(The Hill)- The United States military action against Libya is motivated by a desire for affordable and accessible oil, a top Democrat on environmental issues said Monday.
Rep. Edward Markey (D-Mass.), the ranking member of the House Natural Resources Committee, said that he agreed with President Obama’s decision to launch, along with allies, attacks against Libya and its leader, Moammar Gadhafi. But Markey said the attacks were primarily motivated by oil.
“We are in Libya because of oil,” Markey said on MSNBC. “It all goes back to the 5 million barrels of oil we import from OPEC on a daily basis.”
This isn't helping anything. I strongly disagree with many Muslim's 7th century interpretation of their religious texts, but I also strongly oppose burning any book.
(USA Today)- The controversial Florida pastor who halted plans to burn a Quran on the 9/11 anniversary last year oversaw the burning of the Islamic holy book on Sunday after it was found “guilty” during a “trial” at his church.
“We had a court process,” said Pastor Terry Jones, who acted as judge, in a phone interview. “We tried to set it up as fair as possible, which you can imagine, of course, is very difficult.”
Here is a newsflash for Rep. Rob Andrews (D-N.J.). When Americans pull up to the pump and have to pay $4.00 a gallon for gas, that is a problem. Higher gas prices are not a solution. Andrews doesn't believe drilling for more oil here will create more jobs? The truth is more drilling would create thousands of jobs and reduce our national trade imbalance.
(CNS News) — Rep. Rob Andrews (D-N.J.) said that increasing oil drilling “off the coast” is “a problem, not a solution” to creating jobs in the United States. Andrews recommended that House Republicans bring legislation to the floor if they think more drilling will create jobs.
Appearing at a press conference with Rep. Debbie Wasserman Schultz (D-Fla.) on job creation, Rep. Andrews said, “I agree with my colleague and friend that drilling for oil off the coast is a problem, not a solution, but let’s get back to the main point here that if the Republicans really believe that was really a job-creating idea, why don’t they put it on the floor?”

Liberal House Democrats aren't taking President Obama decision to authorize military action against Libya well. Dennis Kucinich is talking impeachment.
A hard-core group of liberal House Democrats is questioning the constitutionality of U.S. missile strikes against Libya, with one lawmaker raising the prospect of impeachment during a Democratic Caucus conference call on Saturday.
Reps. Jerrold Nadler (N.Y.), Donna Edwards (Md.), Mike Capuano (Mass.), Dennis Kucinich (Ohio), Maxine Waters (Calif.), Rob Andrews (N.J.), Sheila Jackson Lee (Texas), Barbara Lee (Calif.) and Del. Eleanor Holmes Norton (D.C.) “all strongly raised objections to the constitutionality of the president’s actions” during that call, said two Democratic lawmakers who took part.

The President does not have power under the Constitution to unilaterally authorize a military attack in a situation that does not involve stopping an actual or imminent threat to the nation.
As Commander-in-Chief, the President does have a duty to protect and defend the United States. In instances of self-defense, the President would be within his constitutional authority to act before advising Congress or seeking its consent. History has shown us time and again, however, that military action is most successful when it is authorized and supported by the Legislative branch. It is always preferable to have the informed consent of Congress prior to any military action.
Of course, President Obama has obviously changed his position by authorizing U.S. military action against Libya, which is clearly no imminent threat to the U.S.
The purpose of this post isn't that I disagree with President Obama's decision to bomb Libya. I don't. This post merely illustrates the mind-exploding hypocrisy of Barak Obama. Senator and candidate Obama severely criticized former President Bush for holding prisoners indefinitely in Gitmo and launching military action without prior consent of Congress. Now, he is doing the exactly the same things.

Secretary of State Hillary Clinton has been the driving force for this military action in Libya. Ironically, she also claimed during the 2008 campaign the President doesn't have authority to bomb(Iran) without consent of Congress.
Salt prices are up 1,000 percent and now there is a run on soy sauce in China.
A rush on salt began in coastal cities in China on March 16. As of March 18, the trend has spread to many provinces in China, including regions that are not on the eastern seaboard. Soy sauce has also been sought after as a salt replacement. Many people think that the ocean is being contaminated due to the nuclear crisis in Japan, and that it is only a matter of time before salt becomes hazardous.
Mr. Li from Shaanxi Province told The Epoch Times that he didn't hear about the salt rush until March 17. Everyone was rushing to buy salt. He said his friends had called and said that salt prices in Baoji City had surged 1,000 percent, and were still going up.
