over her fledgling network’s sputtering ratings.
A tweet from the talk show host’s Twitter account asked followers, “Every 1 who can please turn to OWN especially if u have a Nielsen box,” in what seems to be a plea to boost ratings numbers.

Winfrey publically apologized for the tweet, which was subsequently deleted — after being informed that the move may have violated Nielsen policy prohibiting networks from influencing ratings.

“I removed the tweet at the request of Nielsen,” Winfrey said in a statement Monday. “ I intended no harm and apologize for the reference.”

Blagojevich seriously considered offering Oprah Winfrey the Senate seat vacated by Barack Obama

On tapes played in court, Blagojevich makes clear that he seriously considered offering the Barack Obama Senate seat to Oprah Winfrey. Oprah would probably make a better Senator than the joke from Minnesota Al Franken. WGNtv has a video that includes the audio of the Blagojevich Oprah comments.

The Washington Post reported:
In a Nov. 21, 2008, conversation, Blagojevich makes clear that he seriously considered offering the job to Oprah Winfrey. His chief of staff, John Harris, calls the idea “crazy” and says, “So . . . you’re trying to shed some grace on thee by picking her?”

“What do you mean?” Blagojevich asks.

“Meaning,” Harris replies, “isn’t it just simply you’re looking for a celebrity to be your friend?”

“No, not at all,” Blagojevich continues. “This one, she’s so up there, so high, that nobody can assail this pick. This would be huge.”
