Johnny Calderon, Gerald Allen, two Virginia teens get a beating when they attempt to rob college students Two suspected robbers fled the scene of their own crime looking like the victims of a brutal attack after their victims fought back. Johnny Calderon Jr., age 19, and Gerald Allen, age 18, attempted to rob two University of Virginia students at gunpoint, which turned out to be a horrible and painful error in judgment says police in Charlottesville, Virginia. Police arrived on the scene to find the two college students had beaten up and detained the suspects. Allen got the worst of the beating:his right eye was swollen shut and his face bloodied. Moreover, Calderon didn't get off easy and arrived at the police station with a black eye and plenty of bruises. Calderon has been charged with two counts of attempted robbery, one count of pointing a firearm and using a firearm in the commission of a felony, WVIR-TV reports.

San Jose Police and thieves agree: Robbery victims should meekly comply...

Is the San Jose Police getting a cut from criminals? I am beginning to think most towns would be well served to disband their police forces and arm their citizens...
In the meantime, the police are giving gun owners a piece of their mind. Albert Morales, the San Jose Police spokesman, said, "We don't recommend (drawing a gun or firing). We would have preferred that they just go ahead and comply with the request or demands of the robbers. Again they were after material items that could be replaced and again our biggest fear is that somebody would have gotten hurt, injured and possibly even died." You know who else would have preferred that the jewelry store owner had just complied? The thieves. Who would’ve thought that cops and robbers would ever be able to agree on something? Despite this, the police have not pressed charges against the gun owner – probably because all she did was exercise a perfectly legal Constitutional right. The police agree that it's OK to open fire, but they're just expressing how much they dislike it. That isn't a big deal, right? The problem is that when a statement like that comes from police, the subtle implication is that there’s something inherently immoral or illegal about using a gun in self-defense. It could give people the wrong impression about firearms -- whether that’s intentional or accidental is an entirely different debate.

Irony: Man Robs Congressional Candidate.

Congress has been robbing Americans for generations. Now, a man has turned the tables and robbed a Congressional candidate in Miami.
Bastien, 51, was sitting in her car with her sister, Tahira, outside the House of the Living God, 13700 NE 10th Ave., about 12:20 p.m. when a silver car -- possibly a Toyota -- pulled up behind them, according to North Miami Police.

A man in a white sleeveless shirt stepped out of the passenger's seat and walked toward the driver's side of Bastien's car. He pulled out a black, semiautomatic handgun and... Read more here.
