Debunking Obama's Claim, “I’ve approved fewer regulations in the first three years of my presidency than my Republican predecessor did in his.”

This chart from The Heritage Foundation’s James Gattuso and Diane Katz sets the record straight.

So is Obama a complete liar? Not exactly...
As the chart shows, Obama was misleading the American people. While talking about the total number of regulations, he failed to mention that his administration’s major new rules were far greater in number and costlier than those adopted under President George W. Bush. It was a point that Sunstein made as well, earning him a “Pinocchio” from the Washington Post for “omitting important facts.”

Oh, about that claim Jared Loughner was linked to a right-wing group by DHS

Remember the allegation a DHS memo linked Jared Loughner to the right-wing group "American Renaissance"? The left jumped all over it. It was complete and utter BS.

Via The Plum Line at WaPo:
For the last 24 hours, the Web has been alive with speculation that the Arizona shooter has some sort of ties to a right-wing group called American Renaissance. The primary source for this claim is a Fox News report from yesterday saying that law enforcement had made this determination based on information provided by the Department of Homeland Security.

But a DHS official tells me that the department has not established any such possibility, undercutting what appears to be the primary basis for this claim.

Debunking Obamacare Cost savings

Democrats claim there will be a cost savings under Obamacare because people will use the emergency room less. They claim the uninsured go to the emergency room more often because they can't afford a primary care physician. Is this true? A recent PriceWaterhouse Coopers survey does not support that claim. They found Medicaid patients use the emergency room twice as much as the uninsured do. Also, Massachusetts, which has a "universal coverage" mandate, has one of the highest ER visit rates in the country. The Democrats plan to shove more people into Medicaid may dramatically increase ER visits and costs.

From the NY Post:
ERs are indeed dangerously overcrowded; having worked in a busy city ER for more than a decade, I can tell you that the "extra" patients interfere seriously with basic care. But the solution doesn't involve giving more people insurance coverage -- it requires turning more people into wise consumers.

A recent PriceWaterhouse Coopers survey found that half of patients who visited US emergency rooms over the last year did so unnecessarily....
