It is illegal for campaigns to take donations from foreign donors. This can be easily prevented by asking for the three digit number on the back of the card. Mott Romney's site does this. Barack Obama's does not.

Karma: Obama re-election campaign admits they are in financial "trouble' like the rest of America
After three and a half years of Obama, even liberals and Hollywood can't scrape up much money to donate to Obama's re-election. Welcome to Obamanomics...
Via Yahoo News:
Via Yahoo News:
President Barack Obama's re-election campaign warned supporters in an email plea for cash on Monday that Mitt Romney's vast fundraising edge means "we're in trouble" with scarcely three months to go before Election Day.
"We got beat three months in a row," the campaign said in the unsigned message. "If we don't step it up, we're in trouble."
The appeal came hours after the two sides released their July fundraising totals, revealing that Romney and the Republican Party scooped up $101 million against the $75 million hauled in by Obama and the Democrats.

Hypocrisy: President Obama has taken nearly $120,000 in donations from Bain Capital employees
How does President Obama look himself in the mirror in the morning?
TPM:
TPM:
The Romney campaign is accusing President Obama of hypocrisy for accepting campaign contributions from Bain Capital employees while attacking the firm’s investments.
“President Obama has based his entire reelection campaign on a vicious, dishonest assault on Mitt Romney’s business career,” Romney spokeswoman Andrea Saul said in a statement. “The real question for President Obama is this: if Bain Capital is so bad, why have you taken nearly $120,000 in donations from them? President Obama’s actions are the height of hypocrisy.”

Presidential candidate Romney gave 14% to charity. Presidential candidate Obama gave 65
In the last two years Mitt Romney has given about 14% to charity. In the two years he was running for President Obama gave about 6%. In the four years before Obama became a candidate, he only gave 1%.
Via Beltway Confidential:
Via Beltway Confidential:
Mitt Romney’s 2010 tax return was released today, revealing made $2.98 million in charitable donations, out of his adjusted gross income of $21.6 million. That comes to about 14 percent of his adjusted gross income for the year.
Compare that to when Obama first ran for president in 2008. He released his 2006 tax return, which showed $60,307 in charitable donations out of an adjusted gross income of $983,826.
That comes to 6.1 percent of his gross adjusted income two years before he ran for president.
Obama is overwhelmingly generous compared to Vice President Joe Biden’s charitable donations in 2006.
According to Biden’s 2006 tax return, the couple gave $380 dollars to charity out of his $248,459 adjusted gross income; a percentage of 0.15.

Priceless: Former Sen. Chris Dodd is threatening to cut off President Obama's Hollywood donations unless he supports anti-piracy legislation
Former Sen. Chris Dodd is now the CEO of the Motion Picture Association of America and Hollywood's top lobbyist. Dodd has his panties in a wad because President Obama dropped his support for SOPA and PIPA.
(FOX News)- Hollywood's top lobbyist and former Sen. Chris Dodd is threatening to cut off campaign funds to President Obama's re-election effort because of anger over the White House appearing to side with tech companies in a bitter fight over anti-piracy legislation.
In an exclusive interview with Fox News, Dodd fired off a warning to Obama -- his former Senate Democratic colleague in this election year -- "don't take us for granted.""Candidly, those who count on quote 'Hollywood' for support need to understand that this industry is watching very carefully who's going to stand up for them when their job is at stake," Dodd told Fox News. "Don't ask me to write a check for you when you think your job is at risk and then don't pay any attention to me when my job is at stake."
Dodd, who became CEO of the Motion Picture Association of America after leaving the Senate in 2011, noted the movie "Avatar" was stolen by online pirates 21 million times. Such acts, he said, threaten to decimate his industry. Keep on reading...

President Obama's small donor army seems to have deserted
Losing that 'Hope and Change' feeling one donor at a time.
(NYT)- They were once among President Obama’s most loyal supporters and a potent symbol of his political brand: voters of moderate means who dug deep for the candidate and his message of hope and change, sending him $10 or $25 or $50 every few weeks or months.
But in recent months, the frustration and disillusionment that have dragged down Mr. Obama’s approval ratings have crept into the ranks of his vaunted small-donor army, underscoring the challenges he faces as he seeks to rekindle grass-roots enthusiasm for his re-election bid.
In interviews with dozens of low-dollar contributors in the past two weeks, some said they were unhappy with what they viewed as Mr. Obama’s overly conciliatory approach to Congressional Republicans. Others cited what they saw as a lack of passion in the president, or said the sour economy had drained both their enthusiasm and their pocketbooks...
Such defections are not merely symbolic. About a quarter of Mr. Obama’s record haul during the 2008 cycle came from donors giving $200 or less... Keep on reading...

Will Obama's Angry Base Close Their Wallets?

If this Survey USA/WaPo poll is any indication, they might. 74% of contributors to Obama’s presidential campaign are "deeply opposed" to President Obama's tax deal with Republicans.
The poll shows clearly that these contributors are deeply opposed (74%) to a deal with Republicans to extend the Bush-era tax breaks for those making over $250,000 a year. The depth of opposition to a deal is severe with former Obama contributors saying that they are less likely (57%) to support Democrats who support this deal in 2012.
A majority of the former Obama contributors surveyed also say that the President’s deal also makes them less likely (51%) to contribute to his reelection campaign in 2012.
Can you say "one termer?" Liberals are insanely angry.

Heartache: The Democrats are losing their donors

The only advantage Democrats have in this November's election is money. Incumbency is a formidable fund-raising tool. Voter sentiment has clearly switched to Republicans and the money is beginning to follow.
Major political action committees and employees of the nation's largest business empires have dramatically shifted their money to the right.
Schumer's DSCC has lost 25% of their donations this year, even though the midterm elections are coming up in November. Donations to Republicans are picking up.
"Employees of 126 businesses that had donated money to Senate Democrats in the 2008 campaign have switched all or most of their 2010 contributions to the Republicans, according to an analysis of Federal Election Commission reports by the Houston Chronicle," Stewart Powell and Yang Wang report.

Harry Reid: Republicans are “making love to Wall Street”
During the 2008 Presidential election, it was Barack Obama who was “making love to Wall Street.” Goldman Sachs and their employees donated $994,795 to Obama's campaign. Citigroup Inc chipped in another $701,290. JPMorgan Chase & Co and Morgan Stanley also made Obama's top 20 donation list.
The Hill reported:
From OpenSecrets.org:
The Hill reported:
Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) accused Republicans Wednesday of “making love to Wall Street.”
Reid charged that Republicans are stalling action on a Wall Street reform bill because “they are having difficulty determining how they’re going to continue making love to Wall Street” by resisting banking regulation.

Watch This Video Before You Jump To A Conclusion The SCOTUS Campaign Donation Decision Was Wrong
If you think the Supreme Court decision determining campaign donations are free speech was wrong, watch this video from the Cato Institute and learn what campaign finance reform is all about.
Fifty-seven percent (57%) of Americans Consider Campaign Donations to be a Protected Form of Free Speech

President Obama is on the wrong side of voters on campaign donations. Fifty-seven percent of Americans consider campaign donations to be a protected form of free speech. President Obama seems to disagree in spite of the fact his cronies are the biggest recipients.
Gallop reported:
PRINCETON, NJ -- Americans' broad views about corporate spending in elections generally accord with the Supreme Court's decision Thursday that abolished some decades-old restrictions on corporate political activity. Fifty-seven percent of Americans consider campaign donations to be a protected form of free speech, and 55% say corporate and union donations should be treated the same way under the law as donations from individuals are. At the same time, the majority think it is more important to limit campaign donations than to protect this free-speech right.
