Rasmusen: Obama is more extreme in voters minds than Romney

This one wasn't even close.

Via Rasmussen:
Most voters now see Mitt Romney as politically mainstream, but they're evenly divided over whether President Obama’s political views are mainstream or extreme.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of Likely U.S. Voters finds that 52% say it’s more accurate to describe the putative Republican nominee’s views as mainstream, while 30% regard them as extreme. Eighteen percent (18%) are undecided.

When it comes to the president's political views, 45% of voters say they're in the mainstream, but an identical 45% say it's more accurate to describe them as extreme. (To see survey question wording, click here.)

Obama accuses Republican Party of “lurch into extremes”

Obama thinks Republicans are extreme, but he launched his political career in Bill Ayers living room.
(Yahoo! News) — As political gridlock again threatens Washington with government shutdown, President Obama faulted Republicans’ election year “lurch into extremes” for keeping compromise out of reach.
“I do think those dynamics are making it more difficult to get things done,” Obama said. “And it’s not unusual, after such a severe economic crisis like this, for the politics to be impacted by that, for people to lurch into extremes, or to get more combative.”
The inability of Democrats and Republicans in Congress to compromise, fueled in part by pre-primary rhetoric on the campaign trail, is threatening for the third time this year to shut down the government this weekend if both sides can’t reach a deal on a spending bill and payroll tax cut extension.

Blogs and Cable are Destroying Obamacare?

There is no doubt many people are very passionate about the direction President Obama is trying to take America. That passion is very evident in the health care debate. Obama said,
"what's different today is that the 24 hour news cycle and cable television and blogs and all this, they focus on the most extreme elements on both sides,"

Blog readers and cable news show watchers are the "most extreme elements" in America? I thought that was ACORN and the SEIU.

Watch CBS Videos Online

From the video:
"I think that what's driving passions right now is that Health Care has become a proxy for a broader set of issues about how much Government should be involved in our economy, even though we're having a passionate disagreement here, we can be civil to each other and we can try to express ourselves acknowledging that we're all patriots, we're all Americans and not assume the absolute worst in people's motives..

One last point I got to make Bob and that is I do think part of what's different today is that the 24 hour news cycle and cable television and blogs and all this, they focus on the most extreme elements on both sides, they can't get enough of conflict, it's cat nip to the media right now and the easiest way to get 15 minutes of fame, is to be rude to somebody."
