Obama campaign flies in David Axelrod on Air Force One. Refuses to say how much of the cost they reimburse.

Let me take a guess. The price of one coach airline ticket?

Unlikely: Obama campaign claims they are intentionally keeping crowd sizes small

The only people stupid enough to believe this work for the mainstream media...

Via NY Times:
. . . “We have plenty of time for big rallies,” a campaign spokeswoman, Jen Psaki, said between the rallies on Thursday. “Our focus right now is on exciting our supporters and winning over undecided voters and the smaller and medium-size events are the best venue to accomplish that because the president can closely engage with the crowd.”
Big rallies are expensive, especially given the logistical and security challenges for a president as opposed to a mere United States senator. And Obama campaign operatives, both at the Chicago headquarters and in swing states where Mr. Obama recently has stumped, say the campaign intentionally limits crowds by restricting tickets. The reason is to allow the president to better connect with supporters, aides say.

Was the Priorities USA Action cancer death ad 'Understand' shot at the same time as campaign Obama's May 'Steel ' ad?

The answer isn't 100% clear, but there is good reason for suspicion. They both feature former steel worker Joe Soptic, whose wife died from cancer. Mr. Soptic looks identical, from the shirt he wears to the length of his hair and the two stray hairs on top of his head, in the two videos. The only noticeable difference is he wears glasses in the May Obama 'Steel' ad. This could all be coincidental, but it is unlikely in my opinion. In early May or late April, depending on the exact shoot time, the long sleeve shirt would have made sense. It doesn't make sense for the Priorities USA Action 'Understand' ad if it was shot in June, July or early August. The area of Kansas City, Missouri has been in a heat wave for that time; like much of the central USA. The average max temperature for July was a blistering 99 degrees. Long sleeves don't make sense for this hot summer. Also, the outdoors shots from both videos show a very cloudy, almost rainy looking, day. This area of Missouri is currently in a D4 exceptional drought.

Here are the ads.

Obama campaign releases Democrat stalking app

Are they insane?

Via Propublica:
Curious how many Democrats live on your block? Just download the Obama campaign’s new mobile app.
The app, released last week, includes a Google map for canvassers that recognizes your current location and marks nearby Democratic households with small blue flags.

For each targeted address, the app displays the first name, age and gender of the voter or voters who live there: “Lori C., 58 F, Democrat.”

All this is public information, which campaigns have long given to volunteers. But you no longer have to schedule a visit to a field office and wait for a staffer to hand you a clipboard and a printed-out list of addresses.

With the Obama app, getting a glimpse of your neighbor’s political affiliation can take seconds.

63% say Romney's Bain Capital business background would help in dealing with the nation’s economic problems

President Obama has spent 10's of millions of dollars on his Bain Capital attack against Romney. It has been a complete failure. Unfortunately for the Obama campaign, they don't have another major card to play. Romney appears to be squeaky clean. They could attack him for being a flip-flopper, but most of the issues he has flip-flopped on would make Independents and even Democrats more likely to vote for him, not less.
WASHINGTON – Despite concerted Democratic attacks on his business record, Republican challenger Mitt Romney scores a significant advantage over President Obama when it comes to managing the economy, reducing the federal budget deficit and creating jobs, a national USA TODAY/Gallup Poll finds.
By more than 2-1, 63%-29%, those surveyed say Romney’s background in business, including his tenure at the private equity firm Bain Capital, would cause him to make good decisions, not bad ones, in dealing with the nation’s economic problems over the next four years.
The findings raise questions about Obama’s strategy of targeting Bain’s record in outsourcing jobs and hammering Romney for refusing to commit to releasing more than two years of his tax returns. Instead, Americans seem focused on the economy, where disappointment with the fragile recovery and the 8.2% unemployment rate are costing the president.

The Obama Bain Strategy Explained

Just in case you don't understand the strategy, Josh Marshall provides a great explaination.
...The Obama campaign is hitting this so hard to take a series of associations and embed them so deeply into voters’ consciousness that they become inseparable from the mention of the phrase ‘Bain Capital’. Those are ‘joke’, ‘liar’, ‘felon’, ‘retroactively retired’, ‘SEC filings’, ‘Caymans’, ‘whiner’, ‘buck stops here’, ‘hiding something’.

You can spin these out forever. But beyond all the specific accusations, they’re painting a picture that makes Romney look ridiculous, like a joke. They’re making Romney look stupid and powerless on the front where he believes he’s one of the standouts of his generation. And that’s plain lethal for a presidential candidate.

But how does it come into play? Simple. Mitt Romney has two claims on the presidency: successful governor of major state and captain of industry. He’s largely written off the first by disavowing a genuine and perhaps far-reaching accomplishment: health care reform. Which leaves him with Bain Capital.... Keep on reading...

President Obama’s campaign fundraises off killer heat wave

Shameful...
President Obama’s campaign has issued increasingly urgent fundraising pleas, and the latest appears to capitalize on the record heat sweeping through the mid-Atlantic and Midwest.

“Keep cool while you’re canvassing this summer,” the Obama campaign tweeted Saturday evening. The message contained a link to a $30 Obama tank top. “Our Vote Obama Tank Top is a stylish and fun way to show your support,” the campaign says.

The campaign was pushing the tank tops as record heat combined with a loss of power following storms to create a humanitarian emergency in several states.
