USA TODAY/Gallup Poll: Obama now owns the poor economy

It's abut time. The blame Bush card was wearing thin.
WASHINGTON — Americans’ pessimism about the economy and its future is deepening, a USA TODAY/Gallup Poll finds, and they are increasingly willing to hold President Obama responsible for hard times.
Eight of 10 say the economy is in a recession, and nearly as many say it hasn’t improved over the past year. Even more ominous: Six in 10 predict the economy a year from now will be the same or worse than today, a downturn from the public’s views last year and the year before.

Former president George W. Bush deserves a great deal of blame, 36% say, a decline of 7 percentage points since mid-2009, five months after he had left office.

Twenty-four percent say Obama deserves a great deal of the blame, up 10 points since 2009. For the first time since he took office, a majority of Americans — including six in 10 independents — say he deserves a great deal or moderate amount of blame for the nation’s economic woes.

President Obama's Inexperience Has Brought Palestinian Statehood To A Crisis

The same thing President Obama is now facing happened to former President H. W. Bush. He knew how to nip it in the bud.
Here is a better course: The Obama Administration, which has wasted six months begging the Palestinians to change course, might instead announce that a declaration of Palestinian statehood in New York would lead to the closure of the Palestinian representative's office in Washington. Congress could also enact Florida Republican Rep. Ileana Ros-Lehtinen's bill to cut funding to the U.N. if it endorses a Palestinian state. This worked wonders the last time the Palestinians sought to have the U.N. declare their state during the George H.W. Bush Administration. Read whole WSJ editorial.

Who is up for a 90% top tax bracket?

Hollywood moonbat Ron Howard is. Hey, Opie. Just send in a check if you think you feel you aren't paying your fair share.
(TheDC) — Life was simpler in the fictional town of Mayberry, N.C., where “The Andy Griffith Show” was set, and images of Sheriff Andy Taylor and his son Opie evoke a more prosperous America. But did the mystique of that setting include a 90 percent tax rate on the wealthy?

On MSNBC Wednesday, appearing from the National Press Club in Washington, D.C., director and producer Ron Howard said he would be open to the wealthy paying more taxes.

“Well, to be honest, I remember on the ‘Andy Griffith Show’ when income taxes for the upper levels were as much as 90 percent,” Howard said. “And that’s the era that we often look back to with great nostalgia and it was a time of tremendous growth. So you know, I’m not averse to paying some taxes to try to help the country grow and help the economy grow.”

Junk Science: Team Obama Still Pushing Junk Science Diet

There is now doubt many Americans are obese. The reasons behind it are lack of exercise and eating to much food. If you want to weigh less, eat less and exercise more. It is that simple. Liberals have a different idea to make Americans more healthy. They want to control your diet. In a misguided effort, the government has targeted salt and fat in our diet for years. That attack has gone on steroids under the Obama administration.

There is no scientific reason for the government to try and restrict the salt intake of most Americans. A recent study actually found those on a low salt diet had a significantly higher cardiovascular death rate.
Which is more dangerous: dietary salt or the government’s dietary guidelines? A new study confirms some old truths.

A new study published in the Journal of the American Medical Association (May 4), reports that among 3,681 study subjects followed for as long as 23 years, the cardiovascular death rate was more than 50 percent higher among those on who consumed less salt.

The researchers concluded that their findings, “refute the estimates of computer model of lives saved and health care costs reduced with lower salt intake” and they do not support “the current recommendations of a generalized and indiscriminate reduction in salt intake at the population level.”

But that sort of reduction is precisely what the U.S. government now recommends.
There have been many studies in the past that cast doubt on the low sodium diet. The low fat diet was debunked several years ago. Meanwhile, Michelle Obama Obama continues her crusade to control what we eat.
WASHINGTON -- Calorie by calorie, first lady Michelle Obama is chipping away at big portions and unhealthy food in an effort to help America slim down.
In the year and a half since she announced her campaign to curb childhood obesity, Mrs. Obama has stood alongside Wal-Mart, Olive Garden and many other food companies as they have announced improvements to their recipes – fewer calories, less sodium, better children's menus.
The changes are small steps, in most cases. Fried foods and french fries will still be on the menu, though enticing pictures of those foods may be gone. High-sodium soups, which many consumers prefer, will still be on the grocery aisle. But the amount of sodium in each can will gradually decrease in some cases, and the taste of their low-sodium variety will be improved.
On Thursday, the first lady joined Darden Restaurants Inc. executives at one of their Olive Garden restaurants in Hyattsville, Md., near Washington to announce that the company's chains are pledging to cut calories and sodium in their meals by 20 percent over a decade. Fruit or vegetable side dishes and low-fat milk will become standard with kids' meals unless a substitution is requested.
Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack says we will get used to the taste of less salt in our food.
(CNS News) — The Obama administration’s focus on what Americans eat includes Agriculture Secretary Tom Vilsack, who said on Monday that Americans will “adjust” their tastes to the food the government says is best for people to eat.

Report: Top Solyndra executives to plea the 5th amendment and refuse to answer Congressional questions

Look for members of team Obama to adopt a similar strategy.
Sept 20 (Reuters) — Solyndra LLC’s chief executive and chief financial officer will invoke their Fifth Amendment rights and decline to answer any questions put to them at a Congressional hearing on Friday, according to letters from their attorneys obtained by Reuters.

In the letters sent to the House Energy and Commerce Committee’s Subcommittee on Oversight and Investigations, attorneys for Solyndra CEO Brian Harrison and CFO W. G. Stover said they advised their clients not to provide testimony during the hearings.

The bankrupt company’s $535 million federal loan guarantee is being investigated by the House Energy and Commerce Committee.

Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) defends Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s description of Social Security as a “Ponzi scheme.”

If it looks like a duck, quacks like a duck and poops like a duck, it's probably a duck.
(The Hill) — The Republican chairman of the House Budget Committee on Tuesday drew fire from the Democrats for backing Texas Gov. Rick Perry’s description of Social Security as a “Ponzi scheme.”
Social Security fits the technical definition of a Ponzi scheme, Rep. Paul Ryan (R-Wis.) told conservative Laura Ingraham on her radio show.

“It’s not a criminal enterprise, but it’s a pay-as-you-go system, where earlier investors — or say, taxpayers — get a positive rate of return, and the most recent investors — or taxpayers — get a negative rate of return,” he said. “That is how those schemes work.”
