Barack Obama is trying to be nice to fanatics in the hope they will kill us last

Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton are preparing to write a nice "make up" letter to Iran. They do not understand that the leaders of Iran are fanatics who want to kill us or forcibly convert us to their brand of Islam. They will see this letter as a sign of weakness and attempt to expand their power in the region. Former administrations would not talk to Iran unless there were preset conditions. The Obama administration does not seem to be that wise.

Obama team drafting letter to heal Iran rift: report

LONDON (Reuters) – Officials of U.S. President Barack Obama's administration are drafting a letter to Iran from the president aimed at unfreezing U.S.-Iranian relations and opening the way for face-to-face talks, Britain's Guardian newspaper reported on Thursday.

The U.S. State Department has been working on drafts of the letter since Obama was elected last November, the report said. It was a response to a letter of congratulations sent by Iranian President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad after Obama's poll victory.

The letter gives assurances that Washington does not want to overthrow the Iranian administration, but instead seeks changes in its behavior, the paper said. It would be addressed to the Iranian people and sent directly to Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, or released as an open letter.

In Washington, a State Department official said the policy on Iran was under review and declined to comment on whether a letter was possibly being prepared to send to the Iranians.

"No decision on any specific policy initiative has yet been decided by the State Department," said the official, who spoke on condition of anonymity.

The Guardian said the letter was being considered by Secretary of State Hillary Clinton as part of a review of U.S. policy on Iran. A decision on sending it was not expected until the review was complete.

Dear Intellectual redneck,
I am an Iranian atheist, who dresses, talks and thinks in "western" manners. My family, who resembles me, lives in Iran, and I have grown up through the hworst of Iran's "fanatic" periods in the 80s.

I assure you, that if Iranian fanatics are not killing "us" who are at their harms way; they will surely not kill you either!

It saddens me that you are under the influence of some ill informed propaganda; but I invite you to come back to neoresistance and explore the many facets of Iran and even its Islamic regime. My earlier posts of 2006 might be a good introductory course and help disambiguate some of your notions.

The Iranian leaders are NOT fanatics. I am no friend to them, but I can assure you that converting people to Islam is NOT on their agenda. Fanatics are the al Quaeda; not the Iranians.

If Iranians were interested in converting people to Isalm, they would not have been living in peace with the large Jewish, Christian, Zoroasterian and various factions of Islamic sects inside Iran.

"The Iranian leaders are NOT fanatics."

Iran's President Ahmadinejad speaking at the "World Without Zionism" conference said,

"Is it possible for us to witness a world without America and Zionism? But you had best know that this slogan and this goal are attainable, and surely can be achieved..."

He has the goal of a world without America? That makes him a fanatic and an enemy in my opinion.

Intellectual redneck-

I appreciate your comments on my blog Mostly Politics (http://bill84121.blogspot.com). I am going to research this new council and hopefully blog about it. In the meantime, I wondered if you could add me to your blog list. I think it makes sense to keep quasi-political blogs connected.

Hi Redneck ...

what you need to realize from a statement like a world "without" America is that "America" has been imposing a cultural and economic hegemony that has inspired many a resistance around the world.

It is not about America as a country; but America as a "bully".

In my opinion, the vision of America by Bush is very different from the vision of America by its founding fathers. If you read more, you will learn that "live and let live" is an important tenet of Persian philosophy in which they take historic pride.

Fanatics in the world cannot do anything if their masses are not intellectually and emotionally aligned behind them. Look at the revolution in America now. Isn't it exciting?

When Obama says that the fanatics of the world ARE NERVOUS, he is absolutely RIGHT. They are, because those fanatics have been feeding on the hateful image that America has been presenting: "an ignorant bully who knows nothing about the world, and rules it by no intelligence but plenty of guns.". Now you have an actual "INTELLIGENT" man at the helm of power; and he is acting in ways that it makes it VERY HARD for fanatics to use in favor of their hateful propaganda!

You mark my word and watch how Iranians are going to start changing their rhetoric. They have been only reacting so far. This is a real chance for peace ...

Ahem, yeah, right. Either that or our megalomaniac fake citizen foreign "President" is the greatest fanatic of them all as he thinks he's a "messiah" and God.

Ahmadinejab is more sane - and watching for Mahdi to rise and emerge.

Obama is "the one".

Obama is more nuts than Ahmadinejab - and if anyone thinks he's really naive or stupid rather than devious, calculating, and evil - moving to align himself as a Muslim with Iran... and moreover as the Mahdi Ahmadinejab is "prophesying" will emerge... then in my opinion they just don't understand Obama.

Let's not "give him credit" that he's naive, stupid, or "well-meaning". He's an evil, devious, sick monster betraying the USA to the Muslim world.

He killed infants born alive with no conscience.

He'll kill all those who voted against him, as well as the liberals who voted for him just the same way.

He's evil. And a Muslim. And people don't comprehend just what that means - but if you watch his feet, you'll learn what he's really like inside no matter what doublespeak the traitor states. His loyalty is to the Muslim world - NOT the USA - and he feels about us just the same way Ahmadinejab does - in reality, imo.

Good post, IR,
Keep up the good work.
Totally on board with your evaluation of Iran's leadership. While there are probably more people who just want to live an ordinary life, they are not calling the shots.
In the old days, we hung or shot people for giving comfort to the enemy. Someone who promised to destroy us, seems like an enemy to me.

"The Iranian leaders are NOT fanatics..."

That's what YOU say! I know that a large percentage of the Iranian people feel as you do. But by the same token, there are many Iranians who believe that their leaders are truly fanatics and these people live in fear for their lives every single day. To be a fanatic or not a fanatic is no big secret...just depends on what side of the fence you were indoctrinated...I was indoctrinated as a patriotic American, It's obvious you still have blood ties to Iran with a sense of Iranian patriotism. When you get around to thinking "western" realistically, you will shed those blood ties as our ancestors did. And when the time is right you too will state, "Iranian leaders are fanatics!" You have not only got to think western, you have to feel it in your bones every waking hour and dream of it in your sleep. Then when it becomes routine you won't even have to think about it, for then and only then, will American pride flow through those foreign veins.

What Iranians and others in the Islamic world don't like about the United States is that our government has meddled in their affairs. They don't like our unconditional support for Israel and detest the way our leaders attempt to bully around countries in the region.

Many in the Islamic world supported the United States when President Bush launched the mission into Afghanistan following the terrorist attacks. Iran was even one of the countries that was part of the coalition to oust the Taliban. Then Bush included Iran in his "Axis of Evil" speech, engendering antipathy toward our country. Even more in the Islamic world became inflamed because they interpreted the invasion of Iraq as the invasion and occupation of an innocent country that had done nothing to us. This is not an excuse but an explanation for as to why many Muslims see us the way they do.

What Iran really wants is for our country to leave them alone.

Perhaps what is most interesting about our relations with Iran is that we had no bad relations with them until almost 60 years ago. In 1953 our CIA helped coordinate the overthrow of Iran's democratic government in order to install the shah, who ruled Iran until their revolution deposed him in 1979.

I don't personally believe Iran is a threat to America. They have no army, navy, or air force, and as far as we know, no nuclear weapons. Ahmadinejad, who said he'd like a world without Israel or the United States, is merely a figurehead with no real power. He may consider himself an enemy to the United States, but he can make no quantifiable threats because he has no power and no ability to back them up. Plus, his biggest grievance is not that we exist as a country, but that we support Israel and interfere in their region of the world. Yes, it's bothersome when someone says they want to see you eliminated, but you can't march off to war or start bombing just because they don't like you. There has to be more than mere words to justify a war. It's frustrating, but that has to be dealt with in the real world.

If we want a chance to salvage ourselves in the Middle East, we have to understand how people there view us.
