Joe Sestak Job Offer Scandal Returns From the Dead

Bill Clinton is walking back the claim he was the person who relayed the offer of a WH job to Rep. Joe Sestak if he dropped out of the democratic Senatorial primary against former RINO Arlen Specter. Democrats tried to kill this story n late-May. White House Counsel Robert Bauer released a memo claiming that former President Clinton made the job offer at the behest of the White House Chief of Staff.

From the Republican House Oversight Committee:

WBRE-TV has reported that former President Bill Clinton, who until yesterday has not spoken publicly on the controversy, denied any involvement in trying to maneuver Sestak out of the race:

Clinton denied it to EyeWitness news, saying he never tried to get Sestak out of the race and has never been accused of it.” (WBRE-TV, 8/10/10)

Sestak told a different story on May 28th:

Last summer, I received a phone call from President Clinton. During the course of the conversation, he expressed concern over my prospects if I were to enter the Democratic primary for U.S. Senate and the value of having me stay in the House of Representatives because of my military background. He said that White House Chief of Staff Rahm Emanuel had spoken with him about my being on a Presidential Board while remaining in the House of Representatives.

Rep. Joe Sestak Confirms Illegal WH Job Offer To Drop Out Of Race Against Arlen Specter

Rep. Joe Sestak again confirmed the White House illegally offered him a job if he would drop out of the Pennsylvania Democratic Senate primary race against Arlen Specter. The confirmation came in an interview on Sunday's NBC's "Meet the Press." Sestak is still refusing to say what job was offered, but many have speculated it was Secretary of the Navy. The video is embedded below.

Politico reported:
Rep. Joe Sestak, winner of the Pennsylvania Democratic Senate primary, is refusing to provide more information on what job he was offered by a White House official to drop of that race, although he confirmed again that the incident occurred...

"It's interesting. I was asked a question about something that happened months earlier, and I felt that I should answer it honestly, and that's all I had to say about it." Sestak said Sunday on NBC's "Meet the Press." "Anybody else has to decide on what they will say upon their role. That's their responsibility."

Yet Sestak confirmed to NBC's David Gregory that the incident did take place.
