Amusing: NTSB apologizes for confirming fake Asiana Air pilot names...
The NTSB confirmed the pilots names were t"Captain Sum Ting Wong" and "Wi Tu Lo."
Via The LA Times:
An intern at the National Transportation Safety Board confirmed to a Bay Area television station fake, racially insensitive names of the pilots flying the ill-fated Asiana Airlines Flight 214. The segment on Friday at noon that referred to two of the pilots as "Captain Sum Ting Wong," and "Wi Tu Lo," has gone viral and drawn heavy criticism on the Internet. Late Friday, the NTSB apologized for the incident. "Earlier today, in response to an inquiry from a media outlet, a summer intern acted outside the scope of his authority when he erroneously confirmed the names of the flight crew on the aircraft," the NTSB said in a statement. "The NTSB does not release or confirm the names of crewmembers or people involved in transportation accidents to the media. We work hard to ensure that only appropriate factual information regarding an investigation is released and deeply regret today's incident. Appropriate actions will be taken to ensure that such a serious error is not repeated," the statement added. It remains unclear how the station got the names in the first place. Two teenage girls from China and another passenger were killed and more than 180 people injured when the Boeing 777 clipped a sea wall and slammed into a runway Saturday at San Francisco International Airport.Watch the video for the TV report that used the fake confirmed names.

Stupid: After Asiana Airlines flight 214 crash, these was an announcement saying the plane had safely landed
I wonder what Asiana Airlines idea of a bad landing is?
Via ABC and Yahoo:
Via ABC and Yahoo:
Hyung said he and his family survived the crash without injury, but he was clearly shaken by the harrowing close call.
"Just minutes before landing, I looked out the window and realized the plane's angle was strangely tilted. The seawater level did not look right," said Hyung, a Korean citizen who lives near Berkeley. His wife is an American citizen.
"Suddenly, the plane's tail part hit the ground and the aircraft bounced upwards and then bam, it hit the ground again. This time it felt like the entire plane hit parallel, but tilted to the left. That pressure was huge. Very strong. I saw luggages fall from the top. And the plane gradually stopped.
"Until then, there was no warning. The drop happened without a warning," he said.
Still stunned by the crash, he said, "We heard an announcement saying the plane has safely landed and everyone should stay put."
Hyung said he put on an oxygen mask that had dropped down and put another on his young son and ran to the door.
"But I was turned back to my seat by the flight attendants. Right when I came back to my seat, I saw smoke and fire outside the right window. The flames were spreading and smoke started to come inside the aircraft. I grabbed my wife and son and ran to the exit door. By then, they had slides ready," he said.

WaPo Opinion Writer Tries to Link Insane Pilot to Tea Party Movement

This didn't take long. The left is trying to tie the pilot who crashed his plane into an IRS office building in Austin, Texas to the Tea Party movement. A Wapo columnist opined the following:
Joseph Stack was angry at the Internal Revenue Service, and he took his rage out on it by slamming his single-engine plane into the Echelon Building in Austin, Texas. We now know this thanks to the rather clear (as rants go) suicide note Stack left behind. There's no information yet on whether he was involved in any anti-government groups or whether he was a lone wolf. But after reading his 34-paragraph screed, I am struck by how his alienation is similar to that we're hearing from the extreme elements of the Tea Party movement.
Jonathan Capehart failed to mention Joseph Stack had this to say about former President Bush:
As government agencies go, the FAA is often justifiably referred to as a tombstone agency, though they are hardly alone. The recent presidential puppet GW Bush and his cronies in their eight years certainly reinforced for all of us that this criticism rings equally true for all of the government. Nothing changes unless there is a body count (unless it is in the interest of the wealthy sows at the government trough). In a government full of hypocrites from top to bottom, life is as cheap as their lies and their self-serving laws.
Capehart also dropped this ending to Stack's manifesto:
The communist creed: From each according to his ability, to each according to his need.
The capitalist creed: From each according to his gullibility, to each according to his greed.
Sounds like Joseph Stack was down on capitalism.
