Obama's EPA Prepares to Skyrocket Your Electric Rates

President Obama admitted his Cap-and-Trade plan would cause electric rates to skyrocket. He can't get Cap-and-Trade through Congress, but he can backdoor the same result by EPA carbon CO2 regulation.
NYT - In the next weeks and months, Lisa P. Jackson, the Environmental Protection Agency administrator, is scheduled to establish regulations on smog, mercury, carbon dioxide, mining waste and vehicle emissions that will affect every corner of the economy.
She is working under intense pressure from opponents in Congress, from powerful industries, from impatient environmentalists and from the Supreme Court, which just affirmed the agency’s duty to address global warming emissions, a project that carries profound economic implications.
The new rules will roll out just as President Obama’s re-election campaign is getting under way, with a White House highly sensitive to the probability of political damage from a flood of government mandates that will strike particularly hard at the manufacturing sector in states crucial to the 2012 election.

Confirmed: Romney is an Anthropogenic Global warming True Believer

Never vote for this RINO. He will sign some form of Cap-and-Trade if it comes across his desk.
(Reuters) – Presidential hopeful Mitt Romney broke with Republican orthodoxy on Friday by saying he believes that humans are responsible, at least to some extent, for climate change.

“I believe the world is getting warmer, and I believe that humans have contributed to that,” he told a crowd of about 200 at a town hall meeting in Manchester, New Hampshire.

“It’s important for us to reduce our emissions of pollutants and greenhouse gases that may be significant contributors.”

The former Massachusetts governor fielded questions on topics ranging from the debt ceiling to abortion on his first full day of campaigning for 2012 Republican primary nomination.

Republicans Introduce Bill to Stop EPA Regulation of CO2

Carbon Folly

Politicians can talk about civility until they turn blue in the face, but fundamental policy differences remain. Cap-and-Trade is one of these differences. President Obama was unable to get Congress to pass Cap-and-Trade when they had overwhelming majorities in both Houses. His response was to impose CO2 emmission controls by EPA regulation. Republicans will not agree to that.
(Daily Caller)- Republican Sen. John Barrasso of Wyoming introduced legislation Monday afternoon that would prohibit federal agencies from regulating greenhouse gases without a direct mandate from Congress.

The Defending America’s Affordable Energy and Jobs Act seeks to stop bureaucracies from unilaterally passing economically unsound regulations for the sole purpose of addressing climate change. It has seven co-sponsors, including Republican Sens. Mike Enzi of Wyoming, James Inhofe of Oklahoma and John Thune of South Dakota.

“It’s time for the administration to face the facts: Americans rejected cap and trade because they know it means higher energy prices and lost jobs,” said Barrasso in a statement.  “Washington agencies are now trying a backdoor approach to regulate our climate by abusing existing laws.  Congress must step in and stand up for the American people.”

California Goes It Alone On Cap-and-Trade

As if Californians didn't have enough problems, California is forging ahead with a Cap-and-Trade system. Companies will be forced to reduce CO2 emissions or buy carbon offsets from those who do. This will create energy inflation in California and force companies to consider relocation.

The Los Angeles Times reported:
California regulators Thursday are expected to adopt the nation's most comprehensive carbon trading regime, creating a market-based way to lower greenhouse gas emissions at a time when similar efforts have stalled in Congress.

The program is the centerpiece of the state's 2006 global warming law, which aims to slash carbon dioxide and other planet-heating pollution to 1990 levels by 2020. That would amount to a 15% cut from today's level.

President Obama Looks for New Ways to Destroy the Economy

The economy killing Cap-and-Trade bill is clearly dead in the Senate, but President Obam is undeterred. As part of his new bipartisan partisan stance, he is looking for ways to go around Congress and control global warming, climate change climate disruption by regulation.

The AP reported:

Environmental groups and industry seem headed for another battle over regulation of greenhouse gases, as President Barack Obama said he will look for ways to control global warming pollution other than Congress placing a ceiling on it.

Cap-and-trade was just one way of skinning the cat; it was not the only way,” Obama said at a news conference Wednesday, a day after Democrats lost control of the House. “I’m going to be looking for other means to address this problem.”

President Obama clearly failed to get the message of November 2nd. Americans need to finish skinning Obama's cat in 2012.

The Ben Chandler Cheap Energy Flip-Flop (video)

Before Ben Chandler went to Washington, he touted Kentucky as a cheap energy state. Afterward, not so much. Chandler voted for Cap-and Trade which Obama claimed would skyrocket energy costs and bankrupt anyone who built a coal fired electric plant. Kentucky gets most of it's electricity from coal. Thanks for putting Kentucky first, Ben.

Demo KY Senate Candidate Jack Conway Poised to Make Millions if Cap-and-Trade Passes

Democrat Jack Conway comes from a state where coal is king. He recently disclosed his financial holdings and ,shockingly, Conway is heavily invested in a company big in natural gas. That would be scandalous enough, but the story doesn't end there. The company Jack Conway has invested up to $5 million in, Kinder Morgan, is poised to make a killing if Cap-and-Trade passes.
Kinder Morgan is one of the largest energy transportation, storage, and distribution companies in North America. The company also is heavily involved in the transportation, sale, and use of CO₂ for enhanced oil recovery. As interest in carbon capture grows, Kinder Morgan may be poised to become a major player in this area as well.

You read that right. The company Conway is so heavily invested in is heavily involved in CO2 transportation and sale. This certainly explains Jack Conway's flip-floping position on Cap-and-Trade.

Will The Real Joe Manchin Please Stand Up?

In 2008, WV Governor Joe Manchin shilled for President Obama and his Cap-and-Trade scheme.

Now that polling shows Joe Manchin is losing his bid to replace deceased Senator Robert Byrd, he is ready to "Dead aim" at Obama's Cap-and-Trade scheme. Suddenly, Manchin realizes Cap-and-Trade is bad for West Virginia.

Will the real Joe Manchin please stand up?

Kentucky GOP Senate Candidate Rand Paul Reams President Obama

Kentucky GOP Senatorial Candidate Rand Paul had some harsh words for President Obama. Paul claims President Obama cares nothing about Kentucky and has EPA stifling coal mining permits.
Paul claimed Obama “cares nothing about Kentucky and cares even less about Kentucky coal.”

“We have a president who is forcing the EPA down our throats,” Paul said. “Even without changing the rules, the EPA is stifling the permit process and people (are) out of work here because of the president and his policies.

Rand Paul made the comments at a coal appreciation event in Knott County, KY Saturday. Paul is on solid ground in his criticism of President Obama's dislike of the coal industry. Senator Obama told the SF Chronicle, in January of 2008, his Cap and Trade plan would bankrupt anyone who wanted to build a coal-powered plant.

Paul's Democratic opponent, Jack Conway, claims he is also opposed to Cap and Trade. News reports indicate he has previously been a supporter of Obama's plan to destroy the coal industry.

Climate Change Bill Suffers Senate Meltdown

Today, Harry Reid said about the Democrats Cap and Tax bill,
"We know we don’t have the votes..."

One thing is certain. If Harry Reid doesn't have the votes now, he will have less in 2011.

The Politico reported:
Senate Democrats pulled the plug on climate legislation Thursday, pushing the issue off into an uncertain future ahead of midterm elections where President Barack Obama’s party is girding for a drubbing.

Rather than a long-awaited measure capping greenhouse gases — or even a more limited bill directed only at electric utilities — Senate Majority Leader Harry Reid (D-Nev.) will move forward next week on a bipartisan energy-only bill that responds to the Gulf of Mexico oil spill and contains other more popular energy items.

“It’s easy to count to 60,” Reid said. “I could do it by the time I was in eighth grade. My point is this, we know where we are. We know we don’t have the votes [for a bill capping emissions]. This is a step forward.”

Obama Prepares to Back the Bus Over Blue Dogs After November Election

President Obama embarked on a what seemed to be an insane strategy last year. Shortly after passing the Stimulus, he had his minions on the Hill, Reid and Pelosi, launch full throttle into two of the most controversial legislative issues ever to face Congress. The House passed Cap-and-Trade climate change legislation in June of 2009. The Senate failed to take up the bill because of lack of support among many Midwest Democratic Senators. Undeterred, President Obama had Pelosi start the process of ramming Health Care Reform through the House. After much twisting of 'Blue Dog' Democrats arms, the House passed HCR in early November. A lot of haggling and some thinly veiled bribing ensued and the Senate passed Health Care Reform under reconciliation in March and the House quickly affirmed the bill.

This strategy appears to have been wildly successful. Why would anyone call it insane? The only reason President Obama and the Democratic leadership were able to accomplish this was their almost 80 vote majority in the House and filibuster-proof 60 vote(including 2 Independents) majority in the Senate. Since these bills had virtually no Republican support, moderate Democrats from districts or states that voted for McCain in 2008 or have a large number of Republican or Conservative voters were needed. These are the so called 'Blue Dog' Democrats. The 'Blue Dogs' were forced to repeatedly throw themselves on their swords to pass legislation that was often very unpopular in their districts or states. Consequently, many of them won't be returning to Washington next year. President Obama will lose his large majorities in both the Senate and House. He may even lose control of one or both of those bodies. President Obama threw 'Blue Dog' democrats and his future majorities under the bus to pass Cap-and-Trade and Health Care Reform.

The pain Blue Dogs suffered due to Cap-and-Trade seems to have been wasted because it is still stalled in the Senate. Health Care Reform passed, but if President Obama had been willing to work with Republicans, he could have passed a Health Care Reform bill without destroying the careers of many moderate Democrats. The general concept of HCR was very popular last summer. A version of Obamacare light could have easily passed with some Republican support.

As President Obama pressed ahead with his liberal agenda, the economy continued to head south. Team Obama told us unemployment would not go over 8% if the Stimulus wasn't passed. Unemployment actually approached 10% even with the Stimulus. Voters demanded Congress focus more on jobs. President Obama ignored this demand and pressed his controversial initiatives. Why did President Obama waste the careers of so many Democrats for a stalled climate change bill and Health Care Reform that could have been passed in a different version? President Obama has shown a lack of willingness to compromise his liberal ideology, but few think he is politically insane.

Obama's strategy only makes sense if his plan all along was to cost many of the 'Blue Dogs' their jobs. The stage has been set for Cap-and-Trade and President Obama is now setting the stage for Immigration Reform. How can so many moderate Democrats losing their seats help pass these controversial bills? There will be a large block of lame-duck 'Blue Dogs' in Congress after November 2, 2010. Getting their votes for these unpopular bills would be almost impossible if they knew they would have to face reelection again soon. Without that constrain, the Democratic leadership can appeal to their party loyalty and, with luck, get enough moderate Democrats in the House and Senate to pass Cap-and-Trade and Immigration Reform in a lame-duck session after the November election. Scott Brown's capture of the Kennedy Senate seat complicated the plan, but that could not have been foreseen last summer. After throwing 'Blue Dogs' under the bus the first time, President Obama now plans to back it up over their corpses.

Obama Tries Basketball Diplomacy To Pass Cap and Tax

President Obama is desperate to round up enough votes to pass his national energy tax. The Cap-and-Trade legislation has be stalled out in the Senate since last year. President Obama is trying to spin the Gulf oil spill into an excuse to raise Americans electric bills and gasoline cost. Now, Obama wants to shoot hoops with GOP Senator Scott Brown in a bid to flip his vote. Brown is unlikely to budge.

The Hill reported:
President Barack Obama is hoping to practice a little basketball diplomacy with a crucial swing Republican in the Senate.

Obama has invited Sen. Scott Brown, a centrist Republican from Massachusetts, to shoot some hoops with him at the White House this summer.

Obama and Democratic leaders see Brown as a potential swing vote on comprehensive energy reform and jobs legislation.

“He said, ‘I’d like to have you and your daughter out to play basketball this summer,’” Brown said. “So I’m excited about that.”

‘Major Part’ of Democrats’ Cap and Trade Bill ‘Essentially Written by BP’

That claim was made on the Senate floor yesterday by Senate Minority leader Mitch McConnell. McConnell also claimed Democrats are using the spill to “piggy back” the Kerry-Lieberman bill on future oil spill legislation.

CNS News reported:
Senate Minority Leader Mitch McConnell (R-Ky.) said that BP, the energy company responsible for the ongoing oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, helped craft the bill proposed by Sens. John Kerry (D-Mass.) and Joe Lieberman (I-Conn.) that would tax businesses for carbon emissions and raise the cost of fuel for American consumers.

“The problem for Democrats is that debating the Democrat cap-and-trade bill might not fit neatly into the White House messaging plan since it’s been widely reported that a major part, a major part of the Kerry-Lieberman bill was essentially written by BP,” McConnell said on the Senate floor on Wednesday. “Let me say that again. A major part of the Kerry-Lieberman bill was written by BP. This is clearly an inconvenient fact.”

McConnell made his comments...

Senate Democrats Unveil Cap And Tax Legislation

In a bid to use shock over the oil spill in the Gulf of Mexico, Senator's John Kerry and Joe Lieberman have unveiled the Senate version of Cap and Trade. The bill seeks to cut carbon emissions by 80% by 2050 through use of what Senate Majority Leader Mitch McConnell called "a job-killing national energy tax." No Republican is currently supporting the bill. Many think anthropogenic global warming by CO2 has been called into question by the Climategate scandal.

AP reported:
Sens. John Kerry and Joe Lieberman unveiled a long-awaited bill Wednesday that aims to curtail pollution blamed for global warming, reduce oil imports and create millions of energy-related jobs.

The 987-page bill, the product of more than seven months of negotiations and tweaked recently in response to the Gulf oil spill, also includes new protections for offshore drilling and for the first time would set a price on carbon dioxide emissions produced by coal-fired power plants and other large polluters.

Another Nail in the Coffin of Cap-and-Trade

RINO Senator Lindsey Graham (R-SC) is pulling his support for the Democrats Cap-and-Trade bill. Graham is angry Democrats are planning to push immigration reform before the energy bill. Senator Graham has been working with Democrats on immigration reform too, but he thinks it is too politically charged and will poison the atmosphere in Washington.

The NYT reported:
In a move that may derail a comprehensive climate change and energy bill in the Senate, one of the measure’s central architects, Senator Lindsey Graham, has issued an angry protest over what he says are Democratic plans to give priority to a debate over immigration policy.

Mr. Graham, Republican of South Carolina, said in a sharply worded letter on Saturday that he would no longer participate in negotiations on the energy bill, throwing its already cloudy prospects deeper into doubt. ...

This likely kills Cap-and-Trade for 2010.

Record snowfall in Washington Buries Cap-and-Trade Legislation

Democratic Senators say Cap-and-Trade legislation is dead for 2010. There was little chance of it coming up this year due to the lack of support and desire to shift the priority to jobs and the economy. The recent record snowfall in Washington will make it more difficult to convince people climate change legislation is an emergency.

Democratic senators say a bill that was once a top priority for the party and for President Barack Obama cannot be dug up again during 2010.

Democratic Party Organ VoteVets.org Attacks Republicans in Ad Tying Clean Energy to Terrorism

Democratic Party organ VoteVets.org is attacking Mitch McConnell and other top Republicans in a series of dishonest ads tying terrorism with clean energy. This 501(c)(4) tax exempt group is supposed to be nonpartisan, but they appear to be an organ of the left wing of the Democratic Party. A quick trip to their front page shows they are endorsing three democrats for Congress and running hit ads against top Republicans. Due to the fact 501(c)(4) groups can take unlimited anonymous donations, it is unclear who is funding this group, but they seem to have a lot of money to throw around. In case you don't know, what they mean by Clean Energy Bill is Cap-and-Trade legislation. Calling Cap-and-Trade legislation bipartisan is just the beginning of their dishonesty. Trying to tie opposition to Cap-and-Trade to being soft on terrorism is ridiculous. Why the FEC allows this is beyond me.

Here is a sample of their dishonesty.

Will California Revolt Against Cap-and-Trade?

Their is a movement underway in California to suspend their 2006 version of Cap and Trade. This law would require California to reduce down its carbon emissions to 1990 levels by 2020. The plan could raise the cost of living by $3,857 per household each year by 2020 according to a study. California is currently dealing with high unemployment (12.3%) and $20 billion budget deficits. The new initiative would suspend the Cap-and Trade law passed in 2006 until unemployment is below 5.5%. Supporters are trying to put this initiative on this November's ballot.

The WSJ reported:
Could Californians finally be serious about turning around their sputtering economy? One hopeful sign is a ballot initiative that would repeal the Golden State's version of a cap-and-trade carbon tax....

NYT: Obama's $3.8T Budget Lays Groundwork for Cap-And-Trade

According to this NYT's article, President Obama's new budget proposal includes a 'placeholder' for Cap and Trade. President Obama wants to go 'full speed ahead' with Cap and Trade in spite of mounting evidence of bogus claims in the IPCC reports and the Climategate email scandal.

The president's $3.8 trillion spending plan calls for lawmakers to set up a "comprehensive market-based climate change policy" that would curb heat-trapping emissions in the range of 17 percent below 2005 levels by 2020, followed by midcentury cuts of more than 80 percent.

Australia Fails To Pass Their Cap and Trade Bill

In the shadow of Climategate, the Australian Liberal Party has revolted against expensive legislation to limit CO2 emissions and implement carbon trading. There was a forced change of leadership over this issue.
The Liberal Party last week agreed to back the carbon laws, but climate change skeptics forced a leadership and policy change on Tuesday. "We won't have an ETS as part of our policy going to the next election...," Liberal leader Tony Abbott said Wednesday.

Without Liberal support, Australia's Cap and Trade Legislation failed to pass. Acting Prime Minister Julia Gillard will be going to Copenhagen empty-handed.
Reuters UK reported:

Acting Prime Minister Julia Gillard said the government would re-introduce the carbon trade bills in February to give the opposition Liberal Party one more chance to support the scheme, adding the government was not looking at an early election.

"Today the climate change extremists and deniers ... have stopped this nation taking action on climate change," Gillard told reporters.
