Obama “not even close” to having lived up to the “Hope” poster.

Via Politico:
Shepard Fairey, the street artist behind the famous “Hope” poster that went viral during Barack Obama’s historic 2008 presidential run, said that the president has not lived up to his expectations.
In an interview with Esquire, Fairey acknowledged that “Obama has had a really tough time” but said he’s “not even close” to having lived up to the “Hope” poster created for him.
“I mean, drones and domestic spying are the last things I would have thought [he’d support],” Fairey added in the interview, posted Thursday.

Even the Poor Are Losing That Hopey-Changey Feeling

Obama's numbers with the demographics that elected him must scare his reelection team to death.
(CNS News) - Over the last seven weeks, Obama’s approval rating has dropped 11 percentage points among the poorest Americans — and 14 points among middle-class Americans earning between $5,000 and $7,499.

Among the poorest Americans, the president’s approval started at 54 percent in the week of June 13–19 and dropped to a record low of 43 percent last week (July 25–July 31). Over the same period, Obama’s approval dropped from 52 percent to a record low of 38 percent among those middle-class Americans earning between $5,000 and $7,499 per month.

Woman sells hopey-changey Obama letter to avoid eviction

The Daily Mail has a great piece about Destiny Mathis. She has been a big Obama supporter, but is losing hope.
She said: 'I campaigned for him hard. I got the shirts made, the Barack the Vote shirts made. We've done a lot.'

It was about half way into the President's term that things took a downward spiral for her.

Her third baby was born prematurely with health problems and with limited daycare options she could no longer work.

Her partner also left around this time.

With nowhere else to turn, she decided to write the President a letter.

She told the Huffington Post: 'I wrote him just expressing my concern about what's going to happen in the next two years. I know he's under a lot of stress, but I need to see more results.'

She told him she was optimistic for change when she campaigned for him and that now she feels her future is bleak and unpromising.

Gene Simmons Loses That Hopey-Changey Feeling

Gene Simmons admits he voted for Barack Obama, but he takes a sharp tongue to him in this video.
...he’s completely unqualified to be there. He’s never run a company, he’s been in local politics for two years...
Simmons is Jewish and also has harsh words about Obama's declaration Israel should return to the indefensible 1967 borders.

Are Blacks and Hispanics losing that hopey-changey feeling?

SO how's that HOPEY CHANGEY thing working out for ya funny decal / sticker

Support for President Obama among Blacks and Hispanics has hit a new low.
(LA Times)- Once monolithic, blacks’ support for the first African American president is still. . . . immense. But for unclear reasons it’s declined about 7% from well above 90% to 85% in March. That’s a new low since Obama’s inauguration 26 months ago.

Equally ominous for Obama in 2012, his approval among Hispanics, the nation’s fastest-growing demographic, has also fallen to again tie his term low of 54%. That’s a drop of 11 points from its early high of 65%.

Demo Senator Mary Landrieu Loses The Hopey-Changey Feeling

Democratic Senator Mary Landrieu joined the hopey-changey team for for the vote on health care reform. Of course, it took the "Louisiana Purchase" to get her on-board. Now, President Obama has shown his appreciation in his usual fashion. He is throwing Senator Mary Landrieu under the bus now that he no longer needs her. After having a judge strike down his last offshore drilling moratorium, President Obama has had his Department of the Interior issue an even more severe ban. Senator Landrieu has become concerned about the hopey-changy teams anti-oil stance and lack of concern for Gulf Coast jobs.
“About an hour ago, Secretary Salazar announced ‘new deepwater drilling suspensions.’ Unfortunately, this new plan does not address many of the concerns expressed by the experts, the court system, and families and businesses along the Gulf Coast.

“I am particularly alarmed by the Department of the Interior’s continued insistence that allowing deepwater drilling to move forward ‘would pose a threat of serious, irreparable, or immediate harm or damage to the marine, coastal, and human environment.’ That claim contradicts testimony given by drilling experts and ignores the history of oil and gas operations in the Gulf.

“If this Commission and our nation are to learn the right lessons from the Deepwater Horizon tragedy, we must put this accident into perspective. According to the U.S. Department of the Interior, more than 42,000 wells have been drilled in the Gulf from 1947 to 2009, producing 16.5 billion barrels of oil. It is important to note that in the last 10 years, non-hurricane related spills only totaled about 7,000 barrels. Right now, this rouge well in the Gulf is gushing an entire decades’ worth of oil spills every six hours. While more effective regulations and greater transparency are a must, the record is clear that the Deepwater Horizon accident is the exception rather than the rule.

“As residents of this working coast, we want – as much as anyone – for this drilling to be safe for our people and our environment. But we also know full well what a prolonged suspension of deepwater drilling until November 30th will mean for hundreds of oil service companies, other small businesses, and families across the region. In today’s announcement, the Administration has left the door open to resume drilling operations sooner, but Gulf Coast businesses and investors still lack the certainty they need to move forward with future plans.

“Whether you call it a moratorium, a suspension, or a pause, the result will still be a substantial loss of jobs. Even the revised moratorium will force thousands of hard-working Louisianians and others along the Gulf Coast into the unemployment lines.

“I strongly urge this Commission to take the quick and decisive action to recommend immediately lifting the moratorium to save our businesses, our economy and our way of life.

“Secretary Salazar’s announcement today seems to indicate the new suspensions require the collection and analysis of key evidence before deepwater drilling can start again. The work of your Commission will be a critical element of that process, which means the Commission must complete its work in a more expedited manner.

“We know what these suspensions will do to Gulf Coast families and to our economy. Yet, it seems that the Administration has ignored this data and failed to conduct its own economic analysis.

Hope and Change Becomes "What Now?" For Gulf BP Oil Spill Victims

The Obama Hopey-Changey spell has worn off for some Gulf residents suffering from the oil spill. The words Hope and Change have been replace on Obama's head with "What Now?"

AP reported:
The widening scope of the disaster deepened the anger and despair just as Obama arrived for his third visit to the stricken Gulf Coast.

On Obama's trip to the Grand Isle on the Louisiana coast, his motorcade passed a building that had been adorned with his portrait reminiscent of posters of him during his presidential campaign. Instead of "hope" or "change," the words "what now?" were on his forehead.

Here is the "What Now?" picture.

Meanwhile, they are warning people not to pick up tar balls at Pensacola beach.

One in Four Union Members to be Hit With Health Insurance Tax

The Senate version of health care reform contains a tax on high end health insurance plans. A union survey indicates one in four union members will pay this tax.
Labor leaders say the tax would hit not only wealthy executives with expensive health benefits, but also many rank-and-file union members who have often settled for lower wage increases in exchange for more generous health benefits.

The tax would affect individual insurance policies with annual premiums above $8,500 and family policies above $23,000, which by one union survey would affect one in four union members.

Unions urged their members to vote for Barack Obama. One key point they hammered on was John McCain's proposal to tax health insurance benefits. McCain was proposing a tax credit to offset this tax for most people. President Obama campaigned again this proposal. He called it a middle-class tax increase. Here is the hard hitting video ad Obama ran against McCain's proposal to tax health insurance benefits.

President Obama has endorsed the Senate democrats' version of health insurance reform with the tax on the middle-class' benefits.
President Barack Obama signaled to House Democratic leaders Wednesday that they'll have to drop their opposition to taxing high-end health insurance plans to pay for health coverage for millions of uninsured Americans.

It is ironic that Barack Obama's broken pledge to not raise taxes on the middle-class is going to affect his Union supporters the most. Let's see the video of that promise one more time.

Hey union members! How is that hopey-changey thing working out for you now?

If President Obama were up for re-election today, only 45% of adults would vote for him

If the Presidential election were held today, Republicans would stand a good chance of defeating Obama. According to Rasmussen, only 45% of adults would vote for him today. Hopey-changey doesn't look as good as it did a year ago.

From Rasmussen:
Americans are a little less enthusiastic about the presidential candidacy of Barack Obama this time around.

A new Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey finds that 45% of adults say they would be at least somewhat likely to vote for Obama if he was up for reelection right now. Forty-nine percent (49%) say they would be unlikely to vote for the president’s reelection.
