DADT Survey Was a Fraud

The Pentagon (History Channel)
The study touted be the Pentagon as proof DADT could be repealed was a fraud. The study was done by email and only 28% responded. 54% of the responses came from Coast Guard members. The Coast Guard is a fine organization, but hardly representative of the other branches of the military.

(WND)- On page 36 of the 267-page Pentagon study, the report's authors note that they conducted a "service member survey" asking 103 questions online of 115,000 personnel – a got a 28 percent response rate overall based on an e-mail awareness campaign. The Pentagon acknowledges there that 54 percent of the survey respondents are Coast Guard members.
Another problem with the email survey is responses could be tied to individuals. I am sure they promised the survey results would be anonymous, but most military knew the answer Team Obama was wanting. Those oppose may have been afraid to respond.

It has begun: Officer asks to be relieved of command over DADT

The damage has begun. An Army lieutenant colonel has asked to be relieved of command because he is refusing to indoctrination his troops with a pro-homosexual agenda.
(WND)- President Obama's repeal of the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy is already damaging the U.S. military.

An Army lieutenant colonel has asked to be relieved of command rather than order his troops to go through pro-homosexual indoctrination following the repeal of the policy, which required homosexuals to keep silent about their sexual preference.

Propaganda Minister Robert Gibbs Claims DADT Repeal Will Strengthen National Security

I am not sure what the rationale is for Gibbs' claim DADT repeal will strengthen national security. Our military isn't having any trouble recruiting now. The challenge they face is retaining combat trained and experienced troops. 60% of combat troops oppose repeal of DADT. I can't see how this will help with retention in those units.

Liberal's Plan to Destroy the Military Advances

Liberals have long plotted to destroy our military. They have tried unsuccessfully to defund it for years. Having failed at that strategy, they are moving to destroy it from within by repealing DADT. The bill has already passed the House and, now, passed Cloture in the Senate. It will be on President Obama's desk sometime next week. Nearly 60% of combat troops oppose the change. After the combat experience and leadership opts out of reenlistment, our capability to win in Afghanistan or any other conflict is greatly diminished.

(NPR) — In a landmark vote for gay rights, the Senate on Saturday voted to advance legislation that would overturn the military ban on openly gay troops known as “Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell.”

The 63-33 test vote all but guarantees the legislation will pass the Senate, possibly by day’s end, and reach the president’s desk before the new year.

Many point to the fact Isreal has a good military and Israeli's allow openly gay soldiers to serve. This is true. However, Israel is a country the size of a postage stamp and many military go home at night. They don't normally face a year or more of deployment to the field in a country such as Iraq or Afghanistan.

Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) votes against DADT and apologizes for his vote

It sounds like newly elected Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) is in favor of DADT, but just not now. Could the fact he faces voters again in 2012 have anything to do with his sense of timing? Manchin won a special election to fill deceased Sen. Robert Byrd's seat.

(The Hill)- Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) appeared to take a stand on the repeal of “Don’t ask, don’t tell” Thursday, becoming the only Senate Democrat to vote against a procedural motion to move the measure forward.

But after the vote, Manchin blasted out a statement apologizing to anyone angered by his vote and said he believed the policy “probably should be repealed in the near future.”

While I believe the ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ policy will be repealed someday, and probably should be repealed in the near future, I do not support its repeal at this time,” Manchin said in the statement. “I truly understand that my position will anger those who believe repeal should happen now and for that I sincerely apologize.
