Guess where Hamas headquarters in Gaza is...

If you guessed in a bunker under a hospital, you win.

Via Tablet Magazine:
The idea that one of Hamas’ main command bunkers is located beneath Shifa Hospital in Gaza City is one of the worst-kept secrets of the Gaza war. So why aren’t reporters in Gaza ferreting it out? The precise location of a large underground bunker equipped with sophisticated communications equipment and housing some part of the leadership of a major terrorist organization beneath a major hospital would seem to qualify as a world-class scoop—the kind that might merit a Pulitzer, or at least a Polk.
So why isn’t the fact that Hamas uses Shifa Hospital as a command post making headlines? In part, it’s because the location is so un-secret that Hamas regularly meets with reporters there. On July 15, for example, William Booth of the Washington Post wrote that the hospital “has become a de facto headquarters for Hamas leaders, who can be seen in the hallways and offices.” Back in 2006, PBS even aired a documentary showing how gunmen roam the halls of the hospital, intimidate the staff, and deny them access to protected locations within the building—where the camera crew was obviously prohibited from filming. Yet the confirmation that Hamas is using Gaza City’s biggest hospital as its de facto headquarters was made in the last sentence of the eighth paragraph of Booth’s story—which would appear to be the kind of rookie mistake that is known in journalistic parlance as “burying the lede.”

Another hospital lays off employees because of #Obamacare

Now that they are unemployed, they can probably sign up for free medicaid.
Des Moines, IA NBC affiliate WHO reported on Thursday that Mercy Medical Center, a hospital in Des Moines, has had to lay off 29 people, which is attributed in part to the ObamaCare law according to Bob Ritz, president of Mercy Medical Center.
“As the federal government and state payment systems continue to ratchet down on what they pay us and our costs go up, we have to look for opportunities to create cost efficiencies,” Ritz said. “And one way you do that is you reduce your management costs. So if we have a department that has a director and a manager and two supervisors for let’s say 75 staff, we may remove one of those positions to what we say are the layers of management.”

Canadian Hospital Cuts Services to Pay Carbon Tax

This story combines the folly of two of Obama's main legislative goals into one neat story. President Obama wants to create a national health care system and institute carbon taxes to reduce CO2 emissions. Canada already has both those programs. How is it working out for them? There are complaints about long waits for health care in Canada and hospitals are cutting services to pay their share of the carbon tax. Is this the change you voted for America?
Surrey Leader reported:
The Lower Mainland's health authorities will have to dig more than $4 million a year out of their already stretched budgets to pay B.C.'s carbon tax and offset their carbon footprints.

Critics say the payments mean the government's strategy to fight climate change will further exacerbate a crisis in health funding.

"You have public hospitals cutting services to pay a tax that goes to another 100 per cent government-owned agency," NDP health critic Adrian Dix said.

"That just doesn't make sense."

The Fraser Health Authority will pay $616,000 in carbon tax this year, rising to $821,000 next year, officials there said.

In London, some hospitals took meat off their menu to reduce their carbon footprint.

Chicago University Hospital paid Michelle Obama for not working

No wonder health care costs are so unaffordable. At least this should really make Michelle proud to be an American. The AP reported today that:
Obama earned $139,204 as a Democratic senator from Illinois last year before leaving his seat after winning the November election. Michelle Obama received a salary of $62,709 from the University of Chicago Hospitals, where she was an executive.

The only problem is Michelle Obama did not work last year. Instead, she campaigned with her husband. Her hospital job was eliminated after she left. I guess they didn't need her after all.
