Demo Rep. Tim Ryan (OH) Cancels Town Hall Over Fear of Constituents

Rep. Tim Ryan (D-Ohio) has canceled a health care town hall because he is afraid to meet with his constituents. Yes. He voted for Obamacare.

Rep. Tim Ryan (D-Ohio) canceled a town hall on the new healthcare law Tuesday because of concerns about the security of the event.

The congressman’s office cited safety issues at the facility where the meeting was to take place and threats to his office, according to a report by News21.

“We just thought it best to cancel it for safety concerns. ...

Zogby: Obama loses support among Democrats

The latest Zogby interactive poll has President Obama taking a big hit in support from his key constituents. He has lost 13 points among Democrats in a little over one month. Zogby has Obama's overall approval at only 42%.

Zogby reported:

The latest Zogby Interactive poll of 4,518 likely voters conducted from August 28-31 found 48% disapprove and 42% approve of the job Obama is doing. The poll found 75% of Democrats approve of Obama's performance, a drop of 13 points among Democrats from an interactive poll done July 21-24 of this year. That same poll found 48% of all likely voters approving of Obama's job performance, and 49% disapproving.

Another Cowardly Democrat is Afraid to Meet His Constituents

Many Democratic Representatives are afraid to meet with their constituents at health care Town Halls. They are afraid YouTube videos of angry constituents will be posted on the Internet. Add U.S. Rep. Brian Baird (D-WA) to the list that will be doing telephone meetings. It seems Rep. Baird is afraid he will be "ambushed." He is following the Nancy Pelosi playbook and comparing his constituents to Nazis. Although the protesters have been very noisy, no Congressman has been attacked. Perhaps he means "ambushed" by a video camera.

Over 10 years in Congress, U.S. Rep. Brian Baird has stayed tethered to his district, flying back to Southwest Washington for more than 300 sometimes-bruising town hall meetings during Congressional recesses.

But this year, he's literally decided to phone it in.

Instead of appearing in person, where "extremists" would have "the chance to shout and make YouTube videos," Baird said Wednesday, he's holding what he calls "telephone town halls" instead.

Baird said he's using the new system because he fears his political opponents may be planning "an ambush" to disrupt his meetings, using methods Baird compared to Nazism.

"What we're seeing right now is close to Brown Shirt tactics," Baird, D-Vancouver, said in a phone interview. "I mean that very seriously."

Democratic congressmen are hiding behind staff and closed doors to keep from meeting with their constituents. Congressman Chris Carney's representative refuses to meet with anyone in front of the camera. Rep. Christopher Carney (D-Pa) didn't even have the guts to show up. When Congressmen are afraid to meet with the people that elected them, they need to be thrown out of office.
