NSA’s phone collection program has no discernible impact on preventing acts of terrorism

Barack Obama hardest hit...

Via Hot Air
Consider this confirmation of an earlier analysis reported by the Washington Post and NBC in the pre-Christmas doldrums. Despite repeated claims by the White House that the NSA’s phone collection program may have prevented as many as 50 terrorist attacks against the US, another independent study found that the surveillance “has had no discernible impact on preventing acts of terrorism” (via the Daily Beast):
An analysis of 225 terrorism cases inside the United States since the Sept. 11, 2001, attacks has concluded that the bulk collection of phone records by the National Security Agency “has had no discernible impact on preventing acts of terrorism.”
In the majority of cases, traditional law enforcement and investigative methods provided the tip or evidence to initiate the case, according to the study by the New America Foundation, a Washington-based nonprofit group.
The study, to be released Monday, corroborates the findings of a White House-appointed review group, which said last month that the NSA counterterrorism program “was not essential to preventing attacks” and that much of the evidence it did turn up “could readily have been obtained in a timely manner using conventional [court] orders.” Keep on reading

Sad: The very nice Obamacare operator who talked to Sean Hannity gets fired...

This operator was an outstanding example of the kind of people we want working for government. She got fired. the person who made that decision should be fired, and tarred and feathered. Sean Hannity gave her a year's salary as a gift and promised to help her get a new job.

Rasmussen: 68 percent that Uncle Sam is listening in on their calls...

Change...

Via Washington Secrets:
The public has lost faith in President Obama, his administration and Congress in the wake of the internet and phone snooping scandal, breaking a trust bond that is likely to undermine the rest of his second term.
A new Rasmussen Reports poll found that just 30 percent of American voters trust the president and the rest of Washington on surveillance issues. A majority, 52 percent, said they don’t trust Washington is making sure the program is abiding by the Constitution.
And, Rasmussen said, they back that up with a belief by 68 percent that Uncle Sam is listening in on their calls.

Team Obama is spying on your phone calls...

What could possible go wrong?

Via Guardian:
The National Security Agency is currently collecting the telephone records of millions of US customers of Verizon, one of America’s largest telecoms providers, under a top secret court order issued in April.

The order, a copy of which has been obtained by the Guardian, requires Verizon on an “ongoing, daily basis” to give the NSA information on all telephone calls in its systems, both within the US and between the US and other countries.

The document shows for the first time that under the Obama administration the communication records of millions of US citizens are being collected indiscriminately and in bulk – regardless of whether they are suspected of any wrongdoing.

The secret Foreign Intelligence Surveillance Court (Fisa) granted the order to the FBI on April 25, giving the government unlimited authority to obtain the data for a specified three-month period ending on July 19.

Under the terms of the blanket order, the numbers of both parties on a call are handed over, as is location data, call duration, unique identifiers, and the time and duration of all calls. The contents of the conversation itself are not covered.

The disclosure is likely to reignite longstanding debates in the US over the proper extent of the government’s domestic spying powers.

Tired of paying for a cell phone? Go on welfare and get an 'Obama Phone'

Yes. The government is giving free or discounted cell phones to welfate recipients.
Did you know that the federal government is giving out free cell phones and free cell phone minutes to welfare recipients?  It may be hard to believe, but it is true.  Right now, there are companies that are running advertisements specifically targeted at low income Americans informing them of the fact that all they have to do is sign up and they can get a free cell phone and hundreds of free cell phone minutes every single month and it will all be paid for by the federal government.  Some have referred to this as "The Obama Phone", but that is not exactly accurate.  The outrageous federal programs that are paying for this were initiated before Barack Obama entered the White House.  But the fact that welfare recipients have been receiving free cell phones and free cell phone minutes under both the Bush and Obama administrations has been confirmed as being true by Snopes.  All of this is paid for by "the federal Universal Service Fund".  That is one of those annoying little taxes that you may have noticed on your phone bill.  So what is essentially happening is the federal government is taking money from all of us so that they can provide free cell phone service for welfare recipients every single month.

America's Worst Congressperson

Rep. Sheila Jackson-Lee (D-TX) answered her phone and had an extended conversation during her Town Hall. Not only is she rude, but she doesn't care enough about her constituents vies to even listen. When confronted with the video evidence of this rudeness, Rep. Sheila Jackson-Lee insinuated the video may have been doctored. Then, refused to discuss it. Rep. Jackson-Lee is rude, indifferent to her constituents views and apparently, thinks her constituents are complete idiots.

CNN's Rick Sanchez takes Jackson-Lee to task for rude phone behavior.

Rep. Jackson-Lee said,
“I'm so glad you said that. It appears on the video. Maybe it’s a doctored video.”
