Cave: Demo Senators claim they never intended to vote on their Iran sanction bill...

Someones spine is missing. If anyone has a spare, send it to Sen. Joe Manchin.

Via The Hill:
Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) said on MSNBC Tuesday night that he didn’t endorse the bill so that it could be voted on during negotiations with Iran. “Give peace a chance,” he said.
"I did not sign it with the intention that it would ever be voted upon or used upon while we were negotiating," Manchin said. "I signed it because I wanted to make sure the president had a hammer, if he needed it and showed them how determined we were to do it and use it, if we had to." Sens. Robert Menendez (D-N.J.) and Mark Kirk (R-Ill.) authored the legislation late last year, after the United States announced with its allies they had reached an interim deal with Iran to curb its nuclear program. The six-month agreement took effect last week.
The sanctions bill, however, would add additional and tougher sanctions than those already in place.
In his State of the Union speech Tuesday night, Obama urged the bill’s 59 co-sponsors to reconsider their positions and to give diplomacy a chance.

Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) is unsure if he will vote for Obama this year

Democrats are avoiding President Obama like he has the plague. Senator Joe Manchin (D-WV) claims he hasn't decided to vote for Obama this year. Manchin saluted and voted for Obamacare when Harry Reid and Barack Obama called on him. He has no credibility and should be tossed for office this November.

The National Journal reported:
Sen. Joe Manchin, D-W.Va., who has done more than any other Democrat up for reelection this year to distance himself from President Obama, said he does not know if he will vote for Obama or presumptive GOP nominee Mitt Romney in November.
“I’ll look at the options,” Manchin said this week. The last three years “have made it pretty rough” for his state, he said.
That stance is at odds with almost every other Democrat who is up for reelection this year or is from a state that Romney is likely to win. And it’s an indication of the unique effort Manchin has made to establish his independence from Obama and other Democrats. The senator has regularly used floor speeches and closely watched votes to, as he puts it, “respectfully” highlight differences with Obama, especially on environmental issues. He said Obama has never called him or sought a one-on-one conversation.
Manchin said his own vote will depend on how his constituents view the contest.

Demo Sen. Manchin: Obama Has “Failed to Lead” On Budget (video)

Senator Manchin is correct when he said,
“Our President has failed to lead this debate or offer a serious proposal for spending and cuts that he would be willing to fight for.”
The reason is easy to understand. President Obama doesn't want to cut his liberal big-spending budget.

Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) votes against DADT and apologizes for his vote

It sounds like newly elected Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) is in favor of DADT, but just not now. Could the fact he faces voters again in 2012 have anything to do with his sense of timing? Manchin won a special election to fill deceased Sen. Robert Byrd's seat.

(The Hill)- Sen. Joe Manchin (D-W.Va.) appeared to take a stand on the repeal of “Don’t ask, don’t tell” Thursday, becoming the only Senate Democrat to vote against a procedural motion to move the measure forward.

But after the vote, Manchin blasted out a statement apologizing to anyone angered by his vote and said he believed the policy “probably should be repealed in the near future.”

While I believe the ‘Don’t Ask, Don’t Tell’ policy will be repealed someday, and probably should be repealed in the near future, I do not support its repeal at this time,” Manchin said in the statement. “I truly understand that my position will anger those who believe repeal should happen now and for that I sincerely apologize.
