Obama Thumbs His Nose At Veterans

VFW : Our First Century

For the first time ever, the President will not speak at the VFW convention or send a top their replacement. President Obama must realize he has already lost the military vote.
(Fox News) — The Veterans of Foreign Wars convention this week will not feature a top-tier official from the Obama administration, a breach in tradition that the group’s commander described as an “insult of the highest magnitude.”

However, an administration official claimed Monday that the White House made “every effort” to provide a speaker for the event, offering up a range of top officials.

“In all instances, the VFW declined those offers,” the official said.

The veterans group is accustomed to playing host to the nation’s most powerful people at its national conference. Obama addressed the VFW in 2009, followed by Vice President Biden in 2010.

But the 2-million strong VFW accused the administration of snubbing its members by not providing a “first-tier speaker” for the first time in VFW history.

“The VFW has had a long-standing tradition of inviting the sitting president to address our convention,” Richard Eubank, national commander of the organization, said in a statement, adding that the White House typically chooses a “high-level administration official” to speak if the president cannot attend.

VFW Moves to Dissolve Liberal Endorsing VFW PAC

The VFW PAC has endorsed many liberal anti-military candidates this year. The VFW told them to "stand down" and rescind their endorsements. They have failed to comply. Now, the Commander-in-Chief of the VFW is taking action to dissolve the VFW PAC.

Here is the letter via Black Five.
I have reviewed the Political Action Committee (PAC) Board of Directors’ response
to our request to rescind this year’ s Congressional endorsements. I disagree with their
assessment.

It is now evident to most of the VFW leadership, both National and especially the
departments, that the VFW has been subjected to extreme negative publicity throughout
the nation, and the recent endorsement decisions have, in fact, harmed the VFW’ s
reputation and future ability to fulfill our mission.

I cannot let this erosion of public support for our great organization continue. The
apparent lack of the committee to address these concerns will lead to a proposal by me,
as Commander-in-Chief, to amend the by-laws at the 112th National Convention for
the purpose of dissolving the PAC. Meanwhile, under the authority granted to me as
Commander-in-Chief in section 619 of the VFW National By-Laws and under section
620 of the Manual of Procedure, I am withdrawing all PAC appointments effective
October 15, 2010.

Accordingly, I’ m asking the council for a vote of “ no confidence” in the VFW PAC as
indicated on the enclosed ballot.

VFW Tells VFW PAC to Stand Down

Many Americans and VFW members have been appalled to learn the VFW PAC has endorsed anti-military candidates like Barbara Boxer, Nancy Pelosi, Barbara Lee, Steny Hoyer, John Dingell, Chuckie Schumer and Alan Grayson. They failed to endorse actual Veterans of Foreign Wars like patriot former Lieutenant Colonel Allen West. After getting heat from their membership, the VFW has asked the PAC to rescind their endorsement actions.
As determined in the VFW By-Laws, as the national officers, we have specific responsibilities to take definitive action when events can have a detrimental impact on the organization. It is clear to us that the current situation now demands direct action; therefore, we are requesting the chairman and the directors of the Political Action Committee immediately rescind their endorsement actions.

The PAC is independent of the VFW leadership and does not have to comply. Of course, the VFW can disband the PAC if they choose.
