This British poll taken by an independent group found the likely reason Trump's poll numbers are declining recently

In early June, the politically independent public policy research organization, Democracy Institute,  President Trump was ahead of former Vice President Joe Biden by 48 percent to 47 percent with 5 percent undecided. It was a poll of 1500 likely voters, cell and landline, that was done by an automated system randomizing the questions. They found equal numbers of Republicans and Democrats..As of April 2020, Gallup polling found that 31% of Americans identified as Democrats, 30% identified as Republican, and 36% as Independent. Of course the numbers could have changed in the last three weeks. The polling has. RCP has Biden with a +9.4 lead now.  Most of the news media and many pundits claim Trump's support is collapsing due to the rioting and looting making Americans feel less secure and driving them to Bide. That seems contra logical to me. Biden hasn't even spoken out against the rioters that I can find. Instead, he has supported protestors while mostly hiding in his basement.

So, what is another possible explanation? The British poll by the Democracy Institute has a strong candidate.

However, only 37 percent of Trump voters would want their friends and family to know how they had voted while 74 percent of Biden supporters are comfortable with it being known, suggesting there is a “silent vote” for the President.
President Trump's supporters have been driven underground by the relentless attacks from the press, liberals and Democrats, but I repeat myself. The Democracy institute poll didn't force those polled to talk to an actual human. This NBC/PBS/Marist Poll did and found Biden up by 8 points. The most recent (2 days ago) Hill-HarrisX poll, which is conducted online, found Biden only up by 4. The NY Times/Siena poll that found Biden up by 14 also uses live interviewers.

The data would seem to suggest the hidden Trump supporter part of the electorate has increased.

Poll: Trump powers ahead of Hillary

If Hillary has this much trouble beating Sanders, Trump will crush her.

Via The Hill:
Donald Trump edges out Hillary Clinton by 3 percentage points in a hypothetical general election match-up, according to a new Fox News poll.
Trump has 45 percent support, while Clinton trails with 42, putting just within the poll’s margin of error.
The presumptive GOP nominee is buoyed by his support among whites, leading Clinton 55 to 31 percent. That margin grows among whites without a college degree, 61 percent of whom favor Trump, while just 24 percent back Clinton.

Trump surging against Hillary among likely voters...

Change...

Donald Trump’s support has surged and he is now running nearly even with Democrat Hillary Clinton among likely U.S. voters, a dramatic turnaround since he became the Republican party’s presumptive presidential nominee, according to a Reuters/Ipsos poll released on Wednesday.
The results could signal a close fight between the two likely White House rivals as Americans make up their minds ahead of the Nov. 8 election to succeed Democratic President Barack Obama. As recently as last week, Clinton led Trump by around 13 points in the poll.

Meet Mr. 41%

Trumped...

Via Daily Mail:
Donald Trump is on course to run away with the Republican nomination for president, handily beating a pack of competitors by 27 points or more.
A Monmouth University poll released this afternoon shows him winning 41 percent of the vote to Ted Cruz’s 14 percent.
It’s the largest lead Trump has ever held in the race, and it comes as the candidates are making their way to Las Vegas, Nevada, for their final debate of year.
Nine candidates will face-off during the prime-time event, with Trump and Cruz at the center of it all.
If Trump’s dominance continues, it will set up a general election match-up between the New York-based real estate mogul and a former senator from the state, Hillary

Poll: 48 percent of Democrats want Joe Biden to run...

Contender...

Via Reuters:
The drumbeat for Joe Biden to jump into the 2016 presidential race is growing louder.
Almost half of the nation’s Democrats want the vice president to enter the field and challenge front-runner Hillary Clinton, according to a new Reuters/Ipsos poll.
The results come as speculation surrounding Biden’s intentions has intensified, with reports having him close to a decision. The declared Democratic presidential candidates, including Clinton and U.S. Senator Bernie Sanders of Vermont, her closest rival, will take the stage Tuesday night in Las Vegas for the first party debate.
Biden will not be there, but 48 percent of Democrats surveyed in the Reuters poll wish he were a candidate, compared with 30 percent who said he should stay out. Independents were split on the question, with 36 percent saying Biden should stay in and an equal share believing otherwise.

Rasmussen: Only 22% of GOP voters want McConnell to stay as Senate Majority Leader.

I am surprised the number is that high.

Via Rasmussen:
It looks like Republican voters are ready to clean house when it comes to the party's top two congressional leaders.
Following John Boehner’s sudden decision to step down as speaker of the House of Representatives, 46% of Likely Republican Voters think Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell also should resign. A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that just 22% of GOP voters don’t think the longtime Kentucky senator should step down as majority leader, but a sizable 32% are undecided. Unexpected: Trump's poll numbers are rising with Republican women...

This will drive liberals and feminists crazy.
Washington (CNN)For any other presidential candidate, making off-color — and arguably sexist — comments about a female competitor would likely result in an insurmountable problem with women voters.
Not so for Donald Trump. At least not yet.
A new CNN/ORC poll shows that Trump has increased his lead among Republican women, boosting his share to 33% of women voters, up from 20% a month ago.
The real estate tycoon has repeatedly defied the normal rules of politics, building his standing among almost every GOP demographic group and leaving his opponents scrambling for how to respond. Jeb Bush said that Trump couldn’t insult his way to the White House, yet Trump’s insult-heavy strategy appears to be working, as Bush sits at 9% in the polls.

Fox News Poll: Trump leading and steady, Carson and Cruz up...

Jeb Bush is the big loser...

Via Fox News:
Businessman Donald Trump still leads the field for the Republican nomination.  He gets 25 percent among GOP primary voters.  He was at 26 percent before the debate.  Trump’s support among women went from 24 percent two weeks ago to 21 percent now.  He mostly held steady among men (28 percent).
The real-estate mogul maintains his first-place status despite also being judged in the poll as having the worst debate performance and being considered the least likeable Republican candidate.  More on that later.
The August 6 Republican presidential debate was hosted by Fox News Channel in Cleveland.  Several of the exchanges at the debate remained in the news for days after.
Next in the GOP race is Carson, who garners 12 percent.  That’s up five percentage points since the debate and puts him in double-digits for the first time since mid-June.  Cruz captures 10 percent, up four points.
