Unlikely: Harry Reid claims Mitch McConnell, ”tried to make love to the tea party and they didn’t like it,”

I would hate to think what Harry Reid has tried to make love too...

Interesting: Senators McConnell and Paul team up to bring grass back to the Bluegrass State...

The grass they want to bring back is industrial hemp, but somewhere Gatewood Galbraith is smiling. Gatewood was a colorful perennial Kentucky candidate for Governor who ran primarily on the issue of marijuana legalization.

Via MSNBC:
Mitch McConnell and Rand Paul have teamed up in an unlikely duo to high-five plans to legalize it–hemp, that is.

The Senate minority leader cosponsored a bill with two Oregon senators Thursday to federally legalize hemp, a variety of the plant species that also produces marijuana. If passed, the bill will downgrade the virtually-harmless hemp from its current federal standing as a Schedule I illegal drug, the FDA’s most severe classification (other Schedule I drugs include heroin and LSD).

“During these tough economic times, this legislation has the potential to create jobs and provide a boost to Kentucky’s economy and to our farmers and their families,” McConnell said in a statement Thursday.

Mitch McConnell: Most important thing is "for President Obama to be a one-term president"

Mitch McConnell is starting to make sense. This November's election is part of a two step process to take our country back from the left-wing, big government, big spending liberal socialist partnership of Barack Obama, Harry Reid and Nancy Pelosi. We will retake the House this year and the Senate (unless it happens this year) and White House in 2012.
MCCONNELL: We need to be honest with the public. This election is about them, not us. And we need to treat this election as the first step in retaking the government. We need to say to everyone on Election Day, “Those of you who helped make this a good day, you need to go out and help us finish the job.”

NATIONAL JOURNAL: What’s the job?

MCCONNELL: The single most important thing we want to achieve is for President Obama to be a one-term president.

Video: Chris Matthews accuses Mitch McConnell of playing "Birther politics."

Tingles has gone completely insane. He accused Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell of playing "Birther politics" and accused Republicans of trying to "de-Americanize the President." What set him off on this rant? He took offense to McConnell saying "I take him at his word" in response to President Obama's claim he is a christian.

Note to Tingles: It is President Obama who is de-Americanizing Obama in the eyes of the American people.

‘Major Part’ of Democrats’ Cap and Trade Bill ‘Essentially Written by BP’

That claim was made on the Senate floor yesterday by Senate Minority leader Mitch McConnell. McConnell also claimed Democrats are using the spill to “piggy back” the Kerry-Lieberman bill on future oil spill legislation.

CNS News reported:
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said that BP, the energy company responsible for the ongoing oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, helped craft the bill proposed by Sens. John Kerry (D-Mass.) and Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) that would tax businesses for carbon emissions and raise the cost of fuel for American consumers.

“The problem for Democrats is that debating the Democrat cap-and-trade bill might not fit neatly into the White House messaging plan since it’s been widely reported that a major part, a major part of the Kerry-Lieberman bill was essentially written by BP,” McConnell said on the Senate floor on Wednesday. “Let me say that again. A major part of the Kerry-Lieberman bill was written by BP. This is clearly an inconvenient fact.”

McConnell About Obama Speech: "He Left Out a Few Things" (video)

Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell gave the Republicans response to President Obama's endorsement of Democrats plans to go nuclear and use the reconciliation process to pass a health care bill the majority of Americans oppose. Among the things McConnell said Obama left out of his speech were the five hundred billion dollars in Medicare cuts and half trillion dollars in new taxes his bloated health care bill contain. If Democrats pass this partisan bill, Senator McConnell predicted,
"Every Election This Fall Will be a Referendum On ObamaCare"

McConnell: 'Every Election This Fall Will be a Referendum On ObamaCare'

If Democrats pass this bloated monstrosity, it will be 'Total War' at the poll this fall.

Senate Democrats are willing to do anything to ram Harry Reid's health care reform bill through Congress before Christmas.
