RNC Chairman Michael Steele on Obamacare: "taxes are going to go up for the middle class because they have to"

RNC Chairman Michael Steele told CBS News’ Bob Schieffer on Face the Nation this Sunday, that “it’s just not believable” Obamacare won't raise taxes on the middle class. Steele, also, does a great job of defending the Republican position on health care reform.

From the video:
STEELE: The American people will walk away from this weekend’s series of interviews — I think, tomorrow night, with Letterman or whatever — and they’ll say to themselves, “So, what’s changed?”

And this is not, I think, very helpful to the president right now. He’s got to get the American people behind him. And when he says stuff like you he can do — you laid out the litany of things that, you know, he wants to get accomplished. And he says, yes, we can still do all of that.

Without raising taxes? Without creating the deficit — or increasing it? It’s just not believable.

And I think it may have nice to do the interviews, but I don’t think it advanced the debate on health care that much.

SCHIEFFER: So you think he is going to raise taxes?

STEELE: He has to. How else do you pay for it?

I mean, you know, all this cutting efficiencies — I mean, creating efficiencies and cutting costs within various programs — I mean, Washington’s been saying that for generations. I mean, that’s just not the business of government. It doesn’t do that.

And I don’t think that’s going to — particularly with something as mammoth as health care, that you’re going to be able to go on and create $1 trillion worth of savings in the health care system.

So those dollars have to come from some place. Whether you’re talking the Baucus bill; whether you’re talking the House bill, H.R. 3200, or whatever bill the administration finally settles on, taxes are going to go up for the middle class because they have to. That’s the only way you pay for this.

Media Matters: A President was killed the last time right-wing hatred ran wild like this

Since the "race card" doesn't seem to getting the traction the left wants, Eric Boehlert at left wing Media Matters plays the right-wing lunatic card.
A President was killed the last time right-wing hatred ran wild like this

September 18, 2009 9:10 am ET by Eric Boehlert

That being John F. Kennedy, who was gunned down in Dallas, of course.
I've been thinking a lot of Kennedy and Dallas as I've watched the increasingly violent rhetorical attacks on Obama be unfurled. As Americans yank their kids of class in order to save them from being exposed to the President of the United States who only wanted to urge them to excel in the classroom. And as unvarnished hate and name-calling passed for health care 'debate' this summer....

Wasn't Oswald a left-wing communist?

Obama wants to fight corruption as long as it is overseas

President Obama has taken a strong stand against corruption overseas. In a July 11th speech in Ghana, Obama exhorted Africans to rid themselves of corruption. Candidate Barack Obama had a lot to say about fighting corruption. Here is a screen shot of a foreign policy fact sheet from Barack Obama's Organizing for America website.

From Organizing for America:
Too often when we talk about corruption, we talk about it in the context of our assistance. When U.S. taxpayer money is involved, we absolutely must make sure that this money is not wasted or illicitly spent.

Americans might think President Obama would be concerned about corruption closer to home, even if it involves his friends at ACORN. That isn't true. In an interview on ABC’s This Week, Obama said this about the ACORN corruption scandal:
George, this is not the biggest issue facing the country. It’s not something I’m paying a lot of attention to.

Leading Global Warming Proponent Admits Earth is Cooling

One of the lead authors of the United Nations Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC), Prof. Mojib Latif of Germany's Leibniz Institute, has admitted the Earth is entering a one to two decade cooling period. You haven't seen this reported in the mainstream media because they are too interested in shilling for the global warming crowd. They don't want to report this "inconvenient truth." BBC blogger Tom Feilden brings it home in this excerpt.

The global warming narrative - that mankind's addiction to burning fossil fuels is rapidly changing the climate - may be about to go seriously off message.

Far from suggesting the planet will get warmer, one of the world's leading climate modellers says the latest data indicates we could be in for a significant period of steady temperatures and possibly even a little global cooling....

"The strong warming effect that we experienced during the last decades will be interrupted. Temperatures will be more or less steady for some years, and thereafter will pickup again and continue to warm".

With apologies to Al Gore, professor Latif's finding is something of an "inconvenient truth" for the global warming debate.

From Calgary Herald:

Yet last week in Geneva, at the UN's World Climate Conference--an annual gathering of the so-called "scientific consensus" on man-made climate change --Latif conceded the Earth has not warmed for nearly a decade and that we are likely entering "one or even two decades during which temperatures cool."

Blogs and Cable are Destroying Obamacare?

There is no doubt many people are very passionate about the direction President Obama is trying to take America. That passion is very evident in the health care debate. Obama said,
"what's different today is that the 24 hour news cycle and cable television and blogs and all this, they focus on the most extreme elements on both sides,"

Blog readers and cable news show watchers are the "most extreme elements" in America? I thought that was ACORN and the SEIU.

Watch CBS Videos Online

From the video:
"I think that what's driving passions right now is that Health Care has become a proxy for a broader set of issues about how much Government should be involved in our economy, even though we're having a passionate disagreement here, we can be civil to each other and we can try to express ourselves acknowledging that we're all patriots, we're all Americans and not assume the absolute worst in people's motives..

One last point I got to make Bob and that is I do think part of what's different today is that the 24 hour news cycle and cable television and blogs and all this, they focus on the most extreme elements on both sides, they can't get enough of conflict, it's cat nip to the media right now and the easiest way to get 15 minutes of fame, is to be rude to somebody."

Secret Service Shut Down Three Streets Thursday. State visit? No. Michelle Needed Organic Veggies

What do you do if you need some organic Asian pears and Tuscan kale for dinner? You have the Secret Service shut down three streets near the White House, bring out bomb-sniffing dogs and install magnetometers. Then, you hop into your armored limo for a one block ride to a fruit market. Well, that's what Michelle Obama did. It is good to be King. Well, it's good to be the King's wife.

The Secret Service and the D.C. police brought in three dozen vehicles and shut down H Street, Vermont Avenue, two lanes of I Street and an entrance to the McPherson Square Metro station. They swept the area, in front of the Department of Veterans Affairs, with bomb-sniffing dogs and installed magnetometers in the middle of the street, put up barricades to keep pedestrians out, and took positions with binoculars atop trucks. Though the produce stand was only a block or so from the White House, the first lady hopped into her armored limousine and pulled into the market amid the wail of sirens.
