Jonathan Gruber's insignificant Obamacare role included 20,000 pages of emails

But Pelosi didn't know who he was...
MIT economist Jonathan Gruber, who claimed the authors of ObamaCare took advantage of what he called the "stupidity of the American voter," played a much bigger role in the law's drafting than previously acknowledged, according to a published report.
The Wall Street Journal, citing 20,000 pages of emails sent by Gruber between January 2009 and March 2010, reported Sunday that Gruber was frequently consulted by staffers and advisers for both the White House and the Department of Health and Human Services (HHS) about the Affordable Care Act. Among the topics that Gruber discusses in the emails are media interviews, consultations with lawmakers, and even how to publicly describe his role.
The emails were released as the Supreme Court prepares to rule on the legality of federal health insurance exchange subsidies.

Guess which major newspaper passed on the Gruber bombshell video about the “stupidity of the American voter”

It was the New York Slimes!

Via Washington Examiner:
The New York Times had first shot in 2014 at the video of Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber mocking the “stupidity of the American voter,” but took a pass.
Though the Times eventually followed up on reports of the MIT economist’s now-infamous remarks on the passage of the Affordable Care Act, it did so only after they had generated a national scandal.
Times’ reporter Robert Pear was the “first real journalist” that tipster Rich Weinstein contacted with the newly unearthed footage, he told the Washington Examiner.
Weinstein met Pear at a conference in Washington, D.C., when he was trying to find a reporter who he could tip off to a separate Obamacare issue involving contracts between the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services and CGI Federal, the company that was brought on to build healthcare.gov.
“Nobody would listen to me,” Weinstein said, explaining that his earlier attempts to connect with media had been mostly unsuccessful. “So I was trying to contact journalists directly because I had this stuff.”

Tweet of the Day: Gruber gets thanked...

Grubering comes to Capitol Hill today...

Senate Democrats will release a torture ,report to keep Gruber's testimony from being the lead story.

Via Townhall:
MIT professor and Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber will testify on Capitol Hill Tuesday about his role in selling the 2010 healthcare law to “stupid American voters” through deception and non-transparency. The hearing will be held by the House Oversight Committee and Gruber will have to field questions from Chairman Darrell Issa and angry lawmakers about the legislation.
Gruber became infamous just a few weeks ago after a Philadelphia financial consultant and citizen blogger started pulling and publishing multiple video clips of him at various events discussing Obamacare. During those events, Gruber admitted the redistribution of wealth in the legislation was purposely covered up along with the fact that Obamacare is indeed a tax.

Mark your calender: December 9, 2014, Jonathan Gruber gets to tell Congress how stupid they are ...

Well, the Senate and House when Nancy Pelosi were stupid enough to believe Gruber's deceptions.

Via Townhall:
Over the past two weeks Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber has been seen on video repeatedly insulting the intelligence of the American voter and admitting the healthcare overhaul was written to deceive the public about costs, taxes and a redistribution of wealth of healthy to sick.
Today, Chairman of the House Oversight Committee Darrell Issa officially invited Gruber to testify on Capitol Hill.
"The Committee on Oversight and Government reform requests your testimony at a hearing on Tuesday, December 9, 2014, at 9:30 a.m. in room 2154 Rayburn House Office Building in Washington D.C.,"  Issa wrote in a letter to Gruber Friday, adding that he should be prepared to make a five minute opening statement before answering questions.
Gruber received nearly $6 million in taxpayer money at local and federal governments for work as a contractor on the healthcare law.

Flashback to 2009: Jonathan Gruber report to Congress claimed Americans would have lower premiums and out of pocket costs...

This report was a load of crap...

Via Politico:
A new analysis by a leading MIT economist provides new ammunition for Democrats as the Senate begins formally debating the historic health-reform bill being pushed by President Barack Obama.
The report concludes that under the Senate’s health-reform bill, Americans buying individual coverage will pay less than they do for today's typical individual market coverage, and would be protected from high out-of-pocket costs.
So Democrats will argue that under the Senate bill, Americans would pay less for more.
The new document arms Democrats with a response to the contention of Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) that the bill would mean “higher premiums, higher taxes, and massive cuts to Medicare.”

Can we get this guy a TV show?

Via Daily Caller:
A fourth video has emerged of Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber insulting the American people and revealing that the Obama administration misled those very American people in order to pass the law.
“Barack Obama’s not a stupid man, okay?” Gruber said in a college talk at Holy Cross in March 2010, making clear he thinks Obama is smarter than the American people, whom he has called “stupid.”
“He knew when he was running for president that quite frankly the American public doesn’t actually care that much about the uninsured,” Gruber said. “What the American public cares about is costs. And that’s why even though the bill that they made is 90% health insurance coverage and 10% about cost control, all you ever hear people talk about is cost control. How it’s going to lower the cost of health care, that’s all they talk about. Why? Because that’s what people want to hear about because a majority of American care about health care costs.”

The White House calls Jonathan Gruber a liar; claims #Obamacare is all about transparency...

“Transparency is a key goal of the ACA: consumers now have more access to information about their health insurance than ever before," White House spokesperson Jessica Santillo said in a statement to TPM.

U Penn pulls video of Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber talking about American voter stupidity?

Liberals in academia covering Obama's butt?

Via Daily Caller:
The Daily Caller’s Patrick Howley reported Sunday that Obamacare architect Jonathan Gruber had said at the University of Pennsylvania’s 24th Annual Health Economics Conference that it was a good thing that Americans never realized what was in the Affordable Care Act, because “the stupidity of the American voter” would have otherwise killed the law.
But for unexplained reasons, the University of Pennsylvania has pulled its video of the event, which took place in October of 2013. ”This video has been removed by the user,” a message now reads. “Sorry about that.” The video is still embedded on the conference page, but playing the video gives a similar error message.
One person who was angry to hear of the apparent cover-up was Bloomberg columnist Megan McArdle. “This is pretty shocking behavior by my alma mater,” she tweeted, “Why would @Penn pull down a public video that has political implications?”

Obamacare chief architect "Baghdad Bob" Jonathan Gruber loses all credibility...

Gruber is claiming he misspoke in the 2012 video where he claimed denying subsidies to states that don't set up their own exchanges was a feature of Obamacare, not a typo.  A second audio of him saying essentially the same thing at a different time has emerged. Gruber is now the Baghdad Bob of Obamacare...
Gruber told The New Republic [after the first video clip emerged] that he had made a mistake.
“I was speaking off-the-cuff. It was just a mistake. People make mistakes. Congress made a mistake drafting the law and I made a mistake talking about it,” Gruber told The New Republic’s Jonathan Cohn. “But there was never any intention to literally withhold money, to withhold tax credits, from the states that didn’t take that step. That’s clear in the intent of the law and if you talk to anybody who worked on the law. My subsequent statement was just a speak-o—you know, like a typo.”
A second recording has surfaced showing Gruber making similar statements about subsidies not being available on federally run exchanges. Asked over email whether those remarks were a mistake, too, Gruber wrote back, “same answer.”

ObamaCare architect claimed in 2012 state exchange only subsidies were a feature...

Here is the video of Jonathan Gruber explaining how the state exchange only subsidy feature of the ACA was designed to force states to set up exchanges in order to for their citizens to get credits.

Of course, being an Obamacare supporter causes people to lose touch with the truth. Here is Jonathan Gruber on MSNBC this week claiming the state exchange only subsidy was a typo or something. Can you say, "no credibility?"
