Obama refuses to cancel Iranian diplomats invitations to embassy 4th of July party

Update. Obama caved today.

Both President Obama and his State Department spokesman have declined to cancel invitations for Iranian diplomats to attend July 4 celebrations at US embassies. On Monday, State Department spokesman Ian Kelly said,
"There's no thought to rescinding the invitations to Iranian diplomats," State Department spokesman Ian Kelly told reporters.

"We have made a strategic decision to engage on a number of fronts with Iran," Kelly said. "We tried many years of isolation, and we're pursuing a different path now." Link here.

During the White House Press conference Tuesday, Major Garrett asked President Obama if the invitation was still valid. Obama equivocated, but did not cancel the invitation. Garrett also asked Obama what took him so long to respond on Iran.

Meanwhile, the Iranian regime and Mullahs continue to slaughter their own citizens.

How anyone could enjoy a hot dog with the diplomats of a country doing this is beyond me.

Obama Invites Iran to July 4th Events

President Obama wants to invite Iran to our Embassies for 4th of July celebrations. Hopefully, they can resist from calling our friend and ally Israel racist during the celebrations.
YNet reported:
In a new overture to Iran, the Obama administration has authorized US embassies around the world to invite Iranian officials to Independence Day parties they host on or around July 4th.

A State Department cable sent to all US embassies and consulates late last week said that US diplomats could ask their Iranian counterparts to attend the festivities, which generally feature speeches about American values, fireworks, and, of course, hot dogs and hamburgers.

The notice, sent on Friday, said that the posts "may invite representatives from the government of Iran" to the events, a State Department official said Tuesday, quoting from the document. The official spoke on condition of anonymity to discuss an internal communication.

It was not immediately clear how many embassies and consulates would actually invite Iranian diplomats to the July 4 parties or whether any Iranians would accept the invitations.
