Video of the Day: Ted Cruz Tells Trayvon's Mother Why Stand Your Ground Laws Can't Possibly Be 'Racist'

10/29/13 - Sybrina Fulton, the mother of Trayvon Martin, who was shot and killed by George Zimmerman in early 2012, appeared on Capitol Hill Tuesday for a hearing regarding the controversial "Stand Your Ground" laws. When it came time for Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX) to speak at the hearing, he informed the still-grieving mother that Stand Your Ground laws actually benefit African-Americans as much as, if not more than, they do whites.[...]
Cruz also cited the fact that "in 2004 a state senator in Illinois by the name of Barack Obama co-sponsored an expansion of Illinois' law providing civil immunity for those who use justifiable force to defend themselves" as evidence that similar laws could not possibly be racially biased. "The notion that stand your ground laws are some form of veiled racism may be a convenient political attack," he said, "but it is not borne out by the facts remotely."

Stupid: NAACP launches effort to pass "Trayvon Law"...

The image the jurors didn't get to see...

“Trayvon’s Law is a series of legislative policies that aims to end racial profiling, repeal stand your ground laws. Neither were a factor in the George Zimmerman trial...

Via Digital Journal:
The 2012 killing of Florida teenager Trayvon Martin has led to various rallies, boycotts, and even songs. Now, the NAACP is leading the way in an effort to force legal changes across the United States in an attempt to prevent another similar situation.
The NAACP created “Trayvon’s Law,” a series of legislative policies that aims to “end racial profiling, repeal stand your ground laws, form effective civil complaint review boards to provide oversight of police misconduct, improve training for community watch groups, mandate law enforcement to collect data on homicide cases involving non-whites, and address the school to prison pipeline,” NAACP President and CEO Benjamin Jealous explained in a statement according to AllHipHop.
“What happened to Trayvon Martin must never happen again,” Jealous said according to Jet Mag. “Trayvon’s Law will serve as the foundation for community advocates as they work to end laws and practices that contributed to his death and to create new policies that will prevent further tragedies.”

MSNBC is now ignoring the Trayvon Martin

The evidence isn't going their way...

Via Mediaite:
In March and April, MSNBC’s primetime hosts ran with nearly wall-to-wall coverage of the killing of Florida teen Trayvon Martin. They regularly suggested that the lack of national interest in the case was worthy of outrage. Last week, when an avalanche of new evidence favorable to George Zimmerman came to light, MSNBC’s primetime lineup didn’t just bury the story, they didn’t mention Martin or Zimmerman once the week that news broke according to media monitoring service TV Eyes.
On May 15, ABC’s World News broke new information that showed a more nuanced picture of how the altercation between Zimmerman and Martin unfolded. Their documents describe Zimmerman as having received “two black eyes” as well as a “broken nose.” They also outlined how Zimmerman was offered but refused hospitalization on the night of the incident.
MSNBC’s 8 p.m. anchor Ed Schultz led with the news that J.P. Morgan chairman Jamie Dimonwould retain his chairmanship. “The big bank casino is still open and Republicans want to keep it that way,” said Schultz.

Trayvon Martin had THC in his system the night George Zimmerman shot him

ABC News buried that detail in the last paragraph of the second page of a story on their website. Also, Trayvon Martin's father told police the man screaming for help on tape was not his son. We have previously learned George Zimmerman was severely beaten up. Why is he being prosecuted?

Via ABC News:
Two police reports written the night that George Zimmerman shot Trayvon Martin said that Zimmerman had a bloody face and nose, according to police reports made public today.

The reports also note that two witness accounts appear to back up Zimmerman's version of what happened when they describe a man on his back with another person wearing a hoodie straddling him and throwing punches.
It has been such a contentious case that even the evidence is being disputed.

The police report states that Trayvon Martin's father told an investigator after listening to 911 tapes that captured a man's voice frantically callling for help that it was not his son calling for help[...]

The teen, who lived in Miami, was in Sanford while serving a suspension for a bag of marijuana being discovered in his possession. Martin had THC, the drug found in marijuana, in his blood on the night of his death, according to the autopsy. His family told ABC News that it was "trace amounts" of THC.

Medical report : George Zimmerman got the crap beat out of him before he shot Trayvon Martin

George Zimmerman received a broken nose, a pair of black eyes, two lacerations to the back of his head and a minor back injury before he shot Trayvon Martin!
(ABC News) — A medical report compiled by the family physician of accused Trayvon Martin murderer George Zimmerman and obtained exclusively by ABC News found that Zimmerman was diagnosed with a “closed fracture” of his nose, a pair of black eyes, two lacerations to the back of his head and a minor back injury the day after he fatally shot Martin during an alleged altercation.

Zimmerman faces a second degree murder charge for the Feb. 26 shooting that left the unarmed 17-year-old high school junior dead. Zimmerman has claimed self defense in what he described as a life and death struggle that Martin initiated by accosting him, punching him in the face, then repeatedly bashing his head into the pavement. . . .

The morning after the shooting, on Feb. 27, Zimmerman sought treatment at the offices of a general physician at a family practice near Sanford, Fla. The doctor notes Zimmerman sought an appointment to get legal clearance to return to work.

The record shows that Zimmerman also suffered bruising in the upper lip and cheek and lower back pain. The two lacerations on the back of his head, one of them nearly an inch long, the other about a quarter-inch long, were first revealed in photos obtained exclusively by ABC News last month. . . .
In addition to his physical injuries, Zimmerman complained of stress and “occasional nausea when thinking about the violence.” But he was not diagnosed with a concussion. The doctor noted that it was “imperative” that Zimmerman “be seen with [sic] his psychologist for evaluation.”. . .

ABC News: White Hispanic George Zimmerman Charged With Second Degree Murder

Zimmerman has already been tried and convicted in the mainstream media. He turned himself in to prosecutors after charges were filed.

 Via ABC News:
George Zimmerman, the neighborhood watch captain who admits he shot unarmed Florida teenager Trayvon Martin, was charged with murder today and has been taken into custody.
The charge of second degree murder was brought by special prosecutor Angela Corey, according to the Associated Press. She is expected to announce the charges during a 6 p.m. news conference.
Zimmerman, 28, a white Hispanic neighborhood watch captain, shot and killed Martin, who was 17 and black, on Feb. 26 after following the teenager for several minutes.

In case you missed it, Al Sharpton stood up Trayvon Martin supporters yesterday

The Rev. Al Sharpton vowed to “occupy” Sanford over Easter weekend. Instead, Rev. Sharpton occupied Harlem.

Via Daily Caller:
On Easter Sunday the Rev. Al Sharpton, an MSNBC host, broke a major promise he made to those supporting him and the family of slain teenager Trayvon Martin: He didn’t show up in Sanford, Fla., to “occupy” the town.
On March 26 Sharpton vowed to “occupy” Sanford over Easter weekend to show support for Trayvon, the 17-year-old black teen who was shot by Hispanic neighborhood watch volunteer George Zimmerman on Feb. 26.
“We’re going to have a full blown occupation of Sanford with tents and everything over Easter weekend until [authorities] either arrest George Zimmerman, or arrest us for praying for his arrest,” Sharpton told ABC News about two weeks before Easter.
On Easter weekend, however, Sharpton is nowhere to be found in the central Florida town. Instead, according to his Twitter feed, he’s in Harlem.

“On my way to MSNBC to do the Melissa Harris Perry Show live at 11 15 AM EST,” Sharpton said in a tweet on Easter morning around 10:30 a.m. “Then I preach the Easter services at St. Lukes Baptist in Harlem.”

New Poll: Support for arresting George Zimmerman drops to 48%

Original images by mainstream media

What they actually looked like recently

The truth is the mainstream media did a high-tech lynching of George Zimmerman. None of them or us know if he should be arrested. We should let the authorities investigate and decide. The change in polling is undoubtedly a response to more information coming out. We now know more of Zimmerman's side of the story and we have learned Trayvon Martin was not the angelic faced little kid first portrayed in the images made viral by the mainstream media. Most people don't read much of a news article. The just read a couple of lines and look at the pictures. Even AP now admits the first images of Trayvon Martin and George Zimmerman were very deceptive.

The last few days have moved public opinion significantly in favor of George Zimmerman.
  • In CNN’s poll conducted last weekend, 73% of American adults thought that Zimmerman should be arrested.
  • Just a few days later, our poll conducted Tuesday and Wednesday revealed that just 48% of Americans believe he should be arrested. Our poll matched the partisan distribution of the CNN poll, so this is a real and significant change in opinion as more key details came out over a few brief days.

Trayvon Martin was reportedly suspended from school in October after being caught with women's jewelry and a flathead screwdriver

You mean all male high school students don't pack 12 pieces of women's' jewelry and a potential burglary tool? This incident occurred last October. At the time of his death, Trayvon Martin was on suspension for allegedly possessing a baggie with marijuana residue. He also had a very offensive twitter account. You can view his tweets here.
SANFORD — Miami Gardens teenager Trayvon Martin was suspended from school in October in an incident in which he was found in possession of women’s jewelry and a screwdriver that a schools security staffer described as a “burglary tool,” The Miami Herald has learned.

Trayvon, who claimed that an unnamed friend had given him the jewelry, was not disciplined because of the discovery, but was instead suspended for graffiti, according to a Miami-Dade Schools Police report obtained by The Miami Herald.

A lawyer for the dead teen’s family acknowledged Trayvon had been suspended for graffiti, but said the family knew nothing about the jewelry and the screwdriver, calling the information in the report an attempt to “demonize” the youth.

According to the report, on Oct. 21 staffers monitoring a security camera at Dr. Michael M. Krop Senior High School spotted Trayvon and two other students writing “W.T.F.,” an acronym for “What the f—,” on a hallway locker, according to schools police. The security employee, who knew Trayvon, confronted the teen and looked through his bag for the graffiti marker.

Trayvon’s backpack contained 12 pieces of jewelry, in addition to a watch and a large flathead screwdriver, according to the report, which described the screwdriver as a burglary tool.

Trayvon was asked if the jewelry, which was mostly women’s rings and earrings, belonged to his family or a girlfriend.

“Martin replied it’s not mine. A friend gave it to me,” according to the report. Trayvon declined to name the friend.
