Bernie Sanders wants to redistribute your money, but only donated 4% of AGI to charity in 2014

Cheapskate...

Via CNN:
Bernie and Jane Sanders earned nearly $206,000 in 2014 and paid about $28,000 in federal taxes, according to a tax return released by his campaign Friday night.
The return also shows that the couple earned nearly $46,000 in Social Security benefits.
Together, their total unadjusted gross earnings was $205,617. Most of the earnings came from Sanders’ $174,000 Senate salary, though Jane Sanders reported collecting $4,900 as a commissioner with the Texas Low Level Radioactive Waste Disposal Compact Commission.
The couple also reported donating $8,350 in gifts, though the seven-page return did not provide further detail.

Joe “My religion defines who I am” Biden doesn't tithe?

VP Joe Biden described the role of religion in his life at last year's VP debate.
Then Biden gave his answer. “My religion defines who I am,” he assured Americans. “And I've been a practicing Catholic my whole life.”
And it has particularly informed my social doctrine. Catholic social doctrine talks about taking care of those who — who can't take care of themselves, people who need help.

With regard to — with regard to abortion, I accept my church’s position on abortion as a — what we call de fide [dogmatic teaching]. Life begins at conception. That's the church's judgment. I accept it in my personal life.

But I refuse to impose it on equally devout Christians and Muslims and Jews and — I just refuse to impose that on others, unlike my friend here, the congressman.

I — I do not believe that — that we have a right to tell other people that women, they — they can’t control their body. It’s a decision between them and their doctor, in my view. And the Supreme Court — I’m not going to interfere with that.
Now we learn he has only give 1.87 percent of his income to charity.  Catholics are asked to tithe 10%.

Via Weekly Standard:
This year, Joe and Jill Biden increased their charitable donations from 1.5 percent of their income to 1.87 percent.
“The Vice President and Dr. Jill Biden also released their 2012 federal income tax returns, as well as state income tax returns for both Delaware and Virginia. The Bidens filed joint federal and combined Delaware income tax returns. Dr. Biden filed a separate non-resident tax return for the state of Virginia. Together, they reported adjusted gross income of $385,072. The Bidens paid $87,851 in total federal tax for 2012. They paid $13,531 in Delaware income tax and $3,593 in Virginia income tax. The Bidens contributed $7,190 to charity in 2012,” writes the White House, summarizing the Bidens’ income tax return.
That means the Bidens donated 1.87 percent of their income to charity.

Romney more generous than Obama and Biden combined...

Mitt Romney and Ann gave 29.4 percent to charity. Obama and Biden combined gave 23.3%. Joe Biden and his wife Jill gave a measly 1.5 percent of their income to charity in 2011.

Via Politico:
Republican presidential nominee Mitt Romney was far more generous to charities than President Barack Obama or Vice President Joe Biden last year, both in dollar terms and as a percentage of income, tax return data Romney’s campaign released Friday indicate.
Romney and his wife, Ann, gave 29.4 percent of their income to charity in 2011, donating $4,020,772 out of the $13,696,951 they took in.
Obama and first lady Michelle Obama gave 21.8 percent of their income to charitable organizations last year, donating $172,130 out of the $789,674 they made.
Biden and his wife, Jill, gave 1.5 percent of their income away in 2011, with charitable donations totaling $5,540 out of $379,035.
Republicans have mocked Obama and especially Biden for being unusually tight-fisted when it comes to making charitable gifts.
When the Obama campaign released past tax returns for Biden in 2008, it was revealed that the Bidens donated just $3,690 to charity over 10 years — an average of $369 a year.

Obvious: Red states more generous than blue states...

The eight states whose residents gave the highest share of their income voted Republican in 2008. The seven least generous supported Obama...

Via Politico:
Red states give more money to charity than blue states, according to a new study on Monday.
The eight states with residents who gave the highest share of their income to charity supported Sen. John McCain in 2008, while the seven states with the least generous residents went for President Barack Obama, the Chronicle of Philanthropy found in its new survey of tax data from the IRS for 2008.
The eight states whose residents gave the highest share of their income — Utah, Mississippi, Alabama, Tennessee, South Carolina, Idaho, Arkansas and Georgia — all backed McCain in 2008. Utah leads charitable giving, with 10.6 percent of income given.
And the least generous states — Wisconsin, Connecticut, Rhode Island, Massachusetts, Vermont, Maine and New Hampshire — were Obama supporters in the last presidential race. New Hampshire residents gave the least share of their income, the Chronicle stated, with 2.5 percent.

President Obama's odd charitable giving

President Obama gave very little to charity before he decided to enter national politics and run for President. Barack and Michelle only gave 0.4% to charity in 2002. President Obama claims to be a Christian, but he isn't putting his money where his mouth is. An examination of Barack and Michelle's 12 year charitable giving finds they gave less than less than a quarter of a percent to churches. The charitanble giving has really kicked up since Obama was elected President. Many of the charities they favor seem to be black oriented; CARE (Africa), United Negro College Fund and the Congressional Black Caucus. It's almost like there is something political about Obama's charity...
(The Christian Post) — An analysis of 12 years of tax returns recently released by President Barack Obama from 2000 to 2011 shows that the First Family donated 1.4 percent or less of their income to charity until he began to run for the U.S. Senate in 2004, and gave only nominal amounts to the church except for substantial donations to the Rev. Jeremiah Wright’s Trinity Church of Christ in 2006 and 2007.
The analysis performed by The Christian Post shows that from 2000 to 2011, the Obamas reported an Adjusted Gross Income (AGI) of $18,677,610, of which they paid $5,794,492, or 31 percent, in taxes. Almost this entire amount was taxed as ordinary income based on the particular bracket the Obamas fell into from year-to-year, as compared to the 15 percent tax rate on long-term investment income that many individuals who have significant investment income, such as GOP candidate Mitt Romney, pay.
Over the same 12-year period, President and Mrs. Obama gave $1.3 million to various charities, ranging from a low of $1,050, or .4 percent of their income in 2002, to $172,130, or 21.8 percent of their income in 2011. Overall, from 2000 to 2011, the Obamas gave 6.9 percent of their AGI to charity, and less than a quarter of a percent was reported as donated to churches.
A few of the charities that received substantial gifts from the Obamas include CARE, Habitat for Humanity, Fisher House, United Negro College Fund and the Congressional Black Caucus.
During the five year period from 2000 to 2004, the Obamas’ tax return did not list a breakdown of charitable contributions because the total amount was often less than 1 percent.

Presidential candidate Romney gave 14% to charity. Presidential candidate Obama gave 65

In the last two years Mitt Romney has given about 14% to charity. In the two years he was running for President Obama gave about 6%. In the four years before Obama became a candidate, he only gave 1%.

Via Beltway Confidential:
Mitt Romney’s 2010 tax return was released today, revealing made $2.98 million in charitable donations, out of his adjusted gross income of $21.6 million. That comes to about 14 percent of his adjusted gross income for the year.
Compare that to when Obama first ran for president in 2008. He released his 2006 tax return, which showed $60,307 in charitable donations out of an adjusted gross income of $983,826.
That comes to 6.1 percent of his gross adjusted income two years before he ran for president.
Obama is overwhelmingly generous compared to Vice President Joe Biden’s charitable donations in 2006.
According to Biden’s 2006 tax return, the couple gave $380 dollars to charity out of his $248,459 adjusted gross income; a percentage of 0.15.

Stephen King Bashes GOP Governors and Reagan for Not Giving Enough to Charity

Between 2000 and 2004, Barack and Michelle Obama gave less than one percent of their income to charity. Why didn't King bash them for being scrounges? Sorry folks, but Stephen King is now a moonbat.
After Mr. and Mrs. Obama released their tax returns, the press quickly noticed that, between 2000 and 2004, they gave less than one percent of their income to charity, far lower than the national average...

Stephen King claims people like him should be paying a 50% tax rate. Nothing is stopping him from paying more, except his own free will. The government will accept donations and apply the money towards the national debt. Strangely, donations towards the national debt are not tax deductible.
