Unlikely: Charlie Rangel is worried about the future of the Republican Party or something...
Since when does Charlie Rangel give a rat's arse about Republicans?
Via NRO:
Charlie Rangel is just looking out for the Republican party in urging his House colleagues to support the immigration-reform bill.
“I would hate for them to see themselves just go out of business and we don’t have this competitive form of ideas in our great country,” the New York Democrat told Fox News this weekend. “It’s the right thing for the country, and it certainly is a right thing to make certain we have two parties competing against each other.”

Demo Charlie Rangel on Debt Talks: “What would Jesus do this weekend? Or Moses. Or Allah. Or anyone else,”
Or Allah?...
CNN – Veteran Democratic Rep. Charlie Rangel made an impassioned plea to religious leaders Friday, calling on them to lobby members of Congress and the Obama administration to remember the “lesser of my brothers and sisters” during this weekend’s debt negotiations.
“What would Jesus do this weekend? Or Moses. Or Allah. Or anyone else,” the New York congressman said at a press conference on Capitol Hill. “I don’t want this book (debt negotiations) closed without the clergy having an opportunity to forcefully express themselves as well as I know they can do.”

Rangel Prepares to Go Nuclear
House Ways & Means Committee Chairman Charlie Rangel (D-N.Y.) put aside his many tax problems and prepared H.R. 3200 for the nuclear option. Rangel held a hearing and certified H.R. 3200 has met all requirements to pass as a “budget reconciliation” measure.
House Ways & Means Committee Chairman Charlie Rangel (D-N.Y.) held a hearing this morning to certify that H.R. 3200 -- the main House Obamacare bill which was the subject of all the town hall rage in August -- has met all requirements to pass as a “budget reconciliation” measure.
Under reconciliation, the bill can be passed by a simple majority vote in the Senate -- just 51 votes -- and will be given preferential treatment on the House floor as well. The Dems have apparently invoked the “nuclear option” to shut out Republicans and ensure the bill is passed before the end of the year.
