Capped BP Oil Well May be Leaking in Wellbore

This could lead to the worst case scenario. Pressure tests indicate the wellbore structure may be compromised “down hole.” This means they may have to uncap it to take pressure off the well and prevent a total collapse of the well due to erosion. The possibility of this horrific scenario was explained in detail by an oil industry expert at The Oil Drum. It's a long post, but well worth your time. This expert claimed everything BP and the government were doing indicated they knew of a leak “down hole.” Although BP statements have hinted at this possibility, this information has not been widely reported. If the wellbore is destroyed, the entire 2 billion barrels (barrels not gallons) in this reserve are coming out into the gulf and there would be nothing anyone could do to stop it. So far, the oil expert's June 13th post is looking very credible. Let's hope he is wrong. However, AP is now reporting on this leak elsewhere in the wellbore and the possibility the well will have to be reopened.

"No one associated with this whole activity ... wants to see any more oil flow into the Gulf of Mexico," Doug Suttles, BP's chief operating officer, said Sunday. "Right now we don't have a target to return the well to flow."

An administration official familiar with the spill oversight, however, told The Associated Press that a seep and possible methane were found near the busted oil well. The official spoke on condition of anonymity Sunday because an announcement about the next steps had not been made yet.

The concern all along — since pressure readings on the cap weren't as high as expected — was a leak elsewhere in the wellbore, meaning the cap may have to be reopened to prevent the environmental disaster from becoming even worse and harder to fix.

Obama's oil spill panel is short on expertize and long on political hacks

President Obama has appointed a panel to investigate the BP Gulf oil spill. Instead of experts, he has loaded the panel with political hacks who already oppose offshore drilling. Only one member has any science or engineering background. Can anyone say "predetermined outcome"?

AP reported:
The panel appointed by President Barack Obama to investigate the Gulf of Mexico oil spill is short on technical expertise...

Only one of the seven commissioners, the dean of Harvard’s engineering and applied sciences school, has a prominent engineering background — but it’s in optics and physics....

After 57 Days, Obama Spends 20 minutes Talking To BP Officials

How did President Obama find the time in-between all those rounds of golf? After 57 days, President Obama had a 20 minute meeting with BP officials.
Obama was scheduled to spend 20 minutes in the meeting. He entered the room with an entourage: Homeland Security Secretary Janet Napolitano and her coordinator for claims oversight, Interior Secretary Ken Salazar, Energy Secretary Steven Chu, Commerce Secretary Gary Locke, Labor Secretary Hilda Solis, White House chief of staff Rahm Emanuel and senior adviser Valerie Jarrett.

Obama has an entourage? What an ego...

‘Major Part’ of Democrats’ Cap and Trade Bill ‘Essentially Written by BP’

That claim was made on the Senate floor yesterday by Senate Minority leader Mitch McConnell. McConnell also claimed Democrats are using the spill to “piggy back” the Kerry-Lieberman bill on future oil spill legislation.

CNS News reported:
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said that BP, the energy company responsible for the ongoing oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, helped craft the bill proposed by Sens. John Kerry (D-Mass.) and Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) that would tax businesses for carbon emissions and raise the cost of fuel for American consumers.

“The problem for Democrats is that debating the Democrat cap-and-trade bill might not fit neatly into the White House messaging plan since it’s been widely reported that a major part, a major part of the Kerry-Lieberman bill was essentially written by BP,” McConnell said on the Senate floor on Wednesday. “Let me say that again. A major part of the Kerry-Lieberman bill was written by BP. This is clearly an inconvenient fact.”

McConnell made his comments...

Rosie O’Donnell Calls For ‘Communism’ (audio)

During this rant, Rosie O'Donnell actually said:
"I say seize their assets. Right now. Seize their assets today. Take over the country. I don't care. Issue an executive order. Say BP, guess what, call it Socialism, call it Communism, call it whatever you want."
She probably meant to say "Take over the company," but accidentally spoke what she was really thinking.

Video: Obama Fails at Trying to Explain Why He Hasn't Talked to BP CEO Tony Hayward

Many people have been wondering why 40 days into the spill, President Obama hasn't talked to the CEO of the company he claims is responsible for the spill and clean up. President Obama is unable to give Today Show host Matt Lauer a good reason as to why he hasn't talked to BP CEO Tony Hayward about the spill and clean up. When pressed by Lauer, Obama said:
"Look, I would love to vent. I would love to shout and holler because I am thinking about this day in and day out."

I thought President Obama was looking for some "A$$ to kick" in-between his many vacations. Hmm... Perhaps Obama is afraid BP CEO Hayward will ask for a campaign donation refund.

Rahm Emanuel Lived Free For 5 Years In Close BP Associate Apartment

Apartments in Washington aren't free. How do you get someone to let you live in one for five years for free? Freeloading Rahm Emanuel figured out hoe to do it. The apartment Was owned by Stanley Greenberg, a close associate of BP. Greenberg's firm was a prime architect of BP’s recent re-branding drive as a green petroleum company.

The LA Times reported:
In case you were tempted to buy the faux Washington outrage at BP and its gulf oil spill in recent days, here’s a story that reveals a little-known corporate political connection and the quiet way the inner political circles intersect, protect and care for one another in the nation’s capital. And Chicago.

We already knew that BP and its folks were significant contributors to the record $750-million war chest of Barack Obama’s 2007-08 campaign.

Now, we learn the details of a connection of Rahm Emanuel...

Why Hasn't President Obama Spoken To BP CEO Tony Hayward?

President Obama has told BP they are responsible for the clean up and expenses of the gulf oil spill, but he has yet to meet with the companies CEO. Why is President Obama taking such a 'hands off' management style approach to America's biggest man-made environmental disaster? Perhaps it is because he was the top recipient of BP's campaign contributions in 2008 and, then, promised to "keep our boot on the neck of British Petroleum." How do you meet face-to-face with someone after that kind of betrayal?

Shameful! BP Buys Oil Spill Search Words ON Google And Yahoo To Redirect People To Their Site!

In a shameful attempt to spin the Gulf oil spill, BP has admitted they bought search the term 'oil spill' on Google and Yahoo. Instead of real news about the spill, people who click the link at the top of the search result page are directed to a BP site.

Examiner reported:
In their most tenacious effort to control the ‘spin’ on the worst oil spill disaster in the history, BP has purchased top internet search engine words so they can re-direct people away from real news on the Deepwater Horizon catastrophe.

BP spokesman Toby Odone confirmed to ABC News that the oil giant had in fact bought internet search terms. So now when someone searches the words ‘oil spill’, on the internet, the top link will re-direct them to BP’s official company website.

This would not be the first time that BP has tried to control information to protect the company’s public image...

Hope and Change Becomes "What Now?" For Gulf BP Oil Spill Victims

The Obama Hopey-Changey spell has worn off for some Gulf residents suffering from the oil spill. The words Hope and Change have been replace on Obama's head with "What Now?"

AP reported:
The widening scope of the disaster deepened the anger and despair just as Obama arrived for his third visit to the stricken Gulf Coast.

On Obama's trip to the Grand Isle on the Louisiana coast, his motorcade passed a building that had been adorned with his portrait reminiscent of posters of him during his presidential campaign. Instead of "hope" or "change," the words "what now?" were on his forehead.

Here is the "What Now?" picture.

Meanwhile, they are warning people not to pick up tar balls at Pensacola beach.

Time magazine columnist Joe Klein: "This is more Bush’s second Katrina than Obama’s first."

In a continuing shameful attempt to divert any blame for the BP oil spill mess from President Obama, Time magazine's Joe Klein joins the liberal attempt to blame Bush.

NewsBusters reported:

Below is a transcript of relevant portions of the Sunday, May 30, syndicated Chris Matthews Show:
JOE KLEIN, TIME MAGAZINE: This is more Bush’s second Katrina than Obama’s first.

CHRIS MATTHEWS: I agree, if you go to the management issue.

BP Knew Blowout Preventer Had Safety Issues Eleven Months Before Accident

The blowout preventer and well casing was considered to be substandard quality and at risk of damage under high pressure. BP gave "special permission" for it to be installed. That has proven to be a multi-billion dollar mistake.

The NYT reported:
The documents show that in March, after several weeks of problems on the rig, BP was struggling with a loss of “well control.” And as far back as 11 months ago, it was concerned about the well casing and the blowout preventer.

On June 22, for example, BP engineers expressed concerns that the metal casing the company wanted to use might collapse under high pressure....

Though his report indicates that the company was aware of certain risks and that it made the exception, Mr. Hafle, testifying before a panel on Friday in Louisiana about the cause of the rig disaster, rejected the notion that the company had taken risks.

Obama goes to Gulf, examines tar ball and heads out on vacation.

President Obama promised the residents of the Gulf Coast they wouldn't face this crisis alone.
"I'm here to tell you that you are not alone," he said. "You will not be abandoned, and you will not be left behind."

Then, he promptly left them alone and went to Chicago on vacation.

BP has received much well deserved criticism for this spill, so they bused in 400 temporary workers to "spruce" the place up for Obama's visit. Click the image below to watch a video at Real Clear Politics.

Robert Gibbs Scolded Reporters In Private Meeting For Asking Too Many BP Questions

The Minister of Disinformation, Robert Gibbs, called reporters to a private meeting and scolded them for asking too many questions about the BP oil spill. The administration is trying to duck any responsibility for the spill. They are terrified this will become Obama's Katrina. The mainstream media normally plats along with the administrations deceptions. It is unclear if they can continue to do that with something of this magnitude.

The Gulf Oil Spill is BP's Dick Cheney's Fault

Blaming big oil wasn't good enough for the left. They need a personal face to put on the environmental disaster in the Gulf of Mexico. President Obama's slow response should have earned him that honor, but he is on the left's team and they don't want to demonize "their guy." Fortunately, they have found someone they want to blame. It's Dick Cheney!
