Judicial Watch files lawsuit for Obama's FBI records...

Popcorn anyone?

Via Washington Examiner:
A watchdog group on Thursday announced it was suing the federal government to obtain records on President Obama held by the Federal Bureau of Investigation.
The lawsuit from Judicial Watch, filed against the Justice Department in the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia, follows a 2011 Freedom of Information Act request in which the group sought information the bureau obtained from 2008 interviews with associates of former Illinois Gov. Rod Blagojevich. Those included meetings with Obama, his former chief of staff Rahm Emanuel, and senior White House adviser Valerie Jarrett.
Blagojevich was later convicted on 17 charges of public corruption related to an attempt to profit from filling the Senate seat left vacant when Obama was elected president. He is currently scheduled for release from prison in 2024.
The FBI has denied Judicial Watch’s request for information on multiple occasions, and says releasing what it learned from interviewing the president and his advisers could “reasonably be expected to interfere with enforcement proceedings.”
There are no enforcement proceedings related to the case known to be pending, leading critics to charge that the agency’s denial is politically motivated.

Obama spent millions of tax dollars to promote Obamacare to his key supporters

Screen capture of Obama paid Google ad from December of 2010.

The specific groups targeted were Hispanics, blacks, and women.

Via Judicial Watch:
Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, announced today that it obtained documents from the Obama Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) showing that the Obama White House helped coordinate a multimillion dollar taxpayer-funded campaign to use Internet search engines such as Google and Yahoo to drive web traffic to a government website promoting the Affordable Health Care Act (also known as Obamacare). The expressed purpose of this campaign is to increase public support for the president’s health care overhaul among key Obama campaign demographics, specifically Hispanics, blacks, and women.

The 2,328 pages of records, obtained by Judicial Watch pursuant to a March 23, 2011, Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit (Judicial Watch v. Department of Health and Human Services (No. 11-608)), include internal correspondence between officials at the HHS office of the Assistant Secretary for Public Affairs (ASPA), as well as communications with representatives from The Ogilvy Group, the public relations firm hired by the Obama administration to manage the Obamacare campaign.

Judicial Watch: Ted Kennedy was a brothel frequenting commie lover?

 Ted Kennedy Bobblehead

That shocking conclusion could be drawn from previously redacted FBI documents that Judicial Watch now has.

Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, announced today that it has obtained previously redacted material from the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI) file of the late Senator Edward “Ted” Kennedy, who died in August 2009 from brain cancer...
  • “While Kennedy was in Santiago he made arrangements to ‘rent’ a brothel for an entire night. Kennedy allegedly invited one of the Embassy chauffeurs to participate in the night’s activities.”
  • “[I]n each country Kennedy insisted on interviewing ‘the angry young men’ of the country. He wanted to meet with communists and others who had left-wing views. . . . Ambassador Freeman, Bogota, said the first person whom Kennedy wanted to meet was Lauchlin Currie.” (The document subsequently identifies Currie as a person who “had been mentioned in Washington investigations of Soviet spy rings.”)
  • “[I]n Mexico Kennedy asked Ambassador Mann that certain left-wingers be invited to the Embassy residence where interviews could be held. Mann took the strong position that he would not invite such people and stated that if any such interviews were to be conducted, all arrangements should be made by Kennedy himself.”

Shocker! Political Appointee Involved in Decision to Drop Black Panther Case!

Documents received by Judicial Watch contradict sworn testimony by Thomas Perez, Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division, May testimony. Perez testified no political appointees were involved in the decision to not pursue the Black Panther voter intimidation case.

Starting on page 78 of the Civil Rights Commission May 14, 2010 (Hearing on Voter Intimidation Investigation)

25 COMMISSIONER KIRSANOW: Was there any
1 political leadership involved in the decision not to
2 pursue this particular case any further than it was?
3 ASST. ATTY. GEN. PEREZ: No. The
4 decisions were made by Loretta King in consultation
5 with Steve Rosenbaum, who is the Acting Deputy
6 Assistant Attorney General.
(emphasis mine)
Here is the not so shocking truth. Democratic election lawyer Sam Hirsch was reportedly involved in the DOJ decision.

From Judicial Watch:
Judicial Watch, the public interest group that investigates and prosecutes government corruption, announced today that it has forced disclosure of the existence of documents from the Department of Justice (DOJ) indicating Democratic election lawyer Sam Hirsch was involved in the DOJ decision to dismiss its voting rights case against the New Black Panther Party for Self Defense.

The records, described in a Vaughn index produced pursuant to a Judicial Watch Freedom of Information Act (FOIA) lawsuit, contradict sworn testimony by Thomas Perez, Assistant Attorney General for the Civil Rights Division, who testified before the U.S. Civil Rights Commission that no political leadership was involved in the decision (Judicial Watch v. Department of Justice (No. 10-851)). (emphasis mine)

The “Vaughn index” describes documents responsive to the lawsuit currently being withheld in their entirety by the Justice Department. Read more here.
