John Boehner was literally stinking up Congress...

Apparently, Boehner was smoking like an old freight train in his office. Smoking is banned throughout the Capitol. Of course, laws are for the little people.

WASHINGTON (Reuters) - Wisconsin Republican Paul Ryan can add one more burning issue to his agenda as the new speaker of the U.S. House of Representatives: how to get rid of the stench of cigarette smoke.
Ryan said on Sunday he has been trying to come up with ways to remove the smell of cigarettes from the House speaker's office that he took over on Thursday after he replaced the retiring John Boehner, a heavy smoker.
Asked if he is going to be able to get the smell of smoke out of the place, the fitness-conscious congressman said, "That's a really good question. And we've been talking about that."
"They have these ozone machines, apparently, that you can detoxify the environment. But I'm going to have to work on the carpeting in here," Ryan told the NBC program "Meet the Press."

Boehner plans on joining with democrats to fund Planned Parenthood...

Betrayal...
(CNSNews.com) - House Speaker John Boehner said on CBS’s "Face the Nation" this morning that there will be no government shutdown—thus signaling that the House of Representatives he will lead until the end of next month will not send the Senate a continuing resolution that Democrats there would filibuster because it prohibits funding of Planned Parenthood or that President Barack Obama would veto for the same reason.
In response to a follow-up question from host John Dickerson, Boehner said he was "sure" the funding bill he will put through the  Republican-majority House will need Democratic votes to pass.
The law currently funding the government will expire on Wednesday, the last day of fiscal 2015.

John Boehner calls Ted Cruz “that jackass”

"Hellbent" on passing immigration reform...
At a Steamboat Springs event for GOP Rep. Scott Tipton, the Ohio Republican quipped that he likes how Cruz’s presidential campaign keeps “that jackass” out of Washington, and from telling Boehner how to do his job…
“I don’t think it’s terribly speaker-like, and I think it kind of goes against everything that Reagan ever said about disparaging Republicans,” said Ed MacArthur, the president of Native Excavating, who attended the fundraiser…
Another Steamboat Springs resident confirmed Boehner’s remark: “I about fell on the floor.”
“To build coalitions to work together in Washington, D.C., you don’t start it out by calling your colleague a ‘jackass,’” she said.

House Speakers surrenders again on spending bills before the battle seriously begins...

Someone tell me what the difference between the current GOP leadership and Democrats is...
WASHINGTON (MarketWatch) - There won't be a federal-government shutdown this year, and Congress will work on a temporary spending measure in September, once lawmakers return from their summer recess, House Speaker John Boehner, said Thursday. Democrats and Republicans have been unable to agree on annual spending bills, and without a deal by Sept. 30, the government will partially shut down.

Push Back: Boehner invites Netanyahu to address Congress without consulting WH

If Obama doesn't care want the GOP controlled Congress thinks, why should they defer to him on anything?
January 21, 2015 President Obama warned Congress Tuesday night that he would veto any new sanctions legislation on Iran, saying it would derail U.S. negotiations in the Middle East. But John Boehner isn't ready to sit out the battle over Iran's nuclear program.
"[Obama's] exact message to us was: 'Hold your fire.' He expects us to stand idly by and do nothing while he cuts a bad deal with Iran. Two words: 'Hell no!'" the House speaker said during his weekly press briefing on Wednesday. "We're going to do no such thing."
Instead, Boehner has invited Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu to address Congress next month. He didn't consult with the White House before extending the invitation, and administration officials are not happy. Press secretary Josh Earnest said Wednesday afternoon that Boehner's invitation is a breach of normal diplomatic protocol. Typically, a nation's leader would contact the White House before planning a visit to the United States, he said. The White House heard about the invite from Boehner's office, not from the Israelis.

Boehner's revenge: Florida Reps. Daniel Webster and Rich Nugent booted from the influential Rules Committee.

Spray tan kisses Botox

Via Politico
John Boehner’s allies have thirsted for the speaker to strike back at those who betray him. He’s been walked all over for too long, they say, and he’s too nice to people who are eager to stab him in the back.
He finally has learned the lesson.
After he secured his third term as speaker Tuesday afternoon, losing 25 votes on the House floor to some relative-unknown members of the House Republican Conference, Boehner moved swiftly to boot Florida Reps. Daniel Webster and Rich Nugent from the influential Rules Committee.
The reason was simple: Webster ran against Boehner for speaker, distributing fliers outlining his candidacy and talking about how he would better adhere to the House rules than the Ohio Republican. Nugent supported his fellow Floridian in the quixotic endeavor, which garnered the support of 12 lawmakers. Webster didn’t even give Boehner a heads-up that he was running, although leadership was aware early Tuesday morning that it could happen.

Whatever happened to that #Obamacare lawsuit Boehner claimed he was filing against Obama?

Apparently, Boehner is too busy campaigning, golfing and going to the tanning bed to take the 10 minute trip down the hill to the Federal Courthouse. The GOP needs new leaders. If Boehner and McConnell had spines, there wouldn't be any need for a lawsuit. Congress would have never funded Obamacare in the first place.

Via Politico:
It takes about 10 minutes to walk from the Capitol to the federal courthouse just down the hill, but House Republicans haven’t managed to make that trip in the four months since they announced they’d be suing the president.
House Speaker John Boehner came out swinging hard last June when he announced that his chamber would take President Barack Obama to court. The suit, charging that the president grossly exceeded his constitutional authority by failing to implement portions of the Obamacare law, was billed as an election-season rallying point for aggrieved Republicans. But days before the midterms the House’s legal guns seem to have fallen silent.
Lawyers close to the process said they originally expected the legal challenge to be filed in September but now they don’t expect any action before the elections.

Scary: Speaker John Boehner promises industry groups action on immigration reform this year.

I trust Boehner and other Republican leaders about as far as I can throw them...
WASHINGTON—Speaker John Boehner and other senior House Republicans are telling donors and industry groups that they aim to pass immigration legislation this year, despite the reluctance of many Republicans to tackle the divisive issue before the November elections.
Many lawmakers and activists have assumed the issue was off the table in an election year. But Mr. Boehner said at a Las Vegas fundraiser last month he was "hellbent on getting this done this year," according to two people in the room.
A spokesman for Mr. Boehner didn't dispute the account but said no action is possible until President Barack Obama proves himself a trustworthy partner to Republicans.
Rep. Bob Goodlatte (R., Va.), chairman of the HouseJudiciary Committee, delivered an upbeat message about legislative prospects during a recent trip to Silicon Valley, said Carl Guardino, chief executive of the Silicon Valley Leadership Group, who hosted his visit.

When The Moment Is Right

FIRE JOHN BOEHNERhttp://www.jdwinteregg.com/
Over the course of 23 years, John Boehner has forgotten that his job was to go to D.C. to fight for you. Despite his campaign promises, as Speaker of the House he has failed to defund ObamaCare, failed to pass timely budgets, failed to protect us from amnesty for criminal illegal immigrants, and even raised the debt ceiling which leaves debt for our children and grandchildren to pay back and puts our national security at risk.
It's time for a change. It's time to fight back!

WTH? House republicans gave Caveman John Boehner a standing ovation?

For what? Being the worst negotiator in history? If you go into a car dealership and they won't negotiate the price of their vehicle, you don't sit there and keep making higher and higher offers until you hit their price. You have to be willing to give them your number, tell them to call you when they get serious and walk out. Harry Reid only cares about trying to keep his Majority Leader position after 2014, but there was no way Obama would have took a chance with going past the the debt ceiling. If the market turmoil caused a new recession, it would be the 'Obama recession,' not the 'Republican recession.' Personally, I think the potential reaction was way overblown. The stock markets didn't meltdown in fear. Actually, they went up during the shutdown.

Via NRO:
At the last GOP conference meeting of the two-week government shutdown, no lawmakers went to the microphones to give their take.
Instead, after Speaker John Boehner told Republicans they had “fought the good fight,” they all rose up to offer a standing ovation. “It was one of the easiest meetings we’ve ever had,” says Representative Mick Mulvaney of South Carolina.
“I think he has strengthened his position in leadership,” Representative John Fleming says about Boehner. “He hung in there with us. He’s been reluctant to go to these fights and now that we have stood up and fought for our values and he’s been there with us, leading, I think his stock has risen tremendously. He has great security as our leader and our speaker.”

Dingy Harry Reid feels sorry for John Boehner or something...

I feel sorry for the people of Nevada. They have to be represented by this loser...

Via TPM:
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-NV) said Tuesday he feels "sorry" for House Speaker John Boehner (R-OH) because of the conservative pushback he is facing on a raft of issues.

At his press conference, TPM asked Reid to respond to Boehner's suggestion that the House will demand tough border triggers before the process of normalizing the status of undocumented immigrants begins -- an idea the Senate broadly rejected.

"Speaker Boehner is trying to decide where he is. Pick an issue," he said, citing matters such as the farm bill, post office and the budget resolution. "He has dissension in his own ranks. We know that."

Republicans vote for the status quo: Re-elect Boehner as Speaker...

Will the Republican base vote with their feet and head for the door?

Via The Hill:
Rep. John Boehner (R-Ohio) was reelected Speaker of the House on Thursday after a week of rumors of a possible GOP revolt.

Boehner won a bare majority in a vote that saw nine Republicans vote for other GOP members, and several others who abstained from voting or voted "present." Two years ago, Boehner won all 241 available GOP votes.
In a vote that opened the 113th Congress, Boehner received 220 votes, compared to 192 for Rep. Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.), the minority leader. Fourteen members voted for other candidates or present. Boehner needed 218 votes to win reelection assuming a full roster of 435 members voted, but only 426 voted, so he only needed 214 votes.

How Obama played Boehner...

A good negotiator or poker player never shows his cards until the time is right. Speaker Boehner fails to grasp that point. Obama reportedly offered "nothing" for Boehner's upfront $800 million in revenue.

From behind the NYT's pay-wall via Power Line:
Mr. Obama repeatedly lost patience with the speaker as negotiations faltered. In an Oval Office meeting last week, he told Mr. Boehner that if the sides didn’t reach agreement, he would use his inaugural address and his State of the Union speech to tell the country the Republicans were at fault.

At one point, according to notes taken by a participant, Mr. Boehner told the president, “I put $800 billion [in tax revenue] on the table. What do I get for that?”

“You get nothing,” the president said. “I get that for free.”

House Speaker John A. Boehner caving on debt limit too?

It's really time for a new House Speaker...

Via WaPo:
House Speaker John A. Boehner has offered to push any fight over the federal debt limit off for a year, a concession that would deprive Republicans of leverage in the budget battle but is breathing new life into stalled talks over the year-end “fiscal cliff.”

The offer came Friday, according to people in both parties familiar with the talks, as part of the latest effort by Boehner (R-Ohio) to strike a deal with President Obama to replace more than $500 billion in painful deficit-reduction measures set to take effect in January.

With the national debt already bumping up against a $16.4 trillion cap set last year, Congress risks a government default unless it acts to raise the debt ceiling in the next few months. Some Republicans had argued that party leaders should use the threat of default to demand additional spending cuts from Obama.

Boehner’s offer signals that he expects a big deal with sufficient savings to meet his demand that any debt limit increase be paired dollar for dollar with spending cuts. That would permit him to keep a key vow to his party — and head off a potentially nasty debt-limit fight — at least until the end of next year.

“Our position has not changed,” Boehner spokesman Michael Steel said Sunday. “Any debt limit increase would require cuts and reforms of a greater amount.”

Speaker John Boehner offers millionaire tax increase in 'fiscal cliff' negotiation...

Cave? Via Politico:
Speaker John Boehner has proposed allowing tax rates to rise for the wealthiest Americans if President Barack Obama agrees to major entitlement cuts, according to several sources close to the talks. It is the first time Boehner has offered any boost in marginal tax rates for any income group, and it would represent a major concession for the Ohio Republican. Boehner suggested hiking the Bush-era tax rates for top wage earners, including those with annual incomes of $1 million or more annually, beginning Jan. 1, two sources said.

Fiscal Standoff...

There doesn't seem to be any movement from Boehner's and Obama's White House meeting. Time is quickly running out.

WASHINGTON (AP) - A year-end deadline approaching, negotiations to avoid an economy-rattling "fiscal cliff" appeared at a standstill Monday. Republicans pressed President Barack Obama to name specific spending cuts he will support, while the White House insisted the GOP agree explicitly to raise tax rates on upper incomes.

At a campaign-style event in Michigan, Obama warned his listeners their taxes will rise on Jan. 1 without action by the Congress. "That's a hit you can't afford to take," he declared.

He spoke one day after meeting privately at the White House with House Speaker John Boehner, whose office expressed frustration with the talks to date.

"We continue to wait for the president to identify the spending cuts he's willing to make as part of the 'balanced' approach he promised the American people,'" said a written statement from the Ohio Republican's office. Keep on reading...
